No matter what kind of music you like...when we hear someone with true talent, it doesn't matter the genre of music, we recognize talent, soul, passion and authenticity. Most people in the USA consider Chris Stapleton as a country singer but he is so much more! This man sings with soul, passion and pure heartbreak. He has pure Soul in that gritty voice with an incredible blend of Country, Blues, R&B and even some jazz drumming from his drummer. Loving the band, especially the harmonica. I think all music would be improved with the addition of a harmonica but that's just me. His runs are all different, and yet, each sounds amazing. I am not much a fan of country music but this man will bring me to country singing like that. There is another country, R&B combo that hits me in the heart and soul. Please listen to it and do a reaction, I think you'll love it. "Conway Twitty ft. Sam Moore - A Rainy Night in Georgia". You'll love me after listening to it.
You read my mind. I really don't follow country music and thought after hearing his version of this song that he sounds much more like a blues singer than a country artist.
You should listen to a version with his wife singing harmony. She could literally keep up with every run he does. And he never takes his eyes off of her.

Yes BUT that was not the most popular one back in the 80s, it made it to 77 with Coe, but George Jones version was in the top 10. And neither of them put the soul smack down on em Like Mr. Stapleton.
This was just a song I knew of & occasionally heard until Chris got ahold of it & turned it into pure legend. A lot of people covered this song in the 70s & 80s and, they ALL equally sucked. Lmao!
DAC was the original, this version is ok, he has a great voice, but he rushes some of the lyrics and that’s a little annoying. Remake at best. Lets hear your own stuff.
When my husband first heard Chris Stapleton on Seris Radio after we had went out and ate one weekend years ago. He said this guy is gonna go far. My husband died 3 1/2 years old. He didn’t really get to see all the many great accomplishments Chris has made. Every time I hear Chris on the radio, it brings me bad to that night with my husband. I love and miss my husband, Trey.

This dude is such a great artist. His blend of country blues and soul is so beautiful. He has made alot of people question what they knew of country music. Bridging gaps in genres like a boss
Blues and country comes from the same roots, the struggles from the poor farmers getting exploited and the slaves getting exploited - even tho the laters had it harder for sure - are very similar. Country and blues are like a fork-split on the same path of American music.
I could watch this over and over~ his voice is mesmerizing to me, he is a story teller with a gift. I wish a knew of him sooner. I first heard him in 2017 I believe. Such a amazing soul and talent. 👏👏👏
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your face when Chris started singing! My grown boys introduced me to Chris Stapleton, specifically to his work with The Steeldrivers. His harmony with his wife is simply amazing! The first song of theirs I heard was "Sticks That Made Thunder"--and I literally cried. My youngest son does a credible job singing Chris' music, but we all, the entire family, sing along, it's that soul-catching. Thank you for reviewing Mr. Stapleton's music!
He has a true natural talent. He could sing the ABC's and make it a hit. His wife also has an amazing voice. Look up You Are My Sunshine by Chris and Morgan Stapleton. You WILL NOT be disappointed!
This version of Tennessee Whiskey is the best version. Chris Stapleton has made this song his very own. Chris can sing a freaking phone book & it would be awesome. Chris Stapleton is phenomenal. Morganne Stapleton, the wife of Chris, usually sings backup vocals for him. She is equally talented, just like her husband. They sing beautifully together.
He has a beautiful voice. This song can go either Way country or Rhythm and blues, I wish Al Green was still alive I would've love to hear them sing together their voice is very similar
His work with the Steeldrivers is some of the best music ever made. Doesn't matter what your preferred genre is, give it a listen. Perfect marriage of song writing & musical composition. It just feels right.
He was popular in bluegrass long before he became “well known” for his country hits. He was the lead singer of the Steeldrivers for a while… any of their older stuff is gold!
I just love when "THAT SOUND" comes up from deep within...and it doesn't matter what color you are or where you come from. Deep calls unto deep and you just "know it" when you "hear it"
He hung around and sang with a lot of blacks that's how a lot of them sing that way. Here in the mountains we all sang together went to church and old fashion tent revivals
They have a ton of kids too.. Great relationship. Everyone should aspire to be able to live out your dreams with your partner like they are doing. Incredible
Exactly!! They're who he reminds me of too!!! I'm not a big modern Country music fan overall, but if it's Bluesy, or has a true Rock edge?!... Hell yeah!! I've been more into the Blues, Hard Rock, Metal, Rap, classic Rock, etc. But, I've adored Chris Stapleton's music since I first heard it. So much grit, fire, raw talent, and all with a Blues influence to top it off!! The guitar seems effortless in his hands, but vitally alive!! I’m 62 years old &l let me say I would get lost & be moved in my spirit & and my soul, when I listened to artists of Motown back in the 70s’ so I find joy watching black brothers &sisters being moved in their inner being by southern fryed country.
Chris Stapleton has an incredible voice and his runs are so sweet. There is a lot of raw emotion conveyed when he sings. This is the way live music should be.
Every so often, an artist's voice is so good that it is hard to listen to the lyrics because you are so caught up in the voice's amazing melody. This guy is one of those voices. He could sing ANYTHING and make it sound amazing.
Every time I hear him sing this song I get goosebumps and my eyes well up with tears at the same time. Not like crybaby tears, I'm talking about music that moves you and makes a tear fall out your eye from the emotion that flows as he wraps you up in his voice 💧 ♥️
There is no mistakes about it . Chris Stapleton is a gift to country music and has a one-of-a-kind voice . He's the real deal . Love his sound and and his ability to put it all together . He's a great artist no doubt 🤔 👍
All the way to your soul. You'll love everything he does. More known for being a song writer but he's obviously a better singer than 99% of the singers buying his songs.
He has a long history of original songs he wrote for other artists and he just started singing publicly about 10 years ago at urging of his wife who is also his backup singer. Try his take on "Fool me again", "Death Row", "I was wrong" and "Sometimes I cry", to start. I think David Allen Coe (one of the original outlaw country artists) brought the original of this song to the public quite a while back.

Lmao!
Dean Dillon , Linda Hargrove.
DAC was the original, this version is ok, he has a great voice, but he rushes some of the lyrics and that’s a little annoying. Remake at best. Lets hear your own stuff.
@@danielb7613 Must be a DAC fan
When my husband first heard Chris Stapleton on Seris Radio after we had went out and ate one weekend years ago. He said this guy is gonna go far. My husband died 3 1/2 years old. He didn’t really get to see all the many great accomplishments Chris has made. Every time I hear Chris on the radio, it brings me bad to that night with my husband. I love and miss my husband, Trey.
Looks like he knew REAL music when he heard it, lol!! I'm REALLY sorry for your loss, but I'm grateful for you, that you at least still have beautiful, fond memories of your Husband!! Thank you for sharing this, it really touched me!! I hope the BEST for you!!
Take Care, & Merry Christmas,
Amanda Heath
he's listening in Heaven. :)
This dude is such a great artist. His blend of country blues and soul is so beautiful. He has made alot of people question what they knew of country music. Bridging gaps in genres like a boss
My favorite thing about him, introducing new people to country music, he the doorway to Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Colter Wall, and Cody Jinks.
Chris knew his band and recognized them on stage, a rarity in this age.
Chris has written many famous songs for others !! He’s amazing!!
The whole album from Tennessee Whiskey is a masterpiece and I'm not even a big country music fan!
Thank you for playing this. I'm a huge blues fan and I'm ashamed to say I've never heard of him. He is mind blowing.
"I was wrong" The Austin City Limits show not only are the vocals stunning but seriously the guitar work is soul.
I 2nd, 3rd, and 4th this suggestion
It's against the law to do a bad concert in Austin.
@@Nortonork Austin City Limits is on my bucket list. It’s things to do before I’m 60. I’ve gotta hurry though. I’ll be 59 in August. 🤦♀️
That should be required for baby musicians
He's on the same level as Stevie
This version of Tennessee Whiskey is the best version. Chris Stapleton has made this song his very own. Chris can sing a freaking phone book & it would be awesome. Chris Stapleton is phenomenal. Morganne Stapleton, the wife of Chris, usually sings backup vocals for him. She is equally talented, just like her husband. They sing beautifully together.
Yeah it’s nearly unrecognizable from the 1980’s version.
He has a beautiful voice. This song can go either Way country or Rhythm and blues, I wish Al Green was still alive I would've love to hear them sing together their voice is very similar
Just go find all his live performances at Austin City limits and him and Justin Timberlake live at the CMA’s is an unbelievable performance!!!!
That 2015 CMA duet with Justin Timberlake is FIRE.
AMAZING
Yeah. This is a great version but is missing something without Morgan. I think she was pregnant or had just had the twins at this point.
In my opinion best award show performance EVER!
Yes! Watching CS and JT was just like watching two musicians having a jam session.
His work with the Steeldrivers is some of the best music ever made. Doesn't matter what your preferred genre is, give it a listen. Perfect marriage of song writing & musical composition. It just feels right.
This.
Agree 100%
Agreed, love the Steeldrivers too!!
He was popular in bluegrass long before he became “well known” for his country hits. He was the lead singer of the Steeldrivers for a while… any of their older stuff is gold!
Also his stint with The Jompson Brothers - Barely Alive is my fave of theirs.
Steeldrivers is fantastic
Absolutely 💯
Love the Steeldrivers!
Bluegrass is so pure imo. I've loved that kind of music since I was 14...26 years later. It's still the best.
This guy is amazing. The star spangled banner at the Super Bowl made me a fan. This guy is out of this world.
Absolutely
He has so many good songs. Most do deal with deep issues. If "Fire Away" doesn't make you cry. Others are "I Was Wrong" and "Cold".
Chris Stapleton is on a level all by himself !! Nobody can cover this song
But lol he is covering this song lol
@@jeremylab38 / I think he covered it soo good lol

Sometimes I cry - Chris Stapleton. He puts so much emotion into it
When he sings you feel it in your chest. Natural talent. 🙌🏾
This man is the truth.... his hat might say country, but his voice only talks the blues.
Stapleton is the most uniquely gifted vocalist of my considerable lifetime.
Just the expression on your face when he started singing and listening to him says it all brother
Nothing is like hearing Chris sing it. It is truly soul lifting!
A person that can appreciate every genre of music and feel the soul of the artist that is making it is my kind of people. Music shall set us all free.
If only there were more people with this mindset. ❤
My Lord, is there anyone out there that sings with anymore emotion than Chris Stapleton? Gives me cold chills everytime. Love this man.
YES!!
He is so awesome. Hearing him sing brings me to tears. I absolutely LOVE his voice.
Sometimes I Cry (live). Absolutely immense!
Every single one of his songs is just great. This man can sing the abc's and id listen to it on repeat
Chris Stapleton is HUGE in country music!!!
A RARE talent. And he NEVER misses on his runs. Amazing.
I LOVE "Say Something" with Chris and Justin Timberlake. The video is epic, and the song is such a great blend of the two.
He's missing his wife in this performance, who adds that next level to the song. Harmonisation. She is also an incredible singer.
His wife is just as talented it’s insane
I was thinking the same thing.
They have a ton of kids too.. Great relationship. Everyone should aspire to be able to live out your dreams with your partner like they are doing. Incredible
100% Fact! I love the Austin City Limit version. Morgane compliments him so well. Their voices are meant to be together!
HIs wife is a BEAST on vocals and they blend PERFECTLY
I love the old soul this man possesses in his songs.. the guitar, the voice reminds me of some BB King and Muddy Waters
Take Care, and Happy Holidays to All,
Merry Christmas 🎄 ⛄⛄🎄

@@debbieheath7838 Merry Christmas, I can tell you have a great appreciation for good music 🎶, I am open to every type of music my motto is “ don’t knock it till you’ve tried it” 💯
This guy is a Kentucky native and is one of the best to ever come out of my home state of Kentucky. He has won all kinds of country music awards and has a great selection of music.Check out all of his music you won't be disappointed.
He makes me even more Kentucky proud.
“I Was Wrong”...all day long. Talking serious goose bumps to almost tears every time. Make sure you’re fully enveloped in the song, and you can feel his voice. Chris Stapleton all day, every day. Haha
I was just going to suggest that song.
Your man. The song that "bought him a house". He wrote it, sold it, and still does it better than everyone when he sings it.
I like Tennessee whiskey but I was wrong is my favorite.
I always say, when you can sing the grocery list and make it sound good, you have talent. This man has talent. My nephew used to listen to him. That's where I learned about him.
Whenever I hear CS sing. I get the chills. Literally.
Everytime!
This is one on the only songs can can reduce me to tears. It is one of my favorites.
Absolutely beautiful, I love that he gave credit to his team. And pretty much killed it afterwards
I get the stank face every time I hear CS sing. What a voice and presence.
His cover of James Brown's This Is A Man's World is so totally worth it! Swear to God the man sounds like he belongs on the old Stax label.
Every so often, an artist's voice is so good that it is hard to listen to the lyrics because you are so caught up in the voice's amazing melody. This guy is one of those voices. He could sing ANYTHING and make it sound amazing.
I've never seen this version of Chris singing this song. Thank you for this reaction!! Yes, Chris's voice is amazing!!!
I love that he SANG the introductions of the band. Very unique.
Chris is …..just …..smooth. The man can, and just proved that he can sing the phone book and make it a hit!
“Fire Away” official video is A MUST WATCH!!!!!
Chris Stapleton can even make name introductions sound smooth!! 😆 The man has a voice, no doubt! I’m gonna have to make a live show of his.
Sho,' you right!
David Allan Coe did it first. Then George Jones did it and it got to number 2 on the US charts. They are very different from the Chris Stapleton version.
Wrong lol, more internet nonsense!
@@joesmith3098 nothing he said was wrong...
@@kenyonsgirl415 except that he has been singing his own songs since like 05 lol he was singing with The Steeldrivers for a long time. If you haven’t heard them they are excellent I highly recommend lol
"quite a while back"... 1981... yup, I'm old.
I can't help but hear the Etta James song, I'd Rather Go Blind, in my head every time I hear this song as it's basically the same melody.
My first time hearing original.....OUTSTANDING! I would go see him in concert. 💖
My reaction to this song the first time was pure awe. I am NOT a country fan, but he stole my musical heart
Imagine him doing a duet with Janis Joplin back in the day
OMG.. that would be 🔥🔥🔥
That would be awesome, she was one of my favorite artists
Wow, that's a thought.
Omg yes!!!
That would be amazing
The first time I heard Stapleton sing this song I damned near fell out. There are some singers who are born to do certain songs and I believe this is the case with Stapleton and Tennessee Whiskey. Amazing rendition.
I absolutely love his music. He did a great job singing this with Justin Timberlake at one of the award shows as well.
Literally brings tears to my eyes every single time I hear Chris sing this!!
He sings from such a deep place. It's just perfection. So talented!
Should have watched the CMT live version with him and Justin Timberlake. Wow!! I have never been a fan of country music but Chris Stapleton is just so incredibly talented I totally make an exception.
I hate hollywood, but that performance gave half or more of the audience goosebumps.
Why is JT at CMT?

Chris is SOUL!! I love this guy... he sings about our lives and is just is off the charts AMAZING!! I LOVE this man!!
Makes me proud to be a Stapleton and yes he is my husband's 2nd cousin just love his voice wish my husband could sing like this
The Original was done in the early 80’s by David Allen Coe. Chris Stapleton has written hit songs for YEARS, for so many different artists, but didn’t write this one, he just sings the hell out of it!! His wife actually convinced him to start performing his music and man I’m glad she did!! As you just found out, he is AMAZING!! She is his back up singer, but not on stage here. And yes, he has lots other music!! Glad you like him, he truly is SO TALENTED!!
The original was done by George Jones back in the '70s
Modern Day Kris Kristofferson. Great singer, but Iconic song writer.
@@donnyharris4858 Actually, Chris Stapleton only uses the lyrics from the original song. The music and the melody of Chris Stapleton's version are totally different.
@Donny Harris David Allen Co first sang it in 1981. George Jones took it to #1 in 1983
Almost George Jones song. The Possum lives on !
His ENTIRE album is AMAZING!!! I love this man! His song “Daddy Doesn’t Pray anymore” shredded my soul! His voice is perfect!
That song makes me 🥲
Yes! Talk about a song that stirs your soul!
That’s the song I heard that first turned me on to Chris. Just a heart wrenching song. But I loved it though.
