  • Baldurs Gate 3 Is The latest Role Playing Adventure Game Or RPG in the Baldurs Gate Series a line of games set to replicate the joy of table top D&D and bring them to life in video game form! Today however things have gone wrong as this isnt a perfectly balanced game in the slightest I mean can you beat this entire RPG game with just a montage of stealth kills and summoned allies. Well sit back relax and watch this funny baldurs gate 3 guide where I will be demonstrating how to destroy balance in the games systems by cheesing the stealth and summoning abilities! So what does this funny english bugger have in store for us well it will feature lots of Tea drinking, game exploits and probably a little bit of BDG3 being played normally! Now whilst baldur's gate 3 is a new game that wont stop us from diving into baldurs gate 3 early access and helping the developers with some balancing advice for these brand new baldurs gate 3 classes!
What you have seen here today is part of a fantastic perfectly balanced series on youtube where I go from game to game and break them with wacky exploits to gain things like unlimited gold. If you enjoyed this then be sure to check out more. The style is similar to RT game and callmekevin in parts. A large influence on this series has come from Valefisk and The Killian Experience.
So sit back relax and enjoy this adventure to see if this baldurs gate 3 gameplay proves the game is perfectly balanced or if my stealth only challenge and summon only challenge have broken the game! All Baldurs Gate 3 Combat from this point on is now a walk in the park with your immortal characters!

The summoning exploit is probably this: you summon a creature, take it to a non-hostile NPC, then tell it to attack (CTRL+click). This won't make the target hostile until it dies, at which point its friends attack, and even then they only become hostile towards the summon as long as yoyr character is hiding. After they kill it you can summon another and they won't be hostile. Rinse and repeat, kill off all the NPCs in the goblin camp, the druid grove etc without entering combat yourself

Second, it is not geared towards DnD players, it's geared towards PC players. It's a completely different experience (like any DnD CRPG), see my first point
Third, none of the exploits in the video are possible in PnP (you can't summon unilimited amounts of animal companions as Ranger, improvised weapons always do d4 damage, firebolt doesn't set surfaces on fire if it hits an enemy, NPCs don't act like retards etc). Again, see my first point
I don't think you've actually played DnD if you think Baldurs gate 3 is some sort of accurate DnD simulator heared towards hardcore DnD players, lmao

I know right? Half of the video he’s not even exploiting anything! This is the basic gameplay for most people! For as broken as divinity was, it still was SOOO much more balanced than this!
Like, sneaking takes 4 AP to perform, magic armor can fend off the elements, they looked at all that and was like “We don’t want to balance our game.”
Also, the rag doll situation seems like they tried to make something more realistic compared to “everyone weighs like clouds” rag doll in Divinity, except I’m pretty sure if you don’t optimize the HELL out of it to ensure every small bits on a model works with the system , a high-end rag doll engine can actually do more harm than good. Like what we’ve seen in this video.

DnD 5th edition does have an exploit, though you can't pull it off until level 17 and you have to be a wizard. If you cast Simulacrum, you can make a copy of yourself. Then that Simulacrum can cast Wish to make a copy of you, which can cast Wish and make another copy and so on and so forth until you have infinite copies of yourself.
Another exploit is commonly known as the Coffeelock, though should clearly be the Tealock. It's a combination Warlock and Sorcerer, and can be done with 1 level of Warlock and 1 level of Sorcerer. You can turn the Warlock's spell slot into Sorcery points, turn the sorcery points into a first level spell slot, take a 1 hour short rest to refresh the Warlock spell slot, and repeat with infinite spell slots until you take an 8 hour long rest by falling asleep.

Along the way through absurd luck he'd acquired a Tome of Understanding, and Manual of Bodily Health. Well as part of a rather elaborate trap he was caught in a pocket dimension in the feywild, where time moved at a /very/ accelerated rate. Time normally ends up being wonky in the feywild in a variety of ways but in this instance it was like a super amped up version of the hyperbolic time chamber. Seconds in the real world were centuries in this pocket dimension. It ended up being a solo adventure for him on the side, but it was intended for him to escape fairly quickly, and utilize it later by having the ability to return at will(the exit process involved having a rune branded on his hand that connected him and him alone to this pocket dimension) and just expose him to the reality of what it meant no to age. Except..I realized I could use it to get literally infinite wisdom and constitution. Obviously limitless Con is..cool but the limitless wisdom offered /VERY/ interesting story scenario's. The DM didn't realize this possibility but as a sort of gentleman's agreement if I used it too much I'd roll for insanity effects on my paladin going forward because of how old it would make him.

@@anniedarkheart5224 There are hundreds of ways to balance exploits in D&D. Wasn't trying to imply that it was "unfixable". In our D&D groups/circles, if someone's creative or thinks of something, the DMs will generally reward it by seeing where it goes instead of bringing down a hammer that punishes a creative idea and forces them back onto the train-tracks. The DM could've simply stated that the abundance of magic within the Feywild caused the books to burn up after a single use. Our DM's aren't the type however to punish someone by force killing or forcing an unwinnable situation onto someone just because they get creative with the scenario's around them.

In the tabletop version of the game, ranger kind of blows. Its a fun class but if you want to be a strong mid-late game character, don't play it. Its just a shittier version of fighter that has some really sub par mix of druid spells and unique ranger spells. The 3-5th level spells feel like 2nd level spells...
In the game however, I'm sure it will feel VERY different. I haven't tried it out but tabletop to videogame, classes wont feel the same and also Larian said they were going to revamp the ranger slightly to make it a bit beefier and have a somewhat unique identity.
Give the ranger a try and don't listen to people who tell you not to play it because "fighter is so much betteeeer!" "Its like paladin but worse!".

    "Did no one test this?"
That's.... literally what this early access is for. Larian has been pretty upfront that there will be bugs, there will be crashes, and there will be exploits. Just like with DOS and DOS2, Early Access is a way for them to collect feedback and playtest info.

Once upon a time, a developer would extensively test a game internally (alpha testing) before deeming it mostly bug free and sending it out for beta testing where end-users would try it out. Here we have a developer charging money for an alpha test. Next they'll charge you money to write the game yourself.

@ *finally* someone else who realizes this is game makers being exploitative! you're literally paying for the responsibility to do a job that people used to get paid fulltime for.

    • @TrueCyprien

@ Its not replacing qa testers though, those are still needed to test features and find bugs during developement. Even a semi-finished early access game needs a lot of testing before it can be given to the public. End-user feedback can be extremely valuable to see if people use features as intended, what is used how frequently and their general reception. How often have people complained about stuff during a beta but nothing was changed because its already too late since beta is pretty much a glorified demo? Larian on the other hand has listened to community feedback a lot during the ea of DOS 1+2 and changed or even removed systems that weren't received well.
I get that early access is a slippery slope thats exploited a lot and I personally avoid buying any game before release, but Larian is one of the few examples of how to do it right. They were always super open about their intent and even outright said you shouldn't buy it yet if you expect a polished game.

Are you planning to come back to this game now it's fully released?
There are so many damn exploits you could highlight, for instance the blood of lathendar mace where you can do INFINITE AOE damage on enemies.
Or the secret legendary quarterstaff found in sorceres soundries which let you infinetly replenish your spell slots per turn.
So much wonderful exploits for the spiffing brit to make videos on and I can't wait!

Rangers don't really have the same amount of flair as maybe Wizards Monks but they are incredibly talented in certain situations which yes, can occur situationally or so rarely that makes them less appealing. However, for a role-playing standpoint I feel like Rangers have tons of potential, even if you're not the highest damage output of the party

Their play data and player surveys confirm that too. They are the least played class and the class people are most disappointed with (defined as largest gap between expected and actual enjoyment).
The biggest reason it hasn't received a balance patch, according to the devs, is that they couldn't figure out how to distribute one and it would be confusing to have both OG rangers and revised rangers.

    Love the videos Spiff~
and I unintentionally can make use of this too... (I've got a Boulder I've been Dragging around, so, interesting to see how that goes~
Also... For those who don't know, when an enemy's body 'vanishes' you can hold the Left Alt to Highlight interactables, and still loot them~ ;p
Also, Wood Elves gain a Bonus to Stealth, so a Wood Elf Ranger, can make use of both things... xD
