    • @chi7818
      @chi7818 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      They aren’t really builds at level 5 since you don’t have enough to work with. That being said My favorite starting ones though are
      1) berserk barbarian. 2 throws at level 3, tavern brawler at level 4, 3 throws at level 5.
      2) gloomstalker hunter. 2 weapon fighting at level 2, dread ambusher 3rd attack at level 3 on first turn. Dual hand crossbows of course, but works melee.
      3) college of swords bard. 2 weapon fighting (dual hand crossbows) and slashing flourish ranged (2 attacks) for 3 attacks per round at level 3. Be careful since melee flourish is only 1 hit but it cleaves so ranged is better.
      4) assassin rogue. If you have experience and know where the fights begin, you can set up so many surprise sneak attacks. So sneak attack, initiative starts and you get your actions back, another attack that guarantees crit because enemy is surprised, enemy skips his turn because again surprise, regular combat starts.
      To get the surprise condition on an enemy you have to turn on turn based mode, then attack them without them noticing you, they are surprised after that.

    • @FlameHidden

      Maybe in other DnD versions, but in 5e tabletop it is probably Tasha's Laughter, since it can cause incapacitated status with a level 1 spell.

      @@quint3ssent1aGrease isn’t a concentration spell in 5e. Prone as a condition is also much less threatening in 5e.
      The only thing that prone does in 5e is:
      A prone creature’s only movement option is to crawl, unless it stands up and thereby ends the condition.
      The creature has disadvantage on attack rolls.
      An attack roll against the creature has advantage if the attacker is within 5 feet of the creature. Otherwise, the attack roll has disadvantage.

      Arrange them so there's four dark spots in the circle closest to the entrance, that'll unlock the door at the far end of the room (you can also lockpick a lever on the wall).
      That will lead you to a ladder down to the Selunite Outpost in the Underdark, which is where, on your right as you enter the hall, there's a locked door to a room containing a locked chest. The Storm Sorcery flight thing was something I also discovered naturally - I picked Ritual Caster as my first feat, as long as I’m out of combat I can just keep recasting Speak With Animals to fly infinitely lol
    Edit: Turns out all that's moot: unlike the tabletop game, any spellcaster can cast ritual spells as rituals, so as the person replying to me pointed out, take Feather Fall at first level and you can fly infinitely outside of combat or turn-based mode lol

      It is super easy if you stick to one class and that class is fighter, Eldritch Knight (later respec to champion but that is way later after you get a returning weapon). Throwing build: All you need is a thrown weapon that you bind with EK ability, the throwing ring you buy from the first merchant in the circle, a shield and medium armor, and the feat Tavern Brawler. Enjoy a build that can melee, range, and spellcast that gets 3 attacks at level 11 and has an AC of 22-25 depending on how you build as your progress. Super simple build that can faceroll the game.
      1d6+1d4+6+falling object damage (which sometimes also triggers the 1d4 to be added again) at level 4. You can get more damage but this is the simplest way that requires the least thought/planning before every fight.
      You can go more complicated by downloading the mod that makes sneak attack work properly on thrown weapon attacks and take mix of fighter and rogue levels, selecting assassin for alacrity and sneak attack and a guaranteed crit on unaware targets.

      Yeah this video is for more advanced players or at least after you’ve played a basic first run.
      I’d never played video games (outside of simple ones like animal crossing) and so my friend helped me set it up and set it to easiest mode (explorer) and made my Tav a Druid so I could wildshape if I was low health (and also for healing abilities). I kept it really simple the first playthrough, played it as a “good run”, explored everywhere, found all the loot (became a loot gremlin), helped everyone to get their rewards, killed all the bad guys for their loot, etc.
      Now I’m on my 3rd playthrough and decided to play “bad guy” this time and also play on custom mode so I can make it harder, and now trying to figure out what I want to multi class build into.
      Basically for your first playthrough keep it simple, play on explorer mode and just play for fun. Once you get the hang of it then play a harder/custom level and do all the crazy multiclassing exploits you want.

    If you want the jump build to be able to fight, switch the glaive for the Hamarhraft. I don't exactly know where you get it, but it's quite eraly. Now, when you monk jump without using your bonus action, you get 1d4 thunder damage in an AoE upon landing. Jumping costs 3m movement, so with basic movement+Longstrider (which you should always have), you already have 4d4 thunder damage - unless you have short legs.

    This video is great. 99% of those other build videos are basically, “what do I use to kill the final boss”. there’s no point getting altogether a strong build just to kill the boss.

    Personally my favourite "low level" build in 5e is druid 1/monk 1 (in BG3 you can use nature cleric instead of druid, because all we need there is Shillelagh.) Just pump EVERYTHING into Wis and Dex and you are golden. Your AC now works off Dex and Wis, your attack (with shillelagh) now works off Wis as well, you don't need anything else.
    Wish there was an option to pick a druid cantrip during character creation, like high elves get a wizard cantrip, but oh well.

    • @lordcatpotato
      @lordcatpotato ปีที่แล้ว +3

      that wisdom punch, cleared bg3 without using shillelagh at all, I thought weapons were far much better.. big oof, should've tried that

    • @Hekk.
      @Hekk. ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Monk makes all non-heavy weapons use your Dex for attack and damage rolls though... Why bother focusing around shillelaghs?

      apart from whacking things with a stick you can also cast based on wisdom.

  • @pandoraeeris7860
    @pandoraeeris7860 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You can also take Staff of the Crones and Twin Ray of Sickness essentially as a cantrip - if you're also a Fiendlock, you'll get some temp hp on the kill, and also grab the Ring of Poison Rezist so you take less damage.

    the jump build glaive can also be replaced with the maul from waukeens rest
    pair that with 2lvl's in monk and a level in fighter to get the profiency and you can jump around a bunch doing damage

    JUMP BUILD BONUS: If you grab the Hamarhraft from Waukeen's Rest and toggle the passive, you can cause EVERY JUMP to deal a 1d4 Thunder to enemies near where you land, which with the build would give about ~50 total damage using all jumps on enemies (considering Step of the Wind from 2 Monk spec). You can double down on this playstyle by getting the Moondrop Pendant from the Selunite shrine and keep your health below 50% and you can freely move between enemies

    You can change shadowheart to a life domain cleric and add WARDING BOND to her spells. It lasts until long rest, adds +1 to AC, saving throws and resistance to all damage. It does not require concentration so you can add it to shield of faith and still have it during combat if your concentration is broken

    • @cjnf11
      @cjnf11 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There's no point to cast it from an active party member, you can respec someone from the camp or make a hireling cleric. Or several.
      Unless you expect some constant heavy damage and need to heal your warding bond caster constantly (which usually shouldn't be the case in the early levels).

    a variation of the first build,
    you can go barbarian or monk instead, for unarmored defense to add your Const modifier to your AC,
    get the bracers of defense for +2 AC when unarmored,
    the ring of protection from Mol for +1 AC,
    and the Infernal Robe from mizora for killing karlach for another +1 AC,
    and equip a shield for another +2 AC,
    which you can do pretty reasonably by level 3/4, to put your AC at 22 AC, without any extra buffs,
    for buffs,
    have a teammate cast shield of faith for another 2 AC all day, for 24 AC,
    cast mirror image which there are tons of those scrolls laying around or in shops, for 31 AC, for 10 turns which most combats dont last that long,
    throw in a potion of haste for another +2 ac for 3 rounds(or cast Haste which lasts 10 turns, and you unlock this at level 5), setting your AC with all appropriate buffs to 33, before you ever leave act 1.
    -
    Also for the jumping build you can drink a haste potion to take that 46 meters, and double it for 3 turns.

    If you REALLY can't get enough jumping, there's a maul called Hamarhraft in the burning manor that deals 1d4 thunder damage to everything around you whenever you land. No check, no save, nothing. With Step of the Wind, you can easily pump out Greatsword-level damage.

    My friends talked me into trying BG3 out again after I didn't really gel with it and I'm going for the jump build and its hilarious, I've even found more magical items that increase movement slightly which makes my longest jump cartoonishly long and high. So far though, rather than bonking with a big stick I just shove everyone off of high places for damage and capitalising on that prone status

    that healing build is absolutely genius, yet so simple. I guess i'm going to respec shart into paladin now
    Edit: one way to make it even better, Sanctuary makes your character untouchable, and it's a level 1 Cleric spell. Better yet, it doesn't get lost if you heal someone so you can make your cleric a never-ending one-stop shop for medkits xD
