    Love the way Teddy looks away when he hears his name. 😆 My Lakeland was just the same. 🤗🐕

    One noticeable difference between the WTs and Airedales is that the WTs' ears are always flopped forward.
    I was happy to see all the WTs walking in NYC.

    Our welsh is the same. She is very well behaved and compliant - IF she so desire. If not she is stubborn like a rock.

    My Welsh would get out of bed first and if I didn’t get up, he would come back and start digging the covers off me. I would end up laughing at that point and get up. I miss him!! He was the best dog!

      Awwww, yes they do that too. They much prefer to wake you up, over you waking them up. They have such a lovely playful spirit!!

    Our welsh terrier is the same way. He’ll do anything for food and is very smart and very social and friendly. But he’s a stubborn soul and willful. And getting angry with him just makes him not like me. He’s like “oh forget you”. It’s hard to shame him which is very unlike the black lab we had before. Terrier indeed. There are dogs, cats, and terriers.

    My WT is mostly in charge of me, unfortunately. I would like for him to be able to go out and catch vermin, which of course they were bred for. Possibly they should stock some dog parks with rats, just as they stock lakes and reservoirs with fish. Just an idea, however disgusting.

    • @Yentra163
      @Yentra163 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes Caryl Adams, I wish my WT could chase some rodents, they need an outlet to get all that excess energy and aggression out! :o). Mine is turning nine and he still thinks he is 3. Not a dog for all owners. If you get a WT you better believe that WT is your life.

    The owner needs to be trained other the Welsh Terrier, tone of voice is wrong

    • @Yentra163
      @Yentra163 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't understand...they are tough to train, and they are sooo cuuuute. Their personality is different from any other dog I've had. If you want an easy to train dog get a lab or golden retriever, not a welsh.

  • @Executiveinvestments-
    @Executiveinvestments- 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    this is more like "difference in training". Nothing to do with the breed.

    Airedales have been called "the King of Terriers" and that says a lot. All terriers are killers--that's NOT a knock, they are SUPPOSED to attack and kill game. AT one time, they were THE police dog--do you know WHY they fell out of favor? Unlike German Shepherds, who took their place, they had a bitch of a time getting this breed to break off the attack on command--once they taste blood, they are all over it. One of my friends just lost her medium sized dog with that dog's "pal", and Airedale, who tore her up. Most terrier breeders will tell you in a heartbeat, that terriers just don't get along with other dogs--again, not they are supposed to. They are fighters, and early breeders mixed em with the English Bulldog to get the pit bull TERRIER. People are very naive when they claim "it is all how you raise them"; that's just not true. That's like saying you have to train a cat to kill a mouse--bull. This is a serious breed, but do be careful if you get one. If you insist, be careful if you want a second dog to "mix the sex"--have your big Airedale with a female of whatever breed your second dog is. Two females, or the very worst, two males--and one of them is a terrier of any kind, and you WILL have trouble, like my friend just found out when old Mrs. Airedale killed the other dog. Love em if you want, but don't be a fool either.

      I gree up with airedales and still have one 40 years on! All of my airedales were placid playful dogs and none of them ever attacked any of my other dogs despite other dogs being aggressive with them. I don't understand your negativity about them, in fact you are the first person I've heard say these things. The airedale in this video is obedient and submissive and clearly gets on well with the Welshie.

      I have an 85-90 lb airedale. An oorang. He stood up to a german shepherd at a kennel without biting it although it was snapping at him, but when a border collie pushed out of a gate and came at him he backed as far away as he could from it and put his tail between his legs. So go figure. The way he goes at his toys, I would not be surprised if he tore into a dog that riled him. But he has never bitten another dog yet.He likes to romp with them but the kennel tells me he gets along fine with other dogs at play time. My opinion is that airedales, having otter hound in them, have a little of that terrier edge taken out of them. They lean towards clown. I have had three, and the one female I had was the closest to a fighter of any of them and she was ramming a stray no bigger than her with her shoulder until it snapped at her and then she just followed it as if to say, "I'm watching you, so no tricks." I would imagine some airedales like to mix it up more than I have experienced but mine have been pretty good with other dogs. My current oorang is not overly crazy about strangers though.
