- Hi Everyone,
Here is Tommy's 6 month update! He has grown so much since the last video when we brought him home for the first time! I'm sharing clips and our experience on what its like to have an Airedale Terrier puppy. I cant wait to continue watching him grow!

I’ve owned 3 Airedales and taught each of my dogs to ring bells hanging on the back door they needed to go out. They are great family, companions, and guard dogs.

I'm on my 5th one! Absolutely love them! Has he started training YOU yet? If not, wait for it....this breed is not for everyone....must have sense of humor, LOTS OF LOVE and patience! Congratulations on your Airebaby!!!!
I'm an electrical contractor and have raised two Airedales (at different times) as truck dogs. I would throw my boys in the backyards of my clients, with their dogs, and they got along great, no alpha issues. At the end of the work day we would go to the nearest dog park to release energy and socialize. They are great dogs for camping, will guard your food against bear and mine would ride on my Jet Ski. When my daughters were young, they would dress the dogs in tutus and put hair scrunchies around their ears. My Airedales loved the attention! Consistency is the key to training, they are stubborn because they are SMART. They ran circles around my friend's inbred labs and ALWAYS came when I whistled, without fail. Tommy makes me miss mine but it's so nice to see him growing up! Thanks for sharing Maria!

I’ve had 8 Airedale’s and a welsh terrier. One of my favorite breed of dog, I recommend putting a squeaky toy under a pile of blankets and pillows, it keeps them busy and teaches them to find things

I have owned 4 Airedales 3 females (Large mountain bred) and one normal size male.All were great dogs and I miss them soooo much! The male was the most stubborn and goofy of them all.Great guard dog for sure.

Nice looking boy. I've had four of them in the past. Very clownish, enjoys making us laugh. Need to be the boss as they like to test limits. Are good guard dogs but can get along with people and other dogs. Fun energetic breed.
... being a dog ... he just wants to belong to a pack ... you or he can be alpha ... but one of you has to be ... just how things run better in a dog's mind ...

They are the best breed hands down. My Bentley is the 3rd and last as I and my husband are aging and the breed is very strong both mind and body. He will be 4 on November 29th. Bentley has a little bit of all 3 of my guys, who have been gone 10 and 4 years. Miss them both. Enjoy your guy. They are priceless!

Your video is just what I needed. My Airdale, Jett past away just a few weeks ago. He was my constant 24/7 companion for the past 12 years. I miss him so much, thank you for sharing Tommy with all of us.
We've had 3 Airedales. One in doggy heaven and 2 with us now. They are so loyal and funny. They always make me laugh. They also seem to sense my moods. When I'm sad, they come and stay right next to me.

Great video! My sister is picking up her puppy in 3 weeks. She had a female for years, who was with us for a long time. Now she's getting a boy. We're all excited! Ginger was a chewer, a bunny killer and a runner! Always BUSY!!! Enjoy!
My family have always had Airedales, right back to my grandfather. Some of have been very affectionate and loved to be hugged and cuddled, and others not so much, but they have all been loving and loyal.
Nice job with this video. I have two now and will never be without at least one. Best breed ever! So entertaining, loving, and brilliant.

Our 3.5 yr old goes to doggy day care,he cannot wait to go , but he is really happy to see us when he gets back.Careful with mud it can get stuck in their webbed feet.Potty training did click quite early ,but now he will give you a nudge in the night if he wants to go out.Enjoy your dog you will be rewarded in lots of ways ,cheers from UK.

I have a 4yo male Airedale... he's my 5th one as my parents bought one when I was 6yo and I have been in love with the breed ever since. You made a great choice, that dog will love you guys, protect you, make you laugh and help you through the worst life throws at you. 2yo he will chill out, so forgive his puppy ways as his mischief levels will taper out at 2 if he's well trained. Your son must love having that pup, I know my Airedale's were my sidekicks all through my childhood, the brothers I never had.

My Airedale is now 6 years old. When he was young he ate the carrot nose off my snowman. He also chewed the Holly on it’s hat. He has chewed lots of stuff and n his youth. Airedale’s have to be supervised tall times. LOL! Turbo is the love of my life. He runs agility and does obedience. It’s definitely a breed that needs a job. They have to stay busy. ❤️
I just got an Airedale puppy a couple days ago. He’s 7 weeks old and I didn’t really know anything about that breed or puppies. Doing my research now haha. He was an unexpected Christmas gift. Man your pup is big at 6 months!
We have had 2 airedales. We lost Mattie when she was 12 and now have Maggie who is 3. Keeps you alert and going!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰
Smooch. Yes to the high verbal IQ. Ours seem to ease drop knowing when we’re going somewhere. We have a bell on door nob it was decorative but they were curious and got it!!
Our male had same testicle issue & a hernia too. Great haircut! You’ll find it’s a challenge to find a groomer. Great new family member and yes affection on their terms. Ours tolerate all kissing & hugs. He’s beautiful all your attention will play off.

He is such a beautiful boy. I had a Lakeland Terrier many years ago, who looked like a miniature version of Tommy. Along with the Welsh Terrier, they make a trio of handsome breeds. ♥️👌

I have had (5) Airedales. I just lost my baby a year and a half ago . There is nothing like an Airedale. To me a house is not a home without an Airedale. I have been looking for another Airedale and really have had no success. Please let me know where you got yours? I'm lost without my baby. She was everything. She had her own fan club. I dressed her. The bond we had was so strong unlike anything I ever experienced before. My other dogs and I were bonded but my Nelly she was one of a kind. To have an Airedale come through my door again would be the greatest gift I could receive. Good luck with Tommy he iui s so precious. My baby loved bells. I would put them on the door and on the Christmas Tree so she could ring them and she did. I still do it in memory of her. There was a sign in her vets office that said "Dogs are not our life they are part of our life" That was wrong for me she was my life I had nothing else or noone..

I know finding a purebred airedale is hard to find. I found a breeder in Oklahoma thru tje AKC website. Good luck and hope you find your next fur baby soon! Thank you!
Kountry dales to find an airedale. In home bred not a kennel. I've gotten both mine through this breeder. She's a very responsible knowledgeable breeder.
I got my aero-pup s through Airdale Terrier Rescue Association, ATRA.

I’d heard over and over that Airedales were Not for everyone, so I did LOTS of research (before we got our first Airedale 3 years ago.) I knew they were smart/independent like all terriers but especially needed a firm but gentle hand. I’d had other terriers before so I thought it couldn’t be That much difference.
Not once did I read anything about their general “lack of cuddliness,” so I think that’s great you brought it out. I wonder if that’s a reason some people give them up...
But you are so right! even if not particularly “cuddly” there is no doubt that they love their family so very much! We’ve never had a dog like her!! 💝 I think she makes us laugh almost every day. It’s hard to explain to someone exactly what it is about them...I think you have to have one to really understand what it is.

Thank you so much 💓 omg yes its so hard to describe what it's like having an airedale until you actually own one. And yes Tommy makes us laugh EVERY day 😆 I actually posted a video on my channel when we first picked him up from the breeder and talk about how we decided but really i had a friend who owned one and i just thought they were so beautiful looking! So i did more research and it just seemed like the perfect fit for our home 😁

We have had 2 females & 2 males. The males, especially the one we have now is very cuddly. The others all wanted some alone time.
I love Airedale terrier’s bc my Airedale started talking to me at 5 years old and their so cute tommy looks so handsom⭐️😊
Welshies are definitely lap dogs and my Winston always squeezed in my chair to sit with me! 😂
Great dogs! I’m on my third Airedale. Positive reinforcement for them. They don’t do well with negative reinforcement.

Agreed. We have two young Airedales and you have to be gentle and firm with them. Smart but also stubborn. Try Barn Hunt! They excel at that sport.
True. It’s hard to out stubborn them sometimes... but if you have something they want, maybe a treat or two, they will do things with a hilarious amount of gusto💨

Our Airedale’s name is Watson. We walk him at least 3 times a day for a total of an hour or more. We are absolutely in love with him. ❤️
He is all Airedale-nice guy but yes a handful! all joy though

That's wild, our boy had to have this done also. I had never heard of another dog only having one testicle drop before watching this cute video. Ours is 4 and definitely has a few less male tendencies (marking) than other males I've seem but I'm not complaining!

My Airedale loved the door bells, not sure if I did, She'd see anything outside and run to ring the bells - which was always. I got rid of them.
Airedales are the best :D Don't understand why they have such a bad rep. By far the easiest dog I have trained in obedience and search and rescue.
I wouldn’t say bad rep ...... very busy dog that high prey drive .... a lot of go ..... everyone s different right .... working dogs r us
Airedales make good service dogs for autism. Mine is perfect and was so easy to train. He has never pottied in the house. He is trained to help me follow my daily schedule and even tells me to go to bed.

9:36 Wow. He looks grown up but he’s still a puppy. 😂 He’ll probably chill out as he grows up. Hopefully he’ll cuddle when he’s older. 🤞🏻 I’ve seen lapdales on instagram but who knows if they cuddle often.

We’re on our second set up of dales. I find them quirky. Each has had their level of affection. They’re pretty independent. All will be close by but not on top of you. When we come home it’s a song & dance. TH-cam has plenty of those videos. We had a 236 lb English mastiff that was more of a lap dog than our dales. Great family dogs.
Wait till he hits the terrible 2's. basically a teenage boy. will be mature at 3. never let him get away with growling at you. make sure you can put your hand in his bowl while he is eating. as far as a guard dog you have the best guard dog on the planet.

@@MariaOrtiz-rj7tf didn't mean to scare you. you will be fine. some of the really silly kid stuff he does now he will stop doing. when i got my first airedale there was no internet only what i could find at the public library. i am on number 6 now and he will be 3 this spring. his buddy is a doubullmastiff weighs in at 155 pounds. my airedale is the biggest one i have had at 90 pounds. with 245 pounds of dogs waiting for that first intruder i sleep comfortably at night. do you play fetch with your dale? most of them love to retrieve just about anything they can drag back to you. do your research on airedales and learn what they are all about. airedale was on the titanic. john wayne got his name the duke from his childhood airerdale . airedales used by both sides in WW1 . at least 2 presidents had airedales. they came to america at the beginning of the twentieth century. they were first used to hunt grizzly bears and mountain lions. amazing dogs !

It's a large. I bought one that's is 42 inches on amazon
My family and I are looking at this breed. We have 3 old Yorkies now and these seem like basically a large yorkie. We live in rural area with quite a few acres, so not worried about getting exercise as we spend a lot of time outside. My only concern and question to you is. Can they be mean or bite by there nature/genitics? Also where did you get your dog at? We would be willing to travel if need be. Thank you for the video

I didn't realize this was the same Airedale puppy. When Tommy was a puppy, he had dark markings on his face and head. Now, those are gone. Did he change over time? The reason I ask is, I am in the process of picking a puppy with a breeder. If the beautiful dark markings fade, maybe I will make my choice differently.

... get the potty bell .... I first used a wedding bell from a wedding I attended ... on a kite string at first ... but after a few weeks he knew if he herd the bell the door was open ... and if he wanted the door open to go out he only had to ring the bell ... and I would show up or someone would ... and open this door for me ...
...and hope you brush his teeth ...

What are Airedales like off the leash? We have always had mutt dogs from the shelter who we would get and they would just 'hang around' with no danger of them running off... what are Airedales like?
Honestly I think it depends on the owner and leash training and where you live. We live in an area where there are lots of rabits so he goes crazy when we go on walks now. He pulls alot
@@MariaOrtiz-rj7tf should have done your research on Airedale’s. They are outdoor alpha animals, not city dogs they belong on farms. Mine is 110 pounds runs 5 miles a day on the farm. They don’t like to social with other dogs. They are one family protectors by genetics

How much does he weigh at 6 months old?
I have a 4 months old female Airedale that weighs around 22 pounds.
At 6 months he was about 39-41 pounds. I'm expecting him to weigh between 55-60 pounds when he's fully grown.

Ur Airedale is the same age as my baby Airedale just mine is a girl
My current Dale had sane testicle issue. Get a great vet they cut him like 5x looking for it! Butchered him up! He’s fine he’s 10 and just fine. They Want ACTIVE affection but I’ve never had a lap Dale. They’ll sleep alongside you but never be a Lab.
Oh gosh!! 😳 I'm very nervous about the surgery, I hope they find it quickly! I think I've found a good vet so fingers crossed.
Haha yes he just started cuddling a little more but doesnt last very long 😅
