And also lying and bad communication in a relationship. Let's not forget that Simon used her lack of knowledge to his advantage by telling her that he couldn't have kids when in fact he just didn't want any. But instead of telling her that nad allowing her to make a decision based on the truth, he lied, had her give up on her deepest dream of becoming a mother out of love for him and he keeps telling himself that it's ok? The scene is a cautionary tale for : what a lack of sex ed and communication can do. How damaging dishonesty can be in a relationship. The damage disregarding your partners hopes, dreams and needs can do (this happens on both ends). What parental neglect can do. The dangers of a huge power imballance between partners. The kind of rash mistakes young people are prone to makeing because hormones. How important taking into account consent and mental health is. There are so many things to talk about here. I'm kinda frustrated that all I see people talking about is the consent issue because while it's important, the other issues are as well. And let's be honest: these are all issues we don't teach kids enough about.
@@mariaefstratiou7427 I mean that is obviously true but within the world/plot of the book they know sh*t. I do agree with you though: When you think about it, it doesn't make sense that they know absolutely nothing.
@@mariaefstratiou7427 they literally knew nothing, unless an older cousin or servant shared the information upon marriage. Bookshops during that era were segregated and sex books were stocked in shops catering to men, so weren't accessible to females.
How would you comment on the scene where he kicks her stomach consciously while she's hiding under his desk or not accepting her one week before having sex as she was a scared virgin?
@@FreedoPan I always saw Kate being hesitant to have sex for the first time not because she didn't want to, but because she thought she was going to fall in love and Anthony wouldn't love her. Kate herself says: “If she looked into her own soul, and looked with honesty and without delusion, she was forced to admit that she did not wish to wait, either. For what could be the point? Maybe he would never love her. Maybe his desire for her would never be focused as single-mindedly on her as hers was for him. ” Anthony himself asks if any men have harassed her and that was his reaction: “She looked up, and the concern and terror on his face nearly made her heart melt.” so I doubt that if she had insisted on not having sex he would have forced her😃
@@FreedoPan you mean when she is literally biting his leg and he can't tell her to stop bc if she is discovered she is ruined? n also i will agree i don't like when he tells her no but then he behaves wonderful he never forces her he waits for her to say yes , the book is not perfect but historical romances rarely are
My ranking: 1. The viscount who loved me 2. On the way to the wedding 3. It’s in his kiss 4. When he was wicked 5. An offer from a gentleman 6. To sir Phillip with love 7. Romancing mr. Bridgerton 8. The duke and I
I loved Benedict’s story. I thought it would be a basic Cinderella story, but it was so much more, and it brought the best of Violet to the light. I cried a lot reading it, from sadness and from happiness too. Definitely recommend.
I find it super interesting how you didn't understand why Anthony was so sure he was going to die young because for me, I lost my father when I was 17, and I never even questioned it. I had no idea that was a common thing for people who lost a parent young. How fascinating!
Same... my father committed suicide at 23 and me being the eldest child in my family and depressed... I always just assumed I would never make it past my 23rd birthday. When I made it into the "27 club" I was completely shocked!
Same thing happened to my husband who’s father died young. He didn’t really plan out his life because he didn’t think he would live past 23, then he made it past that milestone and we got married the next year.
The same with me. My parents died young, my father died in his early 30s and my mother died because of cancer. For some reason, i always imagine myself if i get married, my husband might be died early and somehow i can see my future being really sick. That's why, his fear is very relatable for me and i get a little pissed off knowing they add some romance background with the opera actress.
I totally agree. My father died a few days before my 25th birthday and I certainly think I'll not be around for a long time... It's heartbreaking from time to time, but time will tell, I guess ...
When he was Wicked was also a favorite of mine. Just loved Michael so much! Hated that he stayed away for 4 years, my heart went out to both of them. The Duke and I also stuck out in my mind. Hated Simon’s father being so cruel. But loved Simon’s determination to overcome his speech problems. Loved that Daphney was such a strong person. Anthony and Kate was also adorable laugh out loud funny! Loved Bennedict and Shopie’s story too. She was just so sweet and deserved better. Colin was my favorite of the Bridgerton men being so charismatic and funny! I loved that he fell in love with Penelope who secretly loved him all along. Gregorey and Lucy’s story was adorable too. Very heartfelt and action packed. Loved Garreth’s character, and his getting to know Hyacinth. The Bridgerton girl who was outspoken and scared most men away. Also loved Lady Danbury throughout the whole series. She is such strong, funny tell it like it is lady. Eloise and Phillip’s story was also adorable. Eloise was amazing dealing with Phillip and his children! I loved the whole series and it is very hard to say which was my favorite to least favorite. Also would highly recommend the Smithe- Smith series. So very funny and amazing leading men and women. Bridgerton’s do make an appearance in these Great story lines! Love all Julia Quinn’s books!
I've read 4 books in the series yet and it's been so long since i did. I actually wasn't interested for Eloise's story so that's why i haven't read but now as u say Francesca's is the best... it's time for me to pick up bridgerton again.
@@Snowhite-tx4sm you should read Eloise's story...she is not so much self centred as they have shown in the series...in fact it is my favourite book along with Anthony's story in the series.
The first 2 books have REALLY similar story flow - kinda dont like each other then kinda do - get caught compromised - forced into marriage - some psychological issue causes the man to run away - said man comes to realisation he is a twat -runs and saddles his own horse when he finds out his wifey is gone out and goes after her - she is in an accident of some sort I still love the books but was surprised how similar they were
Omg! Yes! I feel the same. Probably why I don't hold Book 2 in the same high regard as majority of the fandom. It's still good. But it's not my favorite. It's somewhere in the middle. Probably because I felt like I was reading a rewrite of the first book. So everything felt the same. But then again, Book 1 also isn't my favorite. But I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the similar plotlines.
@@Ellie60091 My favorite is actually the fandom's iffy books which are 1. AOFAG, 2. TSPWL, and 3. WHWW. Similar top three to this video. Hahahaha I know the fandom doesn't like how Benedict offered for Sophie to be his mistress but if we just consider the time period, it was a really good offer for someone in her stature. And in the end, he actually decided to marry her, social consequences damned. And this was before he found out she was the lady in silver. AOFAG showed character growth for Benedict in that regard.
@@jojobyun185 Did you hear her review of "To Sir Phillip with Love?" Eloise Bridgerton writes a letter of condolence to Sir Phillip after his wife's death. She visits him at his home and eventually marries him. We don't know how closely the Netflix series will follow the storyline of any of the books, but Marina's future looks bleak.
My fiances friend group have something kind of like this and it weirded me out at first, but all of the friends named all of their first borns with "A" names... it's cute! Don't get me wrong! I just already had my first born and now we are having a hard time conceiving... so it's been tough on me. Ayla Aiden Ava Alexis Axle Also I have no idea what I would even name our child! So any cute A names!! Please leave below!! That I have not listed! Those are taken.
I have friends who’s names both start with “Br” and when they had kids, they named all three of their kids starting with “Br” too. Brett, Britney, Bryanna, Brian & Brooklyn. In my family, my husband and sons all have different lettered names but all the names have the same meaning, so most people don’t notice, but it’s special to me. Their names all mean “Gift from God”, and that’s what they are to me.
My top 3 is 1. Anthony’s story 2. Francesca’s story 4. Hyacinth’s story But I really loved all of them and I’m just want to read them for the first time again☺️
Francesca’s book is my number 1, and Eloise’s book is my number 2 as well! 👏🏻 I agree that The Duke and I is the worst book of the series, and I’ve been telling everyone who wants to read the series now that they’ve watched the show to just make sure they keep going after book 1 because the series gets progressively better from there!
The Duke and I is the first book of the series and it was written at a time when certain tropes were the norm. As I once explained to someone who, self-righteously announced how she didn't read romance novels, the romance genre entered the 'me too' era before the greater society got it; you can see where the stories started changing to be less misogynistic- about 15 years ago- which may not be historically accurate but makes for better reading.
The Duke and I is pretty good I think , even if I don’t agree with certains choices of the book but I think definitely that the tv show handled this matter better in the book.
I think what was touching about benedict and sophie's romance was sophie's development and the acceptance of the bridgerton's choice regarding benedict choosing sophie over reputation. I guess it feels kinda "classic" too because of the whoke cinderella trope? And maube because this was my intriduction to the whole series. Havent read hyacinth's or gregory's sotries yet though. Didnt know they'd be action packed hehehe. Tnx for reviewing!
Colin and Penelope's was far my favorite idk why but everything was interesting the moment they begun to fight because it made Colin realize he could only have that type of anger when it concerned Penelope. Eloise story is not what I have expected I do love her that's why I kept reading but why did it feel lacking? Like she deserved a more action packed love story? Specially that her character was so iconic on the netflix adaptation I can imagine some disappointments from other viewers who did not read the books and would see her love story a little bit plain and lacking of some more chemistry.
Hearing that the Bridgerton family's head of household (Violet's husband) died if a bee sting explains why there is a bee hovering by the door knocker in the very first episode of the show!
You're missing one book which is a compilation of second epilogues to each story plus a story on Lady Violet, it is called Bridgerton Happily Ever After and I think it's going to be re-edited soon in the US (I'm not from the US so I'm not 100% sure). The book was published in Spain for the first time in december second epilogue of Francesca's story had me in tears, it was perfect. And then again Lady Violet's story is so heartbreaking but at the same time so full of light and hope... I definitely recommend that book, it is the perfect ending to the series as a whole
Thank You for showing love to On The Way To The Wedding. Most fans of the book series always want to talk bad about that book. But it was such a good book and I loved Gregory and Lucy as a couple. Gregory fighting for love was the best thing. He wasn't afraid like his older brothers, which was such a nice change
Despite not being a fan of Regency romances I watched the first Bridgerton series and have now read Julia's entire catalogue which I've very much enjoyed. The Bridgerton prequels are also easy to read, as are the other stories. I'm hoping Netflix will continue with the genre and Julia's books.
My favourite was Francesca’s book. I loved how sure she was of herself and how she wasn’t scared to take control over a situation. My least favourite was actually Eloise’s book as I just really didn’t like Philip and their relationship. It felt too forced to me and like he only wanted to have a mother for his kids and not to work on himself.
Honestly this series is the best ever. I do love all of them. But Colin and Fancesca's books are my favorite. There are so beautiful. The taught us that love the true one might take some times some years to come out but one day it'll come out. Patience is the key.
I also liked When He Was Wicked the best. Then I'd rank Romancing Mr. Bridgerton and The Viscount Who Loved Me second followed by It's in His Kiss (I love Lady Danbury) and then To Sir Philip with Love. I abandoned An Offer from a Gentleman about where Sophie got kicked out of the house, but that was years ago. I never read the other two, so now I'm trying to read the entire series if they're going to do the show, but I've only gotten through When He Was Wicked. All I have to say is that they better have the mallet of death and the Bridgerton rules of Pall Mall when they get to the Viscount Who Loved Me as that was probably my favorite scene in the book.
I just finished "To Sir Philip w/Love" and am about to dig into "When He was Wicked". I appreciate your ratings, and your opinions of the first 5 books aligns highly with mine!
The viscount who loved me is the bestttt book out of the 8...they did brought up the best in each other and worked on their traumatic experience together....Anthony and Kate are the bestt
You probably will enjoy book 9 ( Violet's story) and the 4 prequels all set before 'The Duke & I' in the late 1780's and are called the Rokesby series but are definitely Bridgerton prequels. And I really like them all very much
This is the first of your videos I’ve watched and I really enjoyed your review. I have never listened to a book review that pointed out triggering images or topics to the reader. Thank you
I love how from Anthony to Gregory books go in alphabetic order and only Daphne is like "Yeah, no. It's my debut year and I crearly want romance more then brothers. Anyway yeah I'll go first losers"
I loved "when he was wicked too". I didn't expected it to be. It was definitely a refreshing story for Francesca being a widow and Michael reforming as a Rake on his own rather than just giving up the lifestyle for marriage.
@@voulafisentzidis8830 I mean he spent the two years Frannie and John were married trying to forget about her by having mistresses sooo... Oh AND he is a notorious flirt. He flirts with Francesca's mother even! So he certainly looks like a rake from the ton's pov
@@elenaj6134 I think he flirted with her mother because she's Francesca's mother. Even boasting about his many women was for Francesca's sake. In my view, someone who pines that long for someone would find it difficult to be with others but, of course, I could be wrong.
I loved colin's character in each one of the books he was so amazing and funny😂😂. But to sir phillilp with love and when he was wicked are my favorites from this series
It’s been so much fun re-reading the whole series, I just love the family so much! And it’s so difficult to choose a favorite but my top three would have to be. When He Was Wicked, an offer from a gentleman and The Viscount Who Loved Me. Though my heart always goes to Michael Stirling 😍.
You mention the frequently-noted change of the Whistledown reveal from book 4 to the end of season 1 in the show, but almost no-one points out the inclusion of the foreshadowing / mini-prequel of book 5 into the show. Sir Phillip Crane marrying Marina (in the finale of season 1) is of course the precursor to the unhappy couple at the start of book 5.
I’m not sure if I mentioned that in this video, but I definitely did in my show review video! That was definitely a shock and I was so excited to see Phillip since he’s one of my favorite heroes!
Your ranking is the same as mine! I was looking forward to Romancing Mr Bridgerton but I felt like it didn't have that much spark between the two characters. Also I didn't think Colin really had cause to complain. Francesca's book and Eloise's book are my favorites too! Francesca's was so steamy and I love Scotland. I wish the Bridgertons went to their wedding! I love Sir Philip too. He's sensible and just needs help with his kids.
I watched the first season by Monday to Tuesday and I HAD to continue with the books! So I'm on "To Sir. Philip with love" already, it's addictive!! I loved it and I can't believe I didn't knew about them before! But that's ok, means there's a lot of good books or sagas yet to discover!! Kisses from Uruguay 🇺🇾
Great review. I love that everyone has a reason for choosing their favourites Francesca story as the forgotten child who was so independent but guilt ridden about love Gregory who was ready to fight for love no matter the consequences Colin love for writing and travelling shared with a friend. Probably the most stable love Benedict a cinderella story with a reality check Anthony found his match with a lady of strong mind and firm foundation. Putting his fear of death to ease Hyacinth finding love through mystery solving Daphne make pretend dating turn real marriage. Showed the difficulty of first year marriage and knowing love and communication are needed Eloise, not my favourite. A lady whose dreams were all talk finds a home with a widower and father.
Still reading the series , however my favorite so far Is Anthony’s story , although it takes forever for him to realize his feelings for kate when he does its in an instant and about a page only for him to do so , while over half the book he’s still not wanting to love her .
Is it just me but I found Kate and Anthony's story the least revetting, I feel like so much could've been done with Anthony's character. The story after watching the show I was most excited for was Collin and Penelope, I can't wait to see what the series does with the story. Also, Eloise as an individual character was the most interesting. PS: I've read only upto Colin's book, can't wait to read the rest.
I love Anthony's book because of Kate, but Anthony in the book is not a likable character to me. He didn't have any character development. He started as an elitist, patriarchal and condescending to women and remain that way throughout book.
I have two more books left and so far Francesca's and Eloise's books are my favorites. The characters had more depth which made for a more interesting read. The women were not one dimensional but more complex.
My mother died when she was fifty (similar to her mother). I am approaching forty and I have some infertility problem ( I have one daughter that I waited for 9 years but still wanted one more :) ) and I am about to give up because I worry what will happen if I die early like my mother ... So not exactly like Anthony as I am hoping to live more but it is affecting my decisions for sure.
Oh I'm so sorry for you... Try to live your life like you want no matter what could happen, I know it's hard but that's all we have as human I think...
The Sir Phillip character was the guy who married Marina the woman who tried to trap Colin in the first season of Bridgeton…he’s the same character that Colin meets when he goes off to see how Marina is settling into her marriage… in season 2. The books are a little different from the TV show!
It is unfortunate that women feel.entitled to ther emotions and want people to underatand, but when a man has the same feelings we want him.to get over it. In book 3, Sophie was adamant and it got a 5 review. In book 4 Colin had his issue and it was again said to be frustrating. We really need to understand that because they are men it doesn't mean that they don't have they own issues. Also because they are men we tend to think that they should suck it up.and deal with it, which is not fair.
1 to sir Phillip with love ❤️ 2 an offer from a gentleman 3 when he was wicked 4 duke and I 5 romancing mister Bridgerton 7 on the way to the Wedding 👰 8 it’s in his Kiss 😘 BUT I just love it 😍❤️
I'm late but if you haven't already you should read the Bridgerton second epilogues. Lots of great content in them, including Penelope telling Eloise her secret. :)
Love this video ❤️ I’ve decided to finish the books before starting the tv series. This video totally helped me on deciding which ones to pick up from my local book store 📚 I gotta say, you became my favorite book tuber this year, there’s not one video I do not enjoy/look forward from your channel.
I just bought the first two books. I was VERY adamant about not getting the book they made for the show and find the original. SOOOOOOO hard to find right now. I’m still waiting for them to arrive.
I was super excited to colins book (i just finnished) i think it was more focused on covering who was lady w and penelope... i ended up wanting to know more about Colin
i ranked them very similarly. loved an offer from a gentleman, have you read the Rokesby prequel books? you’ll love The Other Miss Bridgerton i think! ❤️
Thank you for putting my top 3 in your top 3. Though it's not the same order, I'm glad I'm not alone 😭 I know majority of the fandom have Book 2 as their favorite but it's also kinda bottom half for me. But it was still a great read though 😁
Well, i am fans of historical romance books, and Julia Quinn is one of my favorit author. Her series is so famous, it's not really surprising they make it to tv series in Netflix. By far my favorit is It's in His Kiss and Sir Philip..i hope the tv series can make the story in the books alive
When you said the last two books are the least Bridgerton-y, I agree! Maybe it was because we were introduced to them as kids or maybe it was the time jump or because we've already read 6 books prior. But they were still great! And I wholly agree with your ranking of book 8 😊
I just finished 'When he was wicked' ale I loved it just as you did 😁 I sill have 2 more books to finish the series but for now my ranking would be 1. When he was wicked(6) 2. An offer from a Gentleman (3) 3. Romamcing Mr Bridgerton(4) 4. The Duke and I (1) 5. The discount who loved me(2) 6. To Sir Phillip, with love (5)
@@SheLovesTheMovies in my opinion you can, because each book is around main 2 characters, u will have small spoilers but they won't containe any secial details :)
I never read historical romance until I saw Bridgerton and thought...why not, Im like half way through the Duke and I-and im in LOVE. But I know one scene will drop my rating way down ...:( But I will continue the series :) Very happy with this new genre opening for me. p.s. I like the meet cute in the book better than the tv show personally!
About Anthony: i have an uncle that lost all of his best friends tragically (they all died super young, 3 friends in different ways) and after that he was sure he was going to die before he completed 40 years of age. It didn't happen, but at the time he was very anxious and depressed, just like Anthony.
My mom told me she knew someone where that happened to them too! And they were sure they would die like their parents. I don’t know that trauma personally, so I had no idea that’s how it would affect children who lose parents early on. I’m glad that Julia had put a note about it at the end to explain that specific life experience.
I had a friend who's father died in a car crash when he was 20, thought the same thing would happen to him. He was 2 years old and his younger brother was inutero.😫
I think it's important to note that the "scene" you're talking about between Daphne and Simon was written over 20 years ago at this point - consent was just not something that was as talked about and not as "defined" as it has become in this day and age. Also, we are meant to put ourselves in the shoes of Daphne in that time period, not this one - wherein your husband (especially one being a Duke) could banish you to a whole other country if he wanted to. I personally don't have a problem with it when it's put into perspective. (I'm writing this from my husband's account - I am a female fan & reader).
I agree, he also lied to her, manipulated her and used her lack of knowledge and sexual education against her. She gave up on her dream of becoming a mother because she loved him and wouldn't fault him for not being able to have kids but he lied to her because he didn't want to talk about it or chance her changing his mind and ruin his revenge (against a dead man I might add!). It's kinda understandable that a young woman (still a teen or 21 at the most - been a while don't remember her exact age) would react in a rash, bad and not thought out manner after she finds out that the husband she is totally dependant on lied and manipulated her. Is it still bad? Yeah! But 1) As bad as it sounds, it seemed like a quite realistic way for things to play out sadly. And 2) I'd rather we use it as a conversation starter than as a thing to be absolutely outraged about. It's not conductive and I'd rather we stress the importance of all the mistakes leading up to this scene as well: A lack of education, bad communication and dishonesty. These are all important things if you want to be a responsible (sexual) adult. But let's also talk about consent and psychology. Let's talk about the dangers of power imballance between partners. Let's talk about all of it.
I’m about to start Colins story. I’m thinking the first book is going to remain my favorite. Anthony’s and Benedict’s story are really good. But Simons story just gets me beyond emotional. His story for me was triggering. If you grew up in a Caribbean household then you might understand 😂
Your review isn't too bad. It's the slant towards the modern puritan view that bites at these wonderful books. It's getting more and more difficult to find reviews that don't apply 21st-century ideals to previous time periods.
Every time someone mentions the scene in book 1 I get annoyed. We keep forgetting it happened in the 19th century. Women had no agency then and many times had to trick their husbands. I don’t agree with it but we have remember that things were handled differently then.
My mum died when I was 11 and I'm still convinced I'll die young in the same way. I don't want to have children because I don't want to leave them without a mother so I completely understood Anthony's obsession with his own death.
am i the only one disappointed by how aggressive colin was in the book? mans literally hurt penelope's arm when he found out she published the last letter
I admire your idea of review 8 books in one sitting. Well done!! And thank you!! Yet, personally I would have enjoyed it more if you had divided it into two sessions and not rushed your speaking to get everything in. After all, they are long and enjoyable books.
I've only read up till book four, but my favourite ones right now are Anthony's and Colin's books just because I love Kate and Penelope sooo much and Coling is such a goofball that it's always fun to red scenes with him. I must agree with you on the first book - I love Simon but the book wasn't that interesting in comparison to the rest I've read and I just didn't like THAT SCENE (although I loved Simon's struggle with his stutter and woul've loved it explored more in the tv show but oh well). I can't wait to finish the series now that I have time to read, because based on what you've said it only gets better!
I read the first two a few years ago. I didn’t feel the need to continue with the series, but you have given me hope for the rest of the series. I might have to continue.
What happens with Daphne and Simon is certainly a cautionary tale on not teaching your daughters literally anything about sex.
It made no sense that the girls didn't have sex education, since the vast majority knew that sex was a thing!( without details)

I love Anthony! I’m in love with him, I’m so exited for season 2!!!!!!! I’m currently reading the book of Colin and so far I like it!
Me too! I am in love with Anthony ie Chuck Bass! I also love Colin he is Nate Archibald!
What were the first 2 Bridgerton books that you read ?
I find it super interesting how you didn't understand why Anthony was so sure he was going to die young because for me, I lost my father when I was 17, and I never even questioned it. I had no idea that was a common thing for people who lost a parent young. How fascinating!

I read all 9 books in 5 days. I just couldn’t stop myself. I think my favorite was also Francesca’s book.
She was not on the show and I wondered what her story would be
can u plz tell me how many kids each of the siblings are going to have
@@shanvikki553 it makes sense that she is not on the show, but I want her to be more present in future seasons than in the books.
@@mansura5409 Anthony 4, Benedict 4, Colin 4, Daphne 5, Eloise 5, Francesca 2, Gregory 9, and Hyacinth 2
@@paulacadena8334 wow
Sir Phillip was by far my favorite novel. I just love the sun shine and the grump bear dynamic between the two of them.
Yes!!! So many people don’t love it, but I just loved Phillip’s character!!
Waittt, sir philip was the one that wants to marry marina in the netflix series right????, oh noo
That's my favorite too! :) those 2 are very complementary. They smooth down each other's rough edges :)
I love Sir Phillip too 😭
@@PeaceLoveBooksxo YES! I think that part of it is that Sir Phillip gives me Captain Von Trapp vibes
an offer from a gentlemen is my favorite. Really love Benedict!
same!!!
Me too! I love how it started as a Cinderella story
Me too ☺️
One of my favorite scenes:
Gregory [to Hyacinth]- I'm older,
Hyacinth- I'm taller!😅
Bridgerton’s do make an appearance in these
Great story lines! Love all Julia Quinn’s books!
Francesca is my favorite Bridgerton, and her story "When He Was Wicked" is absolutely divine. I cannot wait too see it play out on screen.
@@rups6936 yes i definitely will complete the series!
Who is Francesca?
@@ok-pv1iz the 6th Bridgerton sibling.
The first 2 books have REALLY similar story flow
- kinda dont like each other then kinda do
- get caught compromised
- forced into marriage
- some psychological issue causes the man to run away
- said man comes to realisation he is a twat
-runs and saddles his own horse when he finds out his wifey is gone out and goes after her
- she is in an accident of some sort
I still love the books but was surprised how similar they were
Yup! I read them back to back and was annoyed how they both had the marriage of convenience plots because they were ruined so early on!
Omg!
@@keienn7259 I know it’s been some time since you commented this, but what was your favorite? Would love to hear it
@@Ellie60091 My favorite is actually the fandom's iffy books which are 1. AOFAG, 2. TSPWL, and 3. WHWW. Similar top three to this video. Hahahaha
I know the fandom doesn't like how Benedict offered for Sophie to be his mistress but if we just consider the time period, it was a really good offer for someone in her stature. And in the end, he actually decided to marry her, social consequences damned. And this was before he found out she was the lady in silver. AOFAG showed character growth for Benedict in that regard.
When Sir Phillip showed up at the Featherington’s everything’s clicked and it made me really sad.
I know 😕😕😕
What clicked ? Mrs wistledown?
Jojo Byun no. A different spoiler for a later book.
@@jojobyun185 Did you hear her review of "To Sir Phillip with Love?" Eloise Bridgerton writes a letter of condolence to Sir Phillip after his wife's death. She visits him at his home and eventually marries him. We don't know how closely the Netflix series will follow the storyline of any of the books, but Marina's future looks bleak.
ikr.. I was shocked... what are they gonna doing to Eloise love story? Are they try to Eloise to be an Independent woman until the end?

In my family, my husband and sons all have different lettered names but all the names have the same meaning, so most people don’t notice, but it’s special to me. Their names all mean “Gift from God”, and that’s what they are to me.

I am on the 5th book and I loove it! So far Benedict's is my fave, but the second book was the one I couldn't put down.
Anthony, Benedict and Gregory were in their 20s when they got married, 29, 28, 26 respectively. Only Colin married his 30s, at 33.
My top 3 is
1. Anthony’s story
2. Francesca’s story
4. Hyacinth’s story
But I really loved all of them and I’m just want to read them for the first time again☺️
Kate never had a dance with Collin he passed her off to Anthony to piss them off 😂😂😂 which was hilarious
And my favorite part was "your as beautiful as your sister" and Kate said "and you're as handsome as your brother" 😂
Yesss it was definitely one of my favourites!!!
I'm on When He Was Wicked right now and I am LOVING it. Hoping to finish it up tonight.
I didn’t know that this was a book series before I watched the Netflix series. I will definitely add these books to my list !!!
Hyacinth's was before Gregory
@@triasha3790 Also Francesca's 1st marriage was early as well, her book was years after
I really loved When He Was Wicked too! I really liked The Viscount Who Loved me and I’m excited about season 2 of Bridgerton.
To Sir Philip with Love and When He was Wicked are my favorite. I can't choose really, love the two books equally.
When He Was Wicked is really polarizing, from what I've seen. It's usually either people's favorite or least favorite 😂. I personally loved it.
I loved "when he was wicked too". I didn't expected it to be. It was definitely a refreshing story for Francesca being a widow and Michael reforming as a Rake on his own rather than just giving up the lifestyle for marriage.
@@shintiariva6012 how much of a rake could he have been given his 6-year love for Francesca.
Yes!!! Love Michael ❤️❤️❤️
Have you read the four Bridgerton prequels? I enjoyed them all but the first two were particularly good.

My favourite book starts from :
1.Anthonys
2.Colins
3.Eloises
4.Benedicts
5.Hyanciths
6.Daphne
7.Gregory
8.Francessca
I love that everyone has a reason for choosing their favourites
Francesca story as the forgotten child who was so independent but guilt ridden about love
Gregory who was ready to fight for love no matter the consequences
Colin love for writing and travelling shared with a friend. Probably the most stable love
Benedict a cinderella story with a reality check
Anthony found his match with a lady of strong mind and firm foundation. Putting his fear of death to ease
Hyacinth finding love through mystery solving
Daphne make pretend dating turn real marriage. Showed the difficulty of first year marriage and knowing love and communication are needed
Eloise, not my favourite.
Anthony’s book isn’t my favorite, but I’m actually enjoying him more in the show now!
I love Anthony's book because of Kate, but Anthony in the book is not a likable character to me. He didn't have any character development. He started as an elitist, patriarchal and condescending to women and remain that way throughout book.
I actually love Anthony tho at first I wasn’t a big fan of him but as I eventually read his book i was so in love with him
I have two more books left and so far Francesca's and Eloise's books are my favorites. The characters had more depth which made for a more interesting read. The women were not one dimensional but more complex.
I watched the series first, and now I'm on Collin's book! Excited to read the rest. :)
After reading the first book I was surprised to learn that there was a fourth featherington sister who wasn't in the series
I love Benedict's story too.
The Sir Phillip character was the guy who married Marina the woman who tried to trap Colin in the first season of Bridgeton…he’s the same character that Colin meets when he goes off to see how Marina is settling into her marriage… in season 2. The books are a little different from the TV show!
My favorite book is The Viscount who loved me 💕 in second, Heloise's book and third, Francesca.
The Viscount who Loved me is the quintessential meet cute with Anthony and Kate.
1 to sir Phillip with love ❤️

But it was still a great read though 😁
I could not stand Simon in the book but I fall in love in the show I love how the show change him so much😍
That’s how I feel about Anthony 😂
Well, i am fans of historical romance books, and Julia Quinn is one of my favorit author. Her series is so famous, it's not really surprising they make it to tv series in Netflix. By far my favorit is It's in His Kiss and Sir Philip..i hope the tv series can make the story in the books alive
“When he was wicked” reminded me of the plot of Colonel Dobbson and Amelia from “Vanity Fair”, it was a lot of the same premise.
When you said the last two books are the least Bridgerton-y, I agree!
Maybe it was because we were introduced to them as kids or maybe it was the time jump or because we've already read 6 books prior.
But they were still great! And I wholly agree with your ranking of book 8 😊
my fav is benedict and sophie!
I just finished 'When he was wicked' ale I loved it just as you did 😁

5. The discount who loved me(2)

hai are u gonna review the queen charlotte series? i really want your opinion as a reader
Thank you for this! I am now super excited to read all :)
I hope you enjoy them!!
I read all of them as well and I agree to everything.... last one is my fav
i’m only on book four but i have to say daphne’s story is my favorite
Thank you! Your review is so good!
Love ❤️ this series! Comfort read! Listen when eating or sleeping 😂 for times I don’t have to focus too intently! Enjoyed the earlier books more...
I've read all the books but I'm thrilled to see regency romance respected by other people who would scoff at this genre.
I don't want to have children because I don't want to leave them without a mother so I completely understood Anthony's obsession with his own death.
am i the only one disappointed by how aggressive colin was in the book? mans literally hurt penelope's arm when he found out she published the last letter
you're not alone! i found that to be extremely out of character for him as well!
Have you read other Julian Quinn books like the Splendid; Smythe-Smith and Rokesky series?
I can't wait to finish the series now that I have time to read, because based on what you've said it only gets better!
my favourite is when he was wicked too!
although to sir philip was my least favourite
Haha Phillip is definitely not everyone’s favorite. But I just can’t get over michael’s story!!
yas girl, I have the same opinion about the scene between Daphne and Simon, it made me dislike her character a LOT
An offer from a gentleman is my favorite book in the series Ivan's wait for season three
I have been waiting for this video 😌

I’m really debating to get this book the reviews in Amazon are really bad I enjoy the series on Netflix and i never read any romance in my life 😐😐😐
I read the first two a few years ago. I didn’t feel the need to continue with the series, but you have given me hope for the rest of the series. I might have to continue.
Yes!! I definitely recommend that you continue!
I started the process on the books as well. It's amazing 👏 😍
Yay!!
Oh my God! I didn't know until now it was based on those novels. Been read all of them, guess it's time to re read it 😁
