Give an award to the intimacy Coordinator ! As Rege said, she is 50% of the reason why we have seen so much chemistry on scene. Of course the other 50% are the nice scripts, dreamy soundtrack, and acting. Good job 👏🏿
Most of the time when there are sex scenes on the series I watched I always felt so uncomfortable and it kinda feel disgusting. But in this series, everything is so intimate that I felt like I shouldn't be watching because it's so genuine and felt very private, it really felt like they're making love.
@Perry potato well for me I don't think their scenes are supposed to be love scenes. They don't really love each other, I felt like it was more of lust. Like they're not doing it for love, also in the novel it was more emphasized that they are just using each other so I don't really think the production made it as intimate as they did with Daphne and Simon's scenes.
True but wow they were very very. A lot of shows incorporate the intense scenes these days, I grew up with little house on the prairie, so I’m usually turned off by some stuff just because it’s sometimes too much . This show wasn’t trashy in that respect. Still it was very convincing. Can’t imagine having to do that with a stranger!
I totally agree. The wedding night love scene - I almost couldn't watch it. When the camera pulled back and you could see their bodies through the lattice screen - the first time I watched it I had to turn my head. I'm not a prude, I've seen sex/love scenes before. However, the intimacy in that scene was so beautiful and natural I felt like a bit of a Peeping Tom. I've watched the series about three times now. Mostly because their accents were so strong that the first time I was missing a lot of the dialogue. And I admit I was so excited that I just wanted to see what would happen next. But in watching it again I got so much more of the nuance of the story. I'm reading the book now so it should be an added treat.
@@soulshadoww55 omg sameee, i'm watching the series again too but only for the second time but this time at a slow pace. Because I binge-watched the series for like a day or two and i wish i didn't. The love scenes in Bridgerton set a new standard in how to portray engaging, intimate beautiful portrayal of sex. They were quite explicit yet didn’t just come across as fake soft core porn (usually directed for men’s gaze). The build up of tension and desire between Daphne and Simon until their ultimate consummation made it light years more erotic than most sex scenes you see. I loved how their was so much focus on their faces and expressions.
@@PuenteAJ I think it's important to note that she was a intimacy coordinator. Usually the scenes are bad because it's coordinated by non-professionals. Not really a gender thing.
Intimate coordinator... hearing it first time. Cannot believe she did that. She has done a great job. It was not disgusting but romantic love scenes. Treat to watch.
I know they say love scenes are usually very uncomfortable for the actors...however, as convincing as this connection of chemistry between these actors was, I can't help but wonder if at any point, they truly were turned on by acting this out... I know they were just acting, but being so intimate with someone (even if you call it work), would still ensue someone catching feelings, if not at least being caught up in the moment... Rege really sold the way he looked at her...to me, that was the height of the intimacy- just the way he looked at her, as if she was his everything...I think women look for that feeling our whole lives, looking for a man who will look at us in that way... I really can not believe they are not a thing after that!...lol
It does happen actually. Actors, especially men, do get aroused. Ladies like this one are there to guide them through doing these scenes. If they get aroused they take a break and try again. There’s an article about the process actors go through. I know it looks real but it’s acting. There are some actors that are really good at getting into character. Rege is definitely one of them, Tom Ellis is one of them. The acting is so good and convincing you want it to be true. Hey if they genuinely did date I’d be happy but I know rege is happily committed to one woman.
@@louisekolteski1780 I understand what you are saying, however, "getting into character" puts them into a different mindset- and I would tend to think when they are really selling the story to the audience while "in character", there could very well be tendencies for lines being reality and "their work" to become blurred, especially when they are so in character that they really sell the story to the audience through their connection- I would imagine that is why their is so much infidelity in Hollywood...
She really makes a good point about how something like a fight scene has all these precautions and practises whereas intimacy scenes don't get as much attention
A very well done interview! I’ve seen others where they mainly focused on how they enjoyed the scenes but not much relating to her scope of work, great job can’t wait for tomorrow’s announcement ❤️
One of the better interviews with Lizzy Talbot, there were real questions and yes there were giggles but it was honest as opposed to salacious.. good one!!
I think you can't really choreograph chemistry. It's either there or it's not and I've watched some movies with oscar worthy actors and no matter how good the performance, the chemistry is not happening. Rege and Daphne are just a good match.
I agree, but she makes a good point that the weeks of rehearsals and filming that they had to build up the actors' comfort levels and trust helped. If they had been thrown straight into the love scenes without that, they would have been a lot less steamy and a lot more awkward. That's why love scenes are usually the last scenes filmed in a movie/show, so the actors have time to build the trust and comfort level with each other. You are right, though, that there are movies/shows that the actors had time to get to know each other and build the trust, and the spark was just not there. Then there are other movies where the spark/chemistry was there, but the direction or dialogue made it awkward. (Star Wars: Episode II comes to mind.) Bridgerton had the perfect recipe for fantastic love scenes because the actors had chemistry and trust, and the direction of the intimate movements by the intimacy coordinator made it feel tender and romantic. It's sort of a parallel to the story in the show. Simon and Daphne would not have been able to fool the ton about courting if they hadn't had such obvious chemistry.
Thank you for bringing Bridgerton in our eyes and it feels like we are reading a superb book that satisty our imagination. you/they interpret the intimacy scenes like you/they understand our needs to fulfill our fire when watching the series. the first times, the touches, the realness, the shots, and the heartfelt scenes.
