First three....Benedict's story Francesca's story and finally Eloise's story. I believe the producers will change book 3 so much that for me I'll reread the book instead. I don't think they'll get to Francesca at all and Sir Phillip....who knows but I'm worried that Benedict will not be a chacter I could relate to.🤔😒😥

The Viscount Who Loved Me is literally my favourite romance novel ever (and I’ve read a lot) this is probably because I relate to book Kate on an insane level. And no I will never forgive Netflix and CVD for robbing us of that library scene. Also Anthony Bridgerton is the gold standard of the playboy with a heart of gold trope.

I'm currently reading the viscount who loves me and I love Kate.

I agree with you and I see myself in Kate a lot. The scene where her birth mom dies gave me goosebumps. I never cried while reading in my entire life. Book 2 made me do that.
Book 6, 3 and 2 are my top favorites.

My ratings hasn’t really changed but here are mine 💕
    1. An offer From a Gentleman (I just have a soft spot for Sophie I’m also a fan of social class differences)
    2. The Viscount who loved Me ( I adore them both so much! Kate is also a favorite of mine, was struggling between it 1st or second lol)
    3. When he was Wicked (this made me an emotional wreck!)
    4. On the way to the Wedding (I adored Gregory and his love for Lucy)
    5. To Sir Phillip, with Love ( I really loved the family scenes we got here and also a sweet story)
    6. It’s in his Kiss (it was okay)
    7. The Duke and I ( I enjoyed this when I first read this but “that” scene left a bad taste on my mouth)
    8. Romancing Mister Bridgerton ( I’m sorry but I find them incredibly boring and my opinion on them still remains the same)
I’m really intrigued how the show will introduce the remaining couples hehe

Your number one and eight are the same as mine. ^^
I read the book randomly. So far only Francesca's, Gregory's, and Hyacinth's book left for me to buy, but honestly I'm stuck in Colin's story right now. I finished Benedict's and Anthony's story in one day, but it's been almost a month since I read Colin's story, I'm still in the chapter where they decided to kiss.
Colin is one of the most interesting brother in the novels, but when he gets his own story, I don't know why it's bland.

I was surprised how much I loved Hyacinth and Gregory’s books, they were the ones I was least excited about as they aren’t in the other siblings books much, but they were up there in the rankings for me, Hyacinth’s book is probably top 2 for me. I think Benedict’s book is probably my other favourite, I love how they threw in the hints of Cinderella with the glove. I do love the botany in Sir Phillips book and of course the pall mall from Anthony’s though. When he was wicked is to angsty for me, but that’s just preference

I get why people dislike To Sir Philip With Love after watching the show, she is such a different person there (maybe it's just bc she is much younger in the show in this point in time than when her story takes place), but I don't care, it's still my fav. And I am not even sure I even like show Eloise anymore with how dumb and out of character she is in s2.
I have read the prequel btw, I liked "first comes scandal" the most

  • @damassss
    @damassss 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

My least favorite Bridgerton book is definitely To Sir Phillip with Love. I felt like Eloise and Sir Phillip are so incompatible and she can do so much better. Sir Phillip is also such a jerk in the book. That's why I love what the show has done with Eloise and I personally hope they changed some things with her storyline. I'm okay with Sir Phillip still being the love interest but I hope they changed the character's behavior from the book. However, your opinion is completely valid and we all have our own likes and dislikes! It's just a matter of taste.

    Oh, my Bridgerton ranking is:
    THE BOOKS I LOVED
    1. The Viscount Who Loved Me (Anthony. Kate. Banter. Pall Mall. Newton. The bee scene. Chef’s kiss perfection)
    2. When He Was Wicked (Francesca is such a good character, Michael is everything. I love the story)
    3. To Sir Phillip, With Love (I love Eloise and Phillip and I love the relationship between Eloise and the twins)
    4. It’s In His Kiss (I love Hyacinth as a character as well as Gareth)
    5. An Offer From A Gentleman (I love Sophie and Benedict and the class difference storyline)
    6. On The Way To The Wedding (I would have loved it more if Lucy hadn’t gone through the wedding)
    THE BOOKS DID NOT LIKE
    7. The Duke and I (That one scene where Daphne sexually assaulted instead Simon of communicating with Simon)
    8. Romancing Mister Bridgerton (I didn’t like how Colin fell for Penelope after she lost weight and what he said about her. It was something that could not be redeemed to me)

  • @validenough

    My ranking
    1. Benedict's - loved everything, i love a good Cinderella story. Mainly loved violet here, a supportive mom.
    2. Francesca's - loved the forbidden love and this is the steamiest of all. Need a Michael for myself.
    3. Anthony's - loved the bee and pall mall scenes. Anthony was hot in this.
    4. Hyacinth's - loved the treasure hunt theme and a bit of mistery with gareth's birth.
    5. Eloise's - love Eloise and children. Parenting 101 for Sir Phillip.
    6. Daphne's - this was fine yup good
    7. Colin's - boring... I expected much more
    8. Gregory's - i skipped a lot to read the ending, the wedding in the church part

  • @joannab4924
    @joannab4924 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Thanks for the ranking. Mine is a bit different:
    1. My fav has always been The Viscount Who Loved Me. (Love Anthony so much, maybe bc I understand his lost and his fears)
    2. On the way to the wedding (mostly bc I loved that Kate was so important character in it. It was also so fresh and unpredictable, it took me only one day to read it)
    3. It's hard for me to decide so it's a tie:
An Offer From A Gentleman and When He Was Wicked.
The rest are fine but not as much as those four. The first one was my least fav too.

Francesca's book is awesome. Most drama, most steamy scences, the Eloise, Anthony, Daphne, Benedict, Colin, Hyacinth and Gregory - that is my order.

  • @yael77995533
    @yael77995533 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

OMG I feel completely different... I don't know that I have a ranking but there were definitely books that I liked more than others. I liked "When he was wicked" BUT Francesca took FOREVER to decide to commit to Michael which I really didn't like. Also, while I love steamy books it seemed a little repetitive towards the end of the book. Also, Francesca's dialogue from a certain point in the book consisted completely of the one word Michael. So I loved the beginning of the book until they get together but from after the cabin scene on it was a let down for me. I thought Hycinth, Gregory and Benedick's stories were just so-so. I agree with you that Eloise's story was a really good one. I also liked Anthony's story (it is really a pride and prejudice retelling) because of the banter. I especially liked the office scene that everybody seems to have overlooked. Apparently I am in a minority here but I also really liked the Duke and I. As someone who was constantly seen as the "chummy friend" I can relate to Daphne's troubles. I loved Simon and was really moved when he said "My soul won't allow it". Sometimes we can physically do something but it is incomprehensible emotionally. Maybe the weakest part was the ending where things got resolved too easily. I feel like something very drastic would have had to happen for Simon to change his mind. Maybe if he could "give up" the Dukedom or something. But that's not what happens in the book. I have to say that I loved Collin and Penelope's story. I feel like Penelope is THE strongest female character in all of the books. I loved how she encouraged Collin and professionally critiqued his writing. I absolutely can understand Collin trying to find his place in the world. I loved how he ended up eating his words about never marrying Penelope and I loved how he defended her when they were dismissing her so appallingly. So I guess my ranking is: Collin, Daphne, Anthony, Francesca, Eloise, Hycinth, Gregory, Benedick.

I read the books last year. I gave 5 stars to the 3rd book. 3 stars to books 1,2,4,5 and 8. And 2 stars to books 6 and 7. But after much thought if i had to rank them i would rank them as follows:
    1) Benedict (which girl can't relate to the poor girl getting the rich guy?)
    2) Anthony ( i LOVE enemies to lovers )
    3) Colin ( after enemies to lovers i love friends to lovers )
    4) Gregory ( if you think about it this was also friends to lovers but i put Colin's first because we had the Colin/Penelopy build up for 3 books before they got their happy ending )
    5) Eloise ( i loved how she took her life into her own hands )
    6) Daphne ( this one just doesn't sit well with me cause i feel like Simon was forced into everything including that sex scene )
    7) Hyacinthe ( i honestly don't remember anything about this one ) and
    8) Francesca ( personally i found Michael whiney. if you want her man go get her her husband is dead )

1/2 The Viscount Who Loved Me and When He was Wicked (they are tied for me as my top and change depending on the mood I’m in 😅)
    3 It’s In His Kiss
4 Romancing Mr Bridgerton (definitely agree it was disappointing after the buildup but I did enjoy it more than others in the series)
5 To Sir Phillip with Love (I actually hated book Phillip and didn’t find him worthy of Eloise but the show I’ve grown to love both of their characters more lol)
    6 The Duke and I
7 An Offer from a Gentleman
8 On the Way to the Wedding

Sir Phillip is literally the worst. It was specifically hard for me to read that one because of his thoughts, and when I thought he might be getting better he has to say at the end “don’t ever tell me that we have problems because you didn’t go through what I did”. Like what Sir? She wants to actually spend time with you and you are complaining?

    my ranking is
    1. its in his kiss (it was the sweetest one for me and the leads were the most likeable)
    2. an offer from a gentleman (I really loved Sophie and the Cinderella trope but Benedict was kind of whiny)
    3. the viscount who loved me (the library scene was so sweet pub my favorite scene)
    4. when he was wicked (this book was definitely the steamiest but Michael was too demanding especially when he gave her the ultimatum)
    5. to sir Phillip with love (I didn't like sir Phillip at all but I loved Eloise's dynamic with the twins)
    6. the duke and I (I liked this book until after THAT scene it went downhill. Simon was wrong to not tell Daphne the truth but what she did was way worse and it even says that she didn't regret it)
    7. romancing mr Bridgerton (this book was kind of a let down and I didn't really like Collin)
    8. on the way to the wedding (I like Lucy but I think Gregory is too clueless sometimes and too much of a romantic for my taste)

Also, I adore Phillip Crane even though the book was not my favorite..I will say that Eloise’s storyline in the show disappointed me a lot because, well. Theo. I’m interested to see how they adapt the rest of the romances given how they changed Kanthony, for sure.

Difference in opinion indeed! Your number one I found the most repetitive in narrative and conclusion. I didn’t read it but listened to the audio book and apart from the part where Francesca became the dominant one in the cottage the book was all about Michael. However I did love Eloise book with Philip Crane. I actually read it twice. I like him as a character very much and the banter ( interaction between them is not as hot as Anthony and Kate ) but amusing and fresh. So that book To Sir Phillip, With Love is my number one. Benedict book is my number six ( too Cinderella story for me) . Every other listing of mine is the same as yours. Don’t dwell on the harsh criticisms it’s mostly envy and insecurity from strangers 🙌🏻👨🏿‍🌾

I have to be honest, I don't get the love for When He Was Wicked, I'll have to reread it. It just felt like a lot of sex. My favorites, maybe a tie, are The Viscount Who Loved Me and To Sir Philip With Love, followed by Romancing Mr Bridgerton, Duke and I, Offer From A Gentleman, When He Was Wicked, It’s In His Kiss, and On the Way to the Wedding. Clearly I feel like the series loses something as it goes along.

The Viscount who Loved Me was my favorite book. Moving it up your list was a good call lol.
I read all 8 novels (and the 9th 2nd epilogues book) in preparation for season 2. I really enjoyed the series, and I understand that because Daphne and Simon's story, it was a marriage of convenience, they didn't want it to be redundant. But I loved that in this book and I fell in love with Anthony both in the book and in the series, from the library scene, the pall mall scene, the bee scene, and of course, the dog is a fave lol.
I too admit to being a Sir Phillip stan. I wonder how the show will bring him and Eloise together, or if they'll scrap that story line altogether. I can't wait to see the upcoming seasons. I might have to reread my faves as well.

    All right, here's my ranking:
    1. An Offer from a Gentleman (I get why people dislike Benedict in that one but... he's acting like pretty much any 19th century man would in that situation and he actually apologizes to Sophie in the end. And I don't really understand the criticism about Sophie being passive - she's a servant, of course she's limited in her actions, and I honestly found her the most relatable out of all the FMCs of the series.)
    2. To Sir Philip, With Love (It felt a lot more mature than the previous books, in a good way, and it's basically all about learning to open yourself to being loved, so I really liked it.)
    3. It's In His Kiss (This book was basically what TDAI was trying to do, but... just better in every way.)
    4. When He Was Wicked (LOVED the angst, the sex scenes were hot, but it kind of dragged at the end.)
    5. The Viscount Who Loved Me (It's okay. I know it's a lot of people's favorite and I love Kate in it, but it didn't stand out that much to me.)
    6. On the Way to the Wedding (It's a lot of fun, and Gregory and Lucy are pretty entertaining in it.)
    7. Romancing Mister Bridgerton (Loved Penelope and Lady Danbury, Colin was irritating though.)
    8. The Duke and I (I already wasn't liking Daphne's pick-me girl vibes, so **the scene** was all the more terrible to me.)
Edit after watching video: Well, it's the complete opposite for me, I completely trust you now since you're a Sir Philip Stan!

Honestly the 1st book really made me stop with the series all together. For me it was very triggering to me personally and I just couldn’t get over it. So should I give the series another chance because I think Daphne is just the most frustrating selfish person I just don’t think It’s for me honestly.

Romancing Mr. Bridgerton is extremly boring and winny considering Colin is the possesor of the Bridgerton braincell in the rest of the books so he had the potential for fun and shenanigans. Also he played a much biger role in bringing his siblings together with their loved ones , including Anthony, he is very sharp and has best one liners. The book of him and Penelope is incredibly boring considering the potential.

I’m an old, long time reader of historical romances. I read the Bridgerton Series back when I was waiting for each novel to be released. I agree with you that each of the stories hit you differently each time you read them especially as your personal experience changes. I must admit that one of the reasons that Romancing Mister Bridgerton stayed as the top book for me was not so much about the book itself but how much I had been rooting for Penelope since the beginning of the stories.
If another family series is what you are seeking, may I suggest the Malory - Anderson series. A series that was released from 1985 through 2017. I wish they could have made a tv series from these…
Since you are fairly new to the genre, I wonder if based on some of the things you mentioned might be interested in reading some books that I read when I was a little younger than you are now. One that I absolutely love and tend to re-read about once every 5 years is A Rose in Winter by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. Another that was one of my very first Historical is Skye O’Malley by Beatrice Small.

    2. When He Was Wicked (Michael Stirling is the best thing happened in the book)
    3. An Offer From Gentleman (Idc abt y'all but Benedict trying to make Sophie to be his mistress is so entertaining)
    4. On The Way To The Wedding (I love Lucy as much as I like Kate. They resemble each other so much; selfless and rigid)
    5. Romancing Mr. Bridgerton (It's meh... got bored quickly. And I hate Colin from this book lol)
    6. It's In His Kiss (The only reason I didn't dnf this book is bc of Lady Danbury. The romance is too dry for me)
    7. The Duk And I

Your ranking is so similar to mine! My top 3 would be (in order) When He was Wicked; The Viscount Who Loved Me; and To Sir Philip, with Love (which does not get nearly enough love)! I hope Bridgetron's popularity makes historical romance blow up on TikTok because I want all my beloved authors to make bank, but I'm also afraid of my favorite genre being exposed to all the toxicity that goes on over there (e.g. encouraging pirating, encouraging returning books they've read just because, etc etc). :/

I watched the first 2 seasons of the show, then read 'An Offer From A Gentleman' and 'When He Was Wicked' (bc these two are my fav Bridgertons) and I'm OBSESSED with them. I'm pretty sure they're gonna remain my 2 faves even after I finish reading the other books. I'm currently reading 'Romancing Mr. Bridgerton' and I'm gonna read 'To Sir Philip With Love' immediately after 'RMB'.
I'm gonna rank the books even though I didn't read half of them but I know a lot about most of them:
1- When He Was Wicked (I can relate so much to Francesca WAY MORE than I can to the other Bridgertons. Also, The story was so emotional and I felt like I got every emotion that Frannie felt and I understood Michael so much).
2- An Offer From A Gentleman (I ADORE Sophie so much and I find Benedict very charming and cute, the only thing I didn't like about the book is that Benedict got mad when Sophie rejected his offer).
3- To Sir Philip With Love (This might change but I from what I read about this book, I think I'm gonna love it so much because Eloise is the second most Bridgerton that I can relate to).
4- The Viscount Who Loved Me (I'm kind of obsessed with Kate, like I wanna be her so badly and I really don't mind the forced marriage situation).
5- It's In His Kiss (I find Hycinth really cool and a lot of people have said that she's wild in the book lol and I love a wild female lead, **cough** **cough** Frannie, **cough** *cough*).
6- Romancing Mr. Bridgerton (Even though I'm in the middle of reading this, but I feel like I know everything about this book already. Seems like an average friends-to-lovers-unpopular-girl-falls-in-love-with-hot-popular-guy kind of book, I like it though).
7- The Duke and I (Idk I'm just so repulsed by Simon and the only redeeming quality about this story is Daphne, I really love her).
8- On The Way To The Wedding (I literally don't know ANYTHING about this book, other than the fact that it's Gregory's story).
Edit: Reading 'WHWW' and 'AOFAG' is def the highlight of my year.

I’ve only read up to the fifth book and to be honest the series isn’t one of my favorites. However my favorite book until now has been “The viscount who loved me”. “The duke and I”, despite all the things that don’t work in Daphne and Simon’s relationship, got me enthralled ‘till the end. I also liked “Romancing Mr. Bridgerton”, though I agree with every single word you said about Colin.
My least favorites are without any doubt “An offer from a gentlemen”, which I found boring and predictable, and “To sir Phillip with love”. I really couldn’t stand this last one. Phillip is so selfish and self-centered. He only thinks about what’s convenient to him. When Eloise tries to talk to him about what she feels is a problem he starts to be rude. His credo is that, because he has been married with a depressed woman, he is the only one allowed to be unhappy and she has no right to complain. He is so disrespectful towards her feelings and needs. I got really mad about this attitude.
As you can see my tastes seem quite different from yours, but I also know that many of my favorites books are your favorites too. So don’t listen to the tiktok comments. It’s a very sick way of thinking. We are all different and it’s totally fine to have different ideas. I hope that people who has been mean to you will someday understand it.

I couldn't get through Eloise's book because of the way Phillip talks about Marina's mental health illness. I sat so awfully with me but I think the scene where he describes the first and only time he sleeps with Marina following the birth of their children...it felt so icky and rapey; I genuinely couldn't seriously like him as a hero after that. I also was put off the Bridgerton series because why would she write something like that? ( The sexual assault issue is also why I didn't read The Duke and I).

  • @banannakis6723

I'm not a big fan of Eloise in the show, mainly cause I find her to be like Colin from the books, especially his own book. Super whiny, when they are privileged and have so many options open to them. But I did love Eloise's book and her romance with Phillip who I adore, he's such a sweetie. I'm guessing that they are gonna have show Eloise being left behind of sorts by everyone getting married and moving on with their lives. Perhaps she just feels lonely and left behind. And decides after having a nice correspondence with Phillip (thinking he's a decent enough guy from the rest of the jerks/bores of the ton) that she's gonna surprise him at his house and see if they work together. If not, she will just head home, no big deal. But only cause she shows up on impulse, there is no chaperone and they are rushed into a marriage of friendship. Where that friendship grows to love as they blend their little family together.

I did really enjoyed some part of Eloise book like brothers came to Crane's estate and Eloise with twins, however as a person who has a depression, the way JQ handled depression in this book really disappointed me. And while everyone talked about Daphne raped Simon in Duke and I, I don't understand why nobody talks about Sir Phillip raped his late wife, that part was a dictionary example of spousal rape...

Show Eloise is still a child, 17/18 right? She is suppose to be 26 in her book so she should change as she ages. I know Netflix have said they might mix up the order of the seasons but I still hope they still stick to the same timeline.
