This may be fake news [not that I know] because of this reason. At the present time, from what I read and hear from PH nationals, attornies, etc., foreigners cannot own property in PH. However, leasing of such is quite possible. Building on leased property is legal and possible. BUT, when someone of Musk's financial stature starts moving to accomplish something, all bets are off and he usually finds ways to make it happen. Maybe it would be possible for Musk to get a political dispensation to allow him to do as he envisions. Would he 'screw' the PH people? He appears to be quite socially minded and I would expect Musk to take all things into consideration, with the PH people being treated fairly. Of course, everything Musk does is basically a business venture so the financials and profits are part of any deal. I like Musk and his temperament. Do I trust him implicitly? No...but this is how I feel about almost everybody...with him being better than most [in my opinion].

Elon would higher talented individuals and pay a premium and this would raise pay in those skill sets. Henry Ford did this and he raised wages of all workers in the Auto industry. Additionally, skilled professionals would come to the Philippines.
What makes you think Elon will hire educated Filipinos? Deal with the reality on the current business structure. He will import INDIA tech professionals with a high salary and continue to pay $500/month to Filipinos to do the dirtiest work.

I'm an American living in PH for many years. Really like it here. I lived in the Silicon Valley when Musk was in Fremont / Palo Alto, CA. He moved to Texas because of unfavorable business laws in California [which I can attest to.] I can find no evidence that he is building anything here in PH. But the story makes for a good video.

During BBM visit to USA he was supposed to have a meeting with Elon but reported it was cancelled. Maybe because as what the video implies Musk wanted it to be a *secret meeting* without the scrutiny of media both foreign and local. Not that I wouldn't love having Elon Musk live in the Ph, but I doubt this news. Unless it's a beach house that he can vacation at occassionally, his MOVING to the Ph is unlikely. Why not South Africa, that's where he's from. Singapore has the infrastructure. I do agree that he can get cheap labour, but we Filipinos can be an uncooperative lot when pushed. Particularly as he's NOT Pinoy.

I'm an American living in PH for many years. Really like it here. I lived in the Silicon Valley when Musk was in Fremont / Palo Alto, CA. He moved to Texas because of unfavorable business laws in California [which I can attest to.] I can find no evidence that he is building anything here in PH. But the story makes for a good video.
