While he could potentially be a criminal?, most Black people are excellent judges of character! And there's no way any pedophile gets behind a car like that, let alone has tons of cops in the city after him. So he took a chance and gave him his hat to blend in etc's. Something kinda similar happened to a friend of mine when we were in our early 20s. Some assholes started a fight as they were leaving a bar. Nothing too crazy, just drunk college boys starting trouble with the locals. The whole thing spilled out from the sidewalk into the street, with beer bottles smashing and a few bystanders getting dragged into the fracas. My buddy found himself in a bit of a lull in the action, just as a bunch of cop cars approached. He just calmly walked across the street to a bus stop bench and sat down next to a middle-aged black woman. As the cops pulled up, he leaned over and put his head on her shoulder, and she said "Don't worry baby, I saw the whole thing. You just relax there."

These movies got me a little curious about the Reacher books by Lee Child, so I started reading them from the first in the series. I can tell you this: Tom Cruise got this character down. Now, Reacher is supposed to be huge, like 6'5", which Tom Cruise isn't. But everything else, the mannerisms, the attitude, the way of speaking, it is very very close to what I found in the first two or three Reacher books. I'm thinking Cruise really did his homework to get this right... Lots of people just think of Tom Cruise as an action hero, but, as an actor myself, I can tell you he has real acting chops.

Couple players start doing "follow the leader/conga line" and soon everyone joined in, then following the leaders we split in 2 groups line up across from each other and first headbutted, but then ended doing a kind of country dance. It was amazing how we all worked together with out communicating. It was better than the game.

The driving scenes are excellent, really first-class and well-staged. What really stands out from older films is the actors are right there, in amongst the action and driving the cars. I'm sure Cruise did his own stunt driving - because living his life with a fearless attitude of experiencing life to the fullest is just the way he is - but I'm not sure if the cop chasing him, played by David Oyelowo, would have done his own driving. it IS possible he did it himself, all the while maintaining the calm and reserved disposition of his character, but it's also possible he was face-planted in by the completely believable film effects we have these days (or in 2012 when the film was made). Either way, it makes the film stand apart from, say, the car chase movies of the 70s and 80s, where if you looked closely enough you'd see a stunt driver with a totally different hairstyle turning his face turned away from the camera while smashing his car through something (usually a crossing gate) at high speed. In my opinion Jack Reacher is a 9/10 film and Tom Cruise is a brilliant professional. My favourite scene is when he takes Jai Courtney apart in the final battle. That's quite a beating and he totally deserves it.

I mean Robert Duvall at the gun range owner? Come on! The narrative is epic, the characters and sub characters are believable, the suspense isn't over the top with outrageously stupid music, the plot is well thought out and to top it all off, it didn't take itself too seriously.
