  • So I finally got my hands on this sought after hot hatch that is the GR Yaris. I think it is safe to say that this car was so much fun and is quite possibly the best hot hatch I have tried thus far...What do you think?

    Great video, Grace! I now want a Yaris. Yeah, I can’t believe I said that. I want a Yaris. Turning the Yaris into a homologation car made it cool. Unfortunately Toyota quit selling the Yaris in the US a few years back, and it doesn’t appear that they have any plans to bring it back. Who uses built in maps? Me. 🙋🏻‍♂️ The last thing I want is iOS on my dashboard. Luckily the Pivi Pro infotainment in my Defender is really good. I think I’m the only person in the world who hates Apple CarPlay. Grace I have one, I would probably recommend people test it a bit as if I had to drive it everyday it would drive me up the wall. It’s bad on the motorway (noisy), it’s bad around town (gear changing at lower revs, visibility etc), it doesn’t have a good sound system which I appreciate in an everyday or work car. The boot space is laughable as are a few other aspects. Also I’d say if you’ve come from an BMW M car, or AMG, Audi RS this type of thing you will miss the engine noise, so the Yaris certainly has its downsides.
    However, ….
    When you fancy it, show this car a B road, or any other road for that matter, it turns into a savage beast of a machine that you imagine could outrun most Porsches if the conditions were a bit slippy. It is fantastic in any of the drive modes on any surface in any condition. Coming from a RWD M140 I quite like sport mode as it feels a little more natural but they’re all so perfect. Track mode will pull you around a corner at speeds a lot higher than I would dare to go. It handles a bumpy road extremely well and keeps you planted nicely. I even like the noise now and the extra ‘drama’ it creates when you put your foot down. I am sooo pleased Toyota created this car, I really wanted an Evo 6 back in the day but having only just passed my test could only dream of affording one! Nice review :)

    I own a Convenience pack GR and had a very long test drive with a Circuit pack version (3 hours) Unless you're really, really pushing it and know how to properly drive you won't benefit from the Circuit pack. The Convenience pack for me is much better - same performance but more comfortable, awesome and useful heads up display, the ease of parking sensors and the inbuilt Sat Nav removes the need to have phone cables trailing to no particularly suitable place for the phone. Almost alll media reviews have been too quick to dismiss anything other than a Circuit pack - but my advice is, go for the Convenience pack, I couldn't be happier with mine! 😃👍

    • @gracedavies5716
      @gracedavies5716  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment, I do agree with you regarding that. I’ve not driven the Convenience pack GR to see what the driving difference is like to be honest, if I had been able to test both then maybe I would’ve changed my mind, however I do just like all the chassis tweaks the Circuit pack has to offer and I think it’s more appealing on paper to the consumer. @@siviter no heated seats as not available on UK market cars for some reason. It does have an upgraded JBL stereo system, but I wouldn't say its great! The HUD is really useful and great, the integrated sat Nav very easy and the slightly softer suspension better for a daily use car. Personally I would always choose the Convenience pack as it makes most sense for fast, but safe, road driving. If your main interest is track days then take Circuit pack!

    The thing is that if you are adhering to the speed limits then you are not seeing the performance of the car - you need to open it up a little on the B roads. Even on the track you don't see its capabilities because even though it has a circuit pack its not really a circuit car. I take mine down infrequently used B roads and there you see it for what it is really designed for. A nice review, shame you didnt get the car earlier...
