    Another awesome game specific set from The Army Painter. I'm a huge fan of these sets, I think they really help beginners know where to get started and get in to our hobby. Anyone else picked up this set? What do you think?

      DeltaGen42 welcome to the hobby! You’re in for some fun :-) this is a nice set to get you all started. Let me know how you get on, what are you painting first?

      I just picked up the smaller set as well as the brushes. Hope they both work out for the best. I REALLY wanted the Monster set but don’t want to waste to money if it turns out not to be the hobby for me...

    Thanks for your review. I’m brand new to painting minis and you helped me turn my $95 amazon cart into $55 by showing me what to get.

      That’s great news! I actually intend to do some videos on what to bother getting as a brand new painter. I got started for around $50 too and I bought some things you really just do not need! And other things I held off for years and they are life changing :D if you use discord at all check out our patreon, it comes with discord and we will happily be around to chat you through getting going!

    I‘d looooove to see you painting minsk and boo with just the colors from the starter set.

    If you do the math, it costs 21 cents per ml for the box set paint, but only 17 cents per ml if you just bought all of the paints separately. You'd think that buying in bulk that you would get a discount, but they in fact charge you more. I guess you get the miniature too - but neither were minis that I would have bought on their own. Also, and this might just be nit-picky, but I don't like the bottle shape and sizes. If you buy a paint rack later, they won't fit into any of the standard sized holes. The zombicide paint sets had the standard 18 ml bottles that you could just add into your collection.

      It’s a very good point. Checking price per ml here in the UK, it puts the Minsk and Boo figure at about £6 for the paint to be the same price as individual paints. Doesn’t seem outrages, but totally dependent on wanting DND characters or not! FYI, I didn’t care for the figures either, but now omg owlbears!!!!

    I would get this for the blue range alone. I've widened my greens and have enough yellows/browns etc but am short on blues and I hate mixing. :P

      That’s funny, I was painting earlier and thought the blues in this set are really nice! Similar to magic blue by vallejo that I really like

    Minsc is a character in the Forgotten Realms setting (one of the multiple settings the game Dungeons & Dragons can be played), made popular in the CRPG Baldur's Gate. He had a "particular" way of seeing things and believed his pet, the mouse called Boo, was a "miniature giant space hamster" and relied on his advice for support. Among other very funny quirks, one of his battle cries when he would charge in battle was: "Go for the eyes, Boo! Go for the eyes!"
    All around, a well-loved character by most of the players of the game, I'm glad to see him in miniature form :D Have a good one, take care.

    Nice video but for a review I would recommend sticking to stuff you have tried or trying the stuff beforehand. It's a bit frustrating hearing "I haven't tried it yet" over and over.

    I will get these 2 paint sets for christmas, already very excited. But one question: is the footprint of the small bottles any different from the normal sized army painter bottles? I ask because i built a little paint rack already, but with a normal 18ml bottle for space reference and in the video it looked like the smaller ones were a bit wider at the bottom.

    • @WatchItPaintIt
      @WatchItPaintIt  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man, yeah they are the same width/diameter bottles, they are just lower in height :-)

    How would one use these paints with an airbrush? Thinned down or left as is maybe thicken? Im completely new but thought i should ask because i want to airbrush but also use non air for highlights and micro details.

    How is the quality compared to normal army paints. The one we use on warhammer dir example?

    • @WatchItPaintIt
      @WatchItPaintIt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s exactly the same paint as far as I can tell. Just smaller bottles and branded up for DnD
