  • Welppp imma head out cuz it's officially autumn in England. We spent a few days in the countryside this September and I thought I would share some of the fall festivities ~ mostly walking, eating bread, and rummaging vintage trinkets. We had a lovely time aside from me driving for the first time in London (you brits are sickos for those roundabouts).
Here are the villages we visited in the Cotswolds:
    Bourton on the Water
    Lower Slaughter
    Stow on the Wold
    Burford
Thanks for watching! love ya bye

The stone mushrooms you saw are called staddle stones; originally they were used to keep vermin out of grain barns by having the barn built on top of them, one in each corner to keep it off the ground and the head part would stop the rats and mice from climbing them. Nowadays they are used ornamentally, such as you saw.

My American daughter-in-law took to driving over there like a fish to water when we visited. She was 31 at the time and loved driving there!

I just came across your channel this morning and really enjoyed your video thank you. I am English and even I wouldn't dare drive in London. All credit to you for giving it a go and I applaud you for doing so 👏. So sorry to hear you had to endure being beeped and shouted at by other road users, not nice especially on your first time driving over here. I guess you could always take a train out of London and then hire a car so you don't have to endure London's roads again. You bought some lovely finds, I also love looking around antique shops.

I love your haul, the plate and the wooden stand were gorgeous. I live not far from Bourton, and spent a lot of time there growing up as my grandparents lived there. I think I will have a wander over there at some point over the winter to see the antique shops, I don't frequent it as much as I used to as it does get very busy.

I loved the haul so much I bought a matching plate to the Franklin one. Squirrel and mushrooms? Way too my style to ignore. That town was so precious. It made me want to move to a small town so badly. Also? I’m so jealous of how easy it is to just walk places there. I feel like I’d get a ton of more exercise in if I could just walk to places from my house.

Also same - I wish they made more walkable communities in the US

Nothing more terrifying than an American in the UK say they are going to 'have a go' at driving!

  • @jamesrowe3606
    @jamesrowe3606 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

I've noticed every American making the same mistake pronouncing Cotswolds. It's "-wolds", rhyming with "colds", not "-walds", rhyming with Oswalds.

Motorbikes are not allowed to drive inbetween cars in the UK, but they do it anyway. Small country lanes are scary to drive down. They're so narrow. 😮 I've just found your channel and I love your videos. Very cosy.

Maybe 200-300 quid? So not cheap, but not quite as bad.
I’ve nearly given up on charity shops here bc I never find any good home stuff. I’ve had better luck at flea markets. Where should I be looking?

@@briisokay every town and village has a charity shop, but in order to get to the good stuff, you have to plough through the tat.
Boot sales the same, but every now and then,I find a gem.3 weeks ago,I got hold of a first pressing of Led Zeppelin II for 3 quid and been told it’s worth between 13-1500 quid.
No special formula, just good old leg work.

You got some real treasures in the Cotswolds we went there but we got into town around 4pm ...5pm and they were closing down the shops we had been hopping around different towns...so I missed out on the shopping...you need to check out Levenham I think that is what it is called a town of crooked homes and shops...they all lean...like the leaning tower of Pisa...in Italy...and don't forget Stonehenge...I love England cherish it...

Hello I live in Suffolk England where Lavenham is. It does have the most crooked house in Britain. It's where the nursery rhyme There was a crooked House came from. Don't know if you've heard of it?. It's also where Harry Potters house is which was featured in the film Deathly Hallows part 1. It is a very pretty medieval village to visit. Thank you for mentioning it🙂
