  • How to and what you’ll need to swap out a broken or inoperable door lock switch actuator. If your actual switch works, but won’t unlock both doors, you’ll most likely need to swap out the actuator. Not too hard but will take you an hour or two if you don’t have any help and this is your first time. The process is the same whether it’s the driver’s door or passenger, but the actuator is actually different so order the correct one. This process will work on 2008 to 2013 Chevy Silverado 1500 2500 3500, Chevy Tahoe 2008 to 2013, 2008 to 2013 GMC Sierra and 2008 to 2013 GMC yukon. #affiliate #afflink

I'm looking for all door actuator and my car is 2011 tahoe. when I look for a actuator there's 2008-2009 and 2010-2014. So is it the same pins or there's a different?. And how can I know which one is the right one.

That’s strange I believe GM offered 2 different door panels for the 2008-2013 I remember my dually having a grab handle and the door handle being halfway down the door.

True chevy called it true truck interior and the doors and dash were different and then the luxury. The actuator is the same and in essence the bolt locations are in roughly the same locations.

So every so often, the actual door switches can go bad. Sometimes you can get a bad actuator. I'd take the door switch apart and see if it's dirty, some vehicles get enough dust and dirt from normal use that they can't make contact. I'd say take it apart and clean the switch. That doesn't work order one off the Zahn (free returns) and try it. If it works then, switch was bad. If it doesn't send it back and you may have a bigger issue. If you haven't, check the door lock fuse. Hope this helps

@@automotiveinquiries9673 got this issue myself right now. new actuator didnt make the lock work again, but the switch on that side (passenger) still works i.e. if i hit the lock / unlock, it'll work for the driver side. any other advice?

@doublecal3904 sorry to hear that...that leaves it likely the switch assembly. You can pull the switch assembly put and see if dust and grime has accumulated enough to cause the contact on the switch to not function, you'll need a spay bottle of isopropyl alcohol and some compressed air or air compressor to blow it out. If you get it off the Zahn you can always return either the switch of that doesn't work either. The last scenario and rare is wiring, so you can check the fuses (depending on trim) it may have a separate fuse for drivers side, but the wiring being bad would be rare past the fuse unless you can see mice or something got in there. Hope that helps.
