  • Well we definitely started to create our vision but right now it looks like a mess. Some will like the idea and some won’t. Just need to execute the plan!

I see your vision. Don’t worry about the negative voices, that dont understand how you help the healthy trees by thinning the bad ones. Or the fact you have millions of other trees surrounding you. The views you are opening up are priceless. Your son is adorable. Your wife is very smart and eloquent, would love to see her and hear her talk about her visions for the property. Your videos on the progress and development of this cottage property are my favorites. Very interesting and positive, making your world a better place and we can live vicariously with you. Thanks, Great work.

A wise forester knows you have to thin the trees, and he has to recognise infection in his trees so that he can cut them down, otherwise some infections spread to healthy trees. Then there's natural decay, all of which mean you have to get rid of the affected trees. And as with infections in people, so you have to dispose of infected ones safely using good technique. None of this is easy, it requires knowledge, good observation skills and lots of physical strength and/or specialist help plus machinery. This property is looking more and more beautiful. I'm enjoying watching the little boy and the dogs.

I do not know if you have such things in your country, but here in England my son has put down wild flower seed and when it comes up he just mows a walkway thru the meadow grass. It looks great and brings in a lot of wild life. I envy the huge amount of space you have there land is such a premium here.

Minimal grass-- an unnecessary chore; unless finding a short varietal that is minimal maintenance. Regional self-generating wildflowers as well.
A variety of trees on the point for autumn color and summer shade/ sun mixture.
The fact that multiple trees were rotten or ant-infested negates the nay-sayers. Investigate species that are rot/ insect- resistant for long-term building/ site safety and that will add the difficult to attain ambiance/ atmosphere of a mature stand.
Perhaps a site visit walk-through/ interview with a regional forestry expert/ arborist would make for a good segment or two, plus give you some new ideas.

All those trees around the buildings do nothing but ruin them. All the moisture, needles, moss, fungus has no place on and around buildings... :-) Trees eventually fall and say bye, bye building...
