Supposedly, Bob Justman was furious when he found out. However, for all his foibles as a person, I think Gene's vision for humanity was genuine and something we need more of.
Perhaps Prodigy? Frankly, due to the fact that his character is a hologram, he can appear in any show that is chronologically set after Voyager, including post-timeskip Discovery.

The only reason the lyrics were even written was because Gene was wanted a piece of the composing profits. Because he wrote lyrics, even if they were never used on the show, he received 50% of the royalties.

I just try to imagine someone walking through the woods to come across the EMH singing the lyrics to the TOS Star Trek theme tune into a camera whilst spinning around. If that isn't a pinch me moment for a hiker I'm not sure what would be.
My tribute to Gene Roddenberry centennial: "Space...the final frontier! These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise! It's continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new lives and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before!!"
Clearly, these lyrics were written not to screw over Alexander Courage’s royalties, but so that Robert Picardo could perform them brilliantly on TH-cam.
The other reason that the lyrics aren't publicized is because Rodenberry used them to cheat Alexander Courage, the composer of this famous Star Trek theme, out of royalties by claiming his lyrics constitutes co-authorship. Wasn't the nicest thing he ever did.
We neither needed nor deserved this.
I'm happy with it just the same.
Can we please, for the love of god get this man back on Star Trek shows.
