My suggestion is especially for the women. If you are getting married, then there are something's you must first set straight.
Don't marry a momma's boy.
Don't accept to live with your in-laws, until and unless you feel it is worth it physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially.
Don't ever accept to quit your job, again on your own judgements and decisions based on the circumstances.
Don't give up your financial independence either to your husband or your in-laws.
Don't make children, merge finances, buy properties together, etc. for another 2 to 3 years.
Finally, cherish and use this 2 to 3 years to understand the love of your life, their character, their love, their ambitions, their profession, and of course the finances.
Save yourselves the trouble of a lifetime by simply making smart decisions.

It's because most of these stories were written by Asians based on their Countries and Cultures. That's why the translations are sometimes odd. They use American locations sometimes to make it seem they are American to make it more relatable.
