Good for you. If you let in-laws start mistreating others, it might not stop. Put your foot down immediately otherwise, some in-laws might see that as weakness. THEN they just get worse and worse...
Evelyn doesn't realize that throwing curses around can backfire big time. She thought that she could demand that Rodrick be a good little boy and hand over a house to Savannah after being repeatedly told no.
Evelyn: I won't dare to see you succeed anymore in life when we aren't able to do so ourselves! Me: Then maybe you should, I don't know, ACTUALLY WORK FOR YOUR OWN SUCCESS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!
My grandmother never liked my father. Even still my parents had a good 32 years together before my passed away last year. Now she feels remorse...I can't take it
Nice to see the other side of the coin, where the son in law is the target of the MIL venom. Why does the MIL think that she is entitled to a house? A house that she wants to give away to her favoured daughter too. MIL has several screws missing and it's clear she is totally off her rocker. Both Samantha and Zack are better off away from such a toxic mother and sister. Lets hope the FIL jumps ship soon too and leaves those 2 toxic nightmares to stew in their own venom.
What’s the big deal about having three houses? Lots of people dabble in real estate, or become landlords. If that’s the only thing the MIL is focused on, she must just be jealous. I’m confused.
I find it interesting that it's the son-in-law getting harassed by the MIL cause usually it's the DIL & in the past it was rare to see the SIL deal with the MIL from hell. Samantha & Zachary should have cut ties with Evelyn & Savannah long ago but I guess it's kinda understandable cause Evelyn traumatized Samantha so she was desperate for her approval & Zachary despite fighting with his MIL tried to get along for his wife's sake. I want to imagine after what happened during the last conversation Evelyn went to the police or sued them for what happened but after seeing all the evidence she was laughed out of the station/court. Samantha & Zachary moved away & only keep in contact with Rodrick who ended up having enough & divorcing Evelyn while also disowning Savannah. Evelyn is forced to work so she & Savannah can survive without Rodrick & as said in the After That Savannah is unable to keep a job down. Despite seeing Savannah as the better child Evelyn is finally forced to realize she failed to raise her properly & is the reason Savannah became a lazy failure since Evelyn is stuck watching Savannah fail without anyone else to blame.(Probably made worse by the fact that with being unable to keep down a job Evelyn has to care for her adult daughter) In the end Evelyn finally regrets everything as struggling on her own has made her finally realize Samantha was in fact the better daughter & Evelyn will never get a chance to start over with the family that abandoned her & the ex-golden child. Meanwhile Samantha, Zachary, Nathan & Rodrick are living a better life with the toxic part of the family cut out of the picture. Samantha despite being free probably is getting some therapy thanks to what happened & Rodrick probably still regrets not being there but knows he needs to look towards the future now.
The sheer entitlement of this mil is sure sign of an extremely poor bringing another sign of poor parenting is the lack of consequence for bad behaviour.alsovletting kids have android and other electronics poisoning any decent behaviour and education

I spent my life in those same shoes, but I was the youngest. My brother was the smart one, my sister was the pretty on….then there is me. My sister was married 3 x had 4 children (one illegitimate). But I was the crap child.
There are a few things that Samantha said that lead me to believe she is uppity, judgemental, and looks down on people. For example, she says that her sister went to a "lower class" university. That comment can be taken a few ways, one of which is that others are poor and can't afford to go to any Ivy League schools. Also, she said that all her sister put all her time, money, and effort and resorted into nothing more than a who is only skilled enough to teach beginner classes for kids." To me, being a teacher is admiral, and very important, as teachers are charged with educating our future adults.
I'd disagree with your opinion about Samantha, entirely. There is no arrogance or judgement, not the way you mean it. There is only reaction to years of being denigrated. You can call her uppity, but that is, at best, a problematic word in the circumstances. You do get she was emotionally abused by her mom and told she was worthless. Her mom went so far as to say if her dying meant her sister would succeed, that was okay. She never got praise or support or encouragement it all went to her sister. And Savanah took it to heart. She constantly insulted her sister, mocked her successes as failures and derided her intelligence. So what she said about her sister was her venting her pain and anger at the abuse she'd received her entire life. She had to earn a scholarship and did so to a prestigious university. Whereas the "golden child:" who mom said was Soooooo talented and would go places only got into a less prestigious school and was only qualified to teach beginners. You do get that the teaching part is not the insult in her rant. It's the "for beginners" part, not because it matters who you teach, but because of the implication that a 7 year old who knows how to hold the violin and bow properly and can play "Mary has a Little Lamb" without an error has surpassed Savanah. You are calling the victim of abuse "uppity" for standing tall in the face of that abuse and maybe throwing some shade when talking about her abusers. That is tantamount to calling the black man in the 1950s American south uppity for wanting to be treated like a human being. Just not a good look. Being a teacher doesn't mean jack if you are just an all around bad person A horribly misogynistic man might get his teaching certification. Doesn't mean you shouldn't call him a misogynistic moron just because "Teaching is a noble profession." Likewise being a teacher doesn't exempt Savanah from being the target of Samantha's ire. Her sister and mom are awful, and narcissistic. "You insulted my daughter, so you are insulting me" and "You owe your success to my daughter, so you owe me for your success." should have been the clue. What Samantha did was no different than the ex wife in these stories talks bad to her self absorbed ex-husband. Mocking their lack of common sense.
Who translated this? It reads so clumsily that it can't possibly have been written by an English-speaking adult! It reads as if someone swallowed a thesaurus and dictionary!
I would not let my mother speak to my husband in this manner. And I never have met a woman like this either, thank goodness.

Erh rodrick is Evelyn's husband. The SIL ie Samantha s husband is Zachary

Oh crap. An MC who stands up for themselves from the beginning of the story. Hell yeah.👏👏👏
For once, the MIL is bullying the husband? That's new and refreshing!
Finally! After two years the dialog is spot on for me, especially when he was reeming the toxic MIL
Evelyn is beyond delusional.

I didn’t get to this one until Sat morn. 🦎🏝❤️
Before you curse someone, be aware of the Law of Three. Everything you do comes back to you 3 fold! You don't want to be trying to curse people!
I think this is the first time the husband was being bullied by the MIL usually it’s the wife
That curse is going to back fire on Evelyn's greedy ass
Same thing I said!
Good evening, everyone. Evelyn seems to be delusional

Evelyn should have been sued for verbal abuse child abuse / neglect and threats over the years
The sheer audacity and entitlement, of Evelyn,
Wow, I have never heard ppl say I'm sorry so much.

Well, this is one story where it's the man who has difficulty with their in-laws.
SAMANTHA+ZACHARY
SOUND LIKE WONDERFUL
PEOPLE AS WELL AS GREAT
PARENTS TO NATHAN
(MY LAST NAME) BELIEVING
IN HIM +ENCOURAGING HIM.
ZACHARY+SAMANTHA
SHOULD NOT HAVE LET EVELYN ANY WHERE NEAR NATHAN NOT TO MENTION
HAVE ANY FORM OF CONTACT WITH NATHAN
+ALL OF THEM SHOULD
GO NO CONTACT WITH EVELYN.
Ah yes, when someone marries a nice person and the toxic family dynamic implodes
Dear lord I love me some Zachary.
I don't understand this thing about needing parents permission to marry, and then if they are nasty have anything to do with them! Over18 just walk away LOL
0% common sense.
100% three houses this, three houses that.
Sooo Evelyn wanted to support her lazy and incompetent child?
I spent my life in those same shoes, but I was the youngest. My brother was the smart one, my sister was the pretty on….then there is me. My sister was married 3 x had 4 children (one illegitimate). But I was the crap child.
I can't remember....how many house does he have in his name?
Cor dee uhl? Wrong! 😂
Good riddance to Savanah and Evelyn
Ooooo... Evelyn tried to put a Stephen King type curse on him.
Really great story.
Isn't it usually the artistic kids that are shut out?
Guys, I'm not sure, but I *think* that he might have 3 houses. Maybe.
😂right, they said it several times for no apparent reason
