Will definitely make this pudding, Love the tip of mixing sugar with the cornstarch, when I was a boy stores sold loos biscuits/cookies by the half pound from a large tin with a glass lid Mom would buy the broken ones left at the bottom for a penny a pound to make her version of this she would talk half of her biscuits/cookies, crush them and mix them with half of her custard and pour it in into the bottom of the dish first then build layers and pour the remains of the custard over and top with a sprinkle of brown sugar Thanks for your message at the end I really needed that Bless you Bob

I am, what you would call,, old fashioned and it has always been important to me to have homemade meals on the table for my husband and my children. God bless you. I was first introduced to banana pudding by my mother in law who is a Kentucky native. She makes hers with graham crackers, and slices the bananas length wise. It is delicious. I can't wait to make your version, looks scrumptious!
My mom made the original pudding with the eggs. This is the first thing I remember helping her with by stirring while it cooked. I got so impatient waiting for the pudding to coat the spoon, but it was so good. Now my diabetic in-laws love the one I make for them using sugar free Jello pudding lightened up with sugar free Cool Whip. They ask for it every holiday.

I love your channel it reminds me of home. My grand parents on both sides were of the depression born on the 1920s this is how my grandma on my daddy's side made her banana pudding. They were from south Alabama. It was my granddaddys favorite desert. His nickname was puddin from when he was a kid all his friends and family called him puddin. Great memories. @@TheHillbillyKitchen Tried making some tonight and it turned runny. Used 1 1/2 cup of 1% milk and 1/2 cup of oat milk. The flavor was good. I think I may not have cooked it long enough before putting the cornstarch/sugar mix in because I was afraid to let it boil to much. Will try again later with a fatter milk and let it come to a boil for a little bit longer. I’m using your motto for making biscuits - “the best way to learn to make biscuits (banana pudding) is to just make biscuits (banana pudding)!”

A hack is using cold custard from a carton, then add vanilla extract. It will thicken nicely when you chill the pudding .

I love your channel it reminds me of home. My grand parents on both sides were of the depression born on the 1920s this is how my grandma on my daddy's side made her banana pudding. They were from south Alabama. It was my granddaddys favorite desert. His nickname was puddin from when he was a kid all his friends and family called him puddin. Great memories. @@TheHillbillyKitchen Tried making some tonight and it turned runny. Used 1 1/2 cup of 1% milk and 1/2 cup of oat milk. The flavor was good. I think I may not have cooked it long enough before putting the cornstarch/sugar mix in because I was afraid to let it boil to much. Will try again later with a fatter milk and let it come to a boil for a little bit longer. I’m using your motto for making biscuits - “the best way to learn to make biscuits (banana pudding) is to just make biscuits (banana pudding)!”
