    I am so thankful for you and this video. This is the way my mom use to make it. She passed away and I never got the recipe. My family always get on to me for not having the recipe because everybody loved her banana pudding. Thanks to you I have a piece of my mom that I can share with my family for the holidays and also share with my daughter and granddaughter. Thank u from the bottom of my heart & may God bless u abundantly❤

    I have been looking for this recipe ever since my Granny passed in 2022. She made it the same way except for the merigne. My paw paw used to the lemon merigne pies though. I THANK YOU SOOOOO VERY MUCH. YOU HAVE JUST BLESSED MY SOUL because I was not going out like a sucker with jello pudding and whipped cream. NO MA'AM. GOD BLESS YOU FOR THIS VIDEO ♥

    My mom used the original banana pudding recipe on the side of Nilla Wafer box, which is basically what you did. Therefore, I do like my mom and never use the instant stuff for banana pudding. It is worth the effort to cook your pudding. Collard Valley Cook shows you how to make it in the microwave. I've done that, but still prefer stovetop.

    Made this for thanksgiving and it was SOOOO good. My sister and I's first time making banana pudding from scratch and it turned out lovely. When whisking the pudding, some of the sugar started to stick just before burning but we caught it and it actually gave the pudding a more rich flavor. Used evaporated milk, a bit of banana extract, and split the pudding into multiple neat layers (nilla wafers, banana slices, pudding, cool whip, crushed chessman cookies, and then homemade caramel sauce recipe from Mr. Make it happen channel, repeated x2). For the last layer, made homemade whipped topping instead of cool whip using heavy whipping cream, vanilla extract, and hand mixer. Did not end up making the meringue but will try it next time. Also, used all-purpose flour because its what we hand on hand. This was amazing and now I can't stop thinking about it. Got many raving reviews from family, thank you!!

    About 10 years ago I got the idea to mix my bananas in with my pudding. Lay down your wafers, put your bananas and pudding down. I can have banana pudding leftover for the next day and my bananas have not turned brown because they are covered with the pudding. Does better than pouring lemon juice over the bananas to me.

      Thank you! They are a little softer. I refrigerate it and let it chill before I serve it so the cookies are softer when I eat it.

    Which do you used? For flour you said use all-purpose flour in the video. the ingredients you listed self rising flour

    • @CookinWTaShondaRenae
      @CookinWTaShondaRenae  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ingredients are listed correctly in the description box. I used self rising but ACCIDENTALLY said all purpose in the video. Thanks for watching 😊

    Have you ever tried using a little bit of banana extract? I think that would make the custard more of a banana based, than vanilla based

    • @CookinWTaShondaRenae
      @CookinWTaShondaRenae  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, I’ve never used banana extract but I’m sure it’s delicious as well. Thanks for watching!

    I haven't had banana pudding in years, I'm going to make yours for Thanksgiving. Can I make the banana pudding with just the cookies and pudding? Some of my family members don't like bananas but they love a lot of cookies in it. ❤

      @CookinWTaShondaRenae  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely! You can make it minus the bananas. Thanks for watching 😊

    Good morning. Could I use a torch to get the color on the merengue?

    Hello I have a question. Are you saying that if I leave it on the heat it will become thick enough for me to place in a sleeve to squeeze out into a jar? I’ve recently tried and set it in the fridge overnight and it still was loose. Not sure what I did wrong. I used baking soda I will say that because some recipes are saying to use that as well.

      @CookinWTaShondaRenae  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The longer you cook the pudding, the thicker it will get. I’ve never cooked it much longer than what I showed in the video so I’m not sure about squeezing it into a jar.

    Hello, I have a question... can u use sweet and condensed milk for custard and regular sugar on the topping?

    • @CookinWTaShondaRenae
      @CookinWTaShondaRenae  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes you can! Check out this video. I used condensed milk. Also, you can use granulated sugar for the meringue. Strawberry Banana Pudding
