Thanks for sitting and slow sewing with me. I have just started my first epp quilt, and I am 1 hexagon down out of 246. I'm aiming for 2027 but we shall see. One thing I have learnt from doing other long term projects is to note the date on the top of your pattern paperwork or just a scrap piece - it's fascinating to look back at the end ❤
I have been working on a grandmother’s garden quilt that has been all hand sewn. So far it has taken me about two years. Right now I’m hand quilting it.
I love this. I am a big fan of English Paper Piecing and I like the idea of Quilt As You Go. I found my way here from a Facebook post. I've subscribed and look forward to watching more of your videos.
This kind of sewing is very meditative. I love it. Thank you. I have started one of these rectangle quilts, but it’s definitely going to take awhile. 💕
Usually listen to audio books in my studio while cutting, sewing, pressing, but for several weeks I've had my right arm in a sling. I can still waggle my fingers, so hand sewing binge watching detective series and quiz shows is the go. I enjoy all sorts
I am doing the slow slow slow slow sew Tracy. Since I suddenly lost my husband of 46 years, a year ago to a massive Heart attack & 19 days on life support, my life as a pastors wife & Quilter has changed drastically. Needless to say my head & heart was not in a good place.😭I had to move out of our parsonage home of 14 years! 😢Gave everything away, everything! Moved into a tiny tiny camper back by our old farm house. Life! Long story….. but I just can’t get my quilting mojo back……
I Love this Slow Sew, it's like being on video chat on portal with my sisters. We talk then I do my sewing on my quilts or ripping out seams, while they are checking out facebook or playing games on their phones, there will be silence for a little bit they someone will say something, maybe a conversation will happen. but it is very relaxing knowing you don't Have to keep a conversation going, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I FEEL LIKE I'M WITH A FRIEND.
I’m not currently working on a slow sew seeing I completed a king size 3/4” hexagon grandmothers flower garden quilt made from Aunt Grace prints that has over 3000 hand cut, hand stitched and now hand quilted hexies with 156 flowers plus the paths! Whew so glad that’s done 🤗 so I’m hand quilting a feed sack machine pieced lap quilt I made for myself that I sew on in the evening. I love hand quilting along with the look of it but I like you am on a mission to find 100% linen fabrics at the thrift store myself bc in the future I want to make a linen quilt I just love the drape on it and who doesn’t want a healing quilt 🤗❤️
I have done a big lap quilt. I watch a quilting video from a lady in the UK - stitch with Rachel. She does a lot of hand sewing. And she did this one. And hexagons which just love, haven’t done a quilt yet but I will. But I have made 4 pillows for my wooden kitchen chairs and backs for the chairs as well. I fell in love with hand quilting .So I tend to do paper piecing and the the templates from Daisy & Grace that you can buy at Missouri Star quilting Co. Which you most likely got at her shop. Your quilt is very cute , when I did mine I used muslin for the back and the rest a bee themed. But I love yours so better cause you used the back fabric colors I didn’t think about till I was well into the quilt. But yours is so nice and so pretty,am definitely using the background fabric is colors that just makes the quilt pop. Love it. Thank you for sharing. I love hand sewing it just clams me so much.
Tracy, did you know that there is a front to a needle? I didn't and I have sewed for a LOT of years. But also if you wet your thread ( LIKE me) NOPE wet the eye of the needle. I laughed at this, but it does work. I hand sew some but I always have so many things I want to do....LOL I sure love to watch you. Your so down to earth which hits me. Merry Christmas and have a Blessed New Year.
I’m working on an EPP project. It’s a very slow sew. It’s been going for 7 years now lol. I pulled it out again recently and have been working on it almost every night
I tried EPP a while ago and recently pulled it out again. I recently made a couple of pin cushions. I'm now working on a Grandmother's Flower Garden. Right now I'm making bowl cozies for Christmas presents so my EPP will have to wait. Sometimes I work in silence, but often watch TV, youtube videos, listen to an audio book, or talk on the phone. I really enjoyed this podcast; it was so nice listening while I was sewing, even if it isn't slow sewing. Felt like I had a friend visiting. I'm going to look into starting on the sew as you go rectangles after the holidays. It looks so pretty.
Tracy, I am sewing along with you and loving this project. I am using black backing/framing, and a Kaffe Fassett Rainbow jelly roll. Loving how it looks. I may be using too much glue around the corners. I am struggling at times to get my needle through the dried glue! Other than that I am enjoying the process. It is snowing right now in New England. I am sitting by the fire sewing and watching the snow softly falling outside my window. And I have your video on as well. Thanks for sharing your glue basting version of the quilt I originally saw Rachel making. Merry Christmas! Enjoy your time with your family💕
I'm not working on slow sewing now. I'm putting together kits for blocks that will go out to my guild and will be collected and made into Quilt of Valors. Then I will be working on my elephant, paper pieced. Then finish ufos. So my winter is planned. I was born in Ohio Tracy, in Cleveland. I remember those snowy days. I was outside playing in then. Now days, I'd be following your lead. 😂🎄
I just started watching your videos and am new to quiliting. I'm making your bubble quilt as a christmas gift. So far it's going well. I also started doing EPP and I do find it very relaxing. Merry Christmas.
I haven't counted but I have 1/2 large bag full of finished blocks. I'm with you on the corners and not fussing over them. I can usually get 3-5 blocks done per night while I watch you tube people I enjoy learning from like you.
I bought the templates, but haven’t started yet. Maybe you’ll still be going once I finally get started. 😀 I always have some kind of hand sewing going on in the evenings, it’s quite the addiction!
My eldest daughteer akways wants my quilts. She usuallly gets at least one a year. I have ordered the plastic templates so I can start after the first of the year. Right now I am finishing up my Exploding heart and a quilt for my granddaughter. Love hand sewing, so looking forward to getting the templates.
I love your slow sew! The back is almost as beautiful as the top. I have bought Tilda fabrics to give this a go. Gotta find the linen, your video on fabric frequency made sense to me. Merry Christmas to you and your family🎄❤️🎄
Your doing a really good job on your videos. I love to eat a mystery pie around Thanksgiving and Christmas it's so good. . It was my mom's favorite thing to make around the Holidays . It was her favorite pie to make around the Holiday season . ❤Merry Christmas Tracy Hope you have a an amazing Christmas . Love your content and the videos. ❤
I decided to stitch around the inside edge with embroidery thread on the front to avoid the batting from shifting. Kind of concerned the seam binding stitch won’t be enough to keep those pieces in place after use and washes.
I just got my templates to begin the project and made the first block last night. I never thought about using different colored fabric as backing. I love the way yours looks! I don’t know if I will have the patience to slow sew it, though. I know I’m going to want to use the machine!
So envious that you have access to thrift stores that have linen. Here in Alaska, it is really have to find linen anything at our local thrift/goodwill type shops. I may just have to start shopping on amazon for linen sheets in multiple colors! LOL
@@ShellyFuqua-t2q Yeah I guess I may have to go that route, only I was hoping to get more variations and with a sheet it is soo large the quilt will be one or two colors If I can afford to purchase 2 sets. Shirts or other clothing you can get many colors. But who knows maybe someone will move up here and sell linen stuff. LOL.
I sent you some coffee🤣. Love this video. I sat down on my sofa to do hand binding and saw what you were doing. It’s been nice sewing with you today… Merry Christmas. Enjoy t your kids and grandchildren. God bless you and your family.
Thank you for this tutorial. I did buy the templates, but did not start it yet. I think.i will use up all my Kona fabric for the background not sure for the top. Have alot of squares cut up, so it will be really scrapy. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
How do you think the first embroidery stitches were made? Someone just made them up as they went. Make up all the stitches you want. The only time a specific stitch a particular way matters is if you are following another designers pattern and want it to look exactly like theirs.
I don't hand sew . I love my machine. My husband bakes cookies every CHRISTMAS and has the grandsons deliver them to several of our neighbors. we live in the country where, so far it is still peaceful.
I love the slowstich rectangle quilt i tried making hexagons but to only template i had wasn't even the rectangles should be easier for me i don't usually make quilts but I make crazy quilt pillows and wallhangings i learned how to do that from crazy Rebecca dances with pitbulls on youtube
I have heard that polyester tread can cut the cotton fabric when piecing to make a quilt?, is it the same about sewing the bricks?, please let me know 😊
Hydrogen peroxide will take blood out of fabric. I know because I hand quilted a king sized Hawaiian quilt in echo design. Kept the bottle right next to me.
Did you know , as a person who sews , if you bleed on your project , your saliva ( spit ) can take out the blood stain , but only each persons Saliva works on their own blood. So spit on the blood stain rub it in & rinse w. Cold water.
I enjoy watching your videos, but I don't enjoy sewing. Quilts are not my thing. I'm a knitter. My daughter loves cowls and reversible mittens but refuses to learn to knit. She says it takes to long to complete a project. Ha it's for relaxing not rushing to the finish line.

My slow sew has been a hexi quilt that I’ve been working on for a few years. You’ve inspired me to take it back out and work on it this winter.

Quilting is always about the journey for me….so “forever” is ok in my book…lol 😜
I love your music and I like to hand sew to quiet or low volume music also your music is happy and uplifting 💕
You are so enjoyable to watch and learn from. Thank you so much.
Love your slow sew!!!

My son is a quilt hoarder I have no idea how many I have made for him over the years he even uses one I made 50 years ago😊
Thanks!
Wow, thank you for the support!❤️
My grand daughter is a quilt hoarder. She loves them all!!
I am making a Harry Potter themed slow sew hand quilted hexagon quilt as you go. Just like your rectangles only hexie. Love it

Make your youngest daughter a quilt out of jeans for the beach. My mom and sisters are the quilt holders.
My daughter is the quilt hoarder FOR SURE!
I really have enjoyed watching your videos. I have recently started a slow sew project with hexagons. I've only made about seven so far.
Love the look of hand sewing
Looks great....
I bought the templates, but haven’t started yet. Maybe you’ll still be going once I finally get started. 😀 I always have some kind of hand sewing going on in the evenings, it’s quite the addiction!

Hi, my name is Patricia Hickman. I go to my young sister for Christmas. I do a lot of crafts, and I like to quilt.
I have 104 made. I’m using a mixture of the 5” square, 2” squares and the rectangles and making “blocks” that I’ll sew together a little later

I would love to sew along with you. I just downloaded the pdf. Excited to get started
Woo hoo🎉
My 4yr old grand girl is the hoarder and I’m ok with it lol
I was thinking you got allot done. I'm going to start this soon
Really good tips -thank you and Happy Holidays
Doing a star quilt hand sewing 6 diamonds together for each star and joining them with hexagons. Will pribably take me all winter.
Thank you for this tutorial. I did buy the templates, but did not start it yet. I think.i will use up all my Kona fabric for the background not sure for the top. Have alot of squares cut up, so it will be really scrapy. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I'm working on hexagon EPP
Do you thread multiple needles ahead of time?😊
Sometimes I do....I can only pre thread the smaller needles because they fit into my needle/thread keeper✅
Use hydrogen peroxide to remove the blood. I am a retired nurse and used it all the time on my uniforms.
I don't hand sew . I love my machine. My husband bakes cookies every CHRISTMAS and has the grandsons deliver them to several of our neighbors. we live in the country where, so far it is still peaceful.

Seed stitches are the easiest; you can stitch all over the place :).
I have heard that polyester tread can cut the cotton fabric when piecing to make a quilt?, is it the same about sewing the bricks?, please let me know 😊
I don't know🤷🏻♀️
FYI I run my thread thru my wax so it doesn’t get tangled
I have hexagon instead of rectangles. They are made the same way.
Hydrogen peroxide will take blood out of fabric. I know because I hand quilted a king sized Hawaiian quilt in echo design. Kept the bottle right next to me.
Doing hand sewn hexes. My QUESTION is are the fronts linen too? I know the back is.
No...the fronts are 100% quilt cotton by Tilda✅
Did you know , as a person who sews , if you bleed on your project , your saliva ( spit ) can take out the blood stain , but only each persons
Saliva works on their own blood. So spit on the blood stain rub it in & rinse w. Cold water.
What is applied stitch ? How do you make it?
Applique' stitch. Check out my first vid in this playlist✅

I'm sitting here frantically trying to knit 5 emotional support chickens for my adult children. I will get them done, I think I can, I think I can.
