Here's a dark ambient jam silent hill style on the KORG Volca Sample (version 1). I'm not working with that many samples here so it's tricky to keep it interesting but using Valhalla Supermassive as external reverb helps a lot.

Thanks for sharing. I like the heart beat rhythm that is there in some passages. I have been experimenting with this too. What is curious is that I find this "dark moody" very calming and not eerie. The heart beat makes it feel grounding, which helps the calm deepen. You have nice expansive sounds that makes the calm feel like it is opening up to something vast. The high frequency sounds perk one up a little and introduce some wakefulness. I would call this a Blade Runner type theme.

As for SuperMassive, it's the most wondrous thing, and that it's free amazes me every single day. I'm trying to choose my first paid Valhalla plugin at the moment. I'm thinking Valhalla Shimmer, but I'd like to soon add in another reverb, but can't choose between Vintage Verb or Room. Oh, and Valhalla Plate too. I love a warm vibe. Any tips? Valhalla has to be the first one I buy, that much is sure. Remembering my genre is meditative ambient and drone, and also meditative soundscapes and ambient sound baths. What do you reckon, my friend?
Hmm well I believe you can download demos of all of them so I would suggest that. Vintage Verb is really nice but so is Shimmer! Shimmer has a feedback knob for the shimmers/sparkles and you can tune them to create nice soundscape. One great thing Vintage Verb has going is the different modes for creating different reverb spaces.@@aquietgarden
@@RemixSample I've been using the Shimmer demo every day since I downloaded it. That's how I know I need to go for that one first. Has to be. Having only the demo is proving quite frustrating.
