OG one every time: I put an 808, 707 (sorry, 909) and DMX drum kits on 3 of the pattern slots, leave the other 7 for making loops and other nonsense. If you think about it, this is the only really ‘original’ Volca, the rest just recreate extant things.
You think a volca sample would be good as a drum machine to record demos with ? I plan to load in old kits like a cr 78 and a linn to use as backing beats on cassettes
Adam, thank you so much for the guide for korg sample, thanks to you I learned about the song mode! Do you have any plans to make a guide for loading long loops, for example, in the style of jungle or drum and bass?
Functionality wise, I'm trying to decide between buying a Sample 1 and install the Pajen firmware vs buying a Sample 2 and get the Retrokit RK-002 smart MIDI cable. Is there an advantage of either setup? Am I mixing oranges with apples?
If you want to use MIDI to play the sampler using an external key-board like an instrument sampler 1 with pajen is better. If you want to use it for sampled loops and as a drum machine, sampler 2 is better.
No, unfortunately Pajen firmware is only for Volca Sample original. Not working on Sample NG. Sorry I was a bit unclear on that in the end of the video.
What I really miss in the volca sample and sample 2 is the rec-in! It would be cool if I could just connect and record a loop directly into the volca sample, without having to use the phone or a computer.
Hi! : ) I wonder if you can help me confirm a thing ... There is something with my Volca ( or it's that way on all volca Sample 2 ) ... I have a pattern with some muted samples. When I use the "solo" function, it does what it does, but after I turn the "solo" off, all parts are unmuted automatically. I want the muted to stay muted, but may be that's how the Sample 2 works ? : )
Been waiting this so long‼️🤘 Doubled memory and USB seems great, but you could also upgrade your OG Volca Sampler's firmware to Pagen firmware😁 Then both machines could have their strengths👍
Yes, I think it is definitely worth to install the Pajen firmware. I have the Volca S1 with Pajen, Vosyr and Da Sunlounge vol 2 and now it is way better than the factory one.
Hi m8, using quality cables into a decent mixing desk eg Mackie VLZ ,are the Volcas audio outputs quality good enough for a final mix down into a DAW ?? Would be great if you could do a video on getting the best audio quality out of a Korg Volca , ie , audio leads , rf chokes to minimise noise etc... CHEERS.
I have a Volca Bass and recently bought a second-hand Volca Sample. I was surprised and frustrated that I couldn't start both at the same time with either the sync cable or rmidi. And I can't choose a receive channel either. Really annoying for me.
Just got ahold of the Sample2 myself and learning how to integrate it into my current setup (Electribe MX and TD3) and this was super helpful! I don't suppose you have any recommendations for a mixer or interface that would work with all 3 machines? Awesome t-shirt btw
Thanks for the comment! I use a regular analog mixer when I record my volcas. What is important to have to ensure a good mix is that you have individual volume, equalizer and pan for each channel. Also it is very valuable to be able to add fx, e.g. reverb and delay, so best is to get a mixer with build in fx, so you do not have to buy a extra fx unit later. If you do not have a good sound card yet, you should also consider a mixer with build in sound card, that you can connect to your computer via USB. I do not want to give any recommendations, but an example of a mixer could be Uli's: Behringer Xenyx X1204 USB.
@@VideoJunkXXLI see. sample2 you can backup with the librarian software. Sample OG is however a bit harder... so yes, maybe there is a need for a volca pro series in the future!
It has more then enough just control it fro. The daw and record with portal and arturia fragments and drop your jaws from this machine u need the crunch other samples sounds shit
wonderful review!
Thanks!
that deep house jam was sweet!
Thanks!!
Absolute banger at the end
Goodn Adam, this was a fantastic journey through the Samples 1+2 🙂 We will see us soon, bye 🙂
Thanks! See you soon! 👍

@@johnrodriguez5872 Probably, no reason why it shouldn’t be good
It's a sampler, yet it's original? Huh? Plenty of influences in this device from the 808 style programming interface to the SP1200.

Thanks! Yes, next deep dive episode will actually be on drum n bass!
The reverb is the only thing I don’t like much, but I did change tempo to 10-600bpm. 12pm is pretty nice (12bpm, even)
Nice!
thx for "song mode" on volca2, did not know about it :)
The USB port is enough reason to buy the sample 2 IMO
does it mean nonead USB host, and I can connect my nektar controller to it easily?
@@ymelfilm Unfortunately no, the micro USB is just for sample transfer.
@@lundsweden oh, so I can go with any other volca. Moreover, I read the the sample intake goes through the in-out connectors.
The price is enough reason to buy the sample 1 on the other hand.
Very helpful. Thank you.

No, unfortunately Pajen firmware is only for Volca Sample original. Not working on Sample NG. Sorry I was a bit unclear on that in the end of the video.
Korg better pay you gud, this needs to done more exactly this way!
Nope... no payment from korg.
Can you a Comparison video between the OG FM and the FM2?
Yes, would like to, but do not have the Volca FM2 yet.
What kind of features do you think is missing or if you have any idea of what feature would be great to implement in a sampler?
Anyone is free to comment, any ideas would be a great help

Adam ! Can you share the samples of the fm and the Volca beat ??? Thank you so much !
I'll see what I can do. Maybe I should start sharing some samples in some way. I'll think about it.

Could this sampler help me get drum noises same as the band called provoker
I dont know... Maybe it is not lo-fi enough. But maybe if you save the samples with a lower sampler rate?

Thanks for this precious review! So you confirm that the Pajen firmware works on the Sample 2 ? Apparently Noone has ever tried! LOL
No, sorry. Unfortunately Pajen firmware does not work with sample 2, only with sample 1...
Feels like reason enough to stay with the 1st.
@@AdamVoxMusic Good to know, because in 20:21 it sounds as if you would say that pajen firmware works on both devices.
the Pajen FW do work on the VS2 ??
No, Pajen only works on Volca Sample Classic. Sorry for being unclear about that in the video.

Thank you for the deep dive. I do have a maybe stupid question, but can you clear the stock sample and replace them with your own?
O yes you can. And if you regret it, you can restore the factory samples again.
