i always find engine rebuilds so pleasing. i once watched one that was almost an hour long with a guy just placing and torqueing down new parts to a engine block and it was just so great to watch
The 1MZ-FE is one of the automotive industry's great engines. It runs like a gem, so sweet sounding. The MR2 will be a well driving car with this swap, everything it should have been from the beginning in fact.
My dad had a workshop for about 15 years and i spent some time there in my childhood and teen years. I also helped him out a couple times while working on customer and private cars. I got a midschool degree on metal and automotive technology. Now, i just followed my passion and i am working in an IT dept in a big company. I WOULD NEVER HAVE THE BALLS TO RIP AN ENGINE APART MYSELF! :D :D :D PROBS FROM GERMANY
That's exactly how i learn back in the day with my mates. Rebuilt Ford Cleavland & Windsors, 1HD's, manual gearboxes and even a rotary Toyota diesel fuel pump. Never paid mechanics to work on any of my vehicles and certainly helps if you break down too. Well done boys.
Thats awesome, I have the same engine but with double throttle bodies on my es300 & I just recently replaced the valve cover gaskets & whole ass electrical harness. It doesn't want to start but it was in a fire so its still in the works.
Thank you so much for showing the rebuild. You performed the "lift it out if the body" as I am contemplating for my 1999 3.0L Solara. I suppose that the only way to take it out from a MR2. I love the clutch/manual transmission! Cheers!
I watch their other vids and still think they're awkward... But I still love them, they remind me of some friends i used to have when I was younger. They were always a joy to be around!
phew, it takes guts & experience to take such an engine apart & reassemble....guts, yes, experience zero, yet you guys are an inspiration, so who knows , one day...:)
you did a great Job with the video no doubt; there was a sequence to follow when you tear down an engine (an example would be that you should have removed the harmonic balancer, then the bottom timing cover until you can see the entire timing section; made sure to find top dead center with the crankshaft and the camshaft before you remove the tensioner and timing belt (I get that you had to rebuild but still); I would have loved to see a bit more lengthy footage of different parts (As I am sure it took longer to clean and put back together); Subscribed and will watch more of your videos; great job guys, you remind me of some of my childhood friends (Never lose that!)
Bro, If I want to do top overhaul, do you think it is possible to just let the engine sit still there without dismembering it from the car body? Or should I take the engine out first..thanks
It is MUCH easier on you and the engine to remove the camshaft timing gears with the timing belt on than after removing the timing belt tensioner and the belt.
I wonder if the snorkel is still on there. It's just a big parachute and if it's actually opening into the engine bay then it's also adding pressure where you don't want it and interfering with cooling, which is not a good idea by any means. The very rare original 3 piece kit connected directly to the air intake on the 3S-GE. The stock setup has the intake right at the side scoop to get cool outside air so if that can be accomplished with the V6 then it would be worth doing for sure. I do rather like the look of the thing but making the car worse would be a good pl;ace to draw the line. Say no to degradation!
Really nice video. I want to develop my own high performance engine one day. I understood most of the steps but some explanation and kind of a walkthrough the steps would've made the video so much better. But besides that really good job. How fast can it go??

Haha 😂 we're just lucky we got this engine for free and didn't know the condition of it, if we ruined it there wouldn't have been much of a loss
@@RexH That eases a bit :D
Wow. This inspires me to rebuild and trick out my 2005 Toyota Camry v6. She has 306k miles. ❤

Camera work is getting better 👌 you sure inspire me to do my mechanical work on my own, and learn how like you guys did on your own.
Thats awesome, I have the same engine but with double throttle bodies on my es300 & I just recently replaced the valve cover gaskets & whole ass electrical harness. It doesn't want to start but it was in a fire so its still in the works.
Pretty soon this'll have to be me with my Camry. It's great to watch you guys just actually *do it*. Very entertaining!
3:57 marcus in the back killed me hahaha
HAHAHAH good spot
Rebuild without new pistons, rings or bearings? Were they still good?
Wouldn’t need new pistons, just new rings. Bearings should also be replaced as well on mains and rods
Best asmr I’ve seen
So happy to see the once 'benki' start up.. good job guys! You have certainly inspired me , Rex and the gang
Thanks Curtis for all your comments ♥️😍 glad that we've inspired you :)
very well done on this video, engine looks nearly as clean as Chloe's mechanic gloves :D
Hahahahahahha 😂 too good
this was so satisfying to watch
Thank you so much for showing the rebuild.

If you hadn't watched the other videos you'd think these guys are awkward asf lol
Hahahaa if only you guys saw the BTS of the normal videos 😂
I watch their other vids and still think they're awkward... But I still love them, they remind me of some friends i used to have when I was younger. They were always a joy to be around!
Bro! Them cam gears and seals were real... fun! -__- LOL
WHAT ABOUT THE HEADS.? Did u hav any work done on them while they were off? Just curious
phew, it takes guts & experience to take such an engine apart & reassemble....guts, yes, experience zero, yet you guys are an inspiration, so who knows , one day...:)
You have achieved that goal, brothers. Good work.
Hey its nothing like doing it yourself hands on best way to learn even if the engine don't do well you had that experience
My 2002 camry has this engine, SO RELIABLE

Hella fun to watch

I hope you cleaned out the pcv baffles in those valve covers.
Thanx for the inspiration! Subscribed
No prior knowledge? LOL okay... Fantastic video by the way! Rebuilding one next month!
what gearbox did you use in this project?
Perfect
Great video thanks
Can the 1mzfe engine head work on the 1vz-fe engine block. Need some information
where’d y’all get that manual for the 1mz?
Congrats 🔥keep up the amazing content 🤙🏼
Nice job. Mated to an S54? What'd you do for the axle carrier?
Inspirational 👍

Oh man Jozef! I have told him countless times to eradicate that damn snorkel.... He's developed some strange attachment to it, I'm not sure why?! 😂
Chloe's expression when she drops the bolt! I make the same face. 🤪
Impressive 🚗
good asmr!
love the rich Brian shirt!
I have a 98 es300 with a 1mz fe is there anything I can do to get some power hard to find info
Really nice video. I want to develop my own high performance engine one day. I understood most of the steps but some explanation and kind of a walkthrough the steps would've made the video so much better.
But besides that really good job. How fast can it go??
As soon as I saw it going into the back I was like welp this doesnt apply anymore to my highlander lol blind sided me
Oh yeah Yota powa
Did you bore it?
So like, you both are gunna drag race on a track when the open again right? Age old question which of these two engines are better ;)
How hard is it to rebuild?
I have a 2001 Toyota solara with this same engine and i want to rebuild it to handle a small turbo
I wish you guys were my neighbor so i could help and learn
2 guys 1 engine
Hehe
The Razor cleaning the deck at 1:12 is a HUGE NO-GO!!!!!!!!!! It's Aluminum, NOT Iron......
Yesssssss😖😖😖
wow❤
You guys took 2 second lunch?
Not even half way through the vid and I've had 3 underwear changes
HAHAH best comment so far
Hi where did you get the rebuild kit from
First
4 bolt main caps
There was a distraction!
Elenor Trail
Lots of tools and garage for 2 guys with 0 knowledge 🤷♂️
Not really that many tools my dude, just a simple Stanley box and some screws and wrenches
@@RexH thats a really big toolbox you are working in?
@@RexH pullers torque wrenches impact driver???
@@RexH also did you just take it apart and put it back together did you even do anything?
