Denuvo and microtransactions in a single-player game? Well Capcom, thanks for saving me 70 bucks.
And enigma
I was about to buy this last night, 1 hour before launch, and saw this crap on the stream page. It made me hesitant. Then I watched someone trying to play it live on yt, he barely got to play 30 mins of 1.5 hour stream. Fuck this.
Only buy when 70% off on sale, 6 months to year later.
This also made me realize how special FromSoftware is as a company 🙏
Is that why the game was performing so horribly on PC because of denouvo
Well, Kira there are over 57,000 people playing this game on steam at 3 AM. So I just venture to guess that nobody agrees with your opinion about this game or they’re hypocrites and they agree with you but still bought the fucking thing and are playing it I mean it’s 3 AM, this is in fact kind of a western title I mean I know I know it’s not a western game but it’s a tractive to the western users and there are over 57,000 people at 3 AM playing this game and that’s just on steam and I know it’s on PlayStation and I’m pretty sure it’s on Xbox as well so you’re probably lookingat 100 to 150,000 easily actually more like 150,000 to 200,000 people currently playing this game right now. I’d say you’re in the minority with your opinion about the cash app. Everybody else has looked at it and said it doesn’t matter to me. I don’t have to spend money on any of that shit
70 quid plus micro transactions? Yeah, they can dragon’s dogma nuts right here… 🖕

They're afraid that it will be too ,, expensive '' , so they remove bunch of things that should be there kinda by default, a.k.a change character looks, to make it cheaper and if you want those things then buy em.
Buying an ability to change character looks o.O

@@octitawhythisnameistaken The secret book of metamorphosis is in DD1 and you can buy it for 10k rift crystals later on.
It lets you redesign your characters as much as you want.
Rift crystals themselves are easily acquired once you reach the endgame (Bitterblack Isle) or if your pawn gets hired by other players.
It's already bad enough that they're selling it as an actual microtransactions in the sequel, if itactually turns out that they removed the books from the game just to sell you the solution for real money that'll put Capcom on an even bigger shitlist than they already are.
@@octitawhythisnameistakenI'm not defending micro transactions but they haven't taken anything out. You can get it all in game. Again not defending it.
A separate point is I guess that if you are money rich and time poor then buying something might be seen as a good investment. Again not defending just putting forward what some others will say. Infact Kira mentions it.
Micro transactions are so much of a part of gaming now that an entire generation of players have never known any different. I can remember a time before but I'm guessing a bunch of people can't. To them it's all just a question of degree and invasiveness. I'm also guessing that a bunch of people don't understand the idea that the game could have made a game harder or more annoying just to try direct you to the cash shop. Or that designing and implementing micro transactions takes developer time away from the actual game.
Single player with anticheat, fat list of micro transactions. Dragon Ligma lmao
I'm going back to spread Democracy
ppl like you why wars exist, it is not an anticheat it is "anti piracy software". educate yourself first.
PvE game with anticheat isn't necessarily much better. And this possibly only to protect the progression and MTX that Helldivers 2 itself has. Guess standards aren't very high these days.
and it costs more than a full price game.
Yeah fuck this shit.
@Lenariet by cheating in a pve you practically ruin the experience of the other players in that lobby. There is no one whos experience you could ruin in a single player, the issue is entirely different i think.
@@flirineltd6921There are people who play such games only with friends. I'm no stranger to randoms ruining online PvE with cheats. But it maybe shouldn't be forced onto everyone like that. Some people keep reporting worrisome things about the AC that Helldivers 2 is using. I considered buying it but haven't done so far because I don't want to potentially ruin my system just because a few randoms in the game might instantly kill all the bugs or whatever. But hey, if it's running fine for you and you're enjoying yourself then that's great I suppose. Still, if the reports of the developers stating that their primary reason for including this AC was to protect the progression in the game and by extension the MTX they are selling then in my opinion this deserves some scrutiny.

Didn't the latest Yakuza game charge for new game +? We're almost there.
Whenthe game director said we shall experience an mmorpg in a single player game i kinda hoped it was the gameplay not the micros
When did he say that? I mean .. during which interview? I must have missed that and that would have rang so many alarm bell immediately.
I mean there is about a 95% chance the game director did not want this and capcom forced them to. Arbitrary and shitty DLCs seem to be a standard in all capcom published games
This has nothing to do with the developers or the game director. CAPCOM has some kind of mandate that every game needs to have MTX in them. Look at Resident Evil 4, Monster Hunter World or Devil May Cry 5.
It is 100% one or more high ranking executives that nobody can touch, because these decisions have been shat on and criticized for years now and they still don't change course.
My biggest gripe with this video, in fact, only gripe, is that Kira seems to use "publisher" and "developer" as if they are the same thing. As if developers work hard for years just to fuck their game with these microtransactions.
It is 100% a publisher thing. It is the marketing executives that do this, not developers.
Oh, look, more sheep defending developers and blaming publishers.
That's new.
Not.
This bull crap excuse has been going on for decades. Still happening. Still being defended.
Baa baaaa
It won't be long until these companies start claiming that modding your game for free violates the terms of service, and you lose access to your product you paid for.
Then some studio will make Pal's Dogma: Giga Arisen, where you can make TWO pa..., erm pals, for free. One can be your typical big tiddy, muscle mommy, trad wife. Other one will be cute anime loli cargirl. You will hire other pals and embark on a quest to kill God Zilla, who destroyed your home town.
Game will cost 35$ and have 2kk copoes sold in first week.
Shhhhhh- stop giving them ideas. Please...
that's kind of already what happened with DD2, there's Denuvo and anti-modding crap
also for years Capcom has been clear on their stance on modding, they hate it
steer clear of giving Capcom money if you want a good future for gaming.
Nintendo would absolutely jump onboard with this, but not because they don't want you modding for free, the just don't want you modding at all, because "that's not the way we intended for the game to be enjoyed". They wouldn't even monetize it, they'd just make it so they could revoke your access to the products you've bought if you're caught modding at all, it could be a bloody paid calculator app and they'd still revoke and ban your access if you modded it if they had their way.
I realize this is a tangent from the original discussion, but it's just what this made me think of immediately, and Nintendo doing it would be more than enough reason for other companies to start doing it even if it's for different reasons.
Luckily won't happen in EU. Maybe in US ;)
I swear this shit is why I just play indie games these days
Started mass effect trilogy after 10 years. It's not perfect game by any means but the amount of thought and creativity in first one was amazing.
Hear hear!
All the microtransaction can be earned in the game, so yeah, promising game dressed in microtransaction rags. Not a good first impression. I still buy the game when they remove the DRM, they usually do after a while.
@@F_Around_and_find_out it's just sad, I don't even believe those MTX are worth the trouble to even put them in. So much negative PR for no reason. Maybe if game is didn't have performance issues people will be more forgiving.
It might be worse than you think: the proliferation of this anti-consumer approach will also empower publishers to be more litigious. Consider this; if normal in-game items can be conflated with a real world monetary value then publishers can easily prove that mods, trainers, cheat engines and the like cause direct monetary damage. Disturbing times.

When I was younger I lost my mind on micro-transactions. Thanks so much for this, I will not be purchasing this game.
The single player micro transactions is such a Capcom move that I'm not even surprised that they tried it in Dragon's Dogma now
They did it in the first one lol. This is nothing new. This just got blown up because of the hype. For over a decade, CapCom has done this for lazy people and whales to save 10 mins in 70 hours of a playthrough.

They also have had microtransactions in DMC since 4 to get upgrades faster.
It's so lame.
Hey this might be a hot take to some but I genuinely do not want "stupid people" to get exploited like with microtransactions "that you can just ignore" because if Capcom knew you could just ignore them, they wouldn't have implemented them.
This fundamentally prays on ignorance and new players and no amount of making fun at people making bad decisions will keep me from pointing the finger away at them and point it towards Capcom for even trying to pull this shit.
this has been said a lot and unfortnuateley no one seems to care: if it wasnt important, they wouldnt sell it to you. the point of these and cosmetics is to dangle a reward or experience or convience in front of you and drive you mad with the grind until you finally crack
Are people also completely forgetting that it used to be you were simply able to open a console and use cheats?
God damn... Peeps saying this is for those who are lazy. The lazy people of yesteryear just used in game cheats. Now it's basically paying for player.additem
Imagine elder scrolls games charging you a buck for each time you spawn something in. Or better don't coz it just might happen in TES6
I'm not certain Capcom make a killing of this to be honest, in terms of volume sold. But it costs them almost literally nothing to implement, so any sales they make on this is free money as far as the suits are concerned. But any number of people roped into buying them is too many - utterly baffling that Capcom continuously trade in any good-will they could get for releasing good, complete video games by adding such bad faith "DLC" to their games. They've been doing it for decades now. I find it a real shame that the straw that broke the camel's back was this game though, because it's really fun when you're actually playing and blissfully unaware of the microtransaction travesty that surrounds it.
The microtransaction page and item descriptions do say that you can get those items in game, just to be clear.
Doesn't make it alright, obviously, but it is context.
i get that people shouldn't get taken advantage of but its life and you gotta have some common sense and responsibility. theres so many things that are comparable to this in your day to day life like lets say buying a car you can go to a used dealership and get a piece of shit used car on payments that will come out to cost you more than it would to just get a new car. is it there fault you willingly payed over the normal price just for financing? well yea it is there fault there participating in scummy behavior but its just as much your fault for willingly making the choice to that purchase without forthough. if your going out of your way to make a purchase on something u dont need to buy that is avalible for free to you thats kinda on you. it would be a lot different if they strait removed the stuff to make you buy them imo
All the resident evil remakes did this shit BUT they waited a week or two before doing it each time. Pretty much to a degree since RE7...

Good job you don't have to pay.
@@KyloBis that an excuse? Because then You ate oblivious to the main problem: the fact they exist
Why do I have the feeling all games that have Capcom involved in any way have 2 things in common - first milking people and second having a horrible PC port.
It's not a matter about things being easily accessible in game, but the fact they are even trying to sell it makes it terrible. Much like how in the first Bravely Default Square Enix was trying to sell sleep points for like $1, which you could get from just leaving your 3DS in sleep mode for like eight hours.

Whoever called a consumable micro transaction DLC is absolutely smooth of the brain.
The only reason why they add the items I can come up is that some random higher-ups walked into the office and ordered the developers to add them because microtransactions are proved by the market to be super "popular" and can increase the revenue.
The most horrible part of this is that most of the items they sell are not even hard to get or super useful. For reference, imagine selling 30 mega potions for 1$ and 10 max potions for 2$ in monster hunter. It feels like Capcom wants to scam every single coin out of knowledgeless customers.
The game is not designed around those microtransactions, many design choice are even work against them, for example, the same camping kit sold in the store is cheaper than an early game armor set in-game, and you don't even need one because like 90% of the camping sites have a free kit put next to them. And the "teleport stone" people are talking about can't really make the game more convenient, you can get one early in the game, and more later, veteran players only need one to be efficient and having one or two doesn't make much difference for newer players.
yoooo hiding these microtransactions under DLC is such a pearl harbor move
@@coomerkiller no capcom is a japanese company. hope you can put pieces together here.
Yeah, I never understood the sheer ubiquity of this argument. Whether or not you can obtain it through play is completely fucking irrelevant in my eyes. The game is worse off for its inclusion regardless.
I believe most of it is bots or random Indian guys who were hired for a pittance off Fiverr and given a script to use by AAA publishers. A lot of their drivel is aimed at smearing opponents of this stuff as poor or of low social status, which makes sense, because the AAA industry couldn't stand massive boycotts of their trash and needs to convince normies that only social outcasts refuse to buy these exploitative games.
Imagine 100 people considering this $70 game. If 10 people refuse to buy it, 89 of them buy it but don't pay for MTX, and one whale buys it and also buys $700 in MTX, the publisher breaks even. If the whale buys $701 in MTX, they made more money than they would have by not including MTX. If, on the other hand, the normies also refused to buy, the whale wouldn't have enough money to buy enough MTX to compensate for all the lost sales, so we see these massive (but cheap and low-effort) campaigns to try to push the notion of boycotts out of the normies' minds.
The comparison to Helldivers 2 is actual insanity. It was $40, not $70. Multiplayer, not singleplayer. Made by a smaller studio, not a massive one. The things you buy in HD2 with real money are purely cosmetic (which in a multiplayer game at least makes sense).
I haven't heard a single person mention the fact that the games costs 100 dollars in canada
I wanted to play the game, but I can't get into stuff like this again.
I never thought I would age out of gaming, but this corporate takeover of everything good is pushing me back to being an avid reader. At least so far, if I buy a book, I get to read the whole thing.
Just wait, they’ll find a way to add “downloadable chapters”…
That's AAA, that's Asian gaming companies, have fun I guess.
The developers that actually make games as a passion for gamers by gamers are still there in the form of indie games, which were and still are amazing. Capcom is as shit as Nintendo, EA, Ubisoft, Activision, Acti-Blizzard etc.
Horse armor is different because it is something added. This is features removed from game purposely that you have to pay for, that's found in every other game. It's basically a flag for most of these. Then the game has DRM again purposely, since it's single player. Anti cheat is only there so ppl don't mod a new game or character editor easily. Then a Capcom cloud server for a single player game is again so you can't just make a new game or edit saves.
Except nothing was removed in this case. DRM is in nearly every game from any of the big publishers for the last two decades. They did screw up with not being able to start a new game though.
@@ayrshark9314 You truly think having no ability to delete your save, cloud saved, AND no New Game was simply oversight? Honestly. This is design. This is clearly removing a feature that every game has, to start all over again.
@@peternash7104 Yeah, it was designed that way. Not removed to be put into micro transactions. If it was then you'd be able to buy a save reset right now. Which you can't. It's a design choice that they made for their vision of the game. Is it a bad/dumb choice? Absolutely. Is it the kind of choice you could see any Japanese dev make? Yes.
@@peternash7104 They're not removing a feature and selling it, the features just not there at all. Everything on the MTX list is readily available in-game. Do some research before regurgitating the same bs everyone is spreading
@Wispy2543 Read what I said. You probably didn't understand. But adding drm prevents modding, at least not easily. Then add Capcom server so your local save is moot and you can't just simply delete your save. Then drm also will BAN some people for deleting their save. Removing new game which is found in every single other hand from BEFORE Gameboy Pokémon till now its one massive, self made problem. You can't even really mod a fix that just makes multiple save slots, because drm. Dragons Dogma 1 had no such issue. This is blatantly removing a feature found in nearly every game ever and certainly single player games.
Well that sucks.
I used to have that stance of "oh as long as its optional/can earn it in game so its fine" and even thought "well even if its bad now eventually people will get tired of it and it will have to get better."
That was like 15 years ago but I have just seen this shit get worse and worse since then. Including it pretty much ruining my favorite mmo I was defending at the time.
I then realized that it will never get better as long as people are not only willing to buy this crap but also if people defend regardless because "its optional" or "you can earn it all in game" like I was.
I definitely regret defending this crap even the slightest.
Don't be like me, don't wait till they are holding the head of your favorite game/franchise under the water to see how much its willing to pay for air before getting outraged by this crap.
Cheers.
fun fact all of these items were in the deluxe edition and you can get all of them ingame the camping gear you can buy with gold the pawn and character edit costs 300 and 500 rift crystals which you can get that much in like 3 to 5 mins just killing shit with pawns and sending pawns back the portacystals you you can get a shit ton from just doing quests hell there is a cheat engine table that allows you to add them too. Not defending it but we both know what this shit was added shareholders
Why people do try to justify this is called "post purchase rationalization". Basically the opposite of buyers remorse. You made a purchase and search for reasons why it was a good one and worth your money.
Not being able to admit to oneself they made a wrong choice.
I mean, I haven't bought the game. I just think it's funny all this outrage is about exactly the things the first game did. That one also had a couple dlcs for (I believe exactly the same) ingame consumables that were totally pointless. Went back and checked my storage in DD:DA to see my stack of 630 wakestones, lul. Capcom is shitty regardless, so I'd rather see a game where the mtx are pointless and completely avoidable than something where they actually try to pressure you to buy them.

I'm completely in agreement that such micro transactions in Dragon Dogma 2 are totally out of place in a big priced single player game.
On the plus side, from someone who even had developed in-game stores (from online to UI as a prog) on 2AAA, if you're not working at a studio that owns teams of monetization analysts + aggressive corporate practices), you're greatly over estimating the malice of the dev team; even if corporate asked for this, they clearly did this to just shut them up. I almost believe they even did a poor job on it by design so it gets enough backlash to cut it post-launch
Really upsetting. A game designed to be super immersive just tainted so hard. I don't want to see USD when I'm trying to escape reality into a game
It's still very immersive, and I guarantee if you played it, you would see it's not tainted in the least.
Thanks to the pointless mtx being dlcs you will only see them in the steam store, not actually in game, lol.
Capcom keeps doing this shit, they put out a great game and then sell a bunch of extra currency or cheats. Doesn't seem like they'll stop, but it also doesn't seem like the game design suffered so far and they also didn't really ramp it up.
Key word being "so far" of course. We cannot know if they're doing an extremely slow boil or they're doing the bare minimum to satisfy sime kind of corporate/shareholder mandate. How much evil and how much incompetence are in these decisions? We don't know, but either way it's shitty and I really wish they'd stop.

The premium Campkit can't be bought in-game. Buying the microtransaction UNLOCKS being able to buy it ingame. And it's basicly weightless, compared to the vanilla ones which are heavy. And unlocking it gives you one "free" kit.
It’s 0.5kg lighter than the lighter vanilla one. That’s not weightless lol
@@phantasticpanda2535 You're missing the main point. That is still a gameplay advtantage restricted to USD only since the game has weight management incorporated into it.
@@phantasticpanda2535 from the vids I've seen, they lay into how much lighter it is than the basic kit. Are you talking about some endgame kit you only can acces after 500 hrs vs the premium kit?
Only thing Helldivers 2 has is super credits for the passes besides the base game one and armors with different effects. The thing is the credits can be earned with each found stack between 10 and 100. Its not anything to make leveling faster or some other boosts.
The thing about the slippery slope is that for a DECADE we've been having this discussion. Things haven't changed and they won't change. Gamer's DON'T vote with their wallet at large. Boycotting this or getting upset about it doesn't change anything, we have at least 10 years of conversations about it to prove it.
AAA publishers will always shoehorn in MTX's. This is just reality now, and no amount of anger will prevent it.
I'm not saying we should be grateful that the MTX's in DD2 are relatively tame in that everything can be obtained through gameplay, but i think it's totally valid to tell people they're being dramatic for acting like the MTX's are the worst thing that Capcom could have done, especially compared to some of their peers in the industry.
Performance, Denuvo, and cloud saves are a problem for sure though.
Though it's not like people are going to even care about this in 2 weeks anyways.
Back then you could get that stuff with cheat codes... now they just want us to pay for it 😢
or just pick it up off an enemy, lol
Not justifying this at all, I would rather not have this. But people acting surprised when Capcom already did this since DMC5 where you can guy the upgrades, same for RE4. In capcom case they are selling cheat codes.
Earlier than that too, DMC4:SE did it as well for the Super Costumes and Souls.
Monster hunter as well
Re 2,3,7 and 8 all did it too.
The real funny thing is people acting surprised since they did *exactly* the same thing in DD1. A couple DLCs for items you would never have any reason to need to buy.
Whataboutism isn't an argument when people complained about microtransactions back then too
the "dont buy it/ignore it" argument is just as bad as whales bleching forth tons of money for MTX. every purchase drives that sword deeper.
As someone who has very fond memories of DD. Living in a much worse situation then am in now,
DD was a nice escape from reality, and I loved every moment of.
This? Is heart breaking.
Am done getting excited for new releases.
Thank you for taking that away from me Capcom.
This isnt new for capcom. Theyve been doing this with MH for years, locking dozens of cosmetics behind microtransactions. I get its a little different in DD2 cause its consumables but this isnt where the slipper slope started, this is where it took us
Yep, I was looking forward this a lot... but now I won't touch it with a barge pole.
2 dollars for editing characters? Capcom success has gone to their heads up their own butts if they think charging those ridiculous microtransactions are okay... Not to mention the DRM denuvo making the game crash and the game is tied to online only infrastructure.... For a single player game.... Bruh

Was looking forward to this one, but alas, I'll at most torrent it.
I'm torn on this game. I'm having a good time with it so far, but seeing microtransactions was off-putting. I don't mind the lack of fast travel. The first game was like this.
Keep in mind Kira that about 70% of posters on X are now bots engagement farming. Bad takes are good for driving engagement

Buy dragons dogma dark arisen & see for yourself
Its the pawn system
It's even worse - you can't delete your single save file. You're stuck with it forever without an option to start a new game (although they just promised to change this in an upcoming patch, but still).

@@mattjohnson8585 well, tbf it's also on their servers cause of the pawn system.
The problem with the micro transactions is, unless you played the first game, you wouldn't know that the metamorphosis is something you can get ingame
The issue I have with the game is you can't start a new game.
You only have one play True of the game and you can't play again.
For full release game the optimisation for the graphics is very bad.

Bang on the nose. MTX isn't even the worst part though - you have the option to buy convenience, sure, but you don't have the option to start a new game? That has to be added in later? Unfathomable to me

They just spend tons of money without really thinking about it. Those are the people that i meant because they're the problem. And most of those guys play on console.
Yeah, the MTX is pretty silly. Performance issues isn't necessarily permanent (unless they fail to support the game post-launch) and not everyone experiences it the same. Denuvo's not popular, but I don't think publishers are ever going to give up their precious DRM. That said, I know Kira mentions hating a company trying to start some tactic to make money, but I've noticed it's fairly common for Japanese publishers to make MTX like this. I'm going to assume it's a tactic that works well with Japanese customers.

sounds about fair 1 quid a fps
I might pick it up around 10€ or when part of Humble Bundle. Probably just skip it, seems to not even be that good of a game
Imagine if Final Fantasy said "you have to pay for save spots during the game, you have to pay for unlock every character early, you have to pay to get army or just far it for 10hrs"
There is an easy to understand but not well known business expression, it goes by: Create a problem, sell the solution.
In games, they design a hard barrier to overcome but sell a bypass. This is a good business model but a bad game design.
Now that i think about it, this might be a test to see if they can sell rare monster parts in the next Monster Hunter game without major backlash. There's always been those people who would rather pay $10 than hunt for the 2% drop rate part they need for their gear in a game where making the gear is a much bigger part of the game than using it. This is why I've always been against monster part trading since people would instantly make eBay listings for the rare parts.
I actually think a barter system is pretty OK if implemented in MH. Materials have their 'barter points' similar to 'melding points' and you can trade materials totaling the same number of 'BP' with another hunter. Maybe have materials locked to new hunters until first-time hunt of the monster. It makes sense in an immersion standpoint as well, with how many delivery subquests we have.
However, I will be vehemently repulsed if it's circumventable by real money.

Capcom: "If you want us to stop adding microtransactions to our games, stop buying them"
I mean its a good argument, when a business is given the choice between "Free money" and "No free money" they would be hard pressed not to choose option one
really good nuance , the entire issue is like you mentioned "the incentive" , that mtx warps the dev's design of the game to make it worse in order to sell the solution . the game for no reason has limited character slot and editing , not because they need to keep the server data cost low on their end , because its a single player game . they are selling a difficulty easy mode / convenience that continuously charges you for each use of it , incentivizing them to make aspects of the game annoying and needlessly difficult , trapping the good aspects of gameplay behind annoyances to try and get people to pay for the removal of those annoyances that the designers put into the game for that purpose .
The moment I talked to an NPC in Dragon Age Origins and a freaking payment screen came up after trying to accept the quest... I gave up on the AAA industry. This stuff shouldn't shock us anymore. The developers may love us as gamers sometimes, but these publishers see us as wallets, nothing more.
News flash! Majority of people don't care if a game has microtransactions.
Us: I can't understand why people accept this.
Ya, it gets pretty tiring after 10+ years of the same thing being said repeatedly and nothing happening. ngl, at this point, I don't even give a shit anymore. I just don't play the game. Especially when I can play a better game for half the price made by someone that cares about games.
[edit after finishing the vid] My point is that everyone in this argument treats it as they aren't understanding just like this vid. But in reality, they just don't care. And nothing we say or do will change it. We are just a loud minority of the community yelling into the void very loudly.
Yeah it's the problem where any boycott doesn't work because they simply replace you by making more money from people who do buy it.
Where was all this negative backlash when Capcom pulled this crap with Monster Hunter World and every single Resident Evil Remake!?
The people complaining about this now are full of s!@#, Capcom have been pulling this microtransaction crap in their games for years, but not a single person gave those RE remake games and Monster Hunter World or Rise a negative status on steam.
If people had spoken up when they did this in their earlier games, we probably wouldn't have gotten microtransactions in Dragon's Dogma 2, but they didn't, so here we are.
As far as I know, being a Monhun player, they added skins, pets, and pendants for weapons. All of those things do not impact game play. The difference with Dragon's Dogma is that what they're selling are things that do actually impact the game. Not the appearance stuff, I don't care about that, but linking MONETIZATION with GAMING SYSTEMS is fucked up and world's apart from giving a hunter a god damn skin.
@@lilpixie25 Re-customizing your character now costs vouchers in Monster Hunter: Rise that you can buy with real money. It used to be unlimited access before the DLC but now it's paywalled. A character editor that was built in to the game should NEVER become paywalled after release, you not caring doesn't change that.
the real question is, where was all this backlash when Dragon's Dogma 1 did exactly these same things. Honestly, if a game *has* to have MTX, which I would obviously prefer it didn't, selling a couple consumables that you would get more than you needed by just playing the game is honestly funny to me. It'd be like if skyrim had a dlc that gave you one restore health potion. If you can play the game at all, you'll never even think about buying it.

My point I tried to make with these people is that when they add micro transactions to a game like this but it’s also available in game. What’s going to happen is the “free” way to get it in game is going to be very Grindy and time consuming to make purchasing via micro transactions more appealing. I got blasted by people defending this game on Twitter so hard 😂
Yet they fail to realize other games with these basic mechanics are free when you purchase the game. FF7 rebirth didn't have a store for me to buy consumables that revive my allies or let me fast travel when I want lmao. I also had multiple save slots.

@@Blackreaper95I feel like with Monster Hunter it could be justified to a point, because that game gets frequent free updates 🤷♂️ DD2 won’t even have that excuse.
Yeah but at least the game actually ran well and those MTXs are so worthless because it's incredibly easy to get in the game, I don't know who would ever purchase them. DD2 tho? This is on a whole other level, this is just stupid, MTXing a character edit? Absurd.
@@askiia8713 DD2 is the same, everything on that MTX list can be found in game, making the whole thing pointless as well. The only problems are the optimization and the inability to start a new save.

We can play this game, and not interact with the shop at all. Once. Let them see that no one wants to buy anything. Then if the devs decide to commit suicide by lowering the drop rates or spawn locations of said items, to force us to buy from the shop, review bomb, and stop playing.
Let me first start with; I agree in general, but my convictions aren't as high when it comes to DD2, partly because of DD1 and my experience there.
So I've played both games, both gams had Mtx (DD1 had less, but different and more game-breaking than DD2's), and so how is DD2 contra DD1's balance, as it pertain to Mtx-related items? DD2 is by far more generous, with the 'mtx' related items.
Both the "fast-travel" item, and the "character creation" item feel like noob-traps designed to trick people suffering from FOMO, and\or regret\wishing for an easier time, without realising how either really work.
--
For the portstone (TP-item). It lets you place it and it becomes an TP-able spot (you can only teleport to specific spots, i.e; capitals and portstones, anywhere else is non-tp able), you'll still need to find\buy ferrystones, which is expensive
are, having a portstone from start of the game serves little purpose, and will make the game harder by frequent use (due to how you'll be hurting for cash, thus can't get new equipment, etc, etc).
To utilize the 'character creation' item, you need to get to the capital and walk to the building right next to the building that sells it for in-game currency (which, by this time, you'll have at least 1K of, thus can afford 2 if desired)...
So yeah, noob-traps.
First game I recall seeing this was NFS Carbon where you could purchase cars that were in the game already, just to get them early.
So many people on the forums + sub reddit just saying "These items aren't p2w" or "You can buy a character re-customization in game, if I didn't hire higher level pawns I would have enough money to do so already", but you know that normally in a game character re-customization is normally free.
Much like DD1, you have to find a barber to edit your character. DD2 is the same concept. Most people didn't play the first game and think the QoL DD2 does is new.
The worst part about microtransactions is that there’s enough marks to keep it going
Capcom going out their way to add micro transactions to a singleplayer game but no fixing the optimization is hilarious and i bet this issue is gonna last a few months so good luck for those who bought the game on release and dont have top of the top specs to fight against 25 fps battles
The closest 'example' I can think of where char customization post-game start being restricted, was Conan Exiles. But that's because the devs needed a while to get the way to implement it properly and added it behind a paywall (the Derketo pack).
Idk if it's this bad or not. Because in CE it also was locked behind a 45 level grindfest. But then again in CE, recreating a character is super easy with the Remake option rather than grinding the customization orb.
This goes beyond the usual greed-driven microtransactions seen in purchasing exclusive cosmetics within a single-player game; this is essentially removing fundamental content from any video game and then attempting to sell it back to players as a solution to a non-existent problem.
Nope, didn't happen, all the stuff is easily picked up in game. Literally picked up from the ground, free of charge. It's just stupid MTX capcom does with every game and it's pointless.
Sleeping at an inn in Dragon,s dogma 1 varied from 50 gold to 500 Gold (in the main city), it is now 1000 gold everywhere even in backwater towns. Kits don,t drop often so you need to buy them at also 1000 gold or sleep at 1000 gold. It is cheaper to buy armor than sleep at an inn hahahaha, WONDER WHY?!
One of the tavern holders even mentions ''I don,t get alot of customers lately'' NO WONDER WHY?!
You can’t buy gold though through micro transactions and the camping kits aren’t consumable. I had 3 in my first two hours and have only used the same one every time. You’ll also earn like 10,000 gold from most quests so I’ve literally never had an issue.
Jeez, that alone just confirms it was rushed.
Aint no reason a fine detail like that was changed.
Over the many years of gaming, I have only heard of one game where some of the MTX was rolled back, that was Warframe. I've only heard it once, so not sure if this only happened once or it happened frequently enough that it stopped being news.
To be fair... Currently in some bad financial situation and this made following moth much easier to handle. Can't imagine if the launch went as well as we hoped.
1. Yes, it is scummy that they did this and I don't support that aspect
2. The game is amazing and you can literally ignore the microtransations and not be affected by this at all
This is a great game and u can ignore it but the fact there the gall to do it is repulsive.
@Soraking007 I agree completely. I just think it's pointless and counter intuitive to try and claim is a bad game because of it. That clearly isn't true but people will say it ad nauseum. I also don't think boycotting the game all together is even effective at all. The game is gonna sell well either way. You'd be giving better data AGAINST microtransactions if you bought the game and didn't touch the in game purchases. Buying the game itself doesn't magicly support the microtransations if you don't buy them
Where was the outrage when RE4R and RE8 did this?

It was utterly shocking at the time and got massive backlash... and yet they continued to do it in EVERY game since, and the consumers and press has gone utterly mute on it.
Really i would put the responsibility for this slippery slope squarely on them (tho i admit Beth paved the way with Horse Armour).
