So yep. Grindy K-MMO. Useless block chain in game. The future is here!

who cares as long other players play it... if you hate it so much then don't play it... it's that simple...

"look at all the NPCs just stood nearby" [as violence insues]. I remember how in Ultima Online (1997), townsfolk or shop-keepers etc. would yell and try to call the town guard if they witnessed theft or assault/murder. guards would come in and kick the offender's ass if called. you could call them the same way, by saying/yelling "guards". if a crime was commited but nobody called the guards, you mostly got away with it (or if you were able to pick-pocket somebody's pack while remaining hidden). you still might be flagged criminal if caught and be attackable without penalty for a little while, also there is a karma system, so you lose "karma" by doing immoral things
Whatever happened to our lovely Earth 2..?
And that guy, with the small desk.
I second this
i have been dying to get an update on it. seems like the novelty of crapping on it just worn off and everyone forgot about it

If I remember correctly, Arya asked Kira not to do any more videos on him. And afaik (as evidenced by the lack of E2 videos) Kira respected that, despite Arya probably not being worthy of said respect.
5:25 I just let out a loud "Noooo" at that gameplay... Come on man... It's a copy paste mobile game with an added bonus, all those sweeping shots of the landscape from the trailer? Say goodbye to that. This shit makes me miss that 50 WoW clones that came out when I was a teenager...
asia loves games like that. grindy mobile game with 0 depth and a million options to customize and buy stuff.
I made the mistake of playing WeMix's port of DarkEden (WeMix is a name WeMade uses in other countries it seems). It was an old Diablo-like action RPG and I was like, "Oh, this could be cool."
Then it was P2W garbage, full of bots trying to earn crypto (so even if you were crazy enough to want to cash out, it was worth nothing), and the game had the *exact* same UI as what was shown in this video. Same layout, same buttons, everything.
There's like 5 mobile game engines. China has their usual engine, seems like this is the one Korea uses.
6:38 what's worse is that according to the timer, it took 20 minutes.
20 minutes of mashing buttons standing still.
Wow, well spotted!
Simple solution, any software that contains web 3, nft, etc should be illegal to market as a video game. They should be required to register and advertise as financial products.
A "Morion" is a Spanish helmet. Crypto currencies has the most ridiculous names.
Kira is there any way we could get an update on Earth2 youtube "not a financial advisor" investors? I tried looking around but couldn't find anything interesting myself.
WE DEMAND a new EARTH2 video
I'm thinking it's probably due to there just not being anything there... which would be sad - not because I want Earth 2 to succeed but because I love the content mocking it's failures
Make it happen
I think he stopped when Ayra started falsely striking/claiming videos which only started after Kira exposed him being a creep.
I’d say an update on Earth2 and crazy Shane, not so much the investors. We all know they are still sitting around waiting for the epic launch! 🚀
Kira, blockchain will *never* be implemented in a way that actually adds something to games because it doesn't actually do anything that can't be done more easily through other methods.
I think it can, it's just done in such a god awful way because it also involves people who "hold". It could very well be a different story if that wasn't the case.
The other methods are their own wheels, each valued the same when done right. Blockchain just hasn't found it's chisel yet, which I do believe it out there somewhere.
I also believe it can't work for all games, and the games it can work with are so diluted with crap. I'm no "crypto bro", but I think it could work some day.
@@MagicSlay "it can, except for this one inherent thing that comes with it which prevents it from doing so"
lol what. Thats a LOT of words for "i agree"
@@pokerusfreak8194 did you not chose to not read, or not understand?
I believe it can be done, but it's being done wrong now.
@@MagicSlay I agree with the other guy tbh, I really don't see how it could ever work. The moment you introduce a financial incentive into something it'll start attracting the people who are there to hoard and hold whether you want it to or not. I don't see how those two things could ever be separated. Unless you mean using blockchain without the ability to buy/stake/sell/etc. at which point it's more efficient/sensible to just stick with more traditional/proven methods of storing data.
"through other methods" is not always best method, nor preferable to a developer. You think steam items is the way to go instead of NFTs? why? what makes them more optimized? the fact that valce cuts 30% from original mark and 15% form secondary make it great? that you can los them on a whim, or you don't know how many there are and how diluted the market is and the developer who promised not to make more - can always make more and you won't know?
that the problem with some people. "I can solve it with a database" is not an argument. What you code in c++ I can code in Java.. so what? does it make c++ obsolete?
Kira has a good take on the real issue. issue is not the technology. It's people, and the "investors" bullshit.

"why is the industry the way that it is" just a perfect question
It just reminds me of those novelty controllers you could get in the 16-bit days, you can make them as crazy as you want but everyone is still going to pick up a normal controller to sit down and play a game because it just doesn't add any value to the experience.
oh a blockchain game, there goes any sort of curiosity I had
I see mobile, I see Auto Play, I see NFT/Token. I see my way out the door.
Any time I see a countdown timer in a game that makes me wait to do various activities, I say no.
MMO + NFT + Crypto. What can go wrong?
Its sad really...Gamers dont undertand how much power they have to make the changes in gaming.
I think it could be generalised to "consumers don't understand how much power they have...", or even "people don't...". But I think it's not just that people don't understand they have the power to change things, I think many people are afraid of the responsibility it entails to do what's necessary for change. It's far easier to complain, but continue the damaging behaviour. They want to have the cake and eat it too. For example, many gamers complain about live services, yet they continue to buy them. What will happen is that the companies making live services will receive a lot of money, and will naturally believe that this is what gamers want. It's quite rational: if a dog gets two treats when sleeping on the couch, but only one treat when sleeping in its cot, naturally the dog will sleep on the couch.
I don't think the average consumer, gaming or otherwise, has learned how to "do without," an essential part of consumer power. Collectively it is what we don't buy that matters more than what we buy.
L2m copy paste. Hard pass p2w 100.
i loved the "new economic ecosystem based on blockchain"
and the picture they chose to represent it was nine different tokens that all linked to each other in convoluted and nonsensical ways.
cant wait to see how long that ecosystem lasts
it was at 7:29 for those wanting to see the ecosystem
ah, it was only 7 tokens, my mistake
A long time ago, my foray into this kind of game was Entropia. After about an hour, I realized I didn't have nearly enough disposable income for this kind of stuf.
2:10 "No, I hate people..." I think the pause there is beautiful and I, too, hate people, Kira. Who use cryptocurrency of course, sorry, forgot to add that part.
Have you seen Aryas E2 pre alpha footage first look 😂😂😂
Aw man, guess I'm gonna have to watch it alone and make my own jokes 😓
I don't know about the "banking the unbanked" thing either. It seems like when they have tried nobody has wanted to use crypto anyways because it is still much more of a hassle than just regular money or even a regular credit card. A system like the one we have in Sweden with payments validated via your phone number and an app to validate your identity makes so much more sense than implemeting a blockchain even in poor rural areas. At least to me. You still need all the same stuff for the blockchain plus all the extra uncertainty.
It get big hype here in SEA, that "make money" tag sure is effective 😅
So far, I haven't even heard a plausible THEORY on how a blockchain could add to a game in a way that a traditional database couldn't.
- An expensive "zero trust" network doesn't seem to add anything in an environment where the developer has to be a trusted central authority anyway.
- Sharing items between unrelated games using blockchain would require more dev effort than doing it traditionally. And is of dubious value anyway.
- Even being able to pay-to-win and cash out game items doesn't need crypto. You can do that with the exciting new technology of "banks" and "credit cards".
Also, if your loot is put on the blockchain, you will
1) wait for the transaction to be processed (might take minutes)
2) pay a transaction fee (oh how fun).
Its sole purpose is for financial transactions, its what its designed for, I don't see the "Game" in financial transactions, the corporations do tho....
What I hate about web3 is that technology can fuel art. Gaming is built on tech, just as film was during the golden age of cinema.
But web3 offers no usecase for art except 'art = money'
The idea of art and publishers etc is that you sell your idea, they give you the money and you get to make art and they hopefully get to make money.
It's a partnership.
Web3 just cuts out the middleman (the artist) and skips straight to the money.
For a lot of people, this is wonderful. For me and most gamers, it's the antithesis of what games are meant to be.
Someone ping Josh and Jauwn because we have double feature here!
That would be amazing tbh
4:17 the actual reason is TH-cam silently lowered bitrates for all non premium users, in order to sell more premium subscriptions. Already noticerd poor quality video since about a week now.

Would be really interesting to hear your thoughts on where blockchain could add value, because I'm not seeing it.
Thanks Kira!
How dare they soil the name of the Night Crow from Digimon World Dusk!
I mean... trying to make a living with cryptoscam games, meanwhile there are indie and small games like palworld, backpack battles, vampire survivors... well take that last example, they could make a "good" clone, in like what a month of time sell 10/20k copies at 5 bucks, like everyone and done, you made money... not millions sure but its "honest" work.... backpack battles just got out, its fun addictive no microstransaction bullshit, already sold 100k* copy, the game cost 10 bucks and im sure we will soon see many clones come out...
Since greed seems to rule all why not limit blockchain to inventory and keep it away from finances!!
The idea of an MMO running on crypto is interesting, minus the obvious P2W BS. Currencies like WoW gold have real value attached to them that fluctuates, so it already acts like crypto.
"You're a marion if you buy this" made me cackle. That needs to be a new insult for people who white knight these type of projects.
That reminds me of the ni no kuni mmo... They wanted to add nfts for the Western server, why? Who knows. many people left because of that and how crappy the servers were. Still live but who knows.
It's p much just full of bots grinding for the integrated cyptocurrency at this point, plus the actual newer gameplay is so rough and untested half the time the models end up tposing or missing textures. Seen it myself, I still have an account from day 1.
@@celarts5752I'm playing since day 1 and we no longer have any bots on our server, only real players left.
The sss? Crazy to me that they got the special support section from crossbell to help them with this project. Count me in.
I hate blockchain, I play MIR4 and you know what i seen there? BOT players keep mining "ore" thing to exchange it for crypto token, almost 90% of the spot are being mined and most players who guard there are high level players whose gonna killed you if they spot you mining "ore" and steal your spot. Its challenge to get end game gear if you can't mine those premium "ore" its the only way to get upperhand to get faster higher gear. I didn't care about the Premium "ore" to exchange it for token, i only wanted it to get end game gears but alas it will be a challenge.
I think the only thing that has any value is the time you've sunk into an mmo or the characters on an account. i'm sure i'm not the only one here with a wow account made as far back as early 2005. there were only so many accounts made during that time, better yet if you've been continuing to play since then. I think my mmo accounts have too much sentimental value for me to try to sell them but, if I did, I bet I could recoup several grand. There is some inherent value there seeing as that amount of effort is not easily replicable. But I don't think this is ever going to translate to NFTs or digital rarity/scarcity in the same way that sinking x amount of time playing a persistent game does. the only real value is not having to do all that but getting the result.
Every time I see the world showcase in trailers I go straight to sleep

2:08 Kira is 1000% 100 here, there's a crypto that was founded as a transfer system between hospitals instantly and securely. It's niche, it's never gonna be Bitcoin big, but it is absolutely useful and probably one of many that fall into that category.
And then there's Dogecoin
Tokens used to make tokens used to make a different token to sell. Sounds like E2 except this actually has a game

4:14 Those paths make no sense.
I have never heard of the trash games you find, but that's ok because now I will know if I see these anywhere to steer clear
I think the game is about crows that fly at night.
I actually tried Mir4, lasted for about a month until I realized nobody's playing it for the actual mmo content, everyone's there to just fcking mine Darksteel, not to mention the game is filled to the brim with bots with the sole purpose of doing dailies and mining. Then I saw this game got released, from the same developers no less, and another attempt on their blockchain bullshit, I quickly realized this is just gonna end up just like Mir4. The sad thing is, most casual mmo players from my country (PH) seems SO EAGER to play this just because it's P2E (and also gonna be available on mobile and HEAVILY P2W) just like Mir4, they're ready to waste their time on another K-MMO auto-play grind-fest, just for the sake of possibly "earning" from their endless grind, again.
Edit: it seems that they've started playing it here in the SEA region, the PC version at least. And aside from it being almost identical in every aspect to EVERY k-mmo out there (specially their previous game Mir4), the servers are also overloaded that they literally have to wait 30mins-1hr just to log in, with tens and thousands waiting in the queue. And everything is auto-play again, as usual. And I was right, they only play it (at least most of them) because it's "play-to-earn", they don't really care about the gameplay and anything else. This is just sad.
Weird that people are finding reasons to push crypto games when entropia exists as you said. One would think these people would be all over it, but for SOME REASON they dont want to indulge. Couldnt possibly be anything to do with the profit-model for the players being less swing-y.
The companies making the games crypto are at fault absolutely, but it's also the fault of those who wouldn't touch the game if it didn't involve it.
If it wasn't so plagued by people "holding", then I'm sure there could be *some* that could have done it. Even if slightly better than what we normally see.
No, because the entire premise is just broken
1) You really don't "own" a game item on the blockchain. What is on the blockchain associated with your "wallet"/address is just a token representing an in-game item, and that game is on the oh so centralized game servers that have decided to support that token. If the game shuts down, your "item" is worthless. There is no incentive for any other company to support it in their games.
2) If you use that wallet/account for other things like crypto money, and you happen to be scammed by some "code is law" exploit or scam that drains the contents, that in-game item is also gone now
3) Who wants to play a game where loot triggers ransaction fees?
If a game has NFT or Crypto related garbage, stay out of it. Simple as that :D
Why does everything look like: hey let's take every buzz word thing and put it together in a sleaze bag, haphazard, way? And we will monetize everything in it.
You’re the man. Hope all is well brother.

What up friendos?
My pp
theyre crypto-ing it, theyre cryptoing it up
I have to agree, the crypto world has such a negative reputation at this point, why would anyone want a game with it? It is exactly what you said, crypto people buying all the stuff pre-launch and waiting for the gamers, and waiting, and waiting. We don’t want this garbage! Specially if it’s some half baked mobile game. Maybe they should spend some of that money to hire gamers, and see what they would actually want to play!
Imagine a huge open world post apocalyptic game, online, it’s an MMO and very fun. So, they implement crypto into housing. Own your home, decorate, etc. don’t want to play anymore you literally put your house, your car, your business making weapons, up for sale. Then again, an MMO with these housing features needs to exist first (like the Day Before claimed) and these little web3 developers aren’t going to be the first to develop it. If they could, it would be a gold mine.
Why night crows?
Because that's all daytime
This system works. People pay for it and it makes money. If it didn't, they wouldn't do it.
And regarding NFT/Crypto games, always look to see who in the company has a stake in this currency.
It'll simply be sold the moment they've baited enough people in the system to temporarily raise the value of the currency. Every time.
Honestly if it was me designing a NFT/Crypto game i would make it to where the Crypto/NFT Currencies are only Obtainable Through Dungeon/Raid Rewards. Maybe make it a Seasonal Currency over a span of a year or something, Maybe make it possible to Convert Old Currency to new Currency but only Shortly before a Season is about to End/Start, and make the conversion Rate Dependant on Current Market Values, but obviously the Conversion rate would have to be at a loss so players can't just sit on Currency until the the last minute to Unload it and Crash the market. i feel like theres so many Ways to make it work but no one wants to go that direction.
Making a successful Pay2earn game is easy, lets write down the steps and calculate example numbers:
* The game is an ecosystem where money goes in and money goes out. Every real dollar taken out of the economy by one player must be brought in by another player.
* Let's assume 10.000 players each earning 3000 dollar each month. To take 30.000.000$ out each month, other players need to spend that 30 million each month. So lets assume players of an MMO are willing to pay the average of a monthly fee of about 15$ we need 2 million players wo play a play2earn-MMO without earning anything. In order for the game to be profitable there needs to be revenue for the company, so the 2 million people have to either pay even more or there needs to be far more people paying both the developer and the earners.
#1 Some developer has to develope a huge mega success of a game so good that millions of players are willing to spend multimillions monthly for ingame goods.
#2 Instead of selling these ingame goods directly to players and making profits, the developer must build a system that allows a minority of players to make that money instead.
Easy, isn't it?
nobody will see that im gay here
The ignorance…
You're wrong, we see, just nobody cares
I just want a gacha or "mmo" that only has one currency, I don't even care if it's a crypto token
Even if these games survive, the best they can do is pay you a few cents for grinding your life away - there are way better ways of making money and much more enjoyable normal games.
At this point using real 3D humans for promotional videos just means you're not even trying anymore
"I'm sure some people will play this"
No, they won't. They'll have it running, and might even be looking at it, but that's not the same.
the game is full auto at least to level 33 idk if theres content in end game, but if the game is like this at start no matter how good the late game i dont think i dont want it
You know the game is good when 90% of banners on main page are about rewards, money and cash.

Absolute metled brain, mouth dribbling game where they just suck every real life currency out of you any way they can. Insane that people actually enjoy this type of 'game'
this is why subscription base game should be the norm again, if ever a new gen games like TaL i bet a lot will play it especially there are no p2win, they can still sell mad cosmetics but thats it, but its a wishful thinking lol. everything is money nowadays.
