How do you reheat your pizza? What's the longest you've left pizza in the fridge and still eaten it??? PS - you can use REVUE50 to get 50% OFF your first Factor box plus 20% off your next box at bit.ly/48aQQag!
LOL 😂🤣
Air fryer for sure. Looks like you ate it cold from scrubbing through the video though!
microwave with a glass of water 👌
Microwave with a cup of water

A tip for leftover pizza. Your fridge dries out everything, so don't leave it in the original box. Once cooled, put it in a ziplock bag or in plastic wrap.
Yeah it's wild to me that some people just throw the box in the fridge.
Same, that’s what we do
@@pinkpools I've literally never seen anyone do this until this video! Is this an American thing 😅
@@pinkpools I just leave the box on the kitchen counter, doesn't need to go in the fridge at all. Still perfectly edible for a couple of days.

Coming from an Iraq veteran, I agree. Thank you for your service Sam, you are a gracious king.
Air fryer is the only way to reheat pizza. Also, I keep the napkins on the coffee table to blow my nose on 🤣
A man of culture like myself 🤌🏼
air fryer 100% but i've also tried the Sam the Cooking Guy method where you chop up leftovers and mix it into scrambled eggs. it's an interesting mix!
Bingo
No, on a pan heat set to low while moving the pan in a circular motion, until the cheese melts and the bottom crust becomes crisp.
@@JonO387 An air fryer does all that within 2 minutes and you don't even have to flip it.
Microwave with a water cup is how I reheat most things. Pizza, noodles, pasta, rice, anything that’ll change texture in the microwave. The water cup prevents it. Game changer!
For how long do you put it in the microwave?
@@Veilamia until it’s hot. Depends on the microwave and how many slices you do
I do the same thing but with a wet paper towel! Cool!
Another game changer for microwaving in general is utilizing the power level function. Usually 70% is good for reheating must things.
I use a slightly damp paper towel and do twice the time at 50% power. That's the best result I can get from a microwave. Cast iron pan on stovetop is my favorite way to reheat followed by air fryer.
Reheat pizza in toaster oven. Easy. Replicable. Helps it stay crispy.
idk why but when I read this I pictured like a regular toaster for sliced bread
@@therealsamreidI dare you to try that and report back with your findings 😁
@@therealsamreid is that not what a toaster oven is
@@matty4351I think he knows that
if you have one that’s absolutely the best option. in middle school we had a toaster oven and everyone would heat up leftover pizza in said toaster oven. I don’t have one now though
The technique I learned from my mom was to put a slice in a pan and put a little bit of water in it and keep it covered as it heats up
Upvote for pan reheating.
This is the method I learned as well. Keep the heat about medium to medium-low for 6ish minutes total. After about 4 minutes I like to take the lid off to prevent the top from getting soggy. Let’s the steam escape and gives the bottom crust time to crust.
Yup. 😂 It's the only way I do it. And it's even better if you brush just a little bit of good quality olive oil on the bottom of the pan, and Spritz the top of the pizza with water. Delicious!
This method is phenomal for pizza from a local shop without all the preservatives (makes it taste fresh, and i can eat cold pizza hut all day so, no need to reheat that) but depending on your stove and pan size I CAN ONLY EVER REHEAT 1 SLICE AT A TIME IN THE PAN 😭, way too much effort for anything after 2 slices.
I always move the pizza to a sealed package before storing. The quality goes down much quicker if you use the to go box. Also, the toaster oven is a magnificent way to reheat the leftovers. 6 minutes is the sweet spot for my unit.
Same here but I feel like for this experiment that the drying out might helped him not get sick from it. It's like he cured it or something. Putting it in a bag helps preserve moisture which might have helped bacteria grow after that long.
you should do this with Little Caesars. I swear it is the only fast food that is BETTER the day after once reheated than it was fresh.
Little Caesars was robbed!
Can’t believe you went that many days. Glad you’re ok. 🥺
Where's my cold pizza gang at
Let's goooo cold pizza!
I'm 70/30 on the subject, so... I will just wait in the lounge of the gang hideout as to respect your boundaries. 😆

Cold pizza is 🔥
You should have done the “it’s gonna be ok” line from behind the bathroom door for effect
Is this something you want to win as a brand? Feels like “who is most processed”
thought the same
I'm with you there - not necessarily a good thing 😂
I’d say it’s a plus to win in _this_ particualr instance. Bread naturally have a good shelf life. Pepperoni and cheese are literally products invented to keep things edible before artificial preservatives, and these days are already as processed as they can be no matter which chain you get them from.
The crispy bits is corn meal, that is used to sprinkle in the pan before baking to keep the dough from sticking to the pan. I used to work at 2 major pizza chains and the both did the same thing.
Ooooh ok gotcha!
The bravery of facing that many elf shoes and 1 whole black spot is commendable
A true warrior he is
An air fryer is a terrific way to reheat pizza and would be very easy to have equal treatment for each piece. For me, I would find this far more interesting if you reheat it the leftovers. Maybe you can do a follow up.
some thoughts during the video
1) Cheese is already a low-moisture food + has a lot of fat, which means that it will lose moisture more slowly. The lower the amount of "free water" in food, the harder it is to remove more of it.
2) The moisture/water in bread is not entrapped in the bread's gluten as securely as cheese. This is because it is starting with more "Free water." That's why the crust and the dough will go stale and become harder to eat faster than the cheese. I think the curling of the dough is more likely it losing moisture (and therefore size) faster than the cheese.
3) Surface area is also a big factor in moisture loss. While pepperoni is a cured meat that should in theory lose water more slowly compared to dough, it's sliced pretty thin so it will dry fairly quickly. Same thing with the surface area of cheese, which will likely impact how fast it leaves.
4) Moisture leaves from the outside first. That's likely why the edges of the cheese became translucent first.
5) I'm guessing the tomato sauce oxidized. Pretty sure tomatoes oxidize when exposed to air for a decent while.
6) Thin layer of fat in the form of butter on crust might also help slow down moisture loss, but not that significantly.
The length of time the pizza was baked for, the amount of each ingredient added by each restaurant, and the thickness of the slice will probably impact the slice too.
I actually prefer eating pizza cold 1-2 days old btw. Just a flavor preference even though I know that bacteria can grow in the fridge lol.
Sugar in the dough also impacts the rate at which is absorbs moisture from other sources as well as maintaining the water content present (its what's called a Humectant). Salt and certain syrups are also Humectants, which have the added benefit of slowing bacteria growth.
@@smalltime0 Yes. They also lower the water activity of food dramatically which is why gas station pastries can last for so long (they have a lot of oil, salt, and sugar to preserve them by dropping their water activity). I’m guessing the different pizza brands are using different concentrations of everything in the dough.
hey Sam! The best way to reheat the pizza is the AIR FRYER. Not the microwave, not pan-fried method, not the oven, but the air fryer. if you can shimmy a slice or 3 into you air fryer, you will get the most enjoyment out of your reheated slices.
Air fryer is usually my go to. Also, taking left over pizza out of the box and putting it into a sealed container like a sandwich bag makes a huge difference
I think key to keeping some of that moisture is to use a zip top gallon size plastic bag to store the slices. The refrigerator will dehydrate the pizza in the boxes pretty effectively. Keeping the slices in a sealed up plastic bag helps preserve more of the original goodness.
i love that you say its going to be okay at the end of your videos, i really needed to hear it
I don’t do the big national chains, but my smaller reliable one is pretty great. I usually end up having a day or two of lunches. I use the oven to reheat at 375-400* for about 18-20 minutes and it always works
If you have an air fryer try two pieces at 375 for like 3 minutes it's much quicker and delivers a great crust unlike the microwave. The oven is great tho! Just takes too long imo.
Damn I use a toaster oven at like 325 for 4 minutes sheesh that's a long time
Almost 20 mins? Bro likes it extra crispy. I do mine at 10 minutes at 350 and even then the edges can crisp up
"I don't know. I'm not a geologist." 😂 got me laughing way more than it should have.
my fool-proof pizza reheating hack; place the pizza on tray in a cold oven. set to 350. once the oven is done preheating, give it 1-3 minutes and you're done 👍
For reheating pizza: There is nothing that compares to an air fryer. I used to microwave or use a pan on the stove if I had time, but since I got an air fryer I haven't looked back. Easy, consistent, and way better than the aforementioned options
An air fryer is a glorified toaster oven so a toaster oven compares.
Reheat in a frying pan on medium/low heat, no oil with lid on and cracked a bit for about 10 minutes. The crust gets crispy again. Closest thing to fresh out the oven...
This is the pinnacle of scientific research. Thank you for your service.
Sam, your content is seriously A+ i always enjoy youre videos. They are all so original and creative. Keep up the good work!
Pro tip to help your pizza stay better for longer: fold the slices over themselves so you have crust facing up and down, like a pizza sandwich! Really helps keep pizza moist!

P.S. Day after pizza is best eaten cold, any subsequent day should be air fried or just toss it tbh
I reheat my pizza in the air fryer :D
Try this, microwave your pizza just to get it hot (30 seconds or so per slice) THEN throw it in the air fryer! It's a game changer! This way, you don't have your pizza become crunchy from the air fryer!
That's so true!, it's like the texture of reheating it in the oven but without waiting for it to pre-heat

thats the first I've heard of the 2 hour rule. this morning I ate a leftover taco bell stacker that had been sitting on the counter for about 15 hours. I feel fine and the stacker was delicious.
Do any work in food service and you will learn this rule
It's a food service requirement, which are usually overkill to account for the stupidity of the average worker. 15h is definitely more than I'd recommend, though. At that point it basically comes down to your gut and other environment factors whether you regret it.
Next video should be about which pizza reheating method is the best.
I enjoy using a magnifying glass on a hot summers day to reheat pizza. Perfect amount of crunch

Hey Sam! I totally just found your channel a couple weeks ago and binged every season of The Studio Revue. Love it & keep up the amazing work man! One question I do have though is, when did you decide to cut the 5 minutes, 3 Segment format? And is there any Segments that you cut, that you miss doing? Thanks for putting out amazing effort in your videos & looking forward to the future of this channel!
Thanks so much for watching! That means a ton. Somewhere towards the end of season 3 I shifted to single-segment videos and they started getting longer - a lot of it had to do with figuring out the TH-cam algorithm. I definitely miss some of the segments that wouldn’t work as an entire video - maybe I will bring those back as Shorts haha. The music-oriented stuff was fun - I’m not very gifted musically but it was a fun creative challenge. Would love to get back to a multi-segment format at some point if there’s an audience for it! Really appreciate you taking the time to ask
@@therealsamreid yesssss bring back SCYFS!😂
the air fryer is the best way to reheat pizza!!! But, if you dont have one, I have also used a hot pan on the stove. Put the pizza slice on it, then a small amount of water-may a tablespoon max- on the pan but keep the water away from hitting the crust (so put the pizza and water on opposite sides of the pan). Then put a lid on top. The result is a perfect crispy crust and melted cheese!
Risked consuming unhealthy bacteria for our enjoyment. An unsung hero
Guys, I'm not sure but I think this guy might be a geologist
The absolute best way to reheat pizza is microwaving it for 30 seconds (per slice) then throwing it in the air fryer for just a couple minutes. This way, your pizza isn't too soggy from the microwave or too crisp/crunchy from the air fryer!
This is the way.
Have worked in a Mom and Pop pizza shop for 8.5 years. IMO the BEST way to reheat pizza is to preheat a pan to medium / medium-high heat. Places your slices into the pan and heat for about 1.5 - 2 minutes. Afterwards, flick a generous amount of water into the pan (You don't want too much water, but enough to create a healthy amount of steam) and cover with lid for about 1 minute. The initial warming gets the bottom crust hot and helps the undercarriage remain crispy, the steam from the water aids in remelting the cheese. If this is too much, sometimes i just air fry!
throw pizza in the microwave (bonus points if its on the plate that bagel bites come on) for about a minute, then throw it in the toaster oven until it's crispy, gets the bottom nice and crunchy and the cheese gooey with minimal effort
Another strange banger from Sam Reid. I have finals for my data structures class at UVA this week and I’m currently watching this instead of studying
Go Hoos 🔥
I love stuff like this, and I know you did it for the shot, but would have been better if you took one slice from each pizza from the fridge instead of the whole pizza, cause that's more time it's exposed to the air
My reheat method is simple.
- Give it a light spritz of water to add moisture back to it
- Put on a plate, and cover with paper towel so the moisture stays in during the microwave process
- Microwave for 2 minutes for one slice, 2 minutes and 30 seconds for 2 slices.
I found this video in my suggested and I definitely agree with your New Haven pizza recommendation for Connecticut style but the best I’ve was Lombardi’s in nyc imo
Isnt it just which ever has the most preservatives?
preservatives is such a broad term though. Salt is preservative.
Preservatives don't really mean a bad thing, and many seasonings we use every day in our doughs, toppings, and sauces contain natural preservatives like oils (pepperoni, etc), salt, acid (that can eat certain bacterias), as well as good bacterias that can hold off rotting in things like cold toppings we put on after the pizza is cooked like shredded cheeses and basil, etc. So it's really hard to determine which actually has the most preservatives in a way that makes sense. Some companies just use more salt, that alone could create a large margin.
Well there's straight up preservatives but then there's standard stuff like salt. Which will preserve but also dehydrate I guess. Where as grease will help reduce dehydration.
@@Dparrey Well the thing is much of what is called preservatives is literally just a salt typically potassium benzoate
@@matthewzaloudek Pizza Hut has the highest salt content in it's sauce and pepperoni of the three tested, That is probably why it lasted the longest with the least degradation. The high salt content is why I can eat Pizza Hut anymore, which is sad because I loved Pizza Hut when I was younger.
My man, you've gotta ziploc those leftover slices. Just leaving them in the box in the fridge is a recipe for disaster.
Also, 60 seconds on 50% power in the microwave and then 3 minutes on Toast in the toaster oven. Well, that's how I reheat my wife's. I'm part of the #ColdPizzaGang.
Man, I really wish everyone notices your content. Everything about it is top quality and deserve way more subs
Air fryer is perfect for reheating pizza
My preferred method of reheating pizza is to microwave the pizza till the top reaches a temp around 100-110 F. Then put it in a pan on medium/low - Medium heat area and it helps keep the pizza from being spongy and wet. Don't walk away from the pizza though, I've burnt the leftovers so many times lol.
I prefer my leftover pizza cold, BUT when I reheat I use a pizza steel. I like to make my own pizza when I can and having a pizza steel is so much better than a stone but for reheating pizza it works well too.
Preheat the oven to 500, let the leftover pizza warm at room temp while the pizza steel heats, drop the slices on once the oven and steel a ripping hot and then check every two minutes or so until it's (re)done to your likeness. The bottom should be fried and extra crispy and the toppings warm and melting.
Replied to some messages with this, but the stove top is the best method for reheating restaurant leftovers. Place the pizza directly on a pan at medium-high heat without any cooking oil (your pizza should have enough oil in it) to crisp the crust for 2-4 min, then place 2-3 drops of water directly on the pan's surface without touching the pizza. Turn down the heat to medium and cover to steam the toppings for a few more minutes. Takes like 5-7 min max, but does lightly dirty a pan and lid.
Sam, I hope you're having a great day. I'm loving your content dude
I've always left pizza out despite needing to refrigerate it. I remember that story about the father and daughter that got poisoned from it.
For reheating, I usually throw like two slices in the oven at 380-385 F. But I throw it in without preheating, when the oven reaches temp, I’ll pull it.
I reheat on a skillet, and once it's pretty hot I drop a tablespoon of water on the side of the skillet and cover it to steam the and melt the cheese and cook the toppings. honestly this has saved even week old slices for me. Also I'm in my 30's and have never gotten sick from eating week old pizza.
Okay, so before I get into this, I have a question about a variable.
Does the placement or location in the fridge have an impact on longevity of the pizza?
The reason for this question is based on how fridges work using thermodynamics.
I reheat the pizza in a frying pan with a lid, that was the bottom stays crunchy as it should be.
I reheat my pizza by putting it in a frying pan with a little oil then using some water in the pan to steam the top (covering the pizza)
I ordered Domino's, ate half. Stuck it in the freezer, deployed for 10 months, came back, rediscovered it, slapped it in the microwave, and it was fine. Or, could've been my stomach had grown scales from MREs, tray rats and sketchy chow hall food. Chef's kiss. Pretty sure the pizza just dehydrated in the fridge.
Best pizza reheat method imo: a few drops of oil in a hot skillet, crisp the bottom of the pizza slices, add a few drops of water, cover with a lid to steam/re-melt the cheese. You're left with a slice that's super crispy on the bottom and melty on top, and even better than it was when fresh!
I always reheat pizza in the oven for 10 minutes. Brings it right back to life.
As someone who loves both cold and reheated pizza, Papa Johns def lasts the longest even though Domino's is my go to for 3, especially when I want something to last me a few days. For me in general, cold pizza is great for 3-4 days (depending on the pizza) and then after that you gotta reheat like in the air fryer.
I reheat my leftover pizza with a toaster oven.
Really interesting how Pizza Hut remained fairly unchanged two weeks later!
Here's my time tested, certified, best way to reheat leftover pizza. First of all, the preparation is paramount! Instead of storing the pizza in its box, put it into an airtight container! This way, it loses significantly less moisture. When the time comes that you're ready to have a leftover slice, break out the air fryer, and pre-heat it to 450 for 3 minutes. Pop in up to 2 slices at a time, cooking them at 325, for one minute at a time (i.e. check on them every 60 seconds), until the cheese just barely becomes gooey. At that point, crank the air fryer up to 450, and let them cook for 1 final minute. Let them rest until cool enough to eat, and enjoy your perfectly reheated, gooey cheese with perfectly crispy crust, leftover pizza slices.
After the initial feeding, I either put leftover pizza slices into a gallon-sized plastic storage bag, or wrap the entire box in a trash bag for 1-day, max.
I go with a standard microwave reheat for my Domino's leftovers. I can eat the pizza cold, but that 45 seconds in there or so makes a solid difference.
Depends on the pizza. If it's cheap pizza and I want to just have it fast I throw it in the microwave. If it's good pizza I put it in the toaster oven with a splash of water throw in the bottom
When I'm at home I'll use an air fryer. It can only fit 1-2 slices but its sooooo worth it to get a good crunchy crust without heating up the oven. Sadly in college I have to microwave all my leftovers 🥲
Thanks for the tip about keeping a secret napkin drawer
Piece by piece in the air frier, perfect every time
microwave your pizza wrapped in a lightly damped paper towel, then pan fry the bottom for the crunchhhh
Eating the whole pepper straight was funny lol
My reheat method is cast iron pan with a lid and a tablespoon of water in the pan. It steams the top and crisps up the bottom. Love how in depth you went on the most bachelor question I've ever seen.
My go to is the thin crust pizzas from Pizza Hut. Any leftovers get reheated in the toaster, 250⁰F for around 7-10 minutes depending on how you want your crust.
Preheat the oven to 350°, as soon as it starts preheating, stick your leftover pizza on a pan and in the middle and set a 15 minute timer. Once that timer is up, it should be perfect.
I use to eat week old un refrigerated Pizza Hut at a bar I worked at. We would call it elf’s feet because it would be curled back on itself. I loved it!
Keep these videos up man! Great work.
I microwave my leftover BUT and it's a hard but,,,, Put a cup of water along with the pizza so it'll steam up and it won't be as floppy and taste better
Best way to reheat pizza: one piece at a time, 22 seconds in a 1000 watt microwave and then 4 minutes in air fryer (really only need 3 min., but usually takes about 30 seconds to a min. for fryer to reach full temp/power) at 400 degrees. Bottom comes out crunchy, the top is light brown and the pizza is hot, but not scolding hot. There ya go.
Air fryer is the goat for reheating pizza. I usually throw on some fresh mozzarella on top and it's ready in like 5-10 minutes.
If you don’t have an air fryer or a toaster oven, microwave your pizza alongside a cup of water
The water evaporates with the heat and brings moisture back to the crust preventing it from drying out as much
I reheat my pizza based on a TH-cam video that I saw several years ago. I wrap the pizza in a paper towel and then put a glass measuring cup of water in the microwave to make the pizza regain its moisture and softness. then reheat two slices for one minute.
Reheating preference… Pan on medium- high heat.. a little bit of water… slice of pizza and lid… 2 mins
I throw the left over pizza on a pizza rack and put in the oven while cold. I then preheat to 450 with the pizza in the oven. When it reaches 450 it’s just as crispy as first day. (I eat thin crust)
I don’t care if leftover pizza is warm or cold as long as it tastes good
The only way is in a frying pan. It’s the dumpling method. Put a tiny bit of oil down, heat the bottom until crisp then a few tablespoons of water in the pan and cover with a lid to melt the cheese.. melt cheese, hot crispy crust.
I put leftover pizza in our air fryer. It's crispy and EVERY time it's better than the night before. 🍕
You’re the king of making interesting content that nobody asked for but we all enjoy watching.
I prefer cold pizza the next day, so much so, I'll usually buy an extra pizza to eat cold. If I do reheat, I'm going with the toaster oven, which is actually one of like 3 things I use it for.
Best method I've found is hot pan in the oven! Preheat to 350 or 400 depending on the pizza size/type, with the pan inside. Put the pizza on the hot pan once oven reaches temp, and heat for 5 minutes. Closest I've gotten to fresh since working at Domino's :)
Pizza doesn't last 3 days in my house! Microwave. Little Caesars is my fav, Cheddar jalapeno dip!!
This is perfect for the current economy. You better believe I would still be eating leftovers after 10 days if I had them
I eat dominos pretty regularly, I get the 12" medium pizza with extra sauce, helps a ton with reheat-ability. I reheat about 4 slices on a paper plate for 1:30 on power 8 (80% power) in my microwave. Sometimes I'll add a wet paper towel over the pizza to reintroduce some moisture, but that only does a little, its still a bit dry. I find I usually have to eat the pizza within the first 3 days after ordering, otherwise it loses its flavor, texture and moisture.
Pro tip for my pizza people: Wrap it up and freeze it. Take out slices as needed and heat it up your preferred way. I don’t have an air fryer, I put it in the oven at 450-475. Comes out fantastic.
Glad you survived. Thank you for your service.
