I am using the launch model and have no issues. Regardless if it is heavier or lighter, it does not bother me. PS5's are not something like you carry inside or outside the house.

    • @SnakeGamerMG3
      @SnakeGamerMG3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +32

For me, the heavier the better. It is not a portable, it has to be well fixed and resistant... More robust components favor this...
And I do the maintenance myself, so the easier to open the better...

PS5 CFI-1200 Series had smaller motherboard , smaller processor (6nm) thus makes it consume less power , at the same time makes it quieter and cooler , the VRM had an extra copper heatpipes , SSD Slot had the PCB under the SSD Removed thus makes the SSD had a contact with the metal plate which technically makes the SSD cooler since it is now sandwiched between the metal heatspreader and the metal plate

Because almost every company sells their consoles at a loss in the first 1-2 years.

It's a damn shame they didn't do a themed console or include the limited edition controllers. They are probably selling alot of bundles going forward to increase the price and sales of the game as a bonus. I understand why they didn't include the controller because it's limited edition and the bundle probably isn't. But the game is one of the greatest ever and deserved unique side plates and controller. But ya the PS5 GoW is by no means the GoW edition, it's simply a PS5 bundle.

The cooling on the launch edition was overkill to begin with. As was the general size of the console as a whole. The weight saving isnt just about saving on costnof manufacturing, but the cost of shipping as well. Shipping costs have jumped crazy high since covid. Lighter weight means a box a consoles has a lower freight cost. As far as HW goes, if I remember correctly, wasn't there talk of the PS5 eventually moving to a 6nm revision of the Zen2 soc?

The thing that has pissed me off lately is Sony raising PS5 prices after they developed a cheaper way to produce the system. So instead of making the PS5 cheaper and passing the savings to the customer or at the very least keep the price the same and still being able to make more just based on the system being cheaper to make Sony says no we need more money and screw over the customer. Don’t be surprised if the price hike comes to the United States.

I bought a new 1200 disc version this week, my first PS5, I have been looking for ages but never was able to find one in store, lucky I was able to find this one on Amazon.
Unfortunately I think I have an overheating problem, the controller will stop responding after playing for a while, it varies but maybe after one or two fifa games or a couple of GT7 races. I then have to wait for it to go to sleep or hold the power button and restart it.
Last night I removed the sides and directed my Dyson fan onto it and it has not missed a beat since.
I guess a little bit more testing is needed for me to say for sure but it would be interesting to hear if anyone else is experiencing the same issues.

From day 1, the very first teardown of the PS5 that I saw figured it was a mess of a cooling system. The Series X (and the S for that matter) may look "simpler" but they are designed to do what they do while cooling as efficiently as possible.

    • @skyblue2139

Yeah the PS5 cooling system is not great. It doesn't circulate air flow correctly for several reasons. Having owned both I can tell you, the Series X runs quieter (not by much but it is noticeable) and draws less power overall especially when just streaming video on it.

@@sean70729 yeah the lack of games really does blow considering that I played pretty much everything on PS4 that I could get my hands on. I'm sick of seeing remakes. Where did all the imagination go for a new game? Another thing is I live out in a rural area where I have to use my phone hotspot to do anything and I'm sick of games all needing internet. You don't know how many times I went and bought a game and had to take it back cuz I didn't notice it said internet required. Also the games come out broken and I have to do a hundred GB update kind of makes it hard to even play hard copy games

why? people are exaggerating the differences. they all perform exactly the same. this channel says there's a 20 watt power difference but other channels show more like a five or six watt power difference.

Another thing is I found out the pros coming out now also. I'm pretty sure if I had got the news before buying my PS5 that I have now I would have waited. It would have lined up perfectly and I could have still played God of War and some other games on my PlayStation 4 Pro that I had

My launch model got the Liquid Metal leak. It was unopened (the console not the box) it’s super rare but DOES happen despite people thinking it’s “debunked”. I got the 1215A model as a replacement for free and it’s great. Less power usage, quieter, and seems to stay cooler.

Wait. What?! Mark Cerny is leaving PlayStation?!
Anyway, I think now we have a good chance of seeing a PS5 Slim. But if they did that they would have to remake those face plates.
I still don’t have a PS5. How do I know if buying online I’ll get the newer 1200 model? 🤔

He's not actually a Sony employee, they just use him as a consultant and allowed him to architect the PS5.

No. There were tests done by people with a lot more skill in this area that showed the 1100 runs cooler on the apu over the 1000. They were called out a lot and joked about a lot but still go on with about these lies. The 1100 chips run much about 4 - 6c cooler over the 1000. Not hotter
