All gaming consoles will produce heat when playing on a game that includes advanced graphics. That is normal. Even the original PS5 still got hot when playing those games. It’s all good. I trust Japanese engineering even more than US engineering.
@@madmax2069 Yeah but removing the copper plates that conducted heat into the panels of the PS5 means it now has less passive cooling so it's more heat the fan has to deal with in a confined way. There's no way 1 or 2 heat pipes can make up for a copper slug that goes along a decent 30% of the frame of the system. There's a reason the new one is cheaper to make.
my dad's mentality when buying a playstation is "wait for a few years, because there's always faults in the 1st model". i think im gonna have to convince him to buy the 1st model
Or, it simply means that the fan/ vent is saturated by all the hot air inside the console, without being able to move it out efficiently (it reached its peak performance). Each fan is rated by its capacity to move air, and once you reach that capacity than it is time to add another one, or to improve cooling system in different way. Removing significant chunk of a heatsink from an enclosed environment, such as ps5 is, without adding/ improving air circulation is a poor design/ cash grabber decision. Simple as that.
You've clearly never built a PC. Fans blowing hot air, is a telltale sign, it's running hotter than it should be. Good cooling will keep it at around room temp.

Lol turns out the heatsink is making the only thing it cools run hotter. The cpu/gpu runs 4-5c hotter. The metal plate has Punch outs that stick out further to cool the vrm and memory better. It does directly explain the higher exit temps because the heatsink is hotter because the part its cooling is hotter. Maybe you should admit you were wrong.
the new one is not running hotter, its just expelling the heat out the console more efficiently, if you checked the temp at the cpu they would most likely be the same, or the new one slightly cooler.

the temperatures do not concern me as they did not test the chip thermals, and removing more of the heatsink doesn't always means its worse if the design is better. the item that bugs me is that wifi/bluetooth card. it looks like they only connected it to one antenna, where the first design seems to have 2, which is a big problem for my PS4. I can not use wifi on that console because the controllers drop connection and the entire system requires a restart to reconnect. it may have always been an issue, but i never encountered it until last year when i did not have an ethernet connection setup for a few weeks. i replaced the antenna twice, but it doesn't fix the problem. that was also a launch system, and it still works otherwise. i have opened it a few times to clean it, and removed the haptic sensor for the disc drive. the fan is very loud, but pretty typical for the original PS4.
it would be interesting to look at thermals while putting the new improved fan, on the older model with better heatsink, that may be a good upgrade and best of both world

Why: The New PS5 sold 10 million consoles, which are less than The New Xbox Series X sold 12 million consoles which are cheaper than PS5 consoles. Because many vendors have bought so many PS5 or Xbox Series X consoles which just released on the market and they want to sell them online on big stores for very high prices to make some profits; however, many consumers don't want to buy consoles of very higher prices than the prices which Sony company and Microsoft company have sold, many consumers bought the Xbox Series S and PS5 Digital because they are cheaper than Xbox Series X & PS5. I got Xbox Series S for $289 in the US. February 24th 2022, many vendors (not by Sony or Microsoft) sell their PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles online on big stores to make profits.

Comparing a Ferrari to a gaming console, that’s absolutely hilarious, but to be fair, in high horsepower trucks and cars they typically have an egt gauge which stands for exhaust gas temp gauge and it obviously keeps track of the exhaust temps, exhaust temp is very important and just one of the ways tell how your engine is performing
what i think is that Sony did further testing on the CPU, GPU, and SSD heat wise and decided that shaving what they did off the console was a better off idea. maybe the 52^C temp is low but 55^C could be within the console’s safe temp range. like in a car, say 10 degrees is the threshold to where it becomes concerning, the same could possibly be said about the ps5. now, with this decision being as new as it is, the real test is wether or not this decision needs to be reversed because the systems shut down from excessive heat in the future. there are many possible reasons as to why Sony chose to cut off weight and material from the heat sync, but sounding off on this so quick, saying that oh well 55^C is wayyyyyyyyy too high. doing that doesn’t prove that it was good or bad. all of this is conjecture, and with it being 1 and a half years since the launch, we can’t say for certain which choice ends up being the standard in the system
55 Celsius out of the vents is 80-90 Celsius actual chip temp. That’s terrible for long term health but not gonna kill it really. All that mean is you’re gonna be replacing thermal paste every 6 or 7 years to keep the chip from thermal throttling

@caleb weaver well this is the silver lining for me and my mum. we live in backwater hell and though we are renting to own ours we have the bigger heat sink >_< since we game alot those extra degrees will make a huge difference in longevity.
The fact it’s putting out more heat at the back means it’s taking more heat away from the important stuff, so in fact is a better thing. But you would need to do a deep down heat sensor test.

I just watched this video a few days ago and have since watched a few others in response to this one. By now there have been actual tests done to the revision model and have shown that the temperatures are not too far off from each other and certainly not something to worry about. There are other aspects of why Sony would've made it lighter and that's to save shipping weight. Those 300 grams savings per console would mean they could ship more units for cheaper and when they are making and shipping millions of consoles that's a lot of money saved. This could be a big part of why Sony claims that they are finally making a profit from the PS5s and yet no mention of this. Also, just because it dissipates more heat doesn't necessarily mean that it's running hotter therefore it's a worse console. It could mean that Sony made it run more efficient and made it expell more heat by having better airflow. Again, no actual test showing this and just claiming it's worse. Now millions of people are misinformed from this to the point that even scalpers are selling the older revision PS5 for more because it's the "better" console 🙄. BTW, I have the debut version of the PS5 so I'm not offended by the video and therefore posting this. It would be interesting to test the fan speeds on these 2. The hotter one being quieter because the fan isn't ramped up as much doesn't really make it a 100% fair comparison. Even with that being said I would be amazed if any fan could make up for such a large loss of heatsink.

@@madmax2069 Yeah but removing the copper plates that conducted heat into the panels of the PS5 means it now has less passive cooling so it's more heat the fan has to deal with in a confined way. Actually it's better when the exhaust shows higher degrees, because that means that more hot air is being thrusted out.
I believe if they would check the temps of the board , it will be the close or similar to eachother

I wonder if the new fan would make a significant improvement on the older PS5.
Edit: Hooray scalpers that still have old stock will start marketing the consoles as better ones. What a world we live in.
Yess, but the scalpdudes with newer ps5 could sell cheaper 🤔

The original PS5 has no cooling issues the fan barely ever spins high enough to hear. Likely the original was way overkill

not entirely sure why I'm watching this, never seen or felt a ps5 or it's controller yet. long time fan of Austin tho!

Austin Evan: the heat coming out of your Ferrari’s exhaust is hotter than your other Ferrari,
I concluded its worse
Me: Don’t you wanna check the heat from the engine? 🧐🧐🧐
lol.. SONY stealing our Large chunk of Copper HeatSink again... ( No wounded Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 M.2 SSD copper is still the World best in Cooling)..........:///
lmao!
@@Michael_Ward Your english teacher hates you
what i think is that Sony did further testing on the CPU, GPU, and SSD heat wise and decided that shaving what they did off the console was a better off idea. maybe the 52^C temp is low but 55^C could be within the console’s safe temp range. like in a car, say 10 degrees is the threshold to where it becomes concerning, the same could possibly be said about the ps5. now, with this decision being as new as it is, the real test is wether or not this decision needs to be reversed because the systems shut down from excessive heat in the future. there are many possible reasons as to why Sony chose to cut off weight and material from the heat sync, but sounding off on this so quick, saying that oh well 55^C is wayyyyyyyyy too high. doing that doesn’t prove that it was good or bad. all of this is conjecture, and with it being 1 and a half years since the launch, we can’t say for certain which choice ends up being the standard in the system

So... When someone may buy the PS5, they have to ask to weigh them out in the store? Like... Fruit?
Can I ask for 3828 grams of PS5?

Don’t forget include accessories weight vs box weight.
The fact it’s putting out more heat at the back means it’s taking more heat away from the important stuff, so in fact is a better thing. But you would need to do a deep down heat sensor test.
The people mad about this DEFINITELY bought their PS5 from scalpers lmao.

@@RudeGuyGames well, I'm not one of those people. I only saw his video because someone posted it on reddit
I like that they call the old ps5 old school like its from the 1990's
You just just called the PS5 old
I just watched this video a few days ago and have since watched a few others in response to this one. I'm just trying to point out the flaws in what he claims in this video without any actual testing and want to stop people from thinking that the newer PS5 are inferior.
I understand your passion. However there is no core temp. analysis. Nor benchmarking. And how can you do measurements in a non-insonorised room, and with a 50 dollars thermal camera for the iphone?
Apreciate your efforts though
He can't. He's lying on Xbox behalf. Pretty scummy
It's an inferior cooling solution so it's technically worse but I think they will both run perfectly fine
I'm a PlayStation fan but yall people crying of a video game console makes the gaming community look like a bunch of whining crybabies lmao
tbh bro , i think its more about how "media" just spouts misinformation as truth now of days, i see it with ALL media, you tubers are no exception..
the whole reason people came to youtube for advice about things is because they thought "people like them" would shoot straight.

It would be interesting to test the fan speeds on these 2. The hotter one being quieter because the fan isn't ramped up as much doesn't really make it a 100% fair comparison. Even with that being said I would be amazed if any fan could make up for such a large loss of heatsink.
That's possible, it could be that it runs slightly warmer at idle but the fan can kick in when needed to prevent it getting too hot.

I think I'll be waiting so long for a PS5 that I might as well wait for the eventual PS5 pro. There's no way I'm getting my hands on one this console generation, which means I'll be sitting back with my giant backlog of PS4 games until then.
Yeah. I'm easily gonna wait for the PS5 Slim. Hopefully it won't take as long as the PS4 version's Slim to come out.
