The answer to the "Unplugged" means no amps all acoustic. Anyway, this is probably the best breakup song ever written. He is so invested in this performance you have to feel the pain. It was almost never recorded but the band members asked him to please do it. Turned out to be one of their biggest hits. It's my understanding that Eddie wrote this after a bad break up with either a girlfriend that he was serious in love with or his first wife. I don't know which one. But to get up on stage and let your feelings out the way he does is hard to believe.
YEP! I got a bootleg copy of it a long time ago with a bunch of extras on it. Eddie would take Polaroid pics of the crowd cause he was freakin out about how many people were there. Still my favorite band. Always will be.
What a performance. One of the best from any unplugged series. With that being said: Porch live from Pinkpop in '92 is one of the best PJ live performance ever. Talk about giving all you got :)
Eddie Vedder is such a unique singer. I am a singer too,and I never heard a singer that sings with so much passion. You can really feel the pain that he felt in the ending of his relationship with his woman. Also, I recommend that you both listen to him singing Jeremy. It is a chilling, unbelievable performance.
This was 1992 when there was no autotune or software to amp voices up. Eddies voice is perfection. Musicians today should watch/listen to this & see what REAL talent sounds like. This is in my top 3 of all time. The words are poetic
You guys gotta do next "Porch" live from Pink Pop ('91 I think)....awesome, INSANE, live version to close out their show...wiiild video, you'll LOVE it!!
Have you heard Temple Of The Dog - Hunger Strike? Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell on lead. Amazing vocals. Also, please check out Queensrÿche - Take Hold of the Flame (Live in Tokyo 1984/08/05) One of the best live vocal performances ever. IMO
It was the best time for MTV to do this unplugged version. At the time there were so many unplugged session but is this song is so raw. The pain that is coming out of his feet and the sound he is producing to that is outstanding. I am glad that I watched some of their concerts at that time. Wonderful and fitted right in that period of raw rockbands and festival with a 100000 people at it.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 God, I love Pearl Jam! Eddie is my favorite grunge singer. I remember when this was on MTV - I was in awe. The entire PJ episode is on YT & worth every second of your time. In the mean time.... Porch (Live at Pink Pop) Alive Yellow Ledbetter Jeremy Better Man State Of Love & Trust (unplugged)
Unfortunately, I was not able to see Pearl jam live. Living in Seattle, that is almost sacrilege. However, I did see them when they were Mother Love Bone, before Eddie joined them after MLB's lead singer Andy Wood died from a heroin overdose. Great show, especially in the small night club I saw them in. Keep them coming, guys.
“I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star In somebody else's sky But why Why Why can't it be Why can't it be mine…” Just hits differently when he sings these lines with so much pain.
Even though you don't know the story behind it just seeing Vedder singing you know there's a lot of feelings and that his heart was broken. It really is a masterpiece in every way.
This is prob one of the greatest performances I've ever watched, it's amazing. Also I watched Sinead O'Connor sing, I believe it was a concert somewhere in South America, she performed Nothing compares 2 u and it was almost as passionate as this one, not quite but you get the idea
Thx for your reaction! I was a teen in the mid 90s and was obsessed with PJ/Eddie Vedder. Now that I'm in my 40s, I still hold PJ close and love watching others experience the music I grew up listening to. I suggest you two try Yellow Ledbetter and Nothingman.. those songs are my faves!
From early 90s to mid and late 90s Seattle product band like Nirvana,Pear Jam,Alice in chains,Soundgarden,STP...they all are good looking guy... In their prime they all are so handsome..pear jam guitarist also good looking..
I remember when this came out. There wasnt a video yet, or this live performance to show him on stage. We just had the studio recording, but all the emotions were there for us to feel and just go with. We just went wit the music that was available and held on as best we could to the waves of emotion. And we related... This feeling was something that we'd felt before, and were just now having the experience of hearing it vocalized. This complex feeling was given voice, and we just heard the pain, and we sympathized and held on for the ride. When this video came out, we nit picked the lyrics because it wasnt the Fiction we'd been hearing and living. We still loved the song because of it's emotional ties, but now we have this format of people recording themselves sampling our lives... sampling our experienced pain. It's weird, but I understand it... But tell me, people out there, doesnt this feel like a watered down reaction to what is a soul crushing feeling? The feelings in this song are life-altering. Am I alone here? Let me know.
The song/video Jeremy is a must. Another showcase of Eddie’s songwriting to bring difficult current events to the forefront, Jeremy’s story shook the State of Texas. Incorporating Eddie’s own guilt as a teenager and his actions, while using music to speak out against what Children face everyday…Neglect, Abuse, Bullying.
Such a great performance! Can never be enough Pearl Jam! Muh personal favorite Pearl Jam song is Do the Evolution, of course I hope you get to that song some day XD
Thank You, Awesome reactions guys! Suggestion: Pearl Jam the song is Jeremy the official uncensored video please. It's a very powerful message. 😊💓🤘✌️🌹Thank you for finally reacting to Black MTV unplugged!
They have totally overdone this song more beautiful n meaningful than the studio ver. but Eddie totally overshadowed in this particular song with his charismatic stage presence n gave the depth in the lyrics through his emotions n not the least that backing vocals "turu ru tu turu tu" wow perfectly done by Ament n McCready n my best line(lyric) in this song used to be the bridge "someday you have a beautiful life..."but after this unplugged Eddie has added something in that first line of the second verse "i take a walk outside, I'm surrounded by some kids" wow how easily he went up without missing a beat and smooth came down to the original line i really loved that line n most of the time i hear it it still gives me a goosebumps since i first heard this ver.when i was in my teens in the year 1998 yes 98' because i live in a small state of India "Sikkim",a beautiful place to be in because in those days we don't used to have much access as we have today n all the international albums we get to listen only after their release after 5 or 6 years but still we get what we want...i miss those gud ol' days n thank god that i atleast was born in this beautiful era of music as compared to the music of after 2000s... Grunge rules
Best version of this song is Atlanta 1994. Layne staleys Bday today, Alice In Chains too many to recommend, but any unplugged is great introduction. Down in a hole.
I’m gonna be that person and just say if you have the option for a live performance, pick that one for a reaction, always. There are so many musicians that can’t perform live and you really weed out who is truly great and who hired a great sound producer to fix your mediocre shit. I’ll continue to watch but you can’t beat reactions to live performances… Edit to say: Pearl Jam has an Austin City Limits live performance as well that is also worth a watch.
Unplugged was the best idea MTV ever had.
arguably the only one
@@edwardgonzalez976 I wouldn’t argue against that particular statement.
Are you nuts? Teen Mom 2 was peak MTV!
@@edwardgonzalez976 Celebrity Death Match wants to have a word with you.

Nahhh, this was recorded 2 years before he got married the first time. Had to be a gf.
@@Lightningrod75 Thanks for the info. I knew it was one of the two.
Eddie's girlfriend in highschool. 😊💓🤘✌️
WHile that was the concept. Those wires were going somewhere. They were just using Electric Acoustic.
This or "i can't make you love me"
Beautiful song and reaction. You are ready now for Pearl Jam - Jeremy, uncensored video. It will blow you away.
30 plus years of getting goosebumps from this song ❤

Porch at Pinkpop! Top 5 live performance I’ve ever seen. Who’s with me?!
YEP! I got a bootleg copy of it a long time ago with a bunch of extras on it. Eddie would take Polaroid pics of the crowd cause he was freakin out about how many people were there. Still my favorite band. Always will be.
unplugged series was Phenominal! back when MTV still mattered!
this performance brings me to tears every single time.
Reminds me of my first love. Lost her for 21 years, got her back and happily married 13 years strong. Great reaction
Yeah great performance...the whole session is awesome...transcends generations...
EV channeling his soul...passion, love pain...intensity...

The most beautiful, deep, painful song. I can never get enough of it. All time favorite. Still hurts and brings a tear to my eye to this day.

I remember watching this back when it first aired--I was in college and totally into Grunge. Everyone I knew watched this and thought it was awesome.
Spot on. Thank God for music.
'Jeremy' official 'uncensored' version should on the docket next.
Even though you don't know the story behind it just seeing Vedder singing you know there's a lot of feelings and that his heart was broken. It really is a masterpiece in every way.
This is a awesome live performance 🔥
Near perfect performance, I saw them 3 times in early 90's, BLEW ME AWAY EVERY TIME

They have a song called "Release" that makes me cry damn near everytime I hear it. Especialy the video of them doing it in Holland 1992

Imagine seeing them or Nirvana in a small venue like this.
I love when soundmen have the knowledge to turn the drums up high in the mix where they belong. lol
Yes great passion !! Good job guys
Such a great performance! Can never be enough Pearl Jam! Muh personal favorite Pearl Jam song is Do the Evolution, of course I hope you get to that song some day XD

Within Temptation Stand My Ground Live at Java Eiland Amsterdam.
Broken Peach Tainted Love.
Eddie is the GOAT!
Yes, MTV Unplugged meant unplugging instruments, not using amplification, but of course they do that to varying degrees.
The album was recorded in a basement one take so it all was emotionally recorded
He was sitting on a stool the entire time and had a cold also
Very seldom are there ggod insights. You did well. Dig deeper
SAM... 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Only Love Can Save Me Now by Pretty Reckless watch the video the acustic version is good also but i like the regular version even better.
It’s unplugged from mtv which only means the amps and all the i instruments are acoustic meaning unplugged and no effects
Yea like that’s how you listen to new music in your car… exaggerated head bobbing hahahaha
The pain is real

At last I liked one reaction from you guys. First time i see you realy like doing it!
Eddie was sick when this was recorded and taking flu medicine.
He is singing about his ex-wife, when she left.
Ellen 11 year old plays Muse-Hysteria.
Eddie, one more time, with a little feeling huh?
Alright I’m gonna say it, how is Scott stapp reacting to Pearl Jam? Lolol
But seriously good vid guys
