      @@TheAppleBias You are always the gentleman. Thanks!
      One very important thing that many people do not understand and you made very clear on your review is the fact that it is a smart battery and communicates with the OS in order to avoid heat issues. All other battery packs or chargers lack that ability!

      Yeah after losing 16% of my iPhone 12 battery health in 10 months. It really opened my eyes to possible causes and I believe the biggest cause was the 3rd party battery pack.

  • @kevinmitchell2138
    @kevinmitchell2138 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    One important point I have found is indeed HOW to use the MagSafe Battery Pack.
    This isn’t the sort of battery pack you pop on your phone when low on battery. It just doesn’t work that great for that, imo. Approaching this product like that can be frustrating.
    This battery pack is an extension of the phone. As you say, when you know you have a busy day or entering a busy phase, you put the pack on and forget about it. It then works seamlessly together and keeps the battery healthy.
    Important difference and one I don’t think people realise is a big factor.
    Pop it on, have your day, be comfortable you battery is managed and sound. 🙌

    • @TheAppleBias
      @TheAppleBias  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly! Yeah I approached it the other way the first time around. I do think the increased charging speeds will help with the other way. But I just haven’t needed it that way in a while to really test it out.

    Yes, the heat is the main factor here. It will destroy a phone battery if it gets too hot. So the battery pack is super smart and won’t charge it if it’s really not necessary in that moment, where it’s hot. People complain about how the battery would drop down, but without realizing why

    It would've been nice if Apple had been a little clearer with how to use this. There was no basic info in box when I bought it and only because of Google and TH-cam did I know that it was meant to be slapped on after the phone was fully charged. And that it only sips all the time and alternates between the phone and battery.
    A single or two page visual explanation of this in the box would maybe ha e helped all those who don't know how to use this

    • @TheAppleBias

    I understand that the best way to use the Apple Battery pack is just to attach when both phone and pack are at a 100%. But let’s say I’m out and about and I realized that that I won’t be near a charger for a few hours and my 12 Pro Max is about 50%. Yeah it will work that way too it’s just more efficient the other way. Only issue you could run into that way is if it’s summer and super hot outside and the phone and battery heat up then the battery will pause charging to not reduce the battery health of the phone.

      All batteries have a lifecycle count before they die. But that’s a 0-100% cycle so charging it from 50-100 is only half of a full count. The biggest selling point on apples is that is stop or slows down charging when the phone gets hot. Cause charging a hot battery can reduce its life faster.

      The Apple MagSafe isn’t in the same category as the likes of the Anker.
      The Apple MagSafe is designed to be out on your iPhone when both MagSafe and iPhone is 100%. You keep it on your iPhone until the MagSafe dies then you should have 80-90% battery.
      The likes of the Anker are used to charge your iPhone vs being a battery extender like the MagSafe.
