Sometimes i like to restore, sometimes preserve. I wanted this one to show some age, it's prefect to hold my Blackhawk tools. Thanks for watching and all the comments Michael.
Another Fantastic tool box restoration David! Looking forward to seeing the shop refresh! I'm glad I'm not the only one that has that issue with the regal red.
Looks great. I've restored a few old boxes myself and definitely prefer keeping a degree of patina on these beautiful old things. One thing I've been doing recently is to touch up any bare steel nicks and scratches with a little cold bluing solution. It evens out the look and adds a little rust protection.
Looks nice David. Now you need a Blackhawk torpedo style box to go with it. I know where one of those is. 🤭 By the way the audio is much improved in this video.
Nice clean up David. I have decided that in some cases it is in the best interest of the tool or in your case the box to leave the used look to show its character. And The fresh look of restoration is also a welcome sight. Good video I enjoyed it.
I like Krud Kutter, its a really good cleaner. I usually buy in the large concentrate but couldn't find it recently. I mix it weaker than what comes in the spray as it can be a little harsh. I've had it take paint off where I didn't want it too!
I’ve got the exact same box but it’s branded as a New Britain. My father bought it new in the late sixties, I had the side handles recromed and just need time to finish it up
I really like how that turned out. Nice shiny old box. Great addition to your collection. Great video, as always David.
Thanks Ryan, glad you enjoyed it and appreciate your support.
That’s a great box! I’m a huge BlackHawk fan as I know you are too. Their tools are becoming more collectible every day. 😃👍
Thanks John. Hard to find in my area, so I get real excited when I run across them. Thanks for watching.
That came out nice. I especially liked the handles.
Looking forward to seeing the new shop set up!
Thank you, yeah I was pretty happy with the way the handles came out as well. Wasn't sure what I was going to do with that peeling chrome!
@@westhighlandsshop Exactly...when the video was on that part showing the bad condition I was curious as to how you would solve that one.
Tool box cleaned up well!! Thank you for sharing the process!!
You're welcome and thanks for stopping by the channel!

You are welcome Jack and I always appreciate you stopping by the channel!
You did a wonderful job bring that old box back. Thanks for the details of the procedures you used. 👍
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the view and comment!
I absolutely enjoy your toolbox restoration videos!
Me too. I'm with Grafs on this.
Thank you very much. Don't have any in the queue, but come back for some other stuff! Thanks for watching.
I really like the way the tool chest cleaned up, it still looks like it’s from 1967 but it looks very nice. Great job!
Thank you Jeffrey! I agree, kept it's age, just dressed it up a little. It's perfect for the vintage of tools that are going in it!
David I think you are the king of toolbox restorations! That one turned out great - anxious to see the shop refresh.
That's funny Bill! Appreciate your views and comments, always! Shop refresh will be out soon, it was a fun project.
I think it looks good with the worn areas. Sanded and waxed is perfect.

Excellent work, that tool chest looks just right and will serve you well. I vote for a video of the "upstairs" - hah!
Thank you very much. Shop refresh will be out soon. Have a little more to do before the shop tour, but I will do it!
Another great restoration David. Glad you kept the original paint. Looking forward to the shop refresh.
Thank you Stephen, shop refresh is about done and video will be out soon! Thanks for watching
The tool chest looks great! I think you made the right call not to strip and repaint.
Thanks Magdad, I agree, this one just needed saving.
I really like your toolbox clean-up videos!
Thanks a bunch! They are fun to do and I need them for storage.
Excellent clean up. Added some years to that box. Looking forward to the refresh of your shop.
Thanks Choppermike! Video will be out soon, I was really happy with the way it turned out.
Another Fantastic tool box restoration David! Looking forward to seeing the shop refresh! I'm glad I'm not the only one that has that issue with the regal red.
Thank ya brother. Shop refresh video is up next!
Cool box! Nicely done as well! Look cool with some hotrod pinstripin'
Thanks brother! One of these days I'll find the right box to "hotrod or ratrod" it up. Thanks for watching.
Very nice! You did a great job on that tool box.
Thank you very much!
Well done!👏
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video!
That looks real good.👍
Thank you Rob!
It looks great, great job.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video
I’m glad you didn’t give it a full repaint . She looks just fine a good honest looking tool box . Thanks David
Thanks! This one deserved to stay as is. Thankfully it wasn’t in bad shape so I could leave it as is. Thanks for watching and always commenting!
Id like to see your collection. That's a good solid clean up, no need to go the whole hog sometimes.
I agree, some need a full blown resto, some don't. This one just needed to stay original. Thanks for watching!
This looks almost identical to my very old school craftsman box.
The more of these I do, the more I see the similarities in the different brands, it is a very built box. Thanks for watching.

Hi Scott, appreciate the view and comment! That is an awesome idea, and one that I will definitely use in the future, thanks for sharing that.
Nice work dude.
Thanks man, always appreciate you stopping by!

Thank you Dave, appreciate you always being here. Glad the audio is better! Anytime you are ready to part with the Torpedo, you know how to find me! 🤣

Thank you Dale, I'm happy you enjoyed the video. Agree with your thoughts!
That box turned out great still has patina and will do the job and look good doing it.
Thank you! Sometimes its best to leave them as they are and just shine 'em up a little. Appreciate the comment!
@@westhighlandsshop Yep sometimes i have a question was gonna try that Krud cutter seems to work pretty well ?

$14???????
That's a great deal, and I like how it turned out.
Have a Jesus filled day everyone

Thanks Greg. Yes, I was shocked when I won the bid at $14! Appreciate the view and comment.
Nah, not all things need a complete restore. Some look wonderful in their 'work clothes'.
More honest looking in their work clothes

Nice! Pretty sure Blackhawk was owned by New Britain during those years. Thanks for watching and sharing!
Wax On!
Wax Off!
LOL. Thank ya Mr. Danville.
I think you did right by not restoring. It looks great as is!
Thank you Kevin. I like the way it came out as well!
