Eric you are probably the only real motivational figure I have at this point. I used to be so motivated by so many people, but as I grew up I realized they are on gear. So as a natural you are insane, and motivate me everyday man. forreal
this is a little off topic but i am very much into drawing and art, I'd say I'm fairly good at it. I may be the best artist in my school/class, but when i hop online it is a seriously different ball game. it becomes very easy to bash myself or consider myself a bad artist in comparison. I feel like the same can be said for the desire to hop on gear. When the majority of your feed is people in the peak condition and size in their lifetime, you can look in the mirror and feel like you look like garbage because you have these freaky expectations. What you have to remind yourself is that your standards are distorted and unrealistic. Especially people who "lift for girls". they think if only they can gain an inch or two more on their chest measurement, or whatever it is, then they will be attractive. The only time this would even be noticed is if you are in a bodybuilding show or something. It's so unimportant. If you work out at all, doesn't matter which sport, you will look above average. Like Eric said, i think it's important to be content and see things how they are, and the long term
Here because of Jonnie Candito's recommendation from Twitter: "Been watching some Eric Bugenhagen videos lately, this dude is cooler than I thought. Actually like his talking vids the most."
There is infinite depth to this Burgerheaven dude. Somebody however could break to him the 1000 reasons why in his 70s he will not look the same or be as strong. Speaking of "looks", is he the male version of KimK?
Natty bodybuilding is cheaper anyways. That's an annual 1500 - 4000$ less you have to spend on the upkeep of your physique. Plus it's healthier, your gains are more "permanent" in a sense, you can still build a very impressive body without drugs, women find the natural look more attractive anyways. The list goes on and on.
If you get asked if you work out, you are doing it wrong. Eat a lot. Lift a lot. Experiment a lot. Unless you are an elite lifter, gainz aren't rocket science.
@Southern Fun I honestly don't give a shit, I want to inspire others that getting strong and getting a good physique is possible naturally. How awful would it be if people asked me how I got so lean or strong, and I answer by saying I injected synthetic hormones into my bloodstream?
@Southern Fun no shot, the damage to your endocrine system, heart, and other systems in the body is way too high of a risk.. I'd rather live longer and still be strong
I'm not going to say he has or does use gear, but if he does, it's because he's already reached his natty potential. Most of the guys at the gym who jump on gear have been hitting weights for a year or two and think they're ready for tren and abombs.
Spectacular post Eric! I'm sure you just saved a few people (even one would be worth it) a load of heartache. Been a casual follower for awhile, but this post earned my Sub.
Fall in love with training, LOVE the training, and you will never ever ever even think about roids or feel any need of them. I loved heavy ass overhead pressing and I got to a 230lbs barbell press IN THE FIRST YEAR of training, at 6ft and 190lbs. How? Well I found an unmatched pleasure in the act of pressing heavy and I did that 6 days a week, multiple times a day, no programs, no nothing, just go and press heavy (I had a 250lbs barbell set and a rack in my home). Every week I made massive strength gains. I just did pull up variations, weighted pistol squats and barbell pressing at home. Just needed a big v taper and huge delts and upper pecs. I think it's my addiction to the lifting, to the grind, that made me so strong so fast. I loved it so much that this is all I did all day(except boxing for cardio). I live somewhere else right now, and no longer have access to barbell or gym, so nowadays I do heavy sandbag presses. The sandbag presses made me even stronger, now I have a max of 250lbs at 200lbs bodyweight. Just love your training, if you love your training you will do more of it, the more of it you do the bigger and stronger you get. Training is the best form of meditation for me. I don't do it because it gets me jacked and strong, I do it because I am drawn to it. I love the rush.
Kinda understandable he hopped on the juice. He's over 35, his job (wrestling persona) requires him to be big, and he's recovering from surgery. The only thing I'm really disappointed in is that he hasn't addressed it head on.
I started watching bugez when I first started lifting in high school and he was a huge influence on me. Even though he’s on gear now, I could not be happier than to see him succeed and be in the ring. My man even has his own action figure now. “Infest the rats nest” -Papa Hildago
I trained natty for basically 6 years since I hit 18. Now im 26 and I got a pretty serious hip injury which im expecting to have surgery soon and its been 2 years since ive lifted and obviously im not in the same physique as I had when I was 24 but I still retain A LOT of my muscle and I think its because I went the slow and steady game, eating extremely clean and just being disciplined and patient about my bizz, training everyday with a plan in mind, sleeping right, etc... my early 20s were the best moments of my life to this moment. Its worth it being clean in the long run, I know gear is supposed to make you feel super strong but thats not stable and theres nothing stronger than being stable. When I get my hip replaced ill be back and ill show you guy's what I accomplished.
When we're off gear, or no longer use them because some medical issues.... Training will no longer a fun things, and diet will become worthless which is used to be so meaningful before... Nice content eric ! We salute you.
This was a really great video. Everything you said needed to be said. You're a great example of what you can become once you put in real time and effort into the gym.
BUT ERIC... but... ok, I will. EDIT: I'm 36. Still making bi-weekly, or at least monthly gains. I don't need to compare my lifts, physique or anything to other people. This might be a really good message for younger guys but eric you still gotta listen to me

I also did the same stuff back around y2k. Sure I got bigger and stuff but all I did was hammer strength and dumbbells. Now I've lifted Forrest for two years as a born again natty and it's 100x better than being on gear, even if I'm not as atheistic.
Some of the best advice ever! My best friend got into bodybuilding about 9 years ago went from nothing to winning the Scottish bodybuilding rooky class his 1st year got invited to the Brittish national. Was on some gear, nothing too heavy. Didn't abuse Insulin or any the real heavy stuff, but still ended up getting health problems. After going too dry at the Brittish and going into catabolism he started really contemplating getting the hardest stuff you could get. Luckily an injury by overtraining and not being safe in lifting sidelined my friend and he decided to go down other routes in life... Eric great chan bro and great advice!
You are so right holy crap Eric. I think exactly the same way. Thats one of the reasons I dont wanna do bulgarian training Im afraid that if I do it and then have to train less than every day by strength will decay. I rather train twice a week and keep building it up over my life.
Awesome message Eric I'll stay natty forever some people even think I'm on steroids and I also out lift/work them anyway so I'll take that for the win.
what do you mean? he admitted to have used roids in the past. once u get off roids u still get the higher protein synthesis for life, not to mention the muscle memory where it's much easier to rebuild muscle you once had than to straight up build new muscle - if you were on juice before then it's gonna be relatively easy to reach "peak natty"...

My pride wouldn't let me hop on gear. I'd know that the muscle and strength I put on isn't solely my own. I want something to show the equal amount of effort I put into it myself.
" I want something to show the equal amount of effort I put into to it myself." You'll take that stupid sentence back once you reach a point where you train 5-10 hours per week, for months, even years without putting size on. You'll be putting in alot of fucking work for basicly maintaining.
5-10 hours a week? If you think that's hard work at an advanced level I don't think you have the right to come at me all condescending. I'd rather bust my ass maintaining a respectable, functional, and healthy body composition than injecting syrup in my veins so I can impress some people I don't care about or feed a destructive ego. I'll double down on my stupid sentence.
I never said or claimed that PED should be worth doing for everyone. I dont care wether or not anyone here believes me. I know what im talking about, you dont. I can just think for myself unlike most people. And taking steroids is not cheating. That highly depends on the situasjon in wich you take them.
Savior G first of all you don't inject in your veins you idiot, this ain't no heroin. Second of all yes if you train smart for ~10 years you won't see any progress after that and you're training, recovering to your max, saying no to many social life events to maximize recovery and then don't even make any significant strength gains in a year let alone size gains. After a person reaches that point, you should really ask yourself if all that is worth it because let's be honest..no one wants to train for years to stay the same. We all want to move forward. That's when drugs have their place imo
Alexis Carvalho+ I obviously know that steroids are injected into muscle tissue so don't try to come explaining things like I have no basis of how steroids work or act like I haven't thought of the other perspectives. Explaining things that I already know and have taken into consideration is not going to change my opinion or make you look smart.

I hopped on Anadrol 50 for about two weeks before I threw them away after talking to my Wife about it and doing a lot of praying. I am 35 and I have been training naturally for about 20 years and I am close to my peak. Hard to gain now. This video was very encouraging to see! On my two week cycle I blew up 10 pounds lol arms and back got thicker within days. I am so happy I stopped only two weeks into the cycle because I I couldn’t have imagined gaining another 15-20 pounds on the stuff and then stopping and not have it mess with me mentally. Lol and it did mess with me mentally a little. Lost whatever gains I had quick even on strong pct. I am staying natural because my Wife and I want kids and I don’t want health issues in the long run. Even if you do the cycles safe you can’t tell me it’s not knocking off a few years from your life. I do not want to worry about that and I don’t want my future kids to loose me when I barely turn 70 like a lot of the Golden Era guys did. So many of them died in their 60’s and 70’s. Arnold has already had two open heart surgeries! Makes you think. God bless you sir and thank you for your encouragement in your video to stay natural. These videos help! Especially when you train around those of the elite that are much larger and leaner! That can really mess with me and I have to constantly keep myself in check. Plus they are like 10 years younger than me which doesn’t help lol God bless!
Pandah Sykes Deadlift with a trap bar is not really the same as a deadlift with standard hand position though. The forearms can withstand far more weight than people realize, and at Eric’s level his grip is extremely strong by now anyway. It's crazy listening to podcasts of 45 to 50 year old bodybuilders and powerlifters telling stories about "back in the day", and 3/4 of the people they are telling stories about are dead.

Really intelligent comment 🖒

I was considering maybe doing it one day once I felt like I capped out. I needed to hear this, thank you so much!
I'm guessing that you're juicing? Either that or you really want to be.
Southern Fun nah nigga anime inspired me
@Southern Fun no shot, the damage to your endocrine system, heart, and other systems in the body is way too high of a risk..

^Words of wisdom^
Kinda understandable he hopped on the juice. He's over 35, his job (wrestling persona) requires him to be big, and he's recovering from surgery.
The only thing I'm really disappointed in is that he hasn't addressed it head on.
Agree, but he can't adress it because of his contract.
I started watching bugez when I first started lifting in high school and he was a huge influence on me. Even though he’s on gear now, I could not be happier than to see him succeed and be in the ring. My man even has his own action figure now.

@@tomjaap2933 Yes, he does. He's also obese and prediabetic. Grow up
I trained natty for basically 6 years since I hit 18.
And you can be proud you achieved all this by the test you produce by yourself. All your accomplishment.
When we're off gear, or no longer use them because some medical issues.... Training will no longer a fun things, and diet will become worthless which is used to be so meaningful before...

This might be a really good message for younger guys but eric you still gotta listen to me
same here, maybe one week out of the month if that I dont go up in some lift. Sometimes Its two lifts a workout I make PRs

@@batigolffs he went from 220-230lb to nearly 300lb without a substantial change in bodyfat in a year when he was already over a decade and a half into training. So you really think that was done with just fig bars?

On my two week cycle I blew up 10 pounds lol arms and back got thicker within days.
