this movie is a nuanced adaptation of william shakespeare The Taming of the Shrew, which is why the high school is a castle and there’s so much poetic dialog as well as the shakespeare references. this was a good one
Agreed. This is one of the better modern Shakespeare renditions.
Zuff saying he hasn’t watched many romcoms but falling for Heath and almost crying at Cat’s poem was the best! he’s so cute lol
I appreciate Bryce pointing out that it was right for him _not_ to kiss her when she was smashed and couldn't even stand up properly (possibly concussed?)
Man Heath was just a treasure to watch and so amazingly talented. I love this movie. I always come back to this and watch it every now and then as a comfort movie.
Unpopular opinion (or not?): that Heath Ledger rendition of Can't take my eyes off you is better than any other version of the song.

Fun fact when heath ledger sung “I love you baby” when she whacks peoples ass and runs down stairs….it was him just being him playing his character. I saw it in a documentary they didn’t know he just went along with it. He always in most of his films got into character. His lover in brokeback mountain is the godfather to his child because they became really close mates. He was so talented.

I'm not super into rom-coms, but this movie has always been one of my favorites. It's so well adapted, written and cast. like the fact it's based on The Taming of the Shrew (by Shakespeare), and just holds a constant meta joke about it is so f-ing great to me.

Yeah, he did the right thing. She’s drunk, kissing her while she’s impaired is never a good idea. If she really wants to kiss him, she’ll try again another time. Or he can try to kiss her when she’s sober. That’s a good show of character. I
Plus, she puked a little while earlier, so she probably doesn't smell so good. :-)

also if you want a 'make you cry' romcom - the notebook. always the notebook lol or a walk to remember - that one is pretty underrated and no one really reacts to it but many love it.

This is a classic rom-com, not just pure romance. Love watching this movie. If I remember correct she was really crying when reading that poem, and they kept that take.

The whole story of him getting paid to go out with her and then falling for her then her forgiving him and them ending up together just reminds me of she’s all that and he’s all that also the bit where she is drunk and goes to kiss him and he moves away just made me think of that song “real sweet but I wish u were sober”
Idk how this popped up on my feed but glad it did. This is one of my most favorite comfort films. Honestly, they don’t make rom-coms like these anymore. Btw I absolutely loved the guy in the hoodie’s reaction.
Taming of the Shrew was my introduction to Shakespeare. Its also the only play by him that I really enjoyed. I remember watching the play in English class and laughing at the dirty jokes. No one else got it and I got teased for being the nerd who laughed at Shakespeare.

We didn’t have to dissect frogs in high school science but we did have to dissect livers and stuff and it wasn’t that gross but the smell , the smell was unforgettable and it made the building smell for a week at a time of just rotting organs

50$ in the 90s was a lot actually lol I remember early 90s my mom used to give me 20 bucks to go to the mall. I was able to get either a few accessories or a cute top from Bang Bang and still have around 5 bucks to spend for lunch at the food court lol

I enjoyed watching you all react to a 90s classic Rom-Com. Since you said you don't watch many romantic films I would recommend reacting to these other rom-com classics: 'When Harry Met Sally…' (1989) 'Clueless' (1995) 'Bridget Jones's Diary' (2001) 'Silver Linings Playbook' (2012)
Y'all are too cute it's nice to see young men get into these RomComs. Although I was an adult when this came out, I still loved it and Heath Ledger. Julia Stiles (Kat) is also great in Save the Last Dance.

They’re in Seattle, but the high school is a real public high school 40 miles south in Tacoma - it’s got amazing views.
I did disect frogs- in 7th grade! I did a shark in high school, some people did cats at my school too.

I was excused from my biology final freshman or sophomore year cause I got 100% on some test so he let me and some other students do dissections on worms, frogs, a shark, eel, starfish, and some fish. I also got to do a pigeon

This is one of my favorite rom coms ever! And teen movie. It is such a classic! Heath Ledger was amazing. Along with the rest of the cast. The reason why the dad is over protective is that he is a baby doctor and he sees a lot of teen girls who are pregnant and doesn’t want that for his kids.
The guy on the motorcycle I'll forever call him Bernard because he was Bernard in the Santa clause movies. Plus I don't remember his name. I love this movie it's great
