Thank you for showing a golfer that represents the greatest portion of golfers instead of the usual 1% guys who swing 110 mph+. This gent is like what I see on all the golf courses I play. Not the 110 mph guys.
Is it really that uncommon? I am not at 110 mph but 106-108 mph is my norm I am a 52 year old regular chap, So I just thought most people would have way higher club head speed than me.
@@christianericsson4653 You're vastly overestimating the average golfer. roughly 94 mph is the average swing speed, and most golfers (men) falls within 90-100 mph. The tour average is like 113 mph, so yes, 110 is not going to be relevant for most people watching these videos.
Nice to see a fitter who is really interested in the customer first and not just trying to make a quick buck. You took the time to figure out what was best for him, most other fitters won’t do that. This is probably the main reason why most of us amateurs avoid trying to get fit, most of the fitters are more interested in making a sale and trying to up-charge you than what best for the customer. Absolutely 1000% correct mate and that really f**ks me off 😂 not only because it's clearly the wrong thing to do for the customer but it gives fitting a bad rep as you say and puts people off getting fitted. Most of my fits end up in a lesson tbh 😂 a lot of this was talking swing too but I took most of that out. Most people benefit more from that than they do a new club in all honesty. Agree with others it’s useful and interesting to see this kind of golfer. He has a good swing, keeps it in the fairway. I’m 82, been playing over 60 years, 17 hdcp, have about the same driver statistics carry 195 to 215, total distance 215 to 235. Going back and forth between three drivers just for variety: Callaway GBB Epic Sub Zero 10.5 with Graphite Design Tour AD-IZ 5 R-1 flex 54 grams; Tour Edge Exotics C722 10.5 with Fujikura Ventus Red non Velocore R flex 54 gram; XXIO black 2021 model 10.5 with Miyazaki AX-1 shaft flex IFC 4333 47 gram. Never buy new, look for prior models in mint condition. Callaway was $279, Tour Edge $100, and the XXIO $252.

Interesting content. You certainly found something that help a lot but I would have also put him on a tee that was 1/4" - 1/2" taller because his swing is very consistent and never had a high strike.
Yeah unfortunately that wouldn't have helped either. Tee height actually rarely helps change strike height consistently. We did have him on the very highest tee, if anything going higher would have a slightly detrimental effect to delivery

Genuinely interesting video. Good on the customer (sorry forgot his name) for being able to relatively put the same swing on it consistently. At my handicap (19) I would find it difficult to not change it based on the outcome.
Great fitting, well done! Let me ask you this the most common thing about the fitting was the PATH. Path is king and club face QUEEN, since he was constantly { out to in} why didn't he stand OPEN to the line and just hit it high on the face! HE is trying to hitting draw with face open to the line and that will not work! Thank you for posting!!
That was outstanding, I'm wondering how long that Person was there? Also he didn't seem to get tired . He was very very consistent his misses certainly didn't seem real bad. GREAT JOB I wish Elite Performance Golf was in my home town , I would definitely get fitted by this person.
Thanks Michael! He was probably with me around 2.5 hours and yes he was remarkably fit! He did start to flag a bit towards the end but still was swinging well. Appreciate the comment and if you're ever over this way give us a shout 🙌👍
Great video ..I am just a bit faster swing .. so the test was great very surprised about taking out the weight made a huge difference.. fantastic job ..I would buy that one!
Great Video!! I just watched two of your videos fitting players with similar SS (around 90mph) and very interesting to see the same conclussion, a much lighter head than standard (weight removed) worked much better. I'll take this and experiment more with swing weight on my fittings. Thank you
Excellent video, and exactly what 95 % of all golfers are looking for and are interested in. Regarding the gentleman's swing, which is just a touch slower than mine, I now feel extremely lucky that my natural tendency is to hit it higher and towards the toe. He is so consistent, but unfortunately consistent with a strike pattern, which makes it tougher for him.
Really interesting. My own fitting with you we landed on TSR3 head 8.75 deg without the weight. I wasn't in a position to buy then, but i used the information gathered in the fitting to play around with my SIM2. I've bought a back weight which is approx 8 grams less than standard and added a counter balanced shaft. Massive difference! I really struggle with the back weights they put in drivers now. I understand why they do it for extra forgiveness and gear effect, but i get super spinny and struggle to square the face. The new Paradym standard is the worst for me, where the weight at the back is too extreme because of what they have saved elsewhere with the 360 carbon head. I note this gentleman struggled with the Paradym also, probably the same reason. I'll be coming back soon for another test against my revised gamer spec 👍 I'm keen to see how the TSR3 compares now.😂
Hey Paul! Hope you're well. I'm glad the fitting experience helped you adjust your current club with brilliant results, that's amazing! And yes I agree head Weights in general are far too heavy for the average golfer, especially with shaft length getting longer and longer. It benefits such a small amount of golfers!
One of the best fittings I’ve seen. I have been fitted a few times for a driver but never ever in that depth, never managed to see the results on the course that I would expect. Handicap has risen this year as main problem is that I can’t get off the tee, craving a fairway finder. Are all of your fittings that in depth or was that more than you would usually do? Would consider being fit in the same way but live a distance away in north wales, thanks
Fascinating move with the weight. When you take out the 8 gram weight what do you use to close the hole? Assume just a disc would be at least 1 gram. Surprised to see the loft at just 8.75 degrees. That’s what some tour pros with high swing speeds use. Most of us seniors have been moving from 9.5 degree heads to 10.5 degrees.
Absolutely brilliant fitting, I'd argue that gains like this, are more important/significant, because at his speed, literally every yard counts. Super impressive fitting 👏👍
I definitely need to look into this next year. I've been using a driver which was fit for me when really I was a beginner. I'm swinging it a little bit faster now but I have become a lot better player and it was two years ago I got fit. All the other clubs in my bag I'm really confident with and the driver I just seem to be all over the place.
Why did you not play with his tee height? He was consistently in the low center so it just seems logical to bring his tee height up. Just curious. Enjoyed watching his journey.
Very interesting. Would have liked to have seen him hit the paradym x head. Or some type of sft. Or ping g430 with the weight in the heal. Just could have cancelled that fade? Cheers
Possibly slightly, but the problem with those heads is they are very high spin. So where he was at with his current gamer was very straight but lacking distance, all of those heads would have just given exactly the same results. Maybe even slightly less distance than his current driver so would have been no gain.
@@rogb3199 again yes but you have to weigh up positives and negatives. If moving the ball position back that gives him less time to square the face and likely increase his right miss. Again just getting a better club in his hand helped a ton so just do that instead 🤷
As others has stated, you are doind a stellar and patient job in this fitting. I love the process and the reasoning you are also sharing. This looks and feels like a proper fitting should! 👍 I know the weight removal got the strike point in a much better place, so in that respect, removing the head weight improved the point from where forgiveness would be needed compared to the low strikes with the weight in. Still I'm just wondering what the removal of the head weight does in terms of potentially losing native head forgiveness, as weight distribution in the head so often is said to have an impact on that?
Hello. Very interesting fitting, good job. Could you please tell what the swingweigth was with 8 gr and without the weight? I was very surpsrised by the result but it just proved that you knew what you were doing👍
Very interesting fitting. Thanks! I have the same speed but I am very sensitive to the head weight. I have a Rogue ST and I feel that it drives me over the top.
Yes, I constantly had this bug over the years. I will check if I can lower the back weight. I have an old Callaway Fusion that feels way better and I feel I swing faster. I am trying a Sim Max but it also feels heavy in the backswing.
@@JDLMtheatre yeah so the 2 options really are to remove head weight or cut the shaft shorter. As shorter shaft really helps to reduce swingweight too. Both should help to give you more control of the head and work on getting the clubhead working down behind you before you start to turn 👌👍
Angle of attack is good but contact is always low on the head. Move the ball back a couple inches to catch the middle the face, or tee the ball higher to hit higher up on the face.
@@mrwoo33 will do my best! In all honesty its the editing that puts me off, they take sooo long to edit 😂 maybe when we can afford an editor there will be more 😂
I'm half way through and wondering why not suggest lowering the tee height 0.25-0.5 inches lower or a tiny bit farther back in his stance to help improve point of contact?
Great fit and love all the additional insights shared in the comments. I got driver fitted in 2022 after 30 years of playing off the shelf. Went in wanting G425 but hated the heavy head and counterbalanced shaft. Came out with 9* TSi2 Tensei Blue 55S and love it. The shaft feels so stable vs my old Cleveland driver with stock 55R and I hit a lot more fairways now due to more consistent strike. Curious if you played around with weight in the heel to try to improve the face rotation and mitigate the weaker fades?
Thanks Lindsay! And really glad you went and got fitted and ended up with something that you love and works really well for you. That's what it's all about 😊 and we did yes but where it kept the head weight higher I think regardless of whether it was in the heel or not it didn't make much difference. Better off just having less head weight making the club easier to release. Especially as standard the weights in Titlesit are only 8 grams anyway. That's never going to do a great deal in my opinion.
Yeah such a good driver! No we didn't mate, but how he struck the AV Blue, even if it were very marginally better, which it wouldn't have been, it wouldn't have been worth paying the £300 upcharge 😂 he was very good with the Tensei and even in the follow up video he hits it really well 👌
@@patrickbeach5915 I think that would just come down to the player really. Launch and spin would be the same so it would just come down to which one did we strike better
Hey David, depends exactly what you are after, you can check out our website for a full price list of fittings at: www.epgolfstudios.co.uk/book-a-fitting
I think with your knowledge and patience you need to be fair to your self, I just looked at your fee schedule and think you should up everything by 25. You deserve it especially with the gains that he got! If you were in the states I would drive a few hours knowing that I just got the best possible match for my swing! Cheers!
hey mate... I'm a rank crappy amateur who goes range and maybe a low end public course now and again.. a few times a year. Bought a basic entry level Wilsons quite a few years ago (£250 all in inc Bag!!). Is it better to get my swing sorted first and then get a fitting with a "proper" set of clubs?
Hey Drew, it was not no, because it spins a lot more than the TSR3 therefore would have just been the same if not less distance than his current set up. Plus with the ability to remove weight we can make the TSR3 lighter than the 1 model anyway to increase speed, pair that with the lower spin nature of the 3 head and that's how we get that extra distance 🚀🚀
Nice to see a fitter doing the right thing. In particular not advocating the most expensive sort of shaft. It was also interesting that a TSR3 was the go. Just shows again, go to a proper fitter not a big box store. I was horrified recently at the driving range where a 75 year old next to me with a slow swing had been sold a AUD1,000 plus anAUD1,000 SHAFT . The loft had been set to 8°. I offered to go back to the big box shop with him and sort it out. Unfortunately he did not want to make waves.
Yeah I think if fitting is done properly and you work with the client and you both make the decisions together based on the data that you see then you can't really go wrong. And in this case the AV Blue was a great fit so no need for expensive aftermarket shafts. But yes there are certainly a lot of fitters out there that don't do the right thing and just try and sell the most expensive shafts going 🤦
I have watched two of your amazing fittings for slower swing speed golfers - Meg and now this chap. Why do you seem to favor an upright lie angle on drivers?
Correct it certainly could have, however it would have also made the right miss worse and more consistent and moved angle of attack less up. Both bad. Better off leaving ball position forward and finding the right club and release pattern to help 👌
There's always hope Steve! And yes I'm sure it will be as in depth. Or maybe not quite this in depth 😂 I was with Geraint for 2 hours. Hopefully we can find you the perfect for a little bit quicker than that 🤞🤞
Ross, like you mentioned an interesting final build spec. You could have achieved this in a different way using a balanced certified counter weight, that way you could have maintained driver head weight. Certainly would have been interesting to compare the performance between the two techniques.
Yeah interesting idea but that would have almost certainly slowed down swing speed by making the overall club a lot heavier, as I mentioned in the video the theory is you will get more ball speed from more head weight. For most people this doesn't turn out to be true. If leaving the head weight in and then counterbalancing it would have led to lower swing speed then that would lead to lower ball speeds and less distance. We do use switchgrips so I have dabbled with that theory quite a lot too. It pretty much never plays out in a positive way for people trying to gain club speed.
He certainly was very accurate with his current driver for sure. And yeah exactly as you say, there is never any pressure to purchase the fitted equipment. Some would buy and many would decide to stick with their current driver. At least he had all the info to make an informed decision 👌
Hi, Would love to come down for a fitting. Do you expect a driver purchase post fitting? I generally buy a year old driver as they are half that of the current model. Rogue ST MAX LS is what im looking at moving too, from my Epic Flash Sub Zero which I have hated since I bought it.
Hi Jonny, thanks for the comment. So there is never any obligation to purchase the fitted club at the end of the session. But the only slight issue with that is we do only carry the most up to date models as we can't purchase old ones. And new to old heads may well perform slightly differently in terms of launch and spin so we could advise but you obviously wouldn't know the exact numbers if you were going to go and purchase one of the older models. But absolutely no obligation to buy when we fit you.
How come you didnt try ping g430 or the stealth range with him? Great insightful video tho. I play of 5 at 59 yrs old and im gettin paranoid of my speed and distances. No fun gerrin old!😢😅
We don't do Ping, can't seem to get an account with them at the moment, they are awkward! And to get max performance we would have needed to go to the Stealth 2 Plus which is super fade bias so no good for Geraint
Thanks Tim! And because to get the spin in the right window to maximise distance we would have needed to go into the lower spin Plus model. Which is super fade bias! So the Titleist was a wayyy better fit 👍
Hi Alvermeil. In the TSR3 there is only one weight. It's the weight in the sliding track. You can change this for different weights, or like we did in this fitting, just full take it out 👍
@@epgolfstudios I definitely would. I've never had a real fitting (independent of a brand), you had no allegiance to a manufacturer only to the golfer; THAT'S a fitting.
I am gaming a cobra Ltd - ls , @ 43 3\4 with 2 14 gram weights on head, comes in at D-0, It's a absolute bomber and fairway finder, also have a 14 gram counter balance weight on butt end !!
Funny enough I was just responding to someone else talking about this technique. I actually did a video on testing multiple clubs at different overall weights and swingweights as in your set up you can add weight to both the head and the butt to create a light swingweight but an overall heavy weight. Which if that works for you then that's brilliant. For most, especially when trying to add distance, just having less head weight ultimately leads to more swing speed and more ball speed. But everyone is different and had different requirements 👍
We did start to dabble with tee height towards the end but it didn't help too much but we left it a little higher just to encourage the upward angle of attack. It's a funny one tee height as obviously I've done hundreds of fittings where someone will have either a consistently high or consistently low strike pattern and mention about trying a different tee height to try and change strike height. This actually very rarely does anything and the strike pattern continues 😂
I’d love to see a ball or driver fitting where the same ball and driver is used at 70, 80, 90,100,110 mph swing. Would be interesting to see the results.
I think you'd really need a robot for that one! Unless someone can keep their delivery super consistent while only changing speed....I can give it a go but don't think I'm quite that good 😂
Very refreshing to see a fitting where the distances aren't 300+! Thanks for sharing 👍

A good fitting for the average golfers. Thank you
did you guys change the tee height at the 19:15 mark ? looks like he went from orange to a black tee.
A triple diamond at 8deg, for someone who struggles to generate a driver clubhead speed over 89mph is insane !!!!
It’s great to see how much time you spent in order to get the best combo.
Toll, ein Test mit einem normalen Golfer. Very Good !!
More of these please!
Great fitting. Lots good information here. Thanks for sharing!
That was very good, too see what you had to go thru to get there.
Thanks Phil, yeah sometimes it can be a long process! 😂 But got there in the end 👌
Great fitting. Good job!
Thanks Jack
Fascinating move with the weight. When you take out the 8 gram weight what do you use to close the hole? Assume just a disc would be at least 1 gram. Surprised to see the loft at just 8.75 degrees. That’s what some tour pros with high swing speeds use. Most of us seniors have been moving from 9.5 degree heads to 10.5 degrees.
Absolutely brilliant fitting, I'd argue that gains like this, are more important/significant, because at his speed, literally every yard counts. Super impressive fitting 👏👍
Thanks Duncan appreciate the positive comment 🙌
And yeah absolutely Geraint hits it so straight too so the yardage will definitely count on course 👌
Emjoyed this. Thinking of coming back in to get driver done. Irons still working despite my worst efforts
Thanks Nic! And yeah absolutely mate cmon down and we can try and get you sorted 👍👍
Do more of this please.
Definitely sounds like it's time for another look at the big stick then mate 🙌👍
Why did you not play with his tee height? He was consistently in the low center so it just seems logical to bring his tee height up. Just curious. Enjoyed watching his journey.
Thanks for the comment 👍 but please check the 50 other comments ref tee height 🤦😂
Great work Ross, looking forward to my return visit tomorrow and hope you can work your magic on me
Yes it will be good and I'm sure we can Andy
Just wondering why you didn’t tee the ball higher since his hits were all low on the clubface but he was so consistent.
We did. Didn't make much difference. It rarely does 😂
@@epgolfstudioshow about slight ball position change to raise the impact?
@@rogb3199 again yes but you have to weigh up positives and negatives. If moving the ball position back that gives him less time to square the face and likely increase his right miss. Again just getting a better club in his hand helped a ton so just do that instead 🤷
As others has stated, you are doind a stellar and patient job in this fitting. I love the process and the reasoning you are also sharing. This looks and feels like a proper fitting should! 👍
I know the weight removal got the strike point in a much better place, so in that respect, removing the head weight improved the point from where forgiveness would be needed compared to the low strikes with the weight in.
Still I'm just wondering what the removal of the head weight does in terms of potentially losing native head forgiveness, as weight distribution in the head so often is said to have an impact on that?
Great informative video. Wonder if slightly higher tee height might have raised strike on head.
Thanks Ron 🙏 and no it didn't really. We did try a higher tee but in this scenario that actually rarely works
Geddon uncle 🤙 nice strikes
Hello. Very interesting fitting, good job. Could you please tell what the swingweigth was with 8 gr and without the weight? I was very surpsrised by the result but it just proved that you knew what you were doing👍
Thanks! So with the standard 8 gram weight it's around D3 and without the weight it was around the C8 mark
Definitely need to come back and see you guys for a tune up 👌
Look forward to it Ashley 👊
Excellent!
Enjoy your approach. where are you located in the UK?
Thanks! We are in Newbury, Berkshire 👍
Very interesting fitting. Thanks! I have the same speed but I am very sensitive to the head weight. I have a Rogue ST and I feel that it drives me over the top.
Thanks JDLM! So you feel like more head weight gets that over the top move for you?
Yes, I constantly had this bug over the years. I will check if I can lower the back weight. I have an old Callaway Fusion that feels way better and I feel I swing faster. I am trying a Sim Max but it also feels heavy in the backswing.
@@JDLMtheatre yeah so the 2 options really are to remove head weight or cut the shaft shorter. As shorter shaft really helps to reduce swingweight too. Both should help to give you more control of the head and work on getting the clubhead working down behind you before you start to turn 👌👍
@@epgolfstudios You’re right because I have always cut my grip down to escape the feeling. Thanks again for the advice and video 😃
Angle of attack is good but contact is always low on the head. Move the ball back a couple inches to catch the middle the face, or tee the ball higher to hit higher up on the face.
Great video. Love a good custom fit 👍
Thanks Mrwoo!!
@@epgolfstudios your welcome, looking forward to seeing more like this 💪
@@mrwoo33 will do my best! In all honesty its the editing that puts me off, they take sooo long to edit 😂 maybe when we can afford an editor there will be more 😂

@@mrwoo33 brilliant, appreciate the support 👍
I'm half way through and wondering why not suggest lowering the tee height 0.25-0.5 inches lower or a tiny bit farther back in his stance to help improve point of contact?
Great vid 👏 keep it coming 👍
Thanks Kev 👍
Great vid. Great fit 👍👍👍
Thanks Paul 👍👍
Seems like the titeilst seems to be the go too in most of these fittings
really helpful, Apart from clubhead speed (I do 92-93) Geraint does a carbon copy of my own swing, including its misses :-)
TSR3 coming up clutch again! Wondering if you had him hit a ventus blue lightweight regular???
Yeah such a good driver! No we didn't mate, but how he struck the AV Blue, even if it were very marginally better, which it wouldn't have been, it wouldn't have been worth paying the £300 upcharge 😂 he was very good with the Tensei and even in the follow up video he hits it really well 👌
@epgolfstudios he hit it pretty darn well in this video too! Curious to see the marginal difference in those shafts
@@patrickbeach5915 I think that would just come down to the player really. Launch and spin would be the same so it would just come down to which one did we strike better
@epgolfstudios thanks for the relly...love the content keep it rolling!
Brilliant 👍👍
Cheers Dave 👍
Enjoyed
Very interesting video, I’m now thinking of having a fitting done. How much would one cost?
Excellent Content !!
Thanks William 👍
Seeing that the chap swung better with a lighter head, was the TSR1 put into the rotation and if so what were the summed up results?
Hey Drew, it was not no, because it spins a lot more than the TSR3 therefore would have just been the same if not less distance than his current set up. Plus with the ability to remove weight we can make the TSR3 lighter than the 1 model anyway to increase speed, pair that with the lower spin nature of the 3 head and that's how we get that extra distance 🚀🚀
@epgolfstudios Bam! Thank you for the explanation. Also thank you for sharing all this golden content!
@@drewhenderson2086 not a problem 👍
Nice swing!
Surely moving the ball slightly back in his stance would help with the strike?
Correct it certainly could have, however it would have also made the right miss worse and more consistent and moved angle of attack less up. Both bad. Better off leaving ball position forward and finding the right club and release pattern to help 👌
I wonder if mine will be this in depth on Saturday or you just think there’s no hope. 😊☺️
There's always hope Steve! And yes I'm sure it will be as in depth. Or maybe not quite this in depth 😂 I was with Geraint for 2 hours. Hopefully we can find you the perfect for a little bit quicker than that 🤞🤞
Watching .. Hitting better with the Black Tee and lower in the face with the Orange one .. Are they the same length ??
Orange tee is higher
Ball looks really fwd. Did you try him off a larger tee to bring the stroke up?
We did indeed
Do you take into account the effect of tiredness (mental and physical) with hitting so many balls?
Interesting. I swing around this speed and seem to get better results with higher loft.
It all comes down to delivery really. Speed is only a small factor
With so many low face strikes any reason why didn’t suggest raising the tee slightly during the session ?
We did. Didn't do much
Very accurate with old driver new one around €500 for 10 to 12yds gain seemed less accurate as well € 50 per 1yd . If you fancy a changed well done.
Because he can recoup a lot of that selling his current set up. If life is about saving as much money as possible maybe take up tiddly winks
He certainly was very accurate with his current driver for sure. And yeah exactly as you say, there is never any pressure to purchase the fitted equipment. Some would buy and many would decide to stick with their current driver. At least he had all the info to make an informed decision 👌
@@JimMaloney-l6t tiddly winks can get expensive 👀😂😂😂 but yeah exactly, everyone loves to tell people to spend their own money 🤦🤦😂😂
Hi,
Would love to come down for a fitting.
That’s a great deal of balls to hit normally. Got to tire sometime.
Great video. Why didn't you try any Taylormade heads? Just curious.
Thanks Tim! And because to get the spin in the right window to maximise distance we would have needed to go into the lower spin Plus model. Which is super fade bias! So the Titleist was a wayyy better fit 👍
I have a TSR free. Could you explain exactly what weight you changed in the head. Thank you.
Hi Alvermeil. In the TSR3 there is only one weight. It's the weight in the sliding track. You can change this for different weights, or like we did in this fitting, just full take it out 👍
Wonderful fitting, to bad you are across the pond from me.
Thanks TMar! Well if you are ever over here give us a shout 👊
Did you change the tee height to get the strike higher on the club face?
We did start to dabble with tee height towards the end but it didn't help too much but we left it a little higher just to encourage the upward angle of attack. It's a funny one tee height as obviously I've done hundreds of fittings where someone will have either a consistently high or consistently low strike pattern and mention about trying a different tee height to try and change strike height. This actually very rarely does anything and the strike pattern continues 😂
Just dropping the club slightly back promotes upward centre strikes
I’d love to see a ball or driver fitting where the same ball and driver is used at 70, 80, 90,100,110 mph swing. Would be interesting to see the results.
I think you'd really need a robot for that one! Unless someone can keep their delivery super consistent while only changing speed....I can give it a go but don't think I'm quite that good 😂
Great video with a great results. Shame you’re so far away 😢
No such thing as too far for a good fitting...
