As an LVT, I helped treat several dogs with "grassons," tiny particles in their sinuses from hanging their heads out of car windows. The infections were nearly impossible to treat and even after anesthesia, scoping and curetting their sinuses, these forgiegn body particles could not be found or removed. One died, the others had lifelong infections that did cause chronic poor health that eventually contributed to their demise.

Please tell me how you get by with cooking for them once a week.... this 3 times a day, plus midnight snacks is killing me. It's bad enough with the 2 to 3 times a week where I have to take them thru the drive thru....

Is 40 min walk 2x daily and a small 10 min walk at night enough? Also the 2x 40 min walks are in the woods and I let her roam freely, is this bad? She stays with me. She is 6 months on feb 3rd and weighs 47lbs. Also nobody else is ever in the woods I walk her in.

My golden retriever will not bite me she was a rescue dog but she’s never even snipped at a kid I’ve only seen her bark if she’s around a dog she don’t like or if they won’t leave her alone 😂 she’s very peaceful and quiet unless I just walk in the door from work

There is someone posting on Facebook trying to sell things that make the dog seem to be a service dog. Ive had friends with service dogs, usually labs. Its wrong and i wish i knew a way to stop them.

How do you manage the eating everything like grass, rocks, sticks with a 10 week Golden? I'm helping a friend and 3 times a week I spend time with his Golden, I'm never sure how much to allow freedom vs how much to have a tight leash.

Thank you for bringing up the fake service dog. It is so degrading to those that require a service dog. Most would love to have a pet but need this dog for essential support. It is so condescending to the true need for a service dog to pretend yours is one. Business owners CAN ask questions. Too often they are too cowardly to do so. Thanks for caring to be honest.

My Dixie IS my companion dog. She is NOT my service dog. I've had several strokes and just had hip replacement surgery last week. I would be lost without her.

You got a very active , full of energy big dog..you have to have the space or ability to let your retriever RUN and play and sniff and explore or he / she is gonna go crazy when they finally do get exposed to outside aka big open space..it is VITAL, I recommend you go to a trainer I had to I adopted mine at 4 years old and he was difficult to walk and strong as crap..they are WONDERFUL dogs , and loyal as can be and your dogs life can only be as full and fun as you allow

Thank you so much for the Service Dog comments! My daughter has a REAL service dog - one who spent almost a year in training to specifically deal with issues my 17 year old has with cerebral palsy. I'm always nervous about bringing the dog to restaurants, dr appointments, etc because the people who bring their "emotional support" dogs have absolutely created a horrible environment where those untrained dogs bark at people, have bad manners & distract REAL service dogs.
Frankly, I wish we could have a Federal licensure of verified service dogs, not emotional support dogs. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING!

My golden retriever puppy is so playful, sometimes she nips me by accident. My other dogs give her plenty time to play with and we have a huuuge backyard. It's just hard to potty train her. She used to go on her weewee pads and now we want her to finally go outside but she will come back in and poop on the floor.

Hey! Did you ever figure out this issue? I have a 10 week golden and I've been potty training him. At first he was doing great going outside but now he will not go outside when we go for a walk instead stright to the floor as soon as we go inside. How do I fix this?

If you live alone and don’t have friends come over then I guess that’s ok. But, if you do have friends and most people do, they usually don’t want a big dog jumping on them.
