    / 1584956105346842 In this video I show you how I repurpose an old window. I first make flowers out of tumbled glass and spray paint then I shape them using resin. I use these flowers along with other glass and beads to make a beautiful display of flowers on the old window. It is held together with resin.

    That is so creative and beautiful. Love that you used all different types of glass. I never worked with resin but this has peaked my curiosity. The tumbled glass is also something that I never thought about but now I want a tumbler...

    I’m just learning about this type of art, I saw a piece for sale and fell in love right away. Thank you for sharing your ideas and yard sale finds. I have a feeling this will be something I love to do because it incorporates so many things that I find beautiful; old window frames, stained glass, rocks…I think it’s great that you’re passing on your experience, I really appreciate it, I’m so excited to learn more!

    This is my favorite piece so far! I love poppies. Thank you so much for sharing. I have a couple of 100 yr old windows that I was wanting to do something with. I have a ton of frames so I'm ok in that dept. I know last summer was hot, but I live in the SW where we're being baked ( Its Aug 2, 2023 today) At least I'm not in our sister state of AZ where it was 118° 2 days ago. They're being cooked! I'm staying in, watching you tube or making crafts for fall. Anyway, I love anything that involves using things that people throw away. I love going "junkin" to 2nd hand stores or garage sales. Its too hot here for garage sales this yr. There are so many women that come up with the best ideas, plus some men too. Thank you SO much for teaching us. I love learning new things, even at 65! 😄
    I'm wondering if you could do a video showing us exactly how to make the poppy's? That the one thing I'm not exactly sure of. Thanks again. Stay cool down there in FL! 🌹
    PS I love that green bowl you got. I would use that in my glass flower yard art. It would be beautiful in a piece like that, in my opinion. Take care! 😊

    • @crazyglasslady
      @crazyglasslady  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you. Yes I enjoy watching all the DIY youtube channels also.Its amazing the stuff they come up with. I just turned 65 last week also, don't know where the time has gone. So as far as making the poppies you must mean the glass that I use as petals before they are put together. so I actually have a large, actually several large containers of clear glass that I just picked from ones that I thought would work good as a petal. So this is just glass that I had picked up at garage sales and thrift stores broken up randomly ( Smashed with a hammer) and threw in the tumbler. If you smash up enough you will have some to choose from. Now you could also shape pieces with a nipper tool after you break it then tumble it. I will see if I can make one shaping the glass so you can see it may not come out for a while. Do you tumble glass? If not you may be getting a new hobby LOL.

    That is perfectly beautiful! I’m so glad you added more pink glass to the pink flowers. The pink flowers were too flat with the green stems in the middle. The added glass gave the flowers dimension and reality. Beautiful, dimensional piece of art!! thank you for sharing. I was also thinking your tiny bead technique for the stems would would be great for outlining figures like the Christmas dog and angel instead of the rhinestone chain. Just a thought . Thank you for sharing. i always enjoy and learn so much from your experimentation!!❤

    I just found your channel and let me tell you, I am obsessed! I make fused glass in a kiln and I’ve never seen anything like what you do! I’m definitely going to try this!
    In this video I see you learned the hard way that the only thing silicone sticks to is silicone! 😊 I’m thinking I can fuse and mold some glass poppies and create something similar using your creativity as my inspiration!❤

    I am new to this and I love your site. My question is have you ever used alcohol inks to stain the glass instead of using the Krylon

    • @crazyglasslady
      @crazyglasslady  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and I had a problem with fading. Someone was telling me that the lets resin alcohol inks may work better. So I have had problems with it fading on fire glass but not on crushed glass like ashland decorative filler from michael's

    If the resin is set and then you decide to add more OR want to make resin thicker... can new mixed resin go over prev dried/set resin?

    • @crazyglasslady
      @crazyglasslady  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it can but you for the most part you have to reresin everything ( The Glass) because you can see where it starts and stops . Now You could use UV resin like a glue and just put int under the item you are attaching. I hope that answered your question.

    Love the poppies. I was given some old windows, which has me wanting to get started creating beautiful glass work like you. So far I have nothing just the windows. Do you have a list of must haves to start up a project. Thanks and keep up the great work.

    • @crazyglasslady
      @crazyglasslady  ปีที่แล้ว

      It kind of depends on what glass you want to work with. So with tumbled glass of course you need a tumbler and you have watched the sea glass video I have my tumblers linked in description under all the videos. If you plan on working with resin then of course resin. But I have most all the supplies I use under description with links. I would honestly just start by getting some glass and tumbling it. Then decide what you want to make from there.

    Beautiful window! Which method of making the poppies 3D did you think worked best, the Lexel, the clear caulk or the resin?

    • @crazyglasslady
      @crazyglasslady  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I really liked the lexel but it was flexible and the petals did not stay up as well. The resin worked the best but you have to do it in a separate container. The clear silicone was a mess because I should have known better then putting it on silicone mat. I think the back may have been a mess because I had to rip it off the silicone mat. I may try the silicone on a smaller project directly on the glass and prop the petals up. Im glad you asked It gave me an idea for another project

    I have never worked with resin and am afraid to try it. But I've got four windows about 20 x 24 and want so much to try it. I have flat backed marbles and also some round. I've got broken up small glass and stained glass. I'm quite used to cutting and working with stained glass but I'm a bit worried about putting it all together. I probably should practice on some smaller stuff first. Anyway, I'm anxious to get going. I have some tumbled glass as well but it's matte and not shiny like yours and I probably left it too big. Interesting to see that you can 3D the glass as in the poppies and it looks great. Love your stuff and am so inspired.

    • @crazyglasslady
      @crazyglasslady  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! It sounds like you have quite the variety of glass. If you follow the directions on the resin ( Most are a 1 to 1 ratio ) you should be fine. The red glass that is shiny is only shiny because I sprayed it with the krylon stained glass spray paint. Also when you pour resin over the glass it makes a matte finish shiny. There are so many cool ideas on pinterest for windows especially with those flat back marbles. Good luck would love to see what you make when you are finished.

    • @crazyglasslady
      @crazyglasslady  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was just thinking yes thats a good idea to practice on a small picture frame , it will allow you to become more comfortable with the resin. Be sure to glue it and tape it so you dont have any resin leaks because that can be very discouraging.

      @@crazyglasslady Thank you so much. Right now I'm doing a table top using my collection of Swatch watches *have 51 of them* going into this project. I will use 1" square ceramic tiles along the rectangular border. Once I've got them positioned and glued, I will want to use resin to perpetuate the design, give it depth and protection. I painted the table surface and have laid out my design. Don't know if I want to add anything else. Sky's the limit. Suggestions welcome. That's why I'm so anxious about the resin though.

    Can you do something like this without tumbling the glass

    • @crazyglasslady
      @crazyglasslady  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you can just cut the pieces in the shape you want and use it like that but the edges would be sharp. You could also go over the edges quick with a sanding block, sand paper or a stained glass grinder. They do not need to be tumbled.
