There is nobody else that rides a bike like Armstrong. He still is thrilling to watch, and such a great inspiration. I know...he is a fallen hero, but not in my book. Watching him ride helped me through some very tough times and I will never forget that. Thanks for the memories!

Why is it that every time I look at Armstrong in these old tours I get chills. He just looks weird and different than everyone else. It's like he's more honed in than anyone else. It's like the others want to finish and he's willing to die.

Sure he doped, but he was superbly talented, had a great team supporting him and trained better than he raced. If all it took to win the Tour was taking drugs, then there’d be a crowd on the podium.
Not saying what he did was good or fair, but he was the greatest of his time.

Lance was probably the best, strongest bicycle rider ever. But every contest has rules and in order to win, you must compete by the rules. Armstrong did not play by the rules, so therefore he did not win. Maybe others would not have won either, but every contestant agrees to compete by the rules and knows the risk of getting caught is DQ.What if someone rode 10 miles, got in a car and then rode the last 10 miles, would they be allowed? What, they would not? Why not, because it in the rules that riders must ride the entire distance. That's why we have rules and rules in sporting contests should be followed and when they are not followed the rules should be enforced.

And what about Miguel Indurain? did he win 5 tours de France? According to the UCI he did, but there is literally a 0% chance that he did so without doping, his performance was quite literally superhuman, and everyone he competed with later admitted to doping. He quietly retired once doping scandals started becoming more common. Lance's only mistake is one-upping him with 7 victories instead of 5. In fact, in Lance's time, drug testing was a lot more rigorous, so he doped a lot less than the madmen in Indurain's era.
The rules are just a piece of paper, what actually happens is a different story

For just about every positive comment about Lance’s domination in this event, there are replies of cheat…..Well you Woke Snowflakes, they all doped, have since the beginning of this, so it was a level field, and Lance, as has been documented, spent his entire year training for this event.

The cadence is thanks to mechanical doping.

John DeCoite Really??? Jail??? For what? Do you have a car John? If you do, have you ever gone over the speed limit, ran a yellow light that you should have stopped for, didn’t come to a complete stop at a stop sign? If the answer is yes, then you have cheated the laws that a licensed driver and registered car owner are supposed to adhere to. Imagine if after 10 years you were pulled over and ticketed for every single driving infraction that you had committed in that 10 year time period. Which ultimately cost you your drivers license, which then caused you to lose your job, which then led to you being homeless, which led to your wife leaving you and getting custody of your kids. To top it all off, now imagine that all of those infraction left you with an insurmountable debt of tickets.....totaling $100,000. Now imagine that this all played out on national tv in front of everyone. You say “everyone else is speeding, running red lights, making illegal turns, and texting while driving, why am I being punished so harshly?” Imagine what the backlash of the general public would be......... No one would have sympathy for you. More importantly you would get crucified in the public eye. People would be calling for your head. People would be calling for you to go to jail for a long long time. But haven’t you suffered enough? You lost EVERYTHING. Including yourself to some degree. Isn’t that enough????? Exactly my point brother. Hasn’t lance armstrong suffered enough. He LOST EVERYTHING. They literally pretend like he was never even in the TDF. Isn’t that enough? Or does he need to hear ignorant people calling for him to be locked up. Get down off of your pedestal brother.

As wer know, there was a positive doping test on the first day at the first tour after his comeback. If not for corruption and politics, he would have been suspendet and would probably never have won the TdF. But back then Armstrong's Comeback was a feel good story. So they let it happen. After 1998 cycling had the chance to make a new start. They did not take it. I will never understand that.

  • @munsterfloyd

They weren't all doping! There were clean riders but they finished down the GC. The drug cheaters ruin the sport. There are young kids out there who want to emulate their "heroes" but their heroes are cheats. Shame on them.
