This is just gorgeous music. Watching the full performance, my favourite part was seeing the little smiles from the people in the orchestra, you can tell that they were having fun!
i have to agree, his singing is a little bit ... you know. but the whole rest is simply amazing, i've been waiting for orchestral dnb fusion ever since i started to listen to dnb, and THEY DELIVERED. nuff said.
The problem really isn't the singer, they should have had multiple singers harmonizing for the chorus, this song isn't built for a solo singer. But when he isn't singing the chorus he still isn't quite matching the intensity of the orchestra. Still fucking superb.
@Warzol Haha it just another badly orchestrated phrase, although not really unrelated, as they're actually playing a motif of what he's singing in a different key relation, but overall it doesn't sound effective neither. The orchestra is quite small, as they're just early classical, if you're saying big band, i would have thought you're talking about early or late romantic/ 20th century orchestra. :D
@Warzol they can always go for a synth sound instead of an orchestra, much cheaper :/. I personally prefer string/ woodwind orchestra within an electronic (if they're really needed) instead of brass; cause their can be a bit more gently played instead of dominating the whole electronic sound ideas. But very true that it will loses its balance/goodness when adding too much orchestral parts, and causing to loses the taste of its original genre.
please start producing tracks, write the score for a whole orchestra, get a singer involved, show us that first class fusion - then start complaining.... it kicks ass... i know what i'm talking about, this is my 20th year of producing music...
It's funk, it's soul, it's classical, it's DnB, it's a perfect fusion of old and new.
0:23 applaud for that guy shaking his head :)

This is Jazzstep?
Tribute to Carlton Banks ^_^
It's hard to cathegorize, as almost all of the music today. The original song could be called liquid, liquid funk or liquid drum'n'bass.
@CyrusDaVirus1 um yes it is...
Black 1 is the great 1, but he might be more laconic in time of orchestral passage. COS they allso great...& more than 1. right? DJ's are on air.

I agree EviM4. I dont think the arrangement works at points. I still like it though
