I’ve played double bass for 20 years (this tune partly influenced my decision to get one) - I play some fairly complex jazz runs and still find this a bugger to play!
This is the pinnacle of DnB in the world. Playing it live and sounding unbelievable, on a medium that EVERYONE can see. You didn't have to go to a rave to hear this, it was on BBC!
Saw a documentary (?) which showed them all playing in a kitchen or something... bass player sat on the counter... never been able to find it since. Best thing I'd ever seen.
JFC how am I only seeing this today??? I'm a die hard junglist, Roni Size et al was my absolute shit back in the day. Live DnB will always captivate my soul.
Never stopped blasting D&B. Not baking as much as I used too but that's ok. Break beats (and beats in general) are my daily high. I'm actually hear now looking for some old school jams to add to my library. The rhythm never stops!
What a track. Britain really does produce some talent. Huge shout from the US. Loving these guys and also other various UK electronica based acts like Faithless, Burial, Chemical Brothers, FSOL, UNKLE, Underworld, Massive Attack, Leftfield, Stereo Mcs, The Streets, Goldie, Sleaford Mods, The Bug, ALLFLAWS
I saw Roni Size in front of about 40 people whilst doing sound checks at the Reading festival in 97 or 98 ( too stoned at the time to remember years!). Coolest man alive; and the dance tent rocked later during the performance.
Was fortunate enough to see them on this tour in Toronto back in the day. Unbelievable performance, leagues ahead of everyone and the crew were true pioneers. Great days!
Remember this was my favourite cd listening in college, thought yer man toasting was the actual shit. Beautiful time thanks Ronnie 🙏 apologies about the additional n. 😆
0:58 that was what we called a "computer monitor" , in the ancient dreamtime of music . The Elders of the tribe used to connect their "desktop computers" to it . 1:22 Real, it was kept.
Check the original version and understand this is another planet.Riff ,on time ,off time , stop, and begin again , these guys could pour out a bag of marbles and it would sound like music.
It lives, the bass is the heartbeat that it gives When we apply the brakes, there'll be no skids Just more elements to consider as we glide Dimensions and the measurements and the evidence you will find
"...step to the rhythm..." God this tune still bring goosebumps to me. It`s watching these moments that you realise how powerful music is and what bullshit racism is. White and black doesn`t even exist here, just a magic moment for humans.
How nobody is praising the bass player to no end is astonishing! He kept up that mad riff for so long!!!
i thought the bass sounded off at the start

Hey, I'm praising the bass player a lot! Like everyone should...
I know right!?!?!

this is Jungle not DnB
@@alexescapista7720 Jungle is DnB. Jungle might have been first but the entire genre is DnB.
God damn right! Represent the people
I love a live drummer doing a dnb beat. Brings so much depth.
adds a signature that electronic drums can't..
It's so good, the lil tom hits is just 👌
Have you checked Jojo Mayer with his band Nerve, top notch

Will never forget the day live Drum and Bass was played and broadcast on BBC2 to millions of people and totally smashed it. Historic moment!
elninolondres what year was this? Looks about 1999?
@@lolaa6971 1997 i think

Great song from a great album.
Glad he did it with real percussion just for the Art of it.
Roni Size was a very clever man and a true pioneer of intelligent drum n bass. Great shit...
still one of the coolest performances in existence
This is one of the first electronic songs I went crazy for. I first heard it on MTVs Amp. Back when they actually played music.
Exactly where I fell in love with this tune as well. Went crazy on jungle from there.
Date of release?

Nothing short of an exhibition of pure raw talent! Take notes kids, no auto-tune mumble bullshit here, this is real music!
It's gotten even worse since your comment 2 yrs ago!

Nah, he's too busy ending racism.
