True! Nowadays, the stage design is so generic that you can't even feel the host country's culture.
WOW...That opening ceremony parade just melted my heart... just can't imagine what all the audience was feeling. BRAVO BRAVO for the Dominican people who work HARD to deliver a great display of their culture from the beginning trough the end of the show
Those were the days when the pageant had the host country's culture and feel all over the telecast. Now? You wouldn't know where the pageant was taking place.
@@PungiFungiGood News the Opening Ceremony Returned the culture style and it was held in New Orleans but it’s still the same thing but with improvements i hope so this kind of openings will return this year in El Salvador and the stage props or decorations that was held in host countries
@@johngabrieltag-at8106 I am hoping the new owner will bring MU back to the years of the 1970s to mid 1990s...it is these years that create the passionate pageant fan base that exists today. There was so much class and respectability back then. Also, the pageant was more transparent in how the winner is selected.
The Miss Universe pageants of yesteryears had so much class and prestige. So lacking today.
Today, thanks to Trump (even despite his being in the Oval Office), the pageants have now sunk to the level of "flesh parades."

Espectacular, y todo hecho a mano, nada de pantallas computacionales. Ahora la apertura las misses bailan uma canción discotequera y listo, se perdió la magia.

José Luis Salazar Oficial sin duda todo un espectáculo. Para el 77 es el primer I único miss universo que se firmó en parte en su palacio nacional. Uno de los más completos organizados I costosos de la historia de miss universo

Uno de los más espectaculares MU de la historia ,que orgullo que fué realizado en Republica Dominicana,fué un espectáculo excepcional y en esa época no había los recursos tecnológicos de hoy,sin embargo siendo un país pequeño,en subdesarrollo,
pusimos el alma y el corazón en mostrar un MU digno para el mundo,que será recordado por siempre.Nunca olvídate que fui del grupo de niñas elegidas para participar en el opening y no cabía en mí pecho tanta emoción . Estoy deseando que volvamos a ser sede . QUE VIVA REPUBLICA DIMINICANA 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
The girls had more of a natural look back then. I liked Paraguay and Sweden but neither made semis, so I went w/ Spain, USA or Trinidad that night; we were shocked when Miss Trinidad won, the first black MU, she was the talk of the high school I went to the following Monday, everyone agreeing she deserved the crown.

Wow, what an incredible event! I can't even express how fortunate I feel to be Dominican. This Miss Universe was an absolute celebration of joy, identity, and culture. It was amazing to see our rich heritage and vibrant spirit shine so brightly on such an important event. It makes me want to be there to witness and be a part of such a phenomenal display of our nation's pride and unity.
And Roberto Cavalli (one of the judges) married the first runner-up, then Miss Austria! Husband and wife till today!

What a beautiful pageant the Dominican Republic put on a great show in 1977. As always a beautiful 80 young ladies this year. Hard to pick just one favorite. Bob Barker really was a fantastic host. Amazingly good with speaking’s couple of other languages besides English. Miss Bob Barker. Fantastic program this year. I love the pageant back in the 1970s and 1980s...the contestants all had to learn to do the complex and intricate opening number, instead of everybody doing the same dance steps nowadays.

Estos si eran espectaculos ! Antes el concurso era mágico, se resaltaba la cultura del pais anfitrión, no como ahora que son tan aburridos, jamaz se comoaran los escenarios variados de antes con las porquerias de ahora, es todo monitores y nada mas! Y las chicas antes tan naturales y hermosas, no como las de ahora que solo lo que hacen es ridiculeces, gestos fingidos, posadas y haciendo tonterias y ridiculeces. Ojala vuelva el miss universo como esta época!

Amazing Production! 23 minutes opening number & contestant introduction-(parade of nations) from the opening "ceremony" to the stage/scenography - unheard nowadays- now we can giant screens & a few minutes of introductions, times do change and I guess we must adapt :)

Best opening of ANY Miss Universe pageant ever. I was born in the 90’s but this edition from 1977 was 😍.

Many things to remark, for those years without internet, 4K TV, without live streaming, without auto tune or drones that had to be a very strong effort in order to have a quality in a live show like that, even from a country coming from a dictatorship. Seeing together in a same scenario with Oscar de la Renta, Roberto Cavalli, Mario Moreno Cantinflas honestly that was a great Miss Universe, congratulations to my country. Today 4th of July 2022 I'm watching it (I was born a year later of that show) our culture is very rich, I read your comments but not only that opening, we are a party in every thing we do, also the swim suit competition recorded in 4 different locations as Casa de Campo which is the most visited in the Caribbean and Teatro Agua y Luz which is actually closed.. Also out National Ballet, the whole National Theater. It was a two dumbs up for our country and our people. @missuniverse

Miss Colombia era la màs bella,por algo la bautizaròn en el concurso como la muñeca, si no ganò debio ser Virreina, al final ocupò el 4to lugar, pero dejò el nombre de Colombia muy en alto, hermosa Aura Marìa y aun lo es despuès de tanto tiempo.

yo vi este MU . que espectaculo.que calidad de evento de verdad muchas bellezas las misses espectaculares bien merecido la Ganadora la primera de color y hasta el momento la mas bella de nuestra raza. lo único que no me gusto que la chica local entro entre las 12 por ser sede habia muchas mas bella que ella por lo demas 20 puntos

Holland and Germany were really beautiful, but cold / no charisma. Venezuela was already showing strength sending well prepared candidates and start in 1979 the long winning tradition in MU.
T&Tobago was the best and deserved it. It was nice seeing how the other contestants approved her winning, especially the black girls seeing themselves represented. Great.
