Great video guys. Would be great if they made a actual GT version of this car with their 1.6 turbo engine, it'd be a proper hot hatch.

even better would be to fit the 2.0 turbo from the base stinger. If VW can fit a 2.0 turbo to a Polo GTI so can Kia.
Kia picanto isn’t meant to be a hot hatch though
@@thesilentgametestr Neither is a Polo, Fiesta, Up, Clio or 208, but they all make fantastic hot hatches with a decent motor.
blake301987 no, but they have been around years with hot hatch variants, the picanto has never had an engine greater than 1.2, this car was aimed at people who are old, want cheap running motor or first car hence why until not it’s never had anything with a turbo... depending on the design of this little turbo engine I’m sure a remap will gain it a decent amount extra to make it my zippy.
This is actually faster than my previous car which was a Toyota Corolla 2007, took 11 seconds to reach 100.
Mine is faster than yours. I could do 9.8s but this Rio is even faster!
Progress my dudes. I had a 1.6l Accent with 138HP which felt pretty zippy but the same engine with a turbo getting "201" HP feels much faster top end. Lower end torque say it's higher but I really feel it more top end.

@@supercooled I'm looking into taking that same 1.6 t a d putting it in a 09 rio5. Lol. Rn the car runs 8.46 0-60 mph with just headers, fuel pump, ngk coils and plugs, throttle body. No tune yet
@@loganlowe7290 I have a Kia Forte5 with the 201hp cellared engine. No tune but exhaust and down pipe. Feels quicker then stock but it’s nothing compared to my new outback XT. 2.4litre 260hp this thing pulls man.

Snuck up on a friend with a 2018 rio. Literally so quiet it could be a windless day and no noise, i swear no one would even know you pulled up on them at all, exept for AC compresser.
They need to put the same engine as the cerato GT in this. Would be a decent hot hatch then.

A lot of these engines do resonate fiercely at low load at 1500-2000rpm, mine is no exception on a hyundai i20
What drive mode was the 0-100 conducted in, Eco, Normal or Sport?

Well the Rio is 85 kg lighter and the Civic uses a CVT while the Rio is a DCT, so it all adds up.
I made with a professional timer 8,65 with my 1.8 Civic IX(same details)(manual). You have an automatic(CVT) or you're just shift slowly.

Me too but if they're only making 88 KW I wouldn't worry about it too much
Small turbo engines go overheat often and their efficience is very conditioned to weather and driving style.. also they're relatively expensive to repair, etc.
I drive a 4 cylinder 1.5 litre mazda 2 with around 100 hp and i am happy so far with the acceleration, handling, etc. It's not a bad power output for an engine that size i reckon

Add a BOV, bigger intercooler, Dyno tuned. Should be able to do 7 flat to 100.
I have a 2013 Kia Rio SLi and wanted the new Rio....but its GT Line only comes in auto no GT manual version like the Picanto GT....so i got that....0-100 the same but much much more fun to drive.
Why 3rd to 4th gear change seems like clutch slipping ?

So true. There are around seven in my family and we will probably only buy Kia again. So much better than all the cars we suffered with in the past. Utterly reliable and so much better than the price suggests.

its 10 seconds. 3:40 to 3:50

You're exactly right. I work for Kia. Youd be better off getting the picanto as well. With the decrease in weight you can literally throw it around a corner and it just flies

I have bought a 2020 kia rio gtline recently. Automatic is to prefer, really! 7gears, guided by computer get the best out of the car. You can drive it manuelly too if you like. Just push the stick to the left, voila! Shift gears manuelly by pushing forward or back! An important advice, always fill your lovely kia rio gtline with the best quality petrol/gas. She deserves it and it is worth the extra money, both by the more prestanda and fuel economy! Don't take my word for it! Check it up yourself!
my old honda sedan has 120hp, so like this kia rio. its 3 times bigger than the kia but doing 8.23sec to 100. why is the kia so slow??

If I was looking for a mini type of car like the Rio, I would go for a accent, jazz or mazda 2 instead.
My wife has the new cerato, fantastic car. I have the Picanto GT Line it's very small but an ideal second car

I just got this Río, but the Drive version. I dont see the real advantages apart from aesthetics. The one I purchased is 120 HP and 1.0 3 cylinder, the same as this unit.

Crazy Fox I also drive a Kia with the turbo engine. It’s quick and yeah good value. Moves 3000lbs quite well. Put that engine in this rio or picsnto and it will feel like a rocket ship.

Because it's for decent value economy. I agree that the car should have more power but thats not it's goal. There ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with mating a small engine to a turbo. In fact its great. Turbo's are a great way to increase performance (VS increasing engine size). Turbo needs to be take away from the high performance cars only mindset. The only thing thats wrong is that it has a 'GT' badge. Its in no way a 'GT' car. Again, a good value, decent performing (not racing) economy car for getting around town and decent on the highway.
