@@spookymoth6134This part was also emotional, as it helps Angel Dust realize that even though he has a shitty life, he is not alone and can go through life's obstacles and be happy, even though he is a loser (like Husk)
@@spookymoth6134 Because they are both in a deperate situation situation with no good end for them, because of theirs choices (that is why they are loosers). But in this hell of a life, they are happy to have someone who they can talk to who shares their situation
"Maybe if I'm broken, I won't be his favourite toy anymore" hits so much harder when you remember when Angel said before "Do you know how much I'm worth?"
Yeah, Angel knows exactly how much he is worth and it kills him. I mean, they're functionally immortal. He will never grow old or be permanently mutilated. He will always be as young and attractive as he is now.
@@rosesweetcharlotteyou know what’s really painful about those quote? It’s how realistic it sounds, and angel’s entire situation feels so real, especially for those who have had similar experiences
Angel Dust deserves so much better than this. The way Valentino treats him and what Angel said about trying to get broken enough that Val will let him go, it's really painful to watch. I'm glad he and Husk have found common ground and can support eachother. And I love the message in "Loser, Baby." It's not your usual, "cheer up, things will get better" song. It's more realistic. Yeah, Angel's life is screwed up, but he's not alone. He now has someone who understands that he can look to for support. That's as good a start as any.
One commenter once said, “Poison broke me so that Loser could heal me.” I honestly couldn’t agree more with them; the more severe the wounds, the more of a Godsend the medicine is when it does it’s magic.
I love Poison. It’s so tragic but it’s catchy. I just try to focus on singing along with the song and try not to focus on the visuals. As Angel says I do my best to “disassociate” myself from the visuals. Poor Angel Dust.
What is also an overlooked interaction is how Valentino is forcing Angel to dance using chains during Poison. But when Husk is dancing with Angel in Loser baby, he is actually holding him and guiding his steps carefully, instead of forcing it
Angel and Charlie have such a sibling dynamic, Angel wants to keep Charlie away from his life because of how harmful it is and Charlie wants the best for him and is protective over him.
I have a theory/feeling that he kinda relates Charlie to his (younger?) sister, Molly. (Slight spoiler for ep 6) In the song “Welcome to Heaven” you can actually see Molly in the background and so I could definitely see her having a similar personality to both Charlie and Emily
@@qrat6843 He definitely does, I feel like specially since going to Hell Charlie has been the closest to an actual family to him, I can see him getting more protective of her and vice versa as the show goes on.
If I said it once up top, I’ll say it again here: Blake Roman NEEDS to be on the shortlists of so many awards ceremonies for his performance just in this one episode. He has easily become more than qualified to be Michael Kovach’s successor in the role of Angel. The way Angel’s voice slips between Angel Mode and Anthony Mode, the way Blake warbles and cracks and SINGS… I have nothing but awe and praise for that kid. Bravissimo to Blake Roman for being so, so amazing!
@@Neverland1977 I agree with everything you just said. He was absolutely PHENOMENAL!! The fact that he also voices the egg boiz just shows this man’s RANGE!! I have nothing but praise for him
i saw him on Broadway before Hazbin hotel came out and I already knew he was going to be amazing in this but this episode is what got me irreversibly obsessed with him
Real talk when his voice went from Angel to Anthony during the dressing room scene I got a whole ass PIT in my stomach like “… yes, Valentino.” *AAAAAAAAAAAAAA-*
9:35 valentino is so cocky here cause he KNOWS angel is going to stop her. Abusers are cowards by nature, and if he'd never get into a confrontation with someone stronger than him - Charlie could annihilate him, but Val has managed to convince angel that he is the strongest, most powerful thing and that he could hurt her, so he knows damn well Angel is gonna intervene
I know it was Valentino. He needs to have a taste for his own medicine. But. Angel dust outbursts Charlie Morningstar and I believe that Angel Dust is Wrong cause It’s all Valentino’s fault.
Absolutely. If Charlie went full demon mode, she could wipe the floor with Val and not even break a sweat. But, she also cares for Angel and he is so abused and broken by Val that he truly believes Val could harm her, which is exactly what Val wants him to think. He knew Angel was broken enough to stop Charlie and Charlie is too nice and loving of Angel to do anything that might upset him more.
something that makes me really soft: husk never grabs angel. he holds his hands out and waits for angel to take them, and never once forces his hand at him. now if you’ll excuse me i’ll by crying in the corner
to make it even better I noticed how when they're dancing, there's always a distance between them. Everyone that Angel interacts with at work gets all the way in his space with no regard for his comfort, so the fact that Husk stays at a respectful distance when they're dancing means Angel can have fun and be comfortable. Idk if that was intentional but I thought it was really wholesome and cute
Honestly as an abuse victim, I think the depiction of abuse in this episode was accurate and well done- purely because of how visceral and uncomfortable it makes the audience feel. And it's only a *peek* into Anthony's reality, which speaks volumes about the true depths of abuse like this.
Honestly, this episode is my favorite so far, just because of how painful, heartbreaking and tragic this one is. Especially that scene where angel tells why is putting on his flirting persona, it feels so real, just because of how this happens in real life too. Hazbin hotel really isn’t afraid to dive into mature subjects, and on one side, i kinda like that, to show not everything is all sunshine and rainbows, if you know what I mean
It made me so upset that people were angry that as an abuse victim, Angel is hyper sexual. People were saying that it was inaccurate and offensive yadda yadda. But everyone copes differently. Some victims of SA ARE hypersexual and that’s how they cope. I think Angel’s depiction is spot on. Especially how he admits WHY he does it
hello, i know that i dont know how you feel i just want to tell you i feel like that you are doing great by just being able to tell strangers about being abused so i hope life is good for you
He is also very flirty showing he is interested in him and has no issue with him being so sexual. His issue was the facade Angel was putting on. "Babe that's fine by me" says it all
"If I can ruin myself enough in the process, if I end up broken, I won't be his favorite toy anymore. And, maybe he'll let me go." This. Line. Ugghh, tore me to pieces... The way Blake's voice shakes through that dialogue is heartbreakingly beautiful.
It’s not that deep bro… if this show makes you torn to pieces then I’d hate to imagine how you’d react to shows like Better Call Saul or movies like the joker or Scarface
9:12 Angel was the ONLY reason why Charlie didn’t tear into him and I believe that 1000000% because unlike most, Charlie respects Angel as a person and even though she wishes to protect him she won’t do anything he doesn’t wish to happen.
It isn't really that Angel doesn't want Charlie to hurt Valentino, it's just that Angel doesn't know just how powerful Charlie is, so he thinks that by intervening he's protecting her from Valentino, even though the reality is that Charlie could completely tear Valentino into shreds.
@@kozolith2121he was protecting Charlie from herself because he knows what it would do to Charlie if she went to Val's level he was also protecting the only pure thing left in his life although I wish she wiped that smug ass grin off his face
@@kozolith2121 What''s even worse is that Val knew perfectly damn well that Charlie could and would kill him, so he orchestrated the entire procedure on the fly to emotionally manipulate both Angel AND Charlie. Val muscled Angel into believing that Charlie actually was far weaker than him and couldn't do anything, and THEN he manhandled and threw Angel *towards the bed* instead of throwing him *into Charlie.* If Angel had been thrown into Charlie, it would've been obvious that he was following Val's orders in forcing Charlie to leave. Instead, by making Angel get up and march over to Charlie himself, it makes it look more like it was entirely Angel's decision, so Charlie was indirectly emotionally manipulated into thinking that Angel throwing her out was entirely HIS decision and not Val's. No wonder Val has that devious grin on his face the entire time...
Antony's voice change when he said the second "Yes, Valentino" floored me. He sounded so low, so real. Once he drops his persona, Angel Dust, he's just a normal guy... reduced to slavery and disassociation. He may have had for real a passion for adult toys, flirting and drugs, but everything stopped being fun once It was forced. Too late for him to turn back, now. Poor, poor Anthony.
I need to see more people talking about his voice change. To be honest, the most heartbreaking moment for me. It wasn’t Angel Dust talking… it was Anthony. The mask was off. The persona was gone. It was raw. There was no need to act, just a need to survive. Gut wrenching.
@@RyuTama42 Exactly. I don't know why so few people are noticing that voice change. To me, It was like a punch in the guts. We weren't looking at Angel Dust, in that moment. We were looking at Anthony, in his most honest and desperate state. That was probably his voice when he was a young adult and was still navigating in the world. That was the voice that his family and friends probably knew, that was him without any mask on. Now, knowing for sure that he puts on a mask for probably 95% of the time, It hurts to hear his casual high pitched voice. Because know we know what that voice hides.
I still remember seeing that box of adult toys in the prequel comic that had 'fun stuff' marked out and 'work stuff' written on it instead. Val destroyed any fun or enjoyment he took from sex and now he only uses it to scare people off and protect himself.
I have a feeling this particular episode is going to garner a lot of attention. Normally sexual assault is told, not shown, and you're just expected to feel sympathetic for a character without actually getting to experience their pain. This is the first show to have the balls to show it in such raw detail. Something that a lot of people need to see. Especially in a world that's become so emotionless and cruel, and has taken a habit of blaming its victims. The world needed to see this.
I don't think this will have any movement whatsoever though. There's only a small, very particular audience that this show caters to and most of those people are already like you. They've either gone through it or are familiar with reading/hearing about it.
12:56 in italian is more heartbraking (for me): he don't say " I wish to have something to live for tomorrow" But he just say "I wish this night is the last night"
I don't know why it took me so long to realize but, when you think of abusive relationships like this you'd usually think of a woman being the victim. Angel is a good example of the fact that literally anyone can be abused and hurt, mentally and physically. Angel deserves so much better.
I think when people think of s3xual abuse it's a lot of the time irl 99% committed by a man, towards men and women alike. So I'd say it's exactly what I would expect would happen to a gay sex worker. The abuse is still committed by a man. That's not just a random number btw. Google r@pe statistics of abusers and towards all genders its 99% men. Not all men, but it's almost always A man.
I mean we’ve known since Addict that there were gonna be some unpleasant Angel/Valentino moments in this show… The one silver lining for me in that scene was when Angel said “….just don’t hurt her.” It was nice to have some on screen confirmation of how much he cares about Charlie. And yeah, Husk’s song is wonderful. Honestly forgot how amazing Keith David’s singing is.
I revisit Princess and the Frog's soundtrack a lot so I knew he was good but I didn't expect him to get BETTER. Seriously, he blew me away with how much he did with so little in their song. I'm pretty disappointed that the whole original cast got replaced but I wholeheartedly approve of Keith David as Husk, what a class act.
I know we were made aware of Angel’s abuse in the Addict music video… but this episode really gave more depth to how severely it has affected him. Poor guy deserves better than this… at least he’s made a friend(maybe more than that?) in Husk. Side Note: I’m really hoping that when the next Extermination comes, Valentino is one of the first to be erased by the Exorcists. If anyone in Hell deserves such a fate, it’s him!
OOooooooh interesting proposal! That could also work really well for Angel and give him kind of a new arc, trying to figure out who he really is and what he really likes and just what he wants to be after losing Valentinos ownership of him. Abuse can leave scars that can take decades to heal, if they heal at all.
I'm dying on the hill that I think he should be redeemed in some way. If you're trying to prove that sinners can be redeemed, what better way to do that than to take someone with no visible path to redemption and succeed in redeeming them? If he can be redeemed, any average sinner could. Think of how many serial killers and cannibals and rapists and such exist in this world that you haven't written off as irredeemable. Hell (literally), Angel Dust was born into the fucking mafia, I've seen many suggest Adam will be redeemed and that mf engages in genocides because he finds it fun (not a sinner, but my point still stands)
Something you might not notice but Husk actually waits for Angel to take his hand before grabbing it Whereas Valentino always tried to grab him whether he liked it or not
I wouldn’t say the best, it certainly was alright. They obviously tried their best to get the message through but it comes of slightly different to people who don’t really understand the character.
@@WaltDevil060Problem, storywise, is that the show sort of relies on most people being acquainted with the character, before watching. The creator clearly tried to make a point about all kinds of abuse (showing how people are treated etc and to be thankful not have suffered a similar fate), but looking at the episode from fresh eyes. It sort of makes it look as though Angel has fallen in love with his abuser, but not realising that isn’t supposed to be case. While in other scenes it shows how he hates Valentino for amount of abuse he has done to him. Problem is that it makes people who suffered abuse, look very bad, to outsiders who watch this show for the first time. I can’t really explain anymore right now, considering it requires a lot of thought to phrase it. (Though I’m not trying to hate on the show or anything, I like the show and, Angel’s character considering how realistic his character is, just trying to say is Vivzien (Vivziepop) tried to hit at the right topic, the execution however wasn’t really flawless).
@@Isaac-KarbassioonTrue, but is there any rule against ripping into Val. Like fully tearing him apart with Vaggie's spear? Demons and sinners kill all the time
Something that makes Angel’s situation even worse is that, if you pay enough attention throughout the series including the Pilot, you can get hints and implications that at one point, Angel was in love with Valentino which may have been the reason he sold his soul, which adds a whole other level of pain on top of this
yeah i think at on point h mentions maybe to...husk? that he agreed because Val said it was something permenant a sign o devotion. that's why in poison he looks so sad and breaks down when he sees Val and Vox together.
Idk if I already commented but if not then Imma just do this one: When me and my father watched this episode and heard “ If I end up broken I won’t be his favorite toy anymore “ I took something and threw it and my dad was like “ Expected. Damn that’s rough. “ My dad ain’t on the Huskerdust ship yet ( I am ) but boy oh boy are we on the valentino sucks boat >:)
So the question is as the daughter of Lucifer, does Charlie have the “angelic power” to permanently kill a sinner demon - or would she need angelic steel for that? Because destroying Valentino doesn’t do Anthony any favors if he regenerates still with the soul contract and is now extra pissed off.
I think what's gonna be part of Charlie's growth as the series progresses is accepting that some souls don't deserve to be redeemed or want it like Valentino. To them, hell is probably their heaven and she's gonna have to help develop a system for souls like them as well. Some people will just always be rotten to the core. I also think that she's gonna have to start cutting deals with other demons in order to get souls back if they're gonna have any chance of crossing over since Valentino owns Angel's and Alastor has Huskers
And to add to that I think this is also a lesson Lucifer was in a more roundabout way trying to teach Charlie when he requested she be the one to meet Adam, he wanted her to realize if she really wants this thing to work Charlie has to understand the powers she’s up against and she has to be willing to fight for it Although that’s just my theory, I don’t think we’ll know for sure until the series returns with episode 5
@@DarkKnightofAnime that could be part of it. I just thought he sent Charlie to that meeting cause he didn't want to deal with his wife's obnoxious ex. Friday is around the corner!
Yeah, I will say one of the current issues with Hell, as written in this show, is that the worst sinners seem to acquire the most power, so Hell isn't really a punishment for them. Like, Alastor was a freaking serial killer and Val is an abuser. Should they really be able to wield power over those like Angel Dust, who were just addicts? Why put all the common sinners in the Pride Ring? I do hope the show goes into why that is.
@@DarkKnightofAnime I think he just sent her there because he didn't wanna see Adam, hence why Charlie says "ohhh- that explains so much" when she learns who he is.
Man, that was rough. But I do appreciate how there's nothing glamorous depicted in Angel's world. Charlie means well, but she doesn't fully understand how to read the room. She's still very much naive about the world outside of her privileged vantage point. It makes for a realistic character flaw.
Exactly. Charlie is genuinely trying to help, but she doesn’t realize that she is hurting Angel. He asks her to leave many times and she brushes him off. She can’t see the subtly fear and anxiety he has against Valentino because she has never seen it before. She has a LOT to learn if she wants to help sinners
A tiny positive in this episode is seeing that Angel seems to genuinely care for Charlie. I thought it would take way longer for him to warm up to her. I hope they become good friends eventually.
Angel Dust and Valentino are the exact opposite of Fizzarolli and Asmodeus. While Fizz was practically breaking himself trying to be perfect for Mammon because he thought Ozzy wouldn't want him otherwise, Angel is deliberately trying to be so broken that Val won't want him anymore. I remember on one of the Huniecast podcasts, Vivzie mentioned that Angel's name was Anthony, then a few minutes later checked the Hazbin wiki and saw that it was already updated, but they put Angel's full name as "Anthony Paddle". She didn't remember having ever said anything about his last name, and had no idea where the idea that his last name was Paddle came from.
This episode gave me the hardest emotional whiplash. It has one of the hardest hitting moments as well as one of the most heartwarming in the season so far. And the music SLAMS in all the right ways.
Can we just appreciate how surprised Angel is with how respectful Husk is about his space when they dance together? Like, his expressions when Husk just offers out his hand instead of grabbing at him like everyone else does. I swear, they're so healthy for each other it hurts because knowing Val, he isn't going to let/like it when Angel is in a relationship that doesn't bring him profit.
Right? The way he looked at Husk when they started dancing and he was just holding Angel's hands instead of holding his waist, that's clearly the first time anyone danced with him without any type of sexual interest involved Also, I think it's really cute the fact that Husk is holding all of his four hands
This is what I admire about the show. How they can NOT ONLY write great comfort or relatible characters but also such a terrible villains. Like Valentino isn't that goofy villain but a real piece of shit that you hate with all your being. (Seriously I wanna see him dead) God I love this show!!
This episode has touched so many of us with a history of abuse. And honestly, Loser Baby was such a good song to end with. There’s so much camaraderie in these comments and in similar reaction videos that I have watched. It really does let you know that we aren’t alone. None of us EVER have to be alone.
Fun fact: throughout season one, you can see that the closer husk gets to angel the more his pupils dilate. Whenever cats pupils dilate that’s their way of showing affection and love!❤
What I really like about this episode is how it accurately portrays how complicated it is to be a friend to someone in an abusive situation. It's not as simple as just fighting the abuser, because it'll all just get redirected to the abused. It's essentially a hostage situation. It's also very interesting to see that this episode was where we see the first hints of Angel's true character; even when he's being threatened he still goes out of his way to try to protect Charlie rather than himself "please, just don't hurt her" (even though Charlie is way stronger than Val). Despite his tough guy act, he already cares about her like a big brother (Charlie might even remind him of his sister, Molly, in heaven).
Yeah, Charlie and the others want to help Angel, but now is just not the time. Angel isn't ready. Instead, they stop making as many jokes about his drug and sex addictions.
I like how they did Husker responding to Dust. He is like “I won’t be your f’ck buddy, but I’ll be your drink buddy”. Not all lustful interests work out, but you can gain a new pal from it.
Abuse doesn’t cause waterworks for me, it just grinds my gears. But daaaaamn, when Angel went “Just don’t hurt her” to Valentino, that got me REALLY close to shedding a tear. Angel's gonna be redeemed far faster than I thought if his base instinct is to defend those he cares for.
This episode really affected me with Angels story. I was SOBBING. The way he said he is doing it so he can completely fuck himself up and break himself so he won't be Vals favourite anymore. Goddamn. Also, Poison is a straight bop, but boy is it HEAVY. Husk and Angel Dust are so cute together. I am definitely onboard with their ship. I really want Charlie to fully fuck up Val. We keep seeing hints at her demon form, and I think had Angel not gotten involved, she would've gone full rage mode on Val.
@@Jroobeluciosyeah, exactly. It’s too bad she couldn’t or maybe wouldn’t show her power because of angel. Val is only an overlord. She, Lucifer and Lilith are at the top of the power pyramid. Then the sins, then the Goetia, THEN the overlords. So yeah, he’s way below her.
@@rosesweetcharlotteCharlie has never demonstrated her power so it makes sense Angel thinks Val could hurt her. She’s way too nice which has caused people to have a warped perception of her. I feel like there is going to be a episode where Charlie gos full rage mode and not even Alastor could stop her and Vaggie sings a song to calm her down

So I’ve been obsessed with this show since I watched it myself and have been watching people react to the series for a little bit now and I just want to say that your reaction to this episode specifically stirred me emotionally more than anyone else’s I’ve watched so far. I could feel your pain from watching this. On a similar note, your reactions in general to this series are fantastic!
A small, but impressive thing: We've all heard the whole, "No solution is found at the bottom of a bottle" thing a million times in fiction and real life, but hearing Husk's additional, "I should know, I've been looking there for a long time" is just enough to make the cliche exceptionally strong and more impactful.
Husk coming out with the sharp-as-knife cards and explosive dice was so unexpected. Him going ham in battle was great. We hadn’t seen him in action before, and I LOVE IT.
I’m hoping that he’s retained some of the power he sold his soul for and he has one last overlord level show in him. I’m also hoping Husk isn’t the main cast member that’s supposed to die 😬
“Can we get a slow painful death for Valentino?” You mean like Doom Guy coming in and ripping and tearing him apart until he finally stomps his head clean off his mutilated body?
@@AttemptedVoices I have a few ideas, but then I might be put on a watch list or something. Just know that it would not be quick, and it would be very, very, VERY painful.

No one talking about this? 17:40 Husk:''I was once an overlord'' Elijah:''You were?'' Husk:''Yeah'' Elijah:''What?'' .... Elijah:''Dr.Facilier?!" (I was laughing at that :D) (Btw. I know she meant that Husk has the same SA/VA as Dr.Facilier, Keith David)
One thing that I'm actually worried about after this episode is Valentino's VA Joel Perez. I know we all hate Valentino but I think some are going to take it too far and start hating on him for voicing the character. He's done a fantastic job bringing such a vile character to life and no matter your feelings about the character, you've got to give him props for his excellent work here. Just hope the fans remember to hate the character but love the VA.
It's unfortunate that that needs to even be said. I remember back in my freshman year of college, there was this sort of stage play / PSA thing about sexual assault. In the intermission, the cast took Q&A questions from the audience in character, including the guy playing the rapist. At the end of the production, when they all bowed, they had to make it clear that the guy was just an actor, not a rapist, so please don't harass him.
Let me just say that Joel Perez has been absolutely sublime as Valentino. He's got the range for all of Val's different masks and attitudes that he puts on for different characters. He can be deceptively sweet and condescending one moment, comedically whiny and spoiled in another moment, and then he can scare you goddamn STRAIGHT with abusive venom and cold, quiet and seductive threats. I can't imagine how much fun it must be to play Valentino, and Joel has clearly capitalized on that fun and given us a performance worthy of one of the worst and coldest villains that animation has ever known. Flowers for Joel for his work!
You can't tear up a contract. The only ways to get out of the demon deals is if the owner of the contract willingly releases the signer or if the owner, being Valentino, is killed. Then all contracts are either dissolved or ownership transfers to the one that kills Valentino. Charlie, being the daughter of Lucifer and Lilith, is probably the third strongest being, if not the strongest, in hell and probably could kill Valentino easily if she was to let go of her rage but you know Charlie probably isn't a killer and won't do something like that cuz she's too good. What I think is weird is how far Valentino is willing to cross the line. Like Angel really thought Val would try to hurt Charlie. And I'm just thinking really? Val would hurt Lucifers daughter and think he would get away with it? But I guess he is that stupid by the way Vox had to handle him when he said he was going to attack the hotel knowing how stupid it would be to attack Lucifers daughter.
"The only ways to get out of the demon deals is if the owner of the contract willingly releases the signer or if the owner, being Valentino, is killed. Then all contracts are either dissolved or ownership transfers to the one that kills Valentino." Me, a second after getting to Hell: *Purchases and loads Carmine rifle with lethal intent."
He's been in control in his little bowl for so long he thinks he's hot shit n can take anyone when really all he's done is use n abuse people who are physically weaker than him. Had Charlie went through with her attack, he'd realize he's a loser too
I think we will know more when Lucifer finally appears, but I think the status quo was (at least if I remember the wikia trivia correctly) that Lucifer barley does anything in ruling his ring. He barley gets involved and bc of that it's the overlords who are doing much of what the Princes of Hell are doing in their own rings. And given that we've seen and heard that Valentino isn't the brightest - he might've been just so delusional. And yes, I also do think that Charlie is extremely strong but her personality.... or rather her moral codex is really stopping her at reaching her full potential. It's not like she must change - but not all people are redeemable. And having so much power and not using it is the same as just watching people get hurt without lifting a finger. Charlie is a dreamer, like her father was, but she needs (like her mother apparently) to step up and get herself involved into ruling hell.
@@janicchi There's also the possibility of Valentino's contract being used as a shield as well. If Charlie for example were to just nuke him into oblivion, Valentino's contract might take that as Angel indirectly killing his master in which the latter would perish as well. Though I am basing that on tropes of how Soul Binding Contracts work so it's dependent on how stingy the thing is in this.
When they are bound with ropes , Angel's rope is chaotic and Husk's is neatly wrapped. Maybe pointing to the nature of their respective "owners". Valentino being an emotional in-the-moment type & Alastor being neat/calculating.
And may I take a moment here to say that Elijah gave us the PLATONIC IDEAL of a reaction video. And let's throw in an "emotional support plushie" award to Fat Nuggets while we're at it.
Something I think about is how put-together Husker is in the series compared to the pilot. I know Husker only barely arrived with a bit of insight as to how he operates in the pilot, but I still got the sense he has more control of himself here. But then I got thinking that maybe his time in the Hotel is working for him in different ways. He's in a position that has him looking after the others, even as he holds to his notions that he's not worth saving, he wants to give Angel and the others the chance to be. So he's pulled himself out of the bottle enough to be a guardian to the rest of the group and tell them things straight in the hopes of them sorting themselves out right.
I like that Angel signed the contract with his human name Anthony. This is information that has been known through streams for years, but I think it's cool to see how these little facts find their way into the series.
You know it’s funny, cause I’ve read a couple of fanfics where Angel’s saved from Valentino because in those stories he signed the contract as ‘Angel Dust’ which isn’t his real name and as a result it’s used a loophole to get him out of Valentino’s grip. Sadly, that’s not the case here.
I was originally unsure of Valentino’s voice in ep 2 thinking it was too ridiculous, but holy shit this episode made him not only my most hated villain but one of the scariest. I pray to god that Charlie smites him to triple hell!
I was also unsure of Joel Perez’s performance based on Episode 2. This episode shut me the hell up REAL quick. Joel is absolutely PERFECT in the role. I instantly got shades of Paranoid DJ’s Val voice, which scares the daylights out of me. Blake and Joel gave the best voice acting performances I’ve seen in AGES.
i think the thing is (which i love about the writing and VA in the show) is that episode 2 val is goofy and pathetic and hot tempered, yet in this episode we see the much better known manipulative evil side, in the end abusers dont always show how much of a monster they are, usually only to the victims, when val was complaining about angel he was with the vee's so he acted like he would normally with people hes comfortable with and has equal power to, with angel he shows how he really is because he owns angel and can treat him however horribly he wishes, like angel he also puts on a sort of mask, a dumb pretentious one at that but nevertheless a facade to his true evil nature
Whoever wrote that line for Angel: "Maybe if I'm broken, I wont be his favorite toy anymore" needs either a big bonus or therapy. Probably both but damn that line hurt.
Gotta love how both Adam and Valentino managed to make Charlie _so mad_ she showed her horns! Angel trying to protect her was so heartbreaking, too. But Husk was such a dear heart ❤️
Did anyone else notice that in the dressing room Angel slightly pull up his robe as an instinct. Also after Val slams Angel on the couch you can clearly see Val running one of his hands up Angel. This clearly tells us everything we need to know
As soon as the first few notes of Poison hit, I knew it was going to be soul crushing. I just didn't anticipate this beautifully disturbing visual juxtaposition. I am SO glad Poison was only in the middle of the episode and they could end it with some levity and playfulness. Imagine having to go through a week of waiting right after Poison.
Blake Roman needs to be nominated for so many awards for his amazing performance. The breaking in his voice, every single delivery (esp with scenes with Val) hit like a truck.
Angel thinks he was protecting Charlie from Val. In fact he probably just saved Val from Charlie. As the old saying goes: There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man.
No matter how rude Angel seems in that scene with Charlie and Val, he's just trying to protect her. To preserve her innocence, to keep her calm. These two are 100% siblings
The little moth noises Val makes if you pay attention are at moments where hes the most… unhappy. They are perfect. But outshined by the moments where Angels voice slips back to his “true” voice. Not the voice everyone hears. When hes at his weakest :(

Absolutely. If Charlie went full demon mode, she could wipe the floor with Val and not even break a sweat. But, she also cares for Angel and he is so abused and broken by Val that he truly believes Val could harm her, which is exactly what Val wants him to think. He knew Angel was broken enough to stop Charlie and Charlie is too nice and loving of Angel to do anything that might upset him more.

to make it even better I noticed how when they're dancing, there's always a distance between them. Everyone that Angel interacts with at work gets all the way in his space with no regard for his comfort, so the fact that Husk stays at a respectful distance when they're dancing means Angel can have fun and be comfortable. Idk if that was intentional but I thought it was really wholesome and cute
@DrewColpurs there are different circumstances. Sometimes, it's necessary. I think they meant he doesn't do it unless Angel is in danger
Honestly as an abuse victim, I think the depiction of abuse in this episode was accurate and well done- purely because of how visceral and uncomfortable it makes the audience feel. And it's only a *peek* into Anthony's reality, which speaks volumes about the true depths of abuse like this.

It made me so upset that people were angry that as an abuse victim, Angel is hyper sexual. People were saying that it was inaccurate and offensive yadda yadda. But everyone copes differently.

I mean we’ve known since Addict that there were gonna be some unpleasant Angel/Valentino moments in this show…
The one silver lining for me in that scene was when Angel said “….just don’t hurt her.” It was nice to have some on screen confirmation of how much he cares about Charlie.

Something you might not notice but Husk actually waits for Angel to take his hand before grabbing it
Whereas Valentino always tried to grab him whether he liked it or not

It sort of makes it look as though Angel has fallen in love with his abuser, but not realising that isn’t supposed to be case.
While in other scenes it shows how he hates Valentino for amount of abuse he has done to him.
Problem is that it makes people who suffered abuse, look very bad, to outsiders who watch this show for the first time. I can’t really explain anymore right now, considering it requires a lot of thought to phrase it.

She also needs to accept the souls which do on their own terms.
She says she loves Hell a lot, but she really doesn't seem to understand vice at all.
And to add to that I think this is also a lesson Lucifer was in a more roundabout way trying to teach Charlie when he requested she be the one to meet Adam, he wanted her to realize if she really wants this thing to work Charlie has to understand the powers she’s up against and she has to be willing to fight for it
Although that’s just my theory, I don’t think we’ll know for sure until the series returns with episode 5

The way that charlie's VA says both
"Oooooh no thank you" when Val is licking her
And then the "F#$k Noooool"
Line
Is perfect.
Erika Henningsen should do some more voice acting, she's really killing it.
“Just don’t hurt her.”
Honestly, I don’t think Val could really damage Charlie. That half Angel part of her is probably much more powerful than him.
Yeah but Angel so messed up by Val he prob thinks Val could hurt her
@@Jroobeluciosyeah, exactly. It’s too bad she couldn’t or maybe wouldn’t show her power because of angel. Val is only an overlord. She, Lucifer and Lilith are at the top of the power pyramid. Then the sins, then the Goetia, THEN the overlords. So yeah, he’s way below her.
@@JroobeluciosYeah, he is functionally one of the weaker overlords. Poor Angel is so messed up that he can't see that
Yikes
Agreed but yikes
@@rosesweetcharlotteCharlie has never demonstrated her power so it makes sense Angel thinks Val could hurt her. She’s way too nice which has caused people to have a warped perception of her. They’ve probably never seen Charlie use violence before. Meanwhile everyone knows what Valentino, the overlord, can do.
I just googled how many seasons of hazbin there will be they confirmed 4 seasons so far
I feel like there is going to be a episode where Charlie gos full rage mode and not even Alastor could stop her and Vaggie sings a song to calm her down
Yeah I think so, hope she didn't just destroy half of the city and kill thousands because of it.

I love the idea of Husk and Angel together in either a platonic or romantic way because it would be such a healthy space for Angel to heal with
Edit: Personally, I'm with you; HuskerDust is so cute
Huskerdusk is amazing but he needs a break between relationships
@@TheOneAndOnlyLobster There's not exactly a time limit for the relationship to start, he can take a break as friends with Husk and it build gradually; as I said, I like Husk and Angel together in *either* a platonic *or* romantic way😅
I also pretty sure the ship will be canon if I remember the stuff read by the creator properly
THE FACE YOU MADE AFTER ANGEL SAID 'thanks for caring about me' WAS SO IDENTICAL TO CHARLIES
“Can we get a slow painful death for Valentino?”
You mean like Doom Guy coming in and ripping and tearing him apart until he finally stomps his head clean off his mutilated body?
Yes
EXACTLY THAT! 😁
I don’t even know if that’s punishment enough for him
No. That’s too easy, it has to be the worst of the worst.
@@AttemptedVoices I have a few ideas, but then I might be put on a watch list or something. Just know that it would not be quick, and it would be very, very, VERY painful.
I found you and Morgan and Mosco through ur Hazbin Reacts and I've watched and re-watched them so many times, I genuinely love you guys and Hazbin so much, I've watched the reacts so many times and I just love the way you all wanna jump in and save Angel.

And Joel has nothing but love for Blake.
“I swear if you abuse angel” SHE JINXED IT!!!!

Then all contracts are either dissolved or ownership transfers to the one that kills Valentino."

@@ScorpionViper1001wait, where does it say that?
Anthony died in 1945 during the coke/Crack years. He's one of the oldest living demons besides alastor. And alastor is Lilith's puppet.
You mean in the hotel.

He used to control souls, now he guides them

I like that Angel signed the contract with his human name Anthony. This is information that has been known through streams for years, but I think it's cool to see how these little facts find their way into the series.
You know it’s funny, cause I’ve read a couple of fanfics where Angel’s saved from Valentino because in those stories he signed the contract as ‘Angel Dust’ which isn’t his real name and as a result it’s used a loophole to get him out of Valentino’s grip. Sadly, that’s not the case here.
I think he named himself Angel Dust after a Drug as his permanent Stage name
The way that Charlie was hugging Angel and trying to apologize was so sweet!!! I love her so much!!!
I totally agree, but his moth wings were kinda cool tho.
i think the thing is (which i love about the writing and VA in the show) is that episode 2 val is goofy and pathetic and hot tempered, yet in this episode we see the much better known manipulative evil side, in the end abusers dont always show how much of a monster they are, usually only to the victims, when val was complaining about angel he was with the vee's so he acted like he would normally with people hes comfortable with and has equal power to, with angel he shows how he really is because he owns angel and can treat him however horribly he wishes, like angel he also puts on a sort of mask, a dumb pretentious one at that but nevertheless a facade to his true evil nature
YO IM LITERALLY DRESSED IN A ANGEL DUST COSTUME RN CUZ I LOVE HIM OMG❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Whoever wrote that line for Angel: "Maybe if I'm broken, I wont be his favorite toy anymore" needs either a big bonus or therapy. Probably both but damn that line hurt.
Gotta love how both Adam and Valentino managed to make Charlie _so mad_ she showed her horns! Angel trying to protect her was so heartbreaking, too. But Husk was such a dear heart ❤️

The fact he makes me more sad when they interact with the main character more than Belos is just.
Blake Roman needs to be nominated for so many awards for his amazing performance. The breaking in his voice, every single delivery (esp with scenes with Val) hit like a truck.
The little skip Husk does at 18:50 will always be my favourite part of this episode.
Angel thinks he was protecting Charlie from Val. In fact he probably just saved Val from Charlie. As the old saying goes:
There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man.
Demons run when a good man goes to war. Dr Who
I seen people say it's more so, if Charlie actually attacked Val, Valentino is just going to punish Angel even harder.
It’s the nice ones you have to look out for. Because it takes so much more for them to get angry.
No matter how rude Angel seems in that scene with Charlie and Val, he's just trying to protect her. To preserve her innocence, to keep her calm. These two are 100% siblings
Uhm how Charlie and angel can be siblings do know that Angel have a sister Name Molly. But she's in heaven

The way Husk just throws Angel behind him protectively and without another thought is so wholesome.
The little moth noises Val makes if you pay attention are at moments where hes the most… unhappy. They are perfect. But outshined by the moments where Angels voice slips back to his “true” voice. Not the voice everyone hears. When hes at his weakest :(
