I've completed well over 1000 solo missions since the game released on steam in 2018 and this video brings me right back to my greenbeard days of being just exploring the caves by myself. I'm not sure why I didn't care for the multiplayer until much later on but this video hit me right in the nostalgia for some reason. I don't feel like it's sad, mostly because my solo experience has been nothing but positive and I think that's interesting in it's own right. This community is by far the single best I've ever been a part of and no matter your skill level you'll always be given the tools find people that won't mind and that's awesome. I know greybeards get some bad rep for being grumbly and wanting to be efficient all the time, but there are some like me who still like to play the game like it's their first time delving where no dwarf has gone before. My lobby isn't open to people too often, but I'll always welcome those who rock alone! o7
I'm a greybeard of over 300 missions as scout and less than 10 of the others, and every time I'm able to teach a rando somethimg about the game I feel like that meme of the grizzled veteran showing a new player how to play. It's SO delightful to show greenbeards the ropes; if you suck at the game, I'll carry you, and i'll help you through it.

it's so interesting to hear about solo gunners given how your kit is so effective at team play. like, scout grapple is his and his alone, driller has a C4 issue (though i guess gunner also has grenades but still), and engie, well he's never really as alone as the others.
I think the true sadness of this video, at least to me, is that some people don’t have the courage to play with others. Whether because of social anxiety, perceived lack of skill, or because they just don’t like people. You can have fun by yourself in DRG, and yet, you can have more fun if you trust yourself and a good group of random players. To all who mine alone, there are people like me who want to make the game fun for ya. Consider it, and do what works for you. Rock and Stone!!
@@fishyboy2140 That’s understandable, just know that there are those who are willing to work past those issues. Mining with others is fun no matter the pace. I promise you, there are players out there who love to take it slow and explore the whole cave
I have some 100 hours of solo missions and am just starting to play with random miners. Sometimes they're too fast paced or don't have the same play style (Loot bugs are to be left alone and not shot, stabbed, exploded or hurt in any way!), and sometimes I have connection problems, but I had a lot of fun moments that I wouldn't have had on a solo mission. Join forces, miners, we don't bite! Rock and Stone!

That ending salute with Bosco though😭😭.... I swear when I first got into DRG I played my first hundred hours (or more) by myself, because in every game I've played people are so toxic, so I played on my own to avoid that. I struggle with mental health and social anxiety so any game lobby stresses me out, and if someone gets mad about something, or degrades me, I almost always leave the lobby, even if its midgame because I can't mentally handle any type of confrontation. After following the subreddit, learning more about the community and the Devs, I started playing with a rando's, and goddamn, did the community surprise me. Since then every once in a while I'll get recognized by someone I played with before and it makes me feel accepted. In my 500+ hours since of DRG I've only ever had 2 times that someone was a dick, most of the time everyone was chill, welcoming and willing to help and answer questions without being snarky about it. So experiencing that from this community made me want to pay it forward. I love helping greenbeards with their questions, and learning how to play the game, I want everyone to feel accepted like I was when I started. So now I will go out of my way to help lower level players, whether that be they go down, and I zip to em as scout to revive them, even if it means I go down as well lol, or answering their questions about anything that happens during the mission, or even just giving a simple rock and stone to a newbie, I love helping people out in this game so much, it makes me feel so warm inside. I love this community, I love this game, I love these devs. This community has shown me "that there is some good in this world Mr. Frodo, and its worth fighting for." You all have truly saved my life, No dwarves left behind! Rock and Stone!
Yeah the game is very chill. Very few I encountered were toxic or immature dicks. Even when you encounter such players, remember you came to have fun, not to be anxious if you did great or bad in game. You just ignore them, if they are unbearable then you just leave and find another lobby. Also confrontations can be civil and well mannered. If you happen to fuck up something uknown to you and they point it out without insulting you directly you thank them or say you are sorry, whatever suits you, but this is unlikely to happen since you have many hours into game. But still, these principles can still be applied in other games. Rock and Stone, brother!
Same experience. I was hesitant about opening games to the public as well, but its always worked out great. In hundreds of hours, one bad apple. Maybe two. Its like all the decent people in the world has gone to this one game. Rock and stone to you, and all other beards, no matter the color.
I wont lie, ive experienced toxic DRG players. Once a Gunner who sounded like he had a shitass 9 - 5 and went fucking OFF on another low level gunner so i kicked him. A scout that TK'd me cause he didnt like the way my platform was placed. A whole team who just let me be down and didnt bother to revive me (i iron willed into the drop pod, get fucked) but then i look back and think, shit man, ive been playing since 2018 and i can count the toxic games ive been in with one hand...i think that says a lot about the community DRG fosters. R&S yall

I usually just play with randoms in DRG but I do wish I had people to talk to and play the game with. I just don't feel that comfortable with many people, and constantly talking to new people is draining to me. I think I tend to end up alone a lot whenever I'm gaming and sometimes I'm totally okay with that, but I do have days where I wish I didn't have social anxiety because it can be very lonely. Regardless, this game is amazing and I'm sure its formed many friendships for people. Rock and stone forever!
yea I get what you mean. I don't have social anxiety but talking to people online makes me anxious, and even friending people is a no go for me as I know I can't do online friends, so it saddens me when I have ignore someone's friend request, some of them are people that I've had really fun experiences with, but I know I just can't do online friends, it gets me too anxious, so I normally say my goodbyes with them and hope that I will eventually run into them again. Rock and Stone dwarf! We are in this together!
Well, engaging conversation with some dwarves around made us add each other to steam's friendliest, that's a way to get people to talk to and play the game with, if you ask me.
Just jump into random lobbies. Stop being a loner. You don't solve the issue of "no friends" by continuing to avoid social situations, sorry. You'll make friends quickly by joining randoms. Trust me.
This game is better with friends but solo missions can have a really nice calm atmosphere to them (provided you play on Haz 3 or below, which there's no shame in) and can actually be quite relaxing
i think it can be even higher, i play solo haz5 and it still can turn out to be still chill (whenever i play with others i end up committing a mass genocide untill i face gravity)
To be fair, low haz solo missions are a wonderful vibe once in a while. Taking time to appreciate some of the smaller details that rush by when you're keeping up with friends. Trying out new weapons and overclocks in a more controlled environment. Or just, y'know, spending time with Bosco and Molly. Rock and Stone.

Honestly there's something almost therapeutic about going low and slow, a certain beauty to the depths where you can really just be with yourself and sort things out. It's almost calming
most people are willing to give ya a shot, as a greenbeard I've been really surprised with how fun and nice people have been, its great :D Also come to Jesus he loves you and wants you to get to know him personally. He can help you with your problems, just give them to him, have faith in him that he'll handle it, and move on :)
When I first started playing, I had only a few weeks until my DSL internet service was going to be cancelled (I am very rural). I got through the starter assignment with pals learning at the same time as me, but when I lost the old connection I was stuck with satellite. So pretty much unplayable. Over the next month I tried several different services and hotspots to no avail, all the while going solo driller with Bosco while discord showed my friends that were playing together, seemingly in an entirely different Hoxxes altogether. One time we tried connecting in a lobby, but the poor latency was like trying to talk to a ghost. I finally found out AT&T had reception out where I was, and although their customer service is atrocious, I was able to pair a hotspot with a signal booster to get a good, semi-stable connection. But when I got back on to rock and stone with my pals... They had fallen out of the DRG mood and returned to FUCKING LEAGUE OF LEGENDS. I've been able to occasionally squeeze sessions out of them, but now the play experience is unbalanced. While I still frequently play (albeit with random dwarves online) and love the game and community, I still feel like I was robbed of the entire "new player with friends" learning experience. I've introduced pals from other friend groups to it, but somehow they coincidentally find another game that attracts their attention and I'm left once more, even though they say that they like DRG and would be "down for playing some more". Doesn't happen.
I think this video perfectly reflects the fantasy that DRG provides when playing it alone or with friends. It is definitely a game that I enjoy a lot with friends, you feel much more the sense of adventure, teamwork to obtain special resources and fight hordes of enemies. But sometimes I feel that I need to play it alone too, I like to relax while doing the missions and usually I have everything under control. Everything becomes very calm and gives me time to think about other things like my life, people and some other problems. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it's more like "another day at the office". Rock and Stone brothers!
Bosco, my beloved. Here's the thing, I never actually play "solo". I just never join games, I always host them. And sometimes, no one joins before I'm finished, so Bosco ends up keeping me company a lot.
I used to play online, but once I was kicked right at the end of a mission for nothing, which caused me to spend 130 hours alone in solo missions, because this can happen again.
I'll never forget the time I was playing solo scout and saluted when getting in the drop pod: "Rock and stone, everyone!" And then turned around to look at all the empty seats. Hilariously tragic.
There is a spectacular loneliness to the game, even with Bosco. It might just be due to the music (fantastic choice, btw), but on your own in the caves is… haunting and lonely
Ngl this game gets super peaceful on huge maps on Haz 1. When your not looking to really do much its just... Nice to walk around, mine and admire the world.
Sometimes I host some Hazard 2 or 1 missions just to guide some greenbeards and have a cool time, giving them the chance to get some tips and the courage to face more multi-player missions. Love ya greenbeards! Can't wait to see you guys over level 200
I always take a screenshot every time I end a mission and Bosco looks at me from outside the pod, saluting in return. Pretty much the only social interaction I have these days

I have a group of friends who I play with, so it's not like I don't play co-op at all, but there's something nice about beating a Hazard 4-5 by yourself, like it's more satisfying for some reason.
I used to play solo but switched to multiplayer recently. It’s a lot more fun in my books, even though I think most don’t have the same survivability as me in certain situations. It’s still fun to play with others! Even some of you solo mains think you lack skill or don’t want to inconvenience others, don’t be shy! I love to show green beards the grips of things and walk at a slower group pace with other players. It’s all supportive and fun. And leave no dwarf behind! No matter how often people will fall, I’ll be there to try and revive you. And if we fail the mission, fuck it! Rock and stone anyways! A few beers will cure the ache and the next mission will be slapped twice as hard~
I always play DRG alone. I have tried playing multilayer games before, that always ended with me getting yelled at for doing this or that, that wasn't part of the meta at the time >_< So now I mine alone. It is a peaceful life.
What Haz lobbies were you joining? I mean if you join elite deep dives or double xp haz 5 missions then yeah people would expect meta. But lower than that and I've never seen a single player yell at anyone over a loadout. Maybe you should try again.
@@sid6645 no no. Not DRG. I used to play alot of Overwatch when it was still fun. Unfortunately for me, that was not very fun. I haven't joined any lobbies in DRG yet, as I feel like my skills aren't good enough and I'll get yelled at again. This is indeed, a skil issue.
@@chibbijam54 All online communities have unpleasant people, there is nothing we can do to completely get rid of those. But believe me when I say Deep Rock Galactic is made of another paste. Out of 150+ hours I've played, I have only confronted 2 toxic players that I can think of on hazard 4, and all they did was to provide a harsh comment and leave. I understand that you want to play solo, but if you feel you are ready, give it a try on the difficulty you find most comfortable. Don't forget to give some R&S to your teammates to reinforce positive interactions! Rock and stone!
As far as I am concerned, I got a good internet connection and hosting makes you being the one who can yell at people. You just have to not yell at them and then nobody yells on no one, problem solved ! (if you can host at least...)
I played solo as gunner all the way through three whole promotions. My first time playing multiplayer was also my first deep dive. I wanted to learn as much as I could through my own experience so I couldn’t mess up someone else’s mission. I didn’t touch any of the other classes until one of my friends picked up the game and picked gunner. As a 3 star Diamond promotion gunner main who plays solo 85% of the time, this hits right at the core
Until i got level 23 on driller, i didn't even understand that playing with randoms was possible, and only played together with my best friend... Now i play with randoms like that's a sure thing, because DRG is the most wonderful co-op game. Just don't forget to rock and stone, ping EVERYTHING, say small things in chat, and always play haz 5 lobbies... And despite how absurd that sounds, don't kill the scout. At least try to. But if you do - stand your ground like nothing happened.
Yes officer, I pinged the Nitra vein on the ceiling to warn the others that I was going to Fat boy it. It never ocurred to me that the Scout would try to mine it! ... What's that? The platform I placed? oh no, it was an accident. I didn't know I had my platform gun equipped. It was the Scout's fault for using my platforms like they're his.
Nah if the scout didn't ask if everyone is ready they deserve it. Funnily enougj had a lobby where I was gunner and the scout did this. I told the driller to give them the boom which they had zero hesitation in doing
ive been playing drg for 2 years now, and i did the first 100 lvls only playing gunner and alone, single player, didn't even knew how to play the other classes. Now im almost lvl 600 and about to complete the full promotions for all classes, gunner is already done of course, i remember fondly those first 100 chill lvls, used to play listening to podcast and SCP archives and stuff, but nothing beats multiplayer in this game honestly, if you think you are not good enough you are wrong. I was so surprised when I got the achievement for 100 solo missions and it said that only 2% of players have it. I know multiplayer is the way the game is meant to be played, but I always enjoy immersing myself in the cave with Bosco and Steve.
I live out in the hills and have to use a mobile hotspot, so my ping is always too high to play multiplayer games with my friends... This game is great and I recently got my first promotion as Scout, but I'm sad that I miss out on so much, like how I don't get to chant "Mushroom! We're rich!" to myself because it pings for Bosco instead.
gunner is such an underrated and unappreciated class. my heart aches cause people always forget he exists. i love my gunner. i love my boy who fires 2000 round of depleted uranium. you should love him too. rock and stone

Yeah, same, can barely handle it when playing with others, so solo missions are the only way to play so that I don't teleport into the ground and die occasionally.
I play alone for two main reasons. Because of where I live my internet connection can be unstable sometimes and I don't want it to mess with other people and the second reason is that I like to take my time on games like this. Mining everything I can find and doing everything I can.
I play solo mostly because my kids love to watch me play this game ( they generally sing the Matt Zenk songs nonstop while I do. :) You can't pause a multiplayer match to deal with a sudden "crisis"
If that's me, in my day, I just started playing deep rock galaxy a few days ago, when I wanted to play in a public one, well, let's say that I didn't have a nice experience and that caused me not to want to join again to publish and mostly I got it. I spend alone, sometimes I wish I had a group of friends but because of my stability and anxiety sometimes it doesn't allow me so I say that if you can, try to find someone and take care of that little person a lot, you never know if they will be the only one. Rock and stone my brothers and remember don't leave anyone behind without even trying. And I'm sorry if something is misspelled, it's that my English is somewhat decent and I had to use a translator. There's something so peaceful about going solo, sometimes nice to not have to rely on anyone but yourself, which is fine. If you rock and stone, you're never alone.
My internet became so unbearable that it lag spikes for other players in my lobby, resulting in me playing alone or playing in another dwarf's lobby having to deal with that exact lag spikes.
as a relatively new player who solely mains driller at the moment (i might try others after getting second promotion) and (unless i'm with like one other friend who also plays it) only does solo, this resonates i always salute bosco at the end of a mission, he really is the mvp EDIT: i ended up hosting a online game that got 4 players, two of which were VERY far above me in level, we mostly stayed silent but it went pretty well. :)
Let me tell you this: give the other classes a shot. It may seem a bit sucky to play the game and unlock stuff all over again but it’s so worth it in the end to have so many, seemingly unlimited play styles with all classes. Especially since some missions and maps clearly fit certain classes better than others

No matter if I'm joining randos, or greybeards getting on our griefing lobby, it's always fun and games Not even dumb plays can make people toxic. We just go for another run. I nearly had the achievement for playing solo 100 missions before I started to play with other people. The game was so much more enjoyable once I swapped over though!
I get lost extremely easily when im with others because they finish tasks i was set out to do and then get all turned around,i dont wanna be "that guy" with 30 seconds until pod leaves at the bottom of a cave absolutely lost or trynna mine my way out
im worse off, i have done 300 solo mission with scout, rewiring splash drak is the leadstorm equivalent for scout so honestly? i feel the solo gunners out there, rock and stone.
It's always fun to play in a team, but sometimes you just wanna go in alone and take things at your own pace, in your own way. It's actually very relaxing to do this on lower difficulties sometimes. Just remember your fellow dwarves are there to back you up when you want to return to company or feel the need for some ACTION.
As someone who rocks alone nowadays, this brings a tear to my eye... It certainly is a different experience, feels a bit nostalgic even. Don't get me wrong, Bosco really is the best buddy, it's just that... last dwarf in the pod pays for the first round hahah... 😅

I struggle with mental health and social anxiety so any game lobby stresses me out, and if someone gets mad about something, or degrades me, I almost always leave the lobby, even if its midgame because I can't mentally handle any type of confrontation. After following the subreddit, learning more about the community and the Devs, I started playing with a rando's, and goddamn, did the community surprise me. Since then every once in a while I'll get recognized by someone I played with before and it makes me feel accepted.
In my 500+ hours since of DRG I've only ever had 2 times that someone was a dick, most of the time everyone was chill, welcoming and willing to help and answer questions without being snarky about it. So experiencing that from this community made me want to pay it forward. I love helping greenbeards with their questions, and learning how to play the game, I want everyone to feel accepted like I was when I started. So now I will go out of my way to help lower level players, whether that be they go down, and I zip to em as scout to revive them, even if it means I go down as well lol, or answering their questions about anything that happens during the mission, or even just giving a simple rock and stone to a newbie, I love helping people out in this game so much, it makes me feel so warm inside.
I love this community, I love this game, I love these devs.

Yeah the game is very chill. Very few I encountered were toxic or immature dicks. Even when you encounter such players, remember you came to have fun, not to be anxious if you did great or bad in game. You just ignore them, if they are unbearable then you just leave and find another lobby. Also confrontations can be civil and well mannered. If you happen to fuck up something uknown to you and they point it out without insulting you directly you thank them or say you are sorry, whatever suits you, but this is unlikely to happen since you have many hours into game. But still, these principles can still be applied in other games. Rock and Stone, brother!
Same experience. I was hesitant about opening games to the public as well, but its always worked out great. In hundreds of hours, one bad apple. Maybe two. Its like all the decent people in the world has gone to this one game. Rock and stone to you, and all other beards, no matter the color.
I wont lie, ive experienced toxic DRG players. Once a Gunner who sounded like he had a shitass 9 - 5 and went fucking OFF on another low level gunner so i kicked him. A scout that TK'd me cause he didnt like the way my platform was placed. A whole team who just let me be down and didnt bother to revive me (i iron willed into the drop pod, get fucked) but then i look back and think, shit man, ive been playing since 2018 and i can count the toxic games ive been in with one hand...i think that says a lot about the community DRG fosters. R&S yall

I usually just play with randoms in DRG but I do wish I had people to talk to and play the game with. I just don't feel that comfortable with many people, and constantly talking to new people is draining to me. I think I tend to end up alone a lot whenever I'm gaming and sometimes I'm totally okay with that, but I do have days where I wish I didn't have social anxiety because it can be very lonely. Regardless, this game is amazing and I'm sure its formed many friendships for people. Rock and stone forever!

yea I get what you mean. I don't have social anxiety but talking to people online makes me anxious, and even friending people is a no go for me as I know I can't do online friends, so it saddens me when I have ignore someone's friend request, some of them are people that I've had really fun experiences with, but I know I just can't do online friends, it gets me too anxious, so I normally say my goodbyes with them and hope that I will eventually run into them again. Rock and Stone dwarf! We are in this together!
Well, engaging conversation with some dwarves around made us add each other to steam's friendliest, that's a way to get people to talk to and play the game with, if you ask me.
Just jump into random lobbies. Stop being a loner. You don't solve the issue of "no friends" by continuing to avoid social situations, sorry. You'll make friends quickly by joining randoms. Trust me.

This game is better with friends but solo missions can have a really nice calm atmosphere to them (provided you play on Haz 3 or below, which there's no shame in) and can actually be quite relaxing
i think it can be even higher, i play solo haz5 and it still can turn out to be still chill (whenever i play with others i end up committing a mass genocide untill i face gravity)
Same for me, but when i play Haz4-5 and hear the phrase: "Swarm! It's a big one team" i just develop some extreme panic attack

When I first started playing, I had only a few weeks until my DSL internet service was going to be cancelled (I am very rural). I got through the starter assignment with pals learning at the same time as me, but when I lost the old connection I was stuck with satellite. So pretty much unplayable.
Over the next month I tried several different services and hotspots to no avail, all the while going solo driller with Bosco while discord showed my friends that were playing together, seemingly in an entirely different Hoxxes altogether. One time we tried connecting in a lobby, but the poor latency was like trying to talk to a ghost.
I finally found out AT&T had reception out where I was, and although their customer service is atrocious, I was able to pair a hotspot with a signal booster to get a good, semi-stable connection. But when I got back on to rock and stone with my pals...
They had fallen out of the DRG mood and returned to FUCKING LEAGUE OF LEGENDS.
I've been able to occasionally squeeze sessions out of them, but now the play experience is unbalanced. While I still frequently play (albeit with random dwarves online) and love the game and community, I still feel like I was robbed of the entire "new player with friends" learning experience.
I've introduced pals from other friend groups to it, but somehow they coincidentally find another game that attracts their attention and I'm left once more, even though they say that they like DRG and would be "down for playing some more". Doesn't happen.

I think this video perfectly reflects the fantasy that DRG provides when playing it alone or with friends.
It is definitely a game that I enjoy a lot with friends, you feel much more the sense of adventure, teamwork to obtain special resources and fight hordes of enemies.
But sometimes I feel that I need to play it alone too, I like to relax while doing the missions and usually I have everything under control. Everything becomes very calm and gives me time to think about other things like my life, people and some other problems. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it's more like "another day at the office".

Here's the thing, I never actually play "solo". I just never join games, I always host them. And sometimes, no one joins before I'm finished, so Bosco ends up keeping me company a lot.
I used to play online, but once I was kicked right at the end of a mission for nothing, which caused me to spend 130 hours alone in solo missions, because this can happen again.
I'll never forget the time I was playing solo scout and saluted when getting in the drop pod:
"Rock and stone, everyone!"
And then turned around to look at all the empty seats. Hilariously tragic.

There is a spectacular loneliness to the game, even with Bosco. It might just be due to the music (fantastic choice, btw), but on your own in the caves is… haunting and lonely

Sometimes I host some Hazard 2 or 1 missions just to guide some greenbeards and have a cool time, giving them the chance to get some tips and the courage to face more multi-player missions.

I have a group of friends who I play with, so it's not like I don't play co-op at all, but there's something nice about beating a Hazard 4-5 by yourself, like it's more satisfying for some reason.

I used to play solo but switched to multiplayer recently.
It’s a lot more fun in my books, even though I think most don’t have the same survivability as me in certain situations.
It’s still fun to play with others! Even some of you solo mains think you lack skill or don’t want to inconvenience others, don’t be shy! I love to show green beards the grips of things and walk at a slower group pace with other players. It’s all supportive and fun.
And leave no dwarf behind! No matter how often people will fall, I’ll be there to try and revive you. And if we fail the mission, fuck it! Rock and stone anyways! A few beers will cure the ache and the next mission will be slapped twice as hard~

I have tried playing multilayer games before, that always ended with me getting yelled at for doing this or that, that wasn't part of the meta at the time >_<
So now I mine alone.

What Haz lobbies were you joining? I mean if you join elite deep dives or double xp haz 5 missions then yeah people would expect meta. But lower than that and I've never seen a single player yell at anyone over a loadout. Maybe you should try again.
@@sid6645 no no. Not DRG. I used to play alot of Overwatch when it was still fun. Unfortunately for me, that was not very fun. I haven't joined any lobbies in DRG yet, as I feel like my skills aren't good enough and I'll get yelled at again. This is indeed, a skil issue.
@@chibbijam54 All online communities have unpleasant people, there is nothing we can do to completely get rid of those. But believe me when I say Deep Rock Galactic is made of another paste. Out of 150+ hours I've played, I have only confronted 2 toxic players that I can think of on hazard 4, and all they did was to provide a harsh comment and leave.
I understand that you want to play solo, but if you feel you are ready, give it a try on the difficulty you find most comfortable. Don't forget to give some R&S to your teammates to reinforce positive interactions!

As far as I am concerned, I got a good internet connection and hosting makes you being the one who can yell at people. You just have to not yell at them and then nobody yells on no one, problem solved ! (if you can host at least...)

I played solo as gunner all the way through three whole promotions.
My first time playing multiplayer was also my first deep dive.
I wanted to learn as much as I could through my own experience so I couldn’t mess up someone else’s mission.
I didn’t touch any of the other classes until one of my friends picked up the game and picked gunner.
As a 3 star Diamond promotion gunner main who plays solo 85% of the time, this hits right at the core
Until i got level 23 on driller, i didn't even understand that playing with randoms was possible, and only played together with my best friend...
Now i play with randoms like that's a sure thing, because DRG is the most wonderful co-op game. Just don't forget to rock and stone, ping EVERYTHING, say small things in chat, and always play haz 5 lobbies...
And despite how absurd that sounds, don't kill the scout. At least try to. But if you do - stand your ground like nothing happened.

Yes officer, I pinged the Nitra vein on the ceiling to warn the others that I was going to Fat boy it. It never ocurred to me that the Scout would try to mine it!
... What's that? The platform I placed? oh no, it was an accident. I didn't know I had my platform gun equipped. It was the Scout's fault for using my platforms like they're his.
Nah if the scout didn't ask if everyone is ready they deserve it. Funnily enougj had a lobby where I was gunner and the scout did this. I told the driller to give them the boom which they had zero hesitation in doing

ive been playing drg for 2 years now, and i did the first 100 lvls only playing gunner and alone, single player, didn't even knew how to play the other classes. Now im almost lvl 600 and about to complete the full promotions for all classes, gunner is already done of course, i remember fondly those first 100 chill lvls, used to play listening to podcast and SCP archives and stuff, but nothing beats multiplayer in this game honestly, if you think you are not good enough you are wrong. Rock & Stone forever!
I was so surprised when I got the achievement for 100 solo missions and it said that only 2% of players have it. I know multiplayer is the way the game is meant to be played, but I always enjoy immersing myself in the cave with Bosco and Steve.

I live out in the hills and have to use a mobile hotspot, so my ping is always too high to play multiplayer games with my friends... This game is great and I recently got my first promotion as Scout, but I'm sad that I miss out on so much, like how I don't get to chant "Mushroom! We're rich!" to myself because it pings for Bosco instead.
I may be a solo Engineer player, but thanks to Bosco and my turrets I’ll never be alone.

gunner is such an underrated and unappreciated class. my heart aches cause people always forget he exists. i love my gunner. i love my boy who fires 2000 round of depleted uranium. you should love him too. rock and stone
DRG is the only game where I can comfortably boot up a multiplayer round, because I am certain that no matter what happens, you can count on the community to be a large squad of homies regardless of how much or little gets said in any form of chat, or if the ping tool is the dominating for of communication

I play alone for two main reasons. Because of where I live my internet connection can be unstable sometimes and I don't want it to mess with other people and the second reason is that I like to take my time on games like this. Mining everything I can find and doing everything I can.
I play solo mostly because my kids love to watch me play this game ( they generally sing the Matt Zenk songs nonstop while I do. :) You can't pause a multiplayer match to deal with a sudden "crisis"
If that's me, in my day, I just started playing deep rock galaxy a few days ago, when I wanted to play in a public one, well, let's say that I didn't have a nice experience and that caused me not to want to join again to publish and mostly I got it. I spend alone, sometimes I wish I had a group of friends but because of my stability and anxiety sometimes it doesn't allow me so I say that if you can, try to find someone and take care of that little person a lot, you never know if they will be the only one.

My internet became so unbearable that it lag spikes for other players in my lobby, resulting in me playing alone or playing in another dwarf's lobby having to deal with that exact lag spikes.

EDIT: i ended up hosting a online game that got 4 players, two of which were VERY far above me in level, we mostly stayed silent but it went pretty well. :)
Let me tell you this: give the other classes a shot. It may seem a bit sucky to play the game and unlock stuff all over again but it’s so worth it in the end to have so many, seemingly unlimited play styles with all classes. Especially since some missions and maps clearly fit certain classes better than others

As a person who is trying to get the platinum I know that I'm gonna have to get that achievement and I'm not going to like it
I get lost extremely easily when im with others because they finish tasks i was set out to do and then get all turned around,i dont wanna be "that guy" with 30 seconds until pod leaves at the bottom of a cave absolutely lost or trynna mine my way out
im worse off, i have done 300 solo mission with scout, rewiring splash drak is the leadstorm equivalent for scout so honestly? i feel the solo gunners out there, rock and stone.

It's always fun to play in a team, but sometimes you just wanna go in alone and take things at your own pace, in your own way. It's actually very relaxing to do this on lower difficulties sometimes. Just remember your fellow dwarves are there to back you up when you want to return to company or feel the need for some ACTION.
As someone who rocks alone nowadays, this brings a tear to my eye...
It certainly is a different experience, feels a bit nostalgic even.
