When the last time you’ve seen racing industry really beyond expectations like giving all racers(underdog) a chance to win with poor performing bikes? I know they’re all great racer but if they racing in the era of 90’s or 00’s the chance to win is likely bigger than present motogp. Now is just honda honda honda, y’all always talked about marc like he is the GOAT, when stoner wins championship with 2 different factory with a broken stomach. And lets be honest here, who will challenge young, fastest bike (respectively), super talented like marc on this modern era? No one. Except quartaro, vinales, rins get more horsepower on their bikes 😂
I don't think you can apply your theory for 125 CC category. Everyone had equal Bikes I guess.

I believe his last Motogp race was on a ducati pramac circa 2006-2007, he actually came into the pits saying he "wasn't motivated to ride anymore and play the backmarker role", was fired on the spot lol.
Gibernau reminds me Dovizioso : they became winners in Motogp at 30 years old and they sometimes beated Rossi in his era and Marquez in his era
Dovizioso has one world tittle, Gibernau not. Gibernau only wins 9 races, Dovizioso 23

that was my favorite move on the track, your opponent goes inside for the apex, you go outside and square it off, usually worked.
Look at that grid. And some people say that in this era Rossi didnt have good rivals
Amazing race craft at display, Gibernau used defensive lines all race long, Rossi hunted him down on final lap but got outsmarted on the final lap trying a defensive line, but Gibernau knew he was going to do that so he uses the best line for the corner exit

Unless I'm mistaken, I think a few of the bikes in this race were 500cc 2-strokes.
The Proton KR machines were two-strokes. McWilliams and Aoki, I believe. Plus David de Gea on a very privateer bike.

that Aprilia RScube was a unique project. really sad it didn't went as planned. 3 cylinders trident. that bike was a Eargasm on wheels. the line was nice too.
another funny thing is that despite the V5 Honda winning a lot, nobody took that road engine designwise to try to compete. i really don't know why because now it's V4 or ST4 for everybody! maybe the complexity of it on paper discouraged many. but that engine was reliable so.... weird ending for that engine.
