I’m also surprised no mention of Paul Radisich, in a Mondeo , where in 1995 only competing in half a season came 3rd. The only mention was that he gave his car up to Mansel to drive after Mansel had a few smashes learning to drive it.
You are right. That Mondeo was quick around corners. Interesting season 1995.
Sierras, let alone Cossies ,were every young mans dream in Finland.
Brilliant documentary for an American like me who wishes to witness a BTTC race one day!
BTCC is real elbows out foot to the floor paint swapping racing. Next to karting, it's the best racing there is.
@@gtr2racingsim656 I feel this way about WRX, but both are extremely entertaining and big brained
Ah Vic Lee started life off as a salesman for Whitehouse VW at Bexley,Kent. He took me for a test drive in an Audi UR Quattro down the A2 and we went round the roundabout at the Bexley turnoff at a speed that I would not have believed if I had not been in the car at the time (greater than the National speed limit...!!).He later took the lease on a unit on the Springhead Enterprise park next to where I was with the Andrews Sykes company and now and then he used the estate for " unofficial " testing.RS 200 amongst others. He was using Oxygen gas bottles with removeable bottom sections for the transportation of Columbias main export.. what a waste of talent. He was pretty handy behind the wheel of a Golf as well.
John Cleland, was the driver I followed.
That day Matt won at Donnington lives in my mind rent free forever, I knew he'd do it one day and it hooked me forever!
I'm surprised they didn't mention Gerry Marshall at all and he was one of the most famous BTCC drivers of all time!!!
Never heard of him, must be a bad driver

@@RaphaelTheSirionThat was Jerry Mahoney at that time stamp you have quoted, in his sierra rs500 😂 ( you can even see his name written on the dashboard at 51.43)
They came to Sonoma California (where I happen to have a fabrication shop) I did some work for a few of the teams, the last year they were here I got a wheel and tire from one of the Chevy teams that I still have to this day as a cherished souvenir!
The World Touring Car Championship is the one that went to Sonoma. I went both years!
Thank you for uploading all 3 parts of this incredible documentary into 1 video, the British Touring Car Championship is still the best motorsport series on television, can’t wait for the 2021 season to start very soon 🏁🙂
You're welcome.
I would upload the actual races but that would earn me too many copyright strikes.
Round 1 at Thruxton was a welcome back.
Race 1 : First day back antics
Race 2 : Andy Neate strikes again
Race 3 : Wet tyres on dry track, dry tyres on wet track
If you're not in the UK or can't access ITVPlayer, then Auto Sport v2 channel uploads race weekend videos, and they can be found on Dailymotion..
@@gtr2racingsim656 ok cool, no need to upload races as I always watch them live on ITV4, I just wish this 3 part documentary will get a dvd release some day 🏁
Thank goodness I lived the glory years...stick a fork in the boring crap since 2005, hair gel and social media being more important than the racing for the drivers today....ugh...zzzzz
Indeed 👍
Steve Soper. Funny name. In Norwegian that means stiff homosexual.
Great old footage of brands with the big old galaxies and lotus cortinas thanks for uploading
What about Gerry Marshall??? He was the man in BTCC for years!
Tim harvey's little smirk over smoothly get through that drama for the win just tells you how legendary it was lmao
смотрело больше гораздо челевек если би єти все спортивние канали не били запаролени поспутнику в европпе в восточной европе даже подписку прижелании не купиш, гонка классная номашини люто уродливие
Murray Walker = Legend.
I can tell you where I was when jfk was taken from the world; my Mum And Dad were combining bodily fluids in Dortmund Army Married Quarters, One room with a curtain deviding off the bed, with 1 year Bro Stevee.... how cool is that?
The British Touring Cars. Great series. So many great talents, Thrilling racing. Go Ashley Sutton !! Much love from America
It did end up to be too much like dodgem cars sadly, if a driver could not get past they just bumped into it to knock it off. Got a bit boring then tbh You can have close exciting racing without that sort of behavior
One of the hardest racing car driver Champship in the world
Losing the mandatory pit stops ruined Touring cars for me... It took strategy out of it and now if you qualify well youre probably going to get a podium in both the first 2 races and the whole reverse grid system is a joke. It didnt help when it became a hot hatch championship either...
My memory is that the judge at Tom Walkinshaws bankruptcy hearing was pretty scathing about his business ethics.
Super Stevie Soper!!!!Legend
Neat video but a glaring omission failing to mention Chris Hodgetts who won the championship in an Toyota Corolla in 1986 and 1987
I never knew the history of the Galaxy in British Touring Car Racing and did not understand when I saw it at the GoodWood ,meets. But now I know!
Exactly the sort of vehicle and video I like. Thanks!

Tom a was cheat..
The V12 Jaguar had an oversized fuel tank with an inflatable basketball to fool the regulators.
a great, competitive series!
Another superbly informative video guys, learning so much, thank you..🙏🏻
More interested in the classic 'regular' cars than the open wheeled F1 cars...
I can't believe they didn't mention me in this fine documentary. Oh well, i guess there were better drivers than myself in those days. Love to you all out there smelling of WD40.
The sound of those touring cars, even v8's can't beat that
Yes why no Gerry Marshall, a real character!
There's a very good reason but out of respect for his family it is not widely known.
Guy is special and rotary engines just brilliant, the faster they rev - the harder they pull…..it’s like a warp drive effect compared to piston engines which smack with force early and go slower the further they stretch their legs…
Congratulations max loved watching the series can’t wait to see more landrover videos and the adventures you get up to in Kermit

Great find on TH-cam as I have got no access to ITV.
I think you might need a bigger tool box Paul 😮❤
This was absolutely fantastic! Thank you!
Bloody love your videos, can’t wait until Sunday
RE Performance bought me here wt
I don't know Soper or Cleland, but watching this sure looks like Soper had one thing on his mind, and that was to take out Cleland. It's the sort of thing that could make fans turn their back on the series. When points are close and a teammate does this sort of thing the teammate or teammates should suffer the same. So if Soper ends up finishing last his teammates should set one place ahead, the person that gets taken out should keep his position. Then that sort of bs would suddenly stop.
Then it comes to Matt Neil.....he has no room to complain about anyone now does he. Neil should be wining a blue ribbon for being the biggest pig in the slop.
25:05:04 They did and it was a great interview with them both

What a documentary this is
50:30 interesting insight
Can you buy this in Australia because I really like this Dvd
Why buy it as a DVD when you just watched it on youtube?
Will it still be available on TH-cam in a 100 years time ?
If you download the video from one of many youtube-mp4 sites it will be
Are you from Australia as well ?
Yeah
49:00 - even if its true, and I'm sure in some cases (like Harvey Obv) it was true, it's crazy to admit that in private. To put it on a nationally broadcast show is moronic. Even worse is the example it sets to kids. I hate drink driving.
Also on the subject of Harvey. He talks of the wreck between Cleland and Soper as what both defined and tarnished his championship. That's weird, I would've thought you're boss getting nailed for importing class a's and them trying to shut the team down before the end of the season as being more tarnishing ;)
Thanks for the upload.
"I would've thought you're boss getting nailed for importing class a's and them trying to shut the team down" This is true. Same happened to Paul Newman who bought out Sisley racing, he got banged up for smuggling drugs. (not sure it was class a's though).
The drinking thing... different age. Back in the day Hawthorn, Moss, Hunt, all used to have pint before they jumped in the car.
But i know what you mean, times have changed, probably best for Harvey to keep that quiet. Next thing ITV 'cancel' him and Toby Moody does the commentary again.
That’s how it was back then, times were much better.
Also they raced on a closed course, there are no cops around.
If I set up a race on my private property, all the drivers can be completely hammered, it doesn’t matter.
As long as nobody leaves my property we can have as much alcohol as we want and then drive around.
You also still can have a beer before driving, it won’t bring you over the legal limit.
I grew up on motocross tracks, they all are on private property.
After races and events it was completely normal to get drunk and have jump and trick contests in the middle of the the night.
@@rolux4853Also I've rode motocross since the early 90's and have never seen riders get drunk after a event to get on their bikes to do any kind of competition. The organisers would ban before you have time to even think about doing it again.
Maybe it's different here in the UK.
Wannabe NASCAR
Who would ever want to be NASCAR? lol
who would want to be nascar i dont think many people consider nascar as racing
Ladies and gentlemen, the American has been found.
Respect for NASCAR but ffs no. This is a series that stands alone!
NASCAR blows dead goats. That is all.
