  • 手際めちゃくちゃですんませんでした!大勢の日本人の方から叱られてます。目下勉強中です。。。
    So this is Typical Japanese Breakfast. I'd say it's very simple. About natto, you just gatta try and see how you like it (→__→)hehe How do you guys like our traditional breakfast? Is it complicated? simple enough? or disgucting? I don't usually eat natto myself, but sometimes I get so hungry for it! I don't know why...Maybe it's just because I'm Japanese? Do not even kiss your gf/bf after you had natto. It'd be worse than garlic! Oh I've heard Swiss? or Sweden, they have really stinky canned fish food as well. I wonder how stinky it is...
    Ingredients I used for asari miso soup (serving 2)
    : 300g asari (short necked clams)
    : 1 tsp sake
    : 3 tbsp miso
    Ingredients for dashi stock
    : 3 US cup water(700 - 800ml)
    : Konbu kelp
    : 10g bonito flakes
    Other ingredients in this video
    : Rice
    : Egg
    : Natto

      When I went to Japan to visit friends, they gave me natto and I thought it was delicious, I may have been addicted. If I had been told what it was I think my relationship with the stringy stuff would have gone very differently... XD

      It's soo good and really just has a aged sort of cheese flavor to me... if you've ever eat Boiled Okra,, it's sort of the same texture slime wise.. we love Okra so Natto is just delish to us... you may try rinsing the slime off first in a sieve to try to just get the flavor from the beans... then season with packs that come with the Natto itsself...😋👌

      +Jo eliten Traditional Japanese usually get up so early in the morning (like 2 hours before work/school) to cook for themselves/family members a satisfying breakfast, plus bento for lunch. However, this is no longer commonly practiced by the young ages as they tend to get up later, and lazy enough to get fast food for breakfast.

      +Jo eliten I use dashi - instead of boiling it from bonito flakes.. Preparing asari can be done over night. So I can make this in less than 5 minutes.. Most rice cooker has timer so that it finish cooking when you are about to eat breakfast.

      myinnersmurf if that's what you call getting up on time then you need to get up earlier to make a decent breakfast. It's the most important meal of the day, you have just fasted around 8 hours while you sleep and most likely you last ate several hours before you went to bed.

    I am from Malaysia, Malaysia is a multi-culture country; we are forms by three main ethnic group- Malay , Chinese , and Indian. We are all fine living together, and respect our culture differences.
    Malays typical breakfasts are like Nasi Lemak(coconut milk rice), curry puff , kuih-muih(cakes)
    Chinese typical breakfasts are like zhu Chang fen, noodle soup(pork or beef,even fish but costly) , Dian xin,
    Indian typical breakfasts I always only remember their roti canai . Very delicious , and you should try if you have come to Malaysia! =)

    actually i had to do a lot of reading on Natto which helped me to see it a source of vitamin k2 which is extremely valuable.
    the thought about sliminess is a cultural perception.....but good health is more important.....thank you japan for inventing the Natto ....actually many don't know how hard it is to produce the particular bacteria that cause the stickiness but when you know you will change the way you look at it.

    日本人の友達を日本に会いに行って、そういう友達と一緒に朝ごはんを食べることになりました。初めて納豆を見た時、確かに「えぇ!?なんだこれ!?怖すぎー!そんなに臭いんじゃ、無理!」と思ったけど・・・ 友達に「好きじゃないと言う前、食べてみてくれない?」と言われてから挙句に食べました。
    食べてみた後、本当に臭くても思ったより美味しいー!って感じになっちゃいました。
    ところが、臭みは全然いけないので、今でもあまり納豆を食べません。あいにく、やっぱり辛すぎるんです ^^;;

    Are Japanese eggs different from North American eggs? If I were to eat a raw egg, I would be concerned about contracting salmonella. Are they treated with a special process? sorry if I sound dumb.

    • @JunpakuKarasu
      @JunpakuKarasu 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've heard they're cleaner, but I don't know what processes they use... I was also advised that, in America, the safest bet is to look for a brand of egg that's pasteurized in shell.

    • @DogFlamingoXIII
      @DogFlamingoXIII 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The contamination from American eggs (I have no idea what they're like in other countries) comes from unhealthy chicken processing plants, where we get most of our eggs. The facilities are cruel and unsanitary and produce a contaminated result. Eating eggs from pastured chickens, especially those that are fed healthy food and not treated with antibiotics and hormones produce eggs that are not only safe but healthier and more nutritious to eat.
      I have a psychological aversion though, so I'd never eat it raw anyway.

  • @McJaews

    Weekdays: Either no breakfast, or cereal with cold milk.
    Weekends: White bread (buns, rolls) heated in the oven or toasted, with butter, cheese, salami, jam, nutella. For drinks, either a glass of milk, orange juice, apple juice or simply water.
    Special breakfast: Fried eggs, fried sausages, baked beans, buttered toast, and sliced cheese. Can be eaten separately, or stacked as an awesome breakfast sandwich!
    I've never had fish, shellfish, soup, rice, or raw egg as breakfast. But It's definitely worth a try sometime:) I have however decided that I don't like natto. Simply from the description and look of it:P I can't stand powerful smells from food, if they are cheese-like or rancid.

    So what do they do to eggs in Japan to make them safe to eat raw. Just wondering because I'm in America and we are told to not eat raw eggs

    • @sunshineLEMONAID
      @sunshineLEMONAID 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Sophie Sims I believe their eggs are heat treated, so there's a less than 1% chance of them having salmonella in them.
      American eggs are as well, but due to the fact that we store them cold and wash them, a lot of their protection is removed, so American eggs are not safe to eat raw. I know the UK stores them room temperature and their hens have been salmonella vaccinated.

    • @darthvadorskates
      @darthvadorskates 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Sophie Sims - I eat raw eggs and I live in here in the U.S. - Generally, speaking raw eggs are the healthiest way to eat eggs because you don't destroy the vitamin and mineral content which occurs when subjecting your food to heat. All raw foods, excluding meat, are best when consumed raw... this includes eggs as well. Try to buy organic when you can, but most importantly, just make sure it's fresh. In the case of eggs, once they're cracked consume them... If they sit for a long time, say over an hour, then you allow the chance for bacteria formation to occur, meaning you should cook the egg at that point, or risk feeling sick afterwards lol - just for reference, I eat "Egglands" organic eggs raw, and have done so for several years.... haven't been sick yet =)

    You got yourself a new subscriber! In Brazil we vary a lot in breakfast, but I always eat some fruit (banana and/or papaya), bread w/ butter, ham and cheese OR roots (yam, cassava, sweet potato), maybe an omelette, and I always drink coffee (with or without milk).
    The Japanese breakfast looks sooo good! For me the tamago-natto-gohan doesn't look disgusting, as it resembles the typical lunch in my country (Brazil) :D rice and bean stew, I mix it all together but some people don't. We also don't usually eat raw eggs like that, but I have no problem doing so (I always eat the remaining raw dough or cake mix when cooking, so...). I'll definitely try this at home, but I don't think I'll find natto around here :(

    I usually rock a fried egg on toast or ill cut a hole in the slice of bread and drop the egg inside and fry it for simplicity. topping usually comprises of slices of raw onion, garlic pepper sauce and maybe cheese. Much more healthy then going to a fastfood joint and much more affordable.

      In my house, we call the sliced bread with egg in it a birds nest. Actually ,now that I'm thinking about it, it sounds somewhat sadistic.

    Loving your video!! In Venezuela we usually have Arepas which is some kind of bread made of corn starch and filled with almost anything! Ham, cheese, meat, chicken, egg, avocado, tuna, beans (not all together, of course) or Cachitos (some kind of croissant filled with ham) and Empanadas, that are like fried moon shaped arepas filled with stuff like the ones above.

    In Britain, our most famous breakfast is called: A full English. It consists of Sausages, Bacon, A fried egg or scrambled egg, Baked beans, Mushroom (Large), Tomato (Sometimes), hash browns and Black pudding (Which is animal offal cooked together. Sounds awful, but is really nice.) personally, i don't like to eat it because I find it too strong and sickly first thing in the morning, but other Brits love it! =P

    the raw egg was a surprise, I thought you had it boiled or something. I don't have anything against eating raw egg in general, but do you know that you can get salmonella from eating it? It is a real danger that was not present 20 years ago maybe, but it is now.

    • @yuzucampo

      eggs in japan are very safe to eat raw. Im not exactly sure why but eggs are for the most part 100% organic in japan. If you compare the yellow yolk in america with the orange yolk in japan, you'll know why. Its just fresher!

    Thank you for sharing! I have exposed my N. American friends to rice w/ raw egg and furikake, and natto. Usually they are afraid of eating raw egg and warn me to cook it, and the brave are willing to try natto...once! That's fine. More for me! Actually, it took some determination on my part to get used to natto, but I wanted to, and now I really enjoy it. I'm looking forward to preparing more Japanese home foods - with your help!
