S&B curry (aka Vermont curry) has actually been available for many years in the USA. My Japanese exchange students are the ones who first told me about it.You can buy it in almost any grocery store, however about 15 years ago you could only get it at an Asian market. Good idea showing how to make curry sauce from scratch. Now I'm hungry.....I'm going to make.....Curry Soba........Itadakimasu!!

    Awesome for 2 reasons:
    1) I'd never have tought of eating soba with curry, but now I'll definitely do it.
    2) I like Jpanese curry, and now I know how to make it from scratch out of fresh ingredients.

Curry soba is so yummilicious, I swear. Every after work, I eat curry curry soba with onsen tamago at a Japanese restaurant nearby. I'm gonna attempt to cook this at home when I have all of my ingredients ready 😃😃😃

I love curry udon. I get it at a noodle place by me here in NYC a lot, and it is super good! I think I might try to make some at home this week- maybe on Tuesday.

I just made this recipe today, and it;s delicious! I was cooking for four people, so I had to substitute some ingredients, but the soba was filling and delicious with the earthy curry stew.

I'm glad you put how to make curry paste! I can always find it at my grocery store or the Asian market I go to, but it's very expensive, while I can by curry powder at a much more reasonable price.

I've been looking through Japanese curry recipes most of the afternoon, and mostly every time I see that they need special pre-made curry roux blocks. I haven't really found any places that sell these things packaged, so this video will be especially helpful for me. Thank you very much for showing how to make curry roux in a way that will work with that :D

Made this today. I'm very health conscious so I used whole wheat flour, low-fat milk, olive oil and curry powder to make the curry paste instead. Not sure how it compares to runny-san's version, but it's still delicious anyway! :) Thank you runny-san for your delicious recipe!

Curry is one of my all time favorite spice mixes : D If I ever make some experimental cooking and it turns out blander that i thought it would be, I just put curry in it and suddenly it's a new great curry dish.

I was too lazy to finish cooking the soba so I ate it with rice that was already made XD
This time I didn't have the kare block so thanks to this video I could make it from scratch.
    I made too much, though.
So I used some of that kare to make the karepan from your previous recipe.
    thx tarou-san.

I can buy these curry-blocks at japanese stores around here, but they're very expensive, because they're imported from Japan and the instructions are in japanese as well, so it's kinda hard to work with when you have no clue what the package is saying... so thanks for showing how to make this from scatch! It's a great help. :)

Yes you can definitely make this without dashi stock. For substitute I used beef stock and it turned out pretty good. It definitely enhanced the beef strips I put in instead of pork. Try it out! It's really good!
