Ok.. Total disclosure. I saw this video. I love runny videos, and this is first recipe I HAD to try , because of him applauding at the end. That said it all!! Listen" It is 100 times as delicious as you can imagine." I almost cried during the second bite>LMAO! UN..freaking Real.. Thank you runny for being you, and sharing your culture, you have magnificent taste...Wo! And so does this dish! thank you X 1million!
runnyrunny was the first youtuber teaching japanese food I seen 4 years ago. had to come back n suscribe n 2017
Years ago, I worked with some Japanese exchange students from Osaka, and they would have me over to their apartment to help make this. The style was slightly different, and we made each batch differently, but it was delicious every time! I still make it sometimes :-)
I hope you can share the recipe man . Greetings from Mexico !
Sounds lovely.
That shovel eating modus and the display of food-happiness are making me hungry... Also; first cooking channel I discover that's actually made by a guy. Thumbs up.
This looks like the most amazing hangover cure/drunk food EVER!!
*it is
Bruh you know if someone were to sell this in the US people would riot or call this person a clown
My wife and I went to Hiroshima in July 2012, and we fell in LOVE with okonomiyaki. We found the sauce and we'll try to do it this week.
He is just so damn adorable.
Mi Young he's hot ;)

runny is sooo kawaiii
😍😍😍😍😍🤗😄
Thank you, Runny, for reawakening my passion for cooking Japanese food!!! I discovered your channel today and cannot stop watching your AWESOME videos! You are so encouraging and funny and make seemingly difficult recipes very easy to understand - the same ways in which my Japanese mother taught me how to cook. After she passed away, I lost interest in preparing Japanese meals. Thanks to you, I am reminded of how much fun Japanese cooking is and all the happiness it brings! ありがとう!
wow, this is a lot of hardwork. im demotivated just watching....
Not entirely. If you were to make a bulk or a few of them, it's easier. This is a video on how to make a single portion of something usually made in bulks in restaurants in Japan. The chefs who make these can make this in practically a minute or two. And about 5 in the same amount of time. There are a lot of videos of them making this. Check them out if you want to, they're pretty cool. ^^
well but im not making in bulk. im mostly cooking for myself alone at home so.
zhubenn
Which is why I said "not entirely". It's difficult, yes, but I assume it's because it's more of a party recipe than for one person.
But that being said, a lot of recipes require a lot of hard work. If you enjoy cooking it shouldn't be so hard. Although again, I'm assuming you have the time to cook.
Nintendo122333 it's not really "not entirely" for me. because it is either "a lot of handwork" for cooking for one OR "not a lot of handwork" cooking in bulk.
zhubenn For me, "not entirely" means "it depends". ಠ_ಠ
I'm going back and rewatching many of your videos. This one is a long time favorite. You and cooking with dog taught my kids and I a lot over the years. I hope you are doing well.
lol shut up guys im doing my best
I made this 2 days ago. The yakisoba noodles were huge. Most places serve it as one giant pancake. This recipe had character! Leftovers taste really good the 2nd day as well.
O^O, piango per lo spettacolare piatto che hai fatto >w
Abram Divi ma nooo >w
Abram Divi ^O^ e si!
lol at "Shut up guys, I'm doing my best." Adorable! And my goodness this looks so good. Definitely going to make this one day.
Did you? Was it good?
I had an okonomiyaki in Hiroshima, and it was SO good. But it's just too much food XDD The big mountain of cabbage alone is so much food ! And then a package of noodles, and the bacon, and egg... XD I couldn't finish it !

You eating it at the end is torture to me....I'm soooo hungry now >____
Me too, but I have an avocado with lemon, salt, herbs &bacon grease, and a fresh orange chaser waiting for me.... six years later.
I now know I'm not the only person who has a mini explosion of joy inside whenever I eat something delicious.
I put like 4 eggs in mine before watching this video and it came out like a sponge lmao
LMAO
Omg I’ve missed you! I’m glad I found your channel again !,
"Shut up guys. I'm doing my best." HAHAHAHAH XD nonetheless, this succeeded to make me hungrier ; n ;
Loved your video, a new way to make okonomiyaki. The first time I had okonomiyaki was in Osaka just before going to sumo tournament. You gave your order to the chef and he mixed all the ingredients together with the batter then it was brought to the table / grill with two spatulas and you and your friend cooked it together. The taste was unforgettable.....those were the best days!!
why use a fork when you have a spatula! (>O
It was game over when he cracked that egg into the pan. . . LOOKS SOOOOOO GOOD ! ! !
7:30 this dude uses a spatula to shovel like 6 bites in his face at once! wow mayn..
Cuz forks, spoons, and knifes are for the simple people. (sarcasm) Spatulas are for badasses. ;D
lol when you go to a restaurant in Japan they give you mini spatulas to eat it with
That's what they give you to eat it when you get it at a restaurant. I guess its traditional. At any rate, it's a fun way to eat XD and insanely delicious... ooooh I wanna go back D':
I just tried it it tastes awsome!!! I didnt have okonomiyaki sauce so i used this korean bbq sauce instead! I also added prawn, some sweet corn and mashed some potatoe into the batter! I'm eating it right now it tastes soooo good!!! Try it everyone!!!
you are sooooooo cute! xx
You explain how to construct the dish very well! Thank you for taking the time to do so - I hope the video continues to inform people who are interested in preparing dishes outside their regional experience :)
Ahh... The eating is such torture :L Looks so delish... And what is up with you people????!!! 105 dislikes, sheesh... Haters...
There's a lot of ingredients in this. It's like a whole meal on a plate. Looks filling.
LOL "shut up max. I'm doing my best."
I visited Hiroshima in 09 and Okonomiyaki was by far my favorite dish during my entire trip. I've failed at making it so far but your vid clears up a few things so hopefully my next attempt will be more successful!
YUMMY! Today I went to the Asian market and bought all the ingredients, came home and set up my laptop in the kitchen and made this! It's so delicious!! Thank you Runny-san!
I love the recipe and you explain it simply enough for a novice like myself can understand. Thank you I really like this video.
I don't understand why so many people think okonomiyaki is strange! I didn't grow up with Japanese culture either but when I first heard about this dish I could only think of how ingenious and awesome-tasting it must be!
もう おなかがすいた!お好み焼き大好き!sharing video ありがとう! ❤️☺️
This is the most fantastically insane recipe I've ever seen! Great job!
Had this in Hiroshima, and it's easily one of the best things I have ever eaten
Hahaha the shut up guys part was hilarious. Also thank you for adding "optional" ingredients for the people who can't find certain things in stores. :D Your videos are awesome.
I just uploaded a new video! Please watch the video, as well :) Thanks everyone!
My first time to discover this interesting japanese Recipe, it looks delicious and healthy, I will surely try this in my kitchen. No wonder japanese are intillegent people, food are really fantastic. share more of japanese recipes. Thank you.

I love how there's this music like something awesome is going to happen and then splat "shut up i'm trying my best" lmao you're so adorable but i guess it was awesome in it's own way
i had okonomiyaki in hiroshima this past summer. watching this brought back so many memories :')
Wow I'm impressed, I wasn't so sure about the look of it before the dressing (with so many ingredients !!) but it looks sooooo good in the end !
I love the sound effects! This is such a cute and helpful video. XD
Haha runny. You use the cutest music. I'm so hungry now, the okonomiyaki looks great
I general hate any green and leafy vegetable, but Japanese food always seem to make it taste so good. So want to try this as well.
I love your channel! I was able to make so much and learn how to make so much from this. Very delicious...can't wait to make this recipe!
wow! must be good! i have to give it try soon! thanks for sharing the recipe with us!
I checked out a bunch of Hiroshima-style recipes and this one looks like a great combination of simple and good. I'm gonna make it tomorrow with my girlfriend and let you know how it went!
I made this tonight exactly from your instructions and it was DELICIOUS!!!!! おいしい!!!! thank you so much!!
"...shut up guys, im doing my best" this is why i love this channel.
Best Hiroshima Style Okonomiyaki video I've seen, thanks!!!
I just made this with some somen noodles I had laying around. Added a dash of beer to the batter instead of the water. It was AMAZING.
This dood is prob high due to adding beer
Actually no, I was just curious to see if it would work. And it did.
Oscar Scheepstra it makes the cake crispier , rite
Yes. And a bit fluffier as well!
You are absolutely not an amateur! :-) I think you are very good at cooking - everyone can make mistakes once in a while.
1年ぐらい大阪に住んでいたけどこんなお好み焼きを見た事がない。広島のお好み焼きは全然違うね。
and now im starving... it looks so good my mouth waters.
Made my first okonomiyaki today, thanks to you ! I cheated and did the Kansai style :) Next one is Hirosjima style.
Used some dashi and mirin for the batter and a simple homemade okonomisuace. Tried to buy the sauce and bonitoflakes today but they looked at me if i was an idiot. So have to find an online store what isnt sold out.
Its good and tasty food, thanks !
Oh I cant wait to eat this, thank you for a much easier recipe than most of them, yummy
Looks yummy!! Thank you for the upload and the tips on how to make it with items easy to find in normal american stores.
i love the dramatic music that came on when he put them together
hiroshima style , u can enjoy LAYER !
this is quite different from kansai style
im from hiroshima so i do love okonomiyaki ! ! !
i love the way you put the music for the challenging part!
I made this a few days ago from Cooking with Dogs's recipe. It's about the same. Made a huge mess but turned out great! I love the idea of using potato chips. I'll do that next time. Thanks!
Great video. Lots of fun watching you cook.
Runny! I tried it today...
I can only say, it looks better when you cook it..
Probably tastes better too........
Sweet Mother of Pearl! This looks so good!!!
mixing the egg with a ladle and eating with a spatula are such lovely touches runnyrunny! :P - gotta try this as many other of your creations which have become staples in our home (minus the meat in this one :)
I don't know why, but looking at those bonito flakes circulate was really fascinating...
Looks so good! So different from the regular okonamiyaki.
It has similarly to OKOY only the main ingredients is bean sprouts and shrimps. It is the popular Filipino viand.
The similarly ends with the batter and the cabbage.
"Shut up guys, I'm doing my best" xD I find amusing and cute how he said that
I LOVE THE SOUND EFFECTS!
God in heaven... This looks gorgeous!
Wow, I wish there were restaurants here in Colorado, USA that specialized in hiroshima style okonomiyaki. It looks so good...more so when I watch you eat it, lol! Thanks for posting this recipe. I've never realized this dish existed until I watched this video. :-)
I miss Okonomiyaki thanks for Your great teaching I will try
It doesn't matter how it looks, just the taste!!
I may just have found my newest favorite food channel! Many Thanks. Can't wait to goof this up. LOL.
Peace
Gill
NOM. i wouldn't share this with 3 others i would just eat it all on my own. hiroshima-style okonomiyaki is one of my favourite japanese foods!
I laughed so hard when you flipped it over for the last time. BTW, it looks extremely yummy!
Made it last night, that was AWESOME ! Thanks !
This made my day :)
I shouldn't have watched this on an empty stomach ;A; Looks SO good
Hello, in 2012 I made okonomiyaki based on your video of “cheating version of okonomiyaki” and really enjoyed it. But now I could not find that video on your channel? Can you please share it again? Thanks a bunch and really appreciate it.
This was soo yummy! I didn't have bacon, but with some garden tomato chips on top it was so NOM! thanks man!
Your face in the end is the best part of the video :D
I always laugh with you, I'm your fan.
I finally made a perfect okonomiyaki!! I made exactly like that, but I also add shrimp. Surf and Turf!
Thank you for sharing! Gona try to make this for lunch tomorrow!
The sound effects are awesome.
I did make this...it is my new favorite..came out great! Thanks runnyrunny999!
I really love the music for some reason.
When the that music started playing at 5:18 I felt like I was playing Okami again and facing an enemy! But then I laughed when the flip failed-I'm sorry I laughed! But thank you SO much for the video! I now know how to make okonomiyaki Hiroshima style!
とてもおいしいですね。ビデオをポストしだったからありがとうございます。
just tryed it... it was great... greetings from chile...
That's one heck of a meal all packed together into one dish.
At first I thought it would be like a quesedilla and I love quesedillas but at the end.. It looked so much better than it! Mmmm, I might just have to try this although I don't know where I will get my hands on some of the stuff.
Good job!
I love the sounds for the video. :)
The food looks good too.
Someone just had a bunch of leftovers in their fridge to just come up with this haha. Looks good regardless. *Q*
this is possibly the most awesome part of youtube ive ever stumbled upon.
