Next up on Hexibase, a 3D printed 8th order bandpass with a 2x isobaric group in push push configuration. 😍 Tuned to peak at seperate peaks and maxing out at 70-75hz, so by 90hz the sub has passed the job to the other speakers.

Greetings from Scandinavia and esp. from Finland, an emeritus architect writing. You asked about the lenght of this (longer than usual) video. For me it was perfect. Your other videos are usual in my opinion too short with your poitively short/exact but also rather fast english thinking about your naturally growing global audience. You said podcasts, I feel strongly I ’drown in podcasts’ today so instead of going there - just perfect your already excellent videos, please.
You often finish your shorter videos about an audial situation very suddenly. I have been listening intensively, for example about the problem of youtube audio quality. And I am towards the end even more intensively waiting for your personal point of view and advises about what we can do to create/invent our own solutions. Usually you keep this to yourself - and naturally I respect your reasons.
Extra professional bonus you have given us out here: your exact 3D experiments have revolutionized our small architects office in producing complicated architectural miniature modells. My favourite ones - made after your own 3D projects - are created by skilful womens, by my wife and daughter studing the exact acoustics (and visual aesthetics) of interiors for music rooms, chapels, studios and - and finally private homes with a grand piano in the center (a home can be an acoustic problem but it that can be solved with knowledge).

I had a debate with a long time friend of mine a few months back on the efficacy of large 3D printed enclosures, and have been sending your videos as a sort of "proof of concept" with the smaller enclosures. This video alone proves that 3D printing (as slow as it is) is a valid way of creating enclosures. I do appreciate that you went for a more standard design, as with your ability to model (and print) basically any enclosure style, you could've gone for something absolutely insane, 94738924773rd order, invisible bracing with a low shelf of -60hz haha.
I do agree with some of the comments stating that some internal bracing could've been used to help with the resonance, but if you say it's fine, I'll damn well believe it haha.
I won't even mention the crappy cabinet my Dayton speakers are sat in, but I am using an old pair of AKG K702 headphones to listen; they do the job just fine :)
Looking forward to your future endeavours as always!

I listened to this with my Sennheizer HD598 SE headphones powered by a Behringer Q802USB mixer. My next hobby project will be with audio exciters. Attach a single audio exciter to the back of an extruded polyeurethane foam panel and it creates a beautiful realistic audio presence. Top shelf as always, man! And for a single 10, that system you put together there is unbelievable. I've heard dual 18s that weren't that tight down low. Classy driver and solid cabinet. I listen with a repurposed Sony home theater receiver serving as a TOSLINK DAC, driving a pair of 20-year-old Sony MDR-V600s. (I know, I know, but I'm USED to them....) When I'm not trying to listen to subwoofers over TH-cam compression, I've got a pair of Dayton B652 bookshelf speakers driven by that same receiver. For being an extreme budget setup (the receiver was free!), I'm happy with the result.

Great edit! Transitions were on point! My request would be content explaining subwoofer design philosophies/ strategies that seem to be trending in today’s car audio industry. Along with how they translate over to T/S parameters. Then your input on the design strategies. I can also see an upload with you giving guidance to people who are unaware or newly interested in knowing some of the key determining factors that need to be considered/ chosen before deciding/compromising on the enclosure type that is best suited for their desired outcome. Cheers🍺🍺

Listened on Bose QC II. Bass came out clear except the 47Hz test. Sounded like the mic was clipped, but I assume that's the audio codec. Thank you for the excellent review and demo.

I can’t wait for the day you decide to venture into a MEH! Your videos are always informative and a treat.... Maybe one day a print bed will be big enough to print a front loaded or tapped horn!

Pete, I really enjoy your videos. I’m an audio files and technologist, so this channel awesome. I mostly watch TH-cam on my home theatre system. And the quality of the audio from your channel is amazing. My setup will reproduce 15Hz-19kHz (my ears are limited to ~25hz - 18kHz) and your audio seems to exercise that entire range. Your builds are amazing, and I’m seriously considering an upgrade for my Grand Cherokee now.... you may have also convinced me to get a 3D printer. I’m looking forward to trying that out.
If you are curious of my setup I watch you videos.
    LG 65” E7 OLED
    Pioneer SC-87
Polk signature series S60 fronts (bi-amp)
    Polk S35 center
    B&W DS3 dipole rears
    And the best....
    HSU VTF-15H MK1 15” sub

I watched this video on a pair of Beyerdynamic Custom one Pro Plus that I found for cheap online and the video sounded great!

Wow. Just wow. 👏 speechless I am. Patience you have! Listened on 20 dollar Sony headphones from Amazon that are 5 years old. Still has good enough overall sound for me, still has good lower end, good enough for me. The track you played now I'm going to play it in my truck, don't think these headphones do the complete lower end justice. I've an enclosure tuned around 18 hz at my head rest, LOL no choice its directly behind my head in the quad cab. Little over 3 cubes for an older Audiopipe TXX-BE(expanded surrounds past screw holes), on roughly 800(An older West Coast Customs 4 channel that has the duplicate function)watts, with big 3 AND 0 guage power and ground with extra battery. everything below 45hz rattles my eyeballs, I don't know what the cabin is actually tuned to. The truck is a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab. Windows rolled down halfway down at 60 mph creates a sub frequency "hum" that almost hurts the ears which im sure is the resonant frequency of the truck. I don't have the equipment to tell, lol.

not yet, a professional enclosure maker can whip this one out in half a day ( in wood )

    • @androiduberalles
      @androiduberalles 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

But it takes time to actually do it in wood. This is it's a machine popping it out. Granted, the pla is probably more expensive than the wood based on how much is used here!

What we need now is an automated toolchain for generating enclosures, something where you can just plug in your speaker specs, car model, and pick from a few designs specific to your use case. That would be the biggest advantage over something more conventional.

@@AndreaFromTokyo this design also doesnt take advantage of the 3d printing at all, you could have a long complicated T line printed and it would weigh a third as much as an MDF box
